GTP Toys - "Space Walls" Diorama Sets

Dioramas and Displays for collectors are a hot topic. While most say they want playsets, it's usually more a display they want. Think miniaturized movie set. Well, a small company named GTP (Galactic Trading Post) Toys may be coming to the rescue of collectors! Read on for the details, and join us in Our Forums to discuss these new toy display gems.

I made contact with the company founders, and while they're like all of us with families, full time jobs, and other factors of their daily lives, they're a very clearly dedicated group to bringing high-end collectable displays for action figures, and are putting all their efforts they can into making this line a success. I asked a few questions, and got many answers back, ranging on everything from materials to future goals. Collectors will be pleased to hear someone with clear backgrounds in this business, not just a dream and a love of toys, are at the helm of GTP Toys. Even better though, they're also collectors, and fans, just like the collectors they're trying to help.

While I don't remotely profess to be an expert on plastics, I have learned a thing or two over the years when working on my own customs, and model kits. It's sort of a necessity if you want the build quality you're aiming for, to know what you're working with. Off the bat, I asked the guys at GTP what their "Space Walls" were being made of... Liquid resins? 3D Prints? Nope, this company is working in injection molded plastic, and a high-grade quality akin to what Lego bricks are made of! You know you're dealing with something a step above, and a "toy" that is on par with the quality of the action figures that will be displayed around it.

The company is looking to achieve not just something that's visually stunning, but is of a quality level collectors can, and should expect when buying a product like this. The Space Walls come with a layer of paint to give them the accurate sheen and color. And the gang at GTP are also working towards a series of clips for connecting the walls together easily. In the meantime I've seen metal paper clips work nicely to hold the walls securely, and allow you to disassemble and reassemble as you wish.

The company heads are currently designing an LED light-panel that will work with the "light wall" section of the Space Walls, and will glow accurately and put the right light on your action figures. They've been waiting to see how the volume of sales does for them, as investing in this is all about selling it for as little as they can while still delivering a high quality product, and as always volume of sales is the determining factor to these decisions! I've seen some customers actually trying to light them on their own already, and they're pretty easy to set up with some LED lights and get a very nice effect! Still, it's great to hear GTP is looking into making their own official light-source for the wiring-challenged, if sales warrant, and I think they probably will.

The company currently has a 9 Wall Starter Set which features 9 pieces for a total of 32" of wall for $97.50. While it appears to be currently Sold Out, but fear not. The initial set does appear to be getting another production run, and more as sales warrant I would imagine. Also there is a currently available Expansion Set with two walls for 22.50, if you wanted to dip your toe in and see how these work for your display needs.

As well as the sets mentioned above, the company plans to offer things like ammo crates, boxes, barrels and more, which are pictured on their site as prototypes. Also, mention of an opening "Hangar Door" set was made, and that it may be done as a mechanical system that opens/closes as well. Likewise, the light panel isn't the only hope for lighted designs for the walls. Like I said, this company has goals, and knows how to achieve them!

You may be wondering about other scales, and trust me I was too! GTP Toys told me to fear not, and that the company is looking at 3.75" Scaled Space Walls hopefully for this Fall! While this surely is tickling the fancy of many collectors, don't worry 1/6 collectors, the company is also looking into 1/6 Scale Displays as well, and that lighting would "definitely have some with their release"! They teased in particular something to be announced hopefully on the upcoming Force Friday for the 1/6 line of products. This is ambitious indeed, but as with everything, it takes collector support to become a reality!

For GTP Toys, this is just the beginning. "Space Walls" are great, but why stop there? They're also looking at locales, as well as other lines of toys that maybe need some visual sprucing up with their system of displays and accessories. Likewise they're hoping to get into 1/1 props, so cosplayers aren't left out in the cold, and can have access to high quality weapons and accessories for their hobby as well. Can't say it enough, but this is an ambitious project that is already sold through its first batch of Starter Kit Space Walls. With support from the collecting world, you can only imagine what Galactic Trading Post will come out with next!

You can find GTP on Facebook at Facebook.com/GalacticTradingPost, and you can keep up with them on Instagram @GTPToys, where the tag #SpaceWalls will let them feature your displays to others. And of course, to purchase the products that are available or as they become available, visit GalacticTradingPost.com today!
