Japanese Star Wars Kubricks:
Exclusive Kubrick Box Sets
by Scott Pearson and Jeff Smentek
Max Rebo Band

The most recent box set was released through the Medicom Collector’s Club in the winter of 2005. This set contained Max Rebo and his crazy bandmates - Sy Snootles, Droopy McCool, and the SE addition Doda Bodonawieedo.
Max Rebo:

Max is one of the coolest Kubricks ever made. The blue skinned elephant sits in his Red Ball Jett keyboard system and makes for a very impressive piece of plastic.
Sy Snootles:

The Rebo Band lead singer is another work of Medicom Art. The paint spots and skirt detail are exquisite. Sy comes with her microphone. No word on if she prefers the original tune or the special edition tune she sang for Jabba.
Droopy McCool:

The last of the original Max Rebo members, Droopy the clarinet playing Kitonak, doesn’t see the need to wear a shirt in the Tatooine heat.
Doda Bodonawieedo:

George and crew added extra band members and dancers when the Special Editions were released in 1997. Doda is a Rodian and plays in the backup horn section. Doda was a rather odd addition to the set, only because his inclusion seems like a departure from Medicom’s love of the vintage line.
Packaging:

Again sporting a nice window box, the Rebo band set is another near exact duplicate of the Vintage Release. Also included in the set, is a beautiful cardboard diorama piece showcasing Jabba’s dingy palace.
