One of the most burning questions of our times happens to be what you call your favorite soft drink...
I'm a pop man myself

I too call it pop. And it was hard habit to break, but I finally got my wife to start calling it pop also. Took a little while to get that part of NY out of her. ;D

Having traveled in the South, that is one of the funniest things about going there.
"What'll you have hon, Coke?"
"Sure"
"What kind?"
"???, Coke"
"What kind of Coke?"
/me slaps the waitress for being Southern :-*
-
When I say Coke™, I mean Coke™. (Clearly the servers don't always notice the little ™ inflection.)
When I speak in generic terms, I say soda.
-
Beer.
-
I've always said soda for the most part, but once in awhile I'll catch myself saying pop.
-
I usually say, I need a cold one. But it will all come down to saying pop.
-
I'm a "pop" guy myself, but I think it basically breaks down to what region of the country(s) you're from. Very few areas probably have much of a mixture of the various choices.
I even know places where they use none of the above, but instead call it a "cola".
-
I would have to go with the above statement.Never hear anyone ever say pop or soda out here in the sticks, rarely Coke.
Although when I say it,I say"I Need a Dr.Pepper."
;D
-
I can't stand to hear someone say I want a pop, soda, drink, ect.
I say what I want, Pepsi, Mr. Pibb, Coors Light, ect. I do not like generic terms for something so specific.
Give me a Pepsi!! :)
-
I say pop, and I picjed that up after only living in Minnesota for 2 yrs. If my girl has her way, we'll be back there in a couple of months. :P
-
.....I always say Coke, and I always will...
"Want a Coke?"
"Yea! Whatcha got?"
"Ah... Coke, Barqs, Vanilla Coke, Cherry Coke, Pepsi Twist, your pick."
-
It's Pop here. They're just confused down South :P
-
I usually ask for the type I want. Pepsi please. but say at work and I get up I will tell my secretary I am going to get a soda, but when people are at my house I just ask them if they want a drink.
-
See, it is funny that only a few hundred miles away between GB and Minneapolis, the venacular changes between Pop and Soda
There are a whole bunch of Wisconsin/MInnesota word differences...
which I am trying to think of right now
I know one is Drinking Fountain
-
I usually specify Coke, Sprite or Pepsi ;)
-
I only drink water nowadays (except for liqour), but whenever I wanted one, I'd always request it as soda, unless I knew what type of soda I wanted. Usually it was "What type of soda do you have?" "Ok, Ill have a Coke then"
-
I am a sucker for "new" pops, last year was the big unveiling of Dr Pepper Red Fusion and Pepsi Blue, both of which were horrible IMO and Vanilla Coke which pretty good. This year so far I have seen a new Tropical Sprite which is actually tasty and would be a good mixer. The other I saw yesterday and I am looking forward to trying it, Mountain Dew Live Wire, it is a more Orangy Mountain Dew, the king of sodas. They only had two liters at the grocery store yesterday, I'll wait for the 20 oz bottle.
-
Pepsi Blue. Sounds like window cleaner to me. ;D
Vanilla Coke tastes like I think it's called Cream Soda. It's pink in color.
-
If you ever have the chance check Jones Sodas out, they sell them at our local grocery, well worth the price especially the Green Apple

Hey! I had the Mountain Dew Live Wire this morning! It is great, sweet orangy goodness, it says limited to Summer 2003 on the bottle, I hope not cause I think it is awesome!
-
Trivial cross border fact.
US Mountain Dew has highest amount of caffeine of any soda/pop/coke. No wonder y'all like it so much.
Canadian Mountain Dew has zero caffeine.
-
That is bizzare and I never knew that.
Does that black drink that uses beans from Columbia or Hawaii come caffienated up there?
Had the Live Wire this morning, it is pretty good. Really strong Orange flavor and all the caffieny goodness that us Americans come to expect from our POPS!

Yeah, coffee and tea are caffeinated, though tea seems to be going whole hog herbal with caffeine being less common. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they make caffeine illegal (health nannies will get ya).
We have Jolt cola, do you? All the sugar and twice the caffeine was the advertising line for it. Sells very well on university campuses.
