I made a couple of new customs and posted the pics for you to enjoy.

Good stuff there, thanks for showing all of it.  I really like your mix of vintage and modern stuff, and the clean organized way you choose do display your collection (and how the loose stuff is set up).

Your Freezing Chamber scene is looking good.  I would suggest maybe painting the background blue/black to add a bit more realism.  The white background does look ok though.

You've certainly done a ton of heads swaps.  Maybe add in a few more legs/arms swapping too.  It's always fun to add in as much variety on fan-fic customs.  Maybe doing some more painting as well, though your work is still a lot of fun without it.

My favorite though is the picture of you and your wife super-imposed onto the Han/Leia photograph.  It's hilarious.  My wife and I did the exact same thing last year in Branson, MO.

That dio is really impressive!  :o
Nice work on that "babe" figure  ;)

There's some really fun stuff here. I like the dios you've put together, and some of the swaps you've done are quite nice, and ones I hadn't thought of.

Some of the ones that stood out to me were some of your Endor Rebel characters, and your "Bib Fortuna" Jedi. I agree with Chewie that you're ready for the next step, and should try some limb swaps and get your feet wet with some paint applications.

Another thing to note: You might get more feedback if you used a hosting service so you could link your pics directly in your thread. I know a lot of the time I skip threads that link to another site: I bet a lot of others do as well. Laziness, I guess. But posting it in your thread allows you to post your comments on what you were thinking or were aiming for in your creation, and to me, that's part of the fun of seeing someone's work.

Yep, I think DD is right.  If you are able to directly post some pics, it will help get more feedback (if that's what you're looking for).

Anyways, I'm glad you are posting here, and I hope you continue to do so.  Feel free to give us some feedback too; it looks like you could give me some pointers.

There is a Bousch figure in one of your pics that I saw that looks to have some sort of cape?  And some major repainting?  Any information on this custom?

 :P
Title: Thank you guys!!!
Post by: Tijuanajedi on July 24, 2005, 07:32 PM
Please if you have a service I can purchase, so that I can link it up to the thread it will be most welcome.

In regards to the bousch, it is actually a vintage Lando skiff repainted, with a obi wan jedi cape and the bousch helmet, he was pretty beat up and I hate to see nice toys go to waste so I got a little creative and made a bounty hunter out of him.

No need to purchase anything!  I use this free web imaging service:

www.photobucket.com

I've never had a problem with them yet (--knock on wood--) and they're really easy to use and link to.  It's pretty self-explanatory once you get to the site, but if you need any help with anything, send me a PM or post it here.  ;D
Title: Re: My Customs & Dioramas

I've never used photobucket (which I hear is good), I use www.250free.com.  It ends up usually costing be anywhere from $4-$8 per month depending on how many hits I get, which is kind of high when I have a photonovel up (lots of pics in each photonovel).

Good luck!

Post by: Tijuanajedi on August 15, 2005, 01:52 AM
Hey guys,

here is a custom ship I am working on, I got it at a swap meet for 10 dls all beat up and I just said the hell with it, so here it is, I fixed the electronics and got some parts for it, as it stands it is about 90% finished.

Enjoy.

Post by: Ryan on August 15, 2005, 02:08 AM
I like those a lot. :) I wish you had some better pics though.

So what did you make them out of?
Title: Re: Custom Ship
Post by: Ryan on August 15, 2005, 02:12 AM
Bigger pictures would be nice. But I like what I see so far. I like the black. I think you could add some weathering here and there, by scratching off some balck paint so the original silver shows through, and it looks like blast marks. Also, you could add some extra weapons, since the ship wouldn't have any to begin with. Be sure to give us an update when you are done. :)
Title: works in progress

Title: I suck for photos
Post by: Tijuanajedi on August 15, 2005, 02:17 AM
I suck at pictures, the camera i took them with is a 7.2 megapixel i just got.

I will try for better ones, but I made them out of Playmobil control panels for the police, fire dept and airport sets, and i just took them apart and repainted with krylon satin plastic paint, now all i need is a diorama inspiration to put them in.
Title: Re: Custom Ship
Post by: Tijuanajedi on August 15, 2005, 02:19 AM
do you have any suggestions on where to put the guns, I have 2 spare vintage laser cannons and a few odds 7 ends from military sets, nothing i think would look really cool, in regards to the weathering i am afraid to do it as i suck at it.

Title: Re: Custom Ship
Post by: Ryan on August 15, 2005, 02:33 AM
Since the orignal color was silver weathering won't be too hard. You can just use an exacto and scrape the black paint off a bit. Try and do it in places that get weathered, like the nose cone, wings, the sides of the ship, engine areas, and places around hatches and windows. I think the guns would look good on the belly of the ship somewhere near the back. I personally would make them look somewhat concealed, as if they were some sort of illegal modification.

Yeah, the black is pretty nice, very slick.

Post by: CHEWIE on August 15, 2005, 11:45 AM
Well, this is so cool to see someone take on such a large vehicle and customize it.  It shows a true love of customizng.

It kind of reminds me of the Cobra Night Raven -

Very nice work so far.  As for adding some guns, I would suggest adding some, but nothing too big as it might contrast with the ships's sleek look.

I customized and painted a styrofoam packing box part, and I am thinking what it can be, I was thinking Mos Eisley or Yavin 4 or an old forgoten city I am waiting on inspiration to finish it.

Very nice, has a good stealthy look to it, almost sleeker than the silver was.
Can't wait to see the finished version!

Also I don't remember that joe ship, hasbro was good back in the day...

WOW!  Very ambitious project and it looks great so far.  I agree that some weathering would look nice as well as some new weapons (maybe under the nose?).  I can't wait to see the final pics!
Title: Re: Control panels

Very nice, the only control panel that I made was done out of index cards and a ZEST soap box (and Niub Niub's labels).
I forgot how cool Playmobile stuff was, I'll have to dig out my old sets ... if I can find 'em...

I've got one of those shuttles (don't know which one) and plan on making a cargo ship out of it. It's got all the parts except the two outside wings, so it's pretty cool. One thing I would like to do is replace the wheels with skid plates like most SW vehicles use. Anybody tried that?

I've started my first customized figure, and need some product info. I've cut the arm off a figure and glued it in a new position. What's most appropriate to use to fill in the resulting gaps? Sculpy or what?

Try Sculpy, as it should do the deed.

If it's a really small hole you can usually use wood putty too.  I've done that a couple of times.

I use Games Workshop brand 2-part putty (aka "green stuff" and "Kneadite").  I love it - it's a lot tougher than sculpey (at least in my experience) and it air dries so you don't need to cure it in boiling water or anything.

Wow, these custom fan fic playsets are definitely what sets you apart from most other customizers.  I have no idea how you make them, but I'd be very interested to know.

Outstanding job on these as always.

Also, have you thought about consolidating your threads into one Tijuanajedi master thread?

Can you help me please?

In regards to the playset construction, they are Playmobil Airport's, I got about 4 of them on e bay, combined and repainted the parts (took a long time as I got them used and with no instructions) and I built some Star Wars buildings, I did repaint a lot of the stuff as they come in blue, yellow, red, etc....

Thank you for looking and repliying.

You have to resize the images first, you can do that with any basic image editting software. If you don't have any, you can download a basic program for free.

Good work on that TJ.  You might also want to try flickr.com (http://www.flickr.com) for hosting pics.  Just make sure you resize and crop the pics before you upload, otherwise you run out of allowable uploads for the month.

That's so cool Tijuana!  I'm always amazed at how you come up with using playsets from other lines and turn them into something that fits perfectly in the Star Wars universe.  So where did this playset originally come from?

I agree with what everybody else has said - awesome playset!  It feels very regal and important, just like the Jedi Temple.  The design of the playset is also a great match to the film version.  What paint do you use for these playsets?  Is it spray-painted or hand-painted?

Thanks my friends!!!

OK, I started with spare parts from a Fairy Tale Castle (playmobil)

Then I researched the color scheme from Movies, websites & video games and then I spray Painted the Bases (Krylon fusion plastic paint) & handpainted the other smaller parts & details.

I also want to mention that the set was about 40 bucks on e bay incomplete but 80% there and I spent about 6 bucks on paint.

I will post more detailed pics when I finish it, thanks for posting your comments & ideas my friends.
