Thanks !!!!

I have no Idea? I've never timed myself. I just work a little here and there till they get done. It's not unusual for me to be working on multiple projects at the same time !!!(http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/contrib/ruinkai/biggrinsanta.gif)

That's great work, its almost inspiring. I have been so busy and lazy lately that I've been working on my Arena dio for months now, it's a wooden skeleton at the moment... see, I've been "almost finished" with a B-24 Liberator model for about 2 years now, too.  :o

The visual documentary you have going with your pod race diorama is very nice.  It is cool to see how much work goes into a big project behind the scenes so to speak.

Awesome job no-wan.  I see you are getting around, too.  I can't wait to see the finished podrace dio.

I see you still use your former name A-J !!!! Ya' the finish is near, for the time being that is. I'll be adding detailing and Custom figures w/updates from time to time as they come about !! I don't see it Done,Done for some time to come!! I basicly know what I want to do, just not sure exactly how to do it !!!
Podrace has been one long learning process for me. And I hope it will inspire others to try dio building !!!!(http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/happy/supergrin.gif)

The First Scenes are up !! I added a little Smoke to some of them, but it appears to do it right you need to Plumb for smoke during construction to get the desired effect !! ::)

very cool, very cool. at first i couldn't figure out what you meant by "deathstar hall shelf"... because i made something that i guess you could call a deathstar hall shelf, but it's a 3 tiered shelf, with a death star hallway background, that my imperial army gets displayed on.  ;D

Post by: JediMAC on November 11, 2003, 08:30 PM
Great work Rodger!   8)  Love the smoke effects...  One question though - where's the Commtech Stormies?

I still can't figure out how the hell a whole squadron of Stormtroopers wasn't able to shoot a guy standing point blank in front of them.  Your display continues to emphasize the Empire's exercising of shooting futility...   ::)

Keep up the excellent customs.  Looking forward to more!

- Matt

no-wan, an awesome job on the display, nicely detailed. will you be expanding on this idea to make more of the death star? and did you think of perhaps including turbolift doors as part of this hallway? awesome stuff all around!

happy customizing!

Nice. Too bad it was one of the lamest scene in the SW saga. It really embarrssing to have 10 trooper running away from one rebel scum. ::) :P ;)

But like I said. Nice job.

Very sweet... Not sure about the smoke,  :P... Ah man what if the Death Star caught on fire! That'd suck... anycrap... Very nice custom, how big is it? Looks over 3 ft...

What's the length of the display? Looks very long.

It's 48". :o

One question though - where's the Commtech Stormies?

I don't own any  :'( I wasn't sure what the difference was till I look'd um up !!

will you be expanding on this idea to make more of the death star? and did you think of perhaps including turbolift doors as part of this hallway?

I will expand on this one, but I want to keep it simple !! I want to build a "Light Box" Imperial Hanger in the future that will have lotsa Whistles and Bells !! ;)

Thanks All !!! ;D

Title: Hoth Battle Shelf !!!!
Post by: no-wan on January 8, 2004, 07:35 PM
My goal as usual was to display as many toys as possible into as small a space as possible without looking crammed together!!

And since I really don't consider my Shelf Displays "Dioramas" I keep them fairly simple without much detail !!!

For those of you who haven't seen it yet !! Go Here (http://www.thejawa.com/customs/rodger/hbs/hbs.php)

That is really cool! (pun intended)   Great work no-wan, I've been toying with putting away some Simpsons stuff to do a Hoth and Bepsin display...that is a great idea you have
Title: Re: Hoth Battle Shelf !!!!
Post by: Snively Bandar on January 9, 2004, 04:52 PM
I like it!  It may not necessarily be a "diorama" perse, but it does the job of getting an entire theme of figures consolidated into one environment to display.  The multi-leveled effect works well to further isolate given scenes.  That's along the lines of what I'm considering doing some day, since my diorama/customizing skills pretty much suck.   :-\

I really enjoy the idea of making a themed shelf to display a collective group of figures.

The added fact that it has levels with 'scenes' is a plus too.

It is a VERY nice job, yet.. it looks ..so woodish .. ;)

It would have been cool with plaster layer on top or so maybe :)

no-wan.... fantastic job... have been thinking of doing something similar when i start up my dios.

And, its great to see you have your priorities in order, finishing a great diorama shelf BEFORE you finish the basement walls! (lol)  ::)

BTW... any chance of telling us what kind of materials you used?

EDIT>>> For stoops like me, ignore that last question .. thanks for the edit in your original thread starter.

no-wan,

as always an outstanding job on your woodwork displays. the simplicity of the different areas is a nice contrast to the sometimes complexity of the hasbro toys. Keep up the fantastic work!

Happy customizing!

Nice idea but it seems rather sterile to me.
Title: Re: Wampa Shelf !!!!
Post by: no-wan on January 19, 2004, 06:09 PM
it seems rather sterile to me.

Exactly !! Dust is a concern when I design open Displays. I want to keep them easy to clean, That's why I use Gloss Paint on all upward facing surfaces !!  ;D

This Shelf is not a Diorama, but a Display to Show Toys other than a plain Store bought  Shelf !!

All of my more detailed Dioramas are inclosed as to keep out as much Dust as possible !! I think most people don't realize how destructive Dust is !! :o

But having a Wood Shop, I know only too Well !!!! ;)

Long enough that is to do another LightBox Dio.... well finish the one that's been on hold for about 3 months...LOL !!

I'll be starting an update thread soon over at thejawa Forums if you'd like to keep up on the progress (I need to stay a little Homey during construction) stop on over and check it out !! ;)
