I don't usually post my customs on the forums and a lot of people are just plain burned out on Clone Trooper customs, but I thought I would post a couple of pics of this one anyway since I am new to JD. This one is about 95% complete, just have to add a few minor details & should be done tonight...

Nice, I'd buy him.
-
Very straight and very clean. Well done.
-
That looks great, the lines are really crisp, nice work. What did you make that visor out of?
-
nicely done, great color match and clean lines. i'm a sucker for some mild battle damage, but clean is good too :)

Thanks, the visor is made out of sheet styrene that I cut for the basic shape of the visor, then I use hot glue for depth on the top and to cover the seams. The hot glue dries nice and solid and can be easily shaped with a dremel & sanding disc.
This is what it looks like once the basic shape is done:

That backpack pictured was a prototype I used before I molded and cast the final one...

Thanks, I like battle damage myself, thought about adding a few scuff marks, but still not sure if I will add it to this one.
-
Wow, I had no idea that the backpack was sculpted - I thought it was a modified battle droid backpack!
I am amazed at how some people can sculpt a piece and make it look factory. Great work, I look forward to seeing some more!
Oh yeah, leave the clone clean! ;)
-
That is a nice looking Shock trooper. The lines are so clean it looks factory painted (or better!). I'm with Greg, I didn't realize that was a sculpted backpack. Wow. What do you sculpt with? Keep up the great work.

It was originally a Battle Droid Backpack that I added some styrene strips to and chopped up a little to get my basic shape for the mold. Once the mold is made, I trim, sand, add some new antenna's & paint to it.

Holy crap, this is nice. I really like the backpack and the visor, very inventive. You did a great job on the painting too, a truly one of a kind Shocktrooper commander. Not that he needs it, but a shoulder pauldron could look cool. Either way, outstanding custom Exjedi!
:P
-
Where do you get the styrene strips for these customs? They look like a nice thing to work with.
-
You can pick styrene up at HobbyTownUSA, or a similar store.
Anyway great custom, I love the backpack. At first i couldn't tell it was from a battle droid. :o

Thanks. I actually made a pauldron, a cloth skirt, and even tried just a single leg holster, but ultimately didn't like the look of it, so I stuck with plain.

I was trying to fill in the gap between paint drying on a couple of customs and out of sheer boredom decided to add a little color to some these little SAGA mini Holo figures...
-
That's awesome! That is exactly what I was going to do with an extra Holo Boba Fett figure. You really nailed the details on that Stormie. Great work!
-
These are great, ExJedi. I for one love seeing new clone designs, and your shocktrooper commander looks amazing. Yout painting is crisp and clean, and you taught me a new use for all the sheet styrene I have lying around.
Very creative. Keep it up!

The Boba is going to be the most detail oriented of the bunch, can't wait to see how that one turns out when you you complete it. Vader and the Stormtrooper were pretty simple, Darth Maul might be challenge with the face paint, but I kind of like them in color...

Now that looks GREAT! I may have found a new project for my holo's. Wow.
-
Damn good idea for those mini holos, and an even better paint app. I also like the lines and backpack on your shock commander, along with your Massive Imperial Army (http://www.geocities.com/radoy/page17.html). *drool* I had to smack it with a cold spoon to reduce my excitement. DOWN BOY!
-
Painting these damn little things is getting addictive and now I am going to have to paint a whole set.
I just finished Count Dooku...

yet another batch of well painted figures I actually saw the actual size of them which is about 1/48 scale and you are really bringing out the details in them top stuff mate.
Ron
-
Wow!
And I think it's tuff painting the 4" stuff.
I think I'll have to give this a try, since I'm going to have tons of extra hologram figs by years end.
Thanks for the Inspiration,

I am having way too much fun making these Cody style visors for some EU commanders...anyway this one is almost complete, just need to rough him up a bit for more of a weathered look.

Awesome 501st Cody. You should enter that in the customs give-a-way.

I finally finished painting all 12 of these damn little things in between a few other projects...

Man, those look fantastic! I really like the Yoda flame base. Your small detail painting is incredible (I like the white markings on the Cody-style visors).
That 501st Cody-esque Clone Commander looks great, does he have a name?
-
Excellent work on the mini figs. The detail is astounding. The Fett is my favorite.
I really like the Blue Commander. I love the design of Cody's helmet, but I can never get my quite make mine look right. Once the cody fig comes out ( and provided I can find a few) Ill probably take up Cloning again.
How do you get the visors on the helmets to look like that? BTW the backpack is sweet too. What did you use for that?

Thanks & no name on the 501st Commander.
I use to give my customs Latin Names (not to be mistaken with Latino), like 2 of my Fan Fiction Sith creations Darth Loricatus and Darth Caedo, it made the name a little more interesting that way. Loricatus is the Latin word for the wearing of heavy armor and Caedo means to Kill or Murder.
-
WOW O WOW the last clone you did just rocks the weathering really brings it to life and again wonderful paint work on the mini figures.
Ron

Those are fantastic! I can't imagine what would happen to my eyes after painting those. :D

I hate Hasblo's version, so I decided to make a #41 SA Clone into Cody. I borrowed the shoulder pads, belt, backpack, rank badge, helmet and of course gave him a removeable helmet...

The SA body makes Cody Taller and more in line with the regular Clones.
The range of motion is limited at the shoulders, but definitley an improvement over the current version.

Mate yet another job well done you keep steping up to the plate and hitting a home run everytime well done.
Ron

Great Job!

Hey ExJedi,
Great job on the Cody revamp, you put Hasbro to shame.
I like it so much I think I'll post it on 'scum and pretend it's mine. ;D
-DD
-
Wow, that is a great Cody upgrade! I've been thinking about doing the same thing. Did you swap out the arms completely between the #41 and Cody or just dremel the shoulder pads? I'm wondering how you got the arm band too.
I was shocked how much shorter Cody was when I saw pictures of the figures. I'm going to have to do this same upgrade I think!

DD you crack me up.
That's a really cool custom, there- this is what I'm doing too- well, once I actually FIND a Cody...great job all around, man.
-
Thanks for the compliments, still have to work on the helmet. I don't like Habro's cheap paint job, I am adding more paint detail to it.

I chopped up the original Cody Arms with an Xacto including the armband which was a real pain in the ass to keep as one piece with the shoulder pads, but it worked. The armband was just hollowed out, and then slid up the arm of the SA #41. I know it sounds stange, but the less I have to glue the better.
I had to sand down the existing shoulder pads on the SA 41 in order for the new pads to fit, also had to chop down the band part of the ball joint lower than everything else in order for the arms to rotate up and down and to the sides freely without rubbing into the new ones.

You might as well. In all honesty I posted one there too, figured with the sudden outbreak of impersonations going on, I should finally be the one to post images myself. ;D
A fellow customizer sent me another e-mail last week about a guy answering questions on some customs forum about the customs he made on his his website exjedi.com.
I am assuming it was the same guy as the one over at RS, but who knows. :P
-
Be careful, exjedi. It sounds like you've got some crazy "Single White Female" type situation going on. Can you think of anyone in your life who's recently gotten your haircut, and started dressing like you? :P
Seriously though, you do some great work and I've been a lurker at your site for well over a year. I'm glad you decided to join us here on a regular basis!

very nice clones exjedi. how many mini figs are there nyway?
-
Nice upgrade ExJedi! I was going to be "content" with my stock version of Cody, but after I've seen yours, I don't think I'll be able to. Thanks a lot, more projects on the table ::). :P
-
Your upgrade is EXCELLENT. Very well done and makes one wonder why Hasbro made their version so short... they did a good job on the sculpt but really didn't do the size right. Very good upgrade, now yours looks perfect.
:)
