HAHA, I have no idea what to think. I would assume its a joke, but then again you never know  ;)

"Upper torso sold separately".

Well done, I'd say.  ;)

It's certainly a joke but I think Maul is going to be their next offering.  It's just a way to lead into it.  That should make people happy and broke that the Sith are coming.

Well, they got me.  I just read my newsletter and was stumped so I thought I'd pop on over here and see what was going on.

I assume the next one will be Maul though...which is cool.

Early picture of the new Darth Maul figure.

The probe droids are a separate sku - priced at $29.99.

I can't wait to see a better picture. Are you sure the probe droids are 29.99?  ???
Title: Re: Sideshow Darth Maul...

I gotta have Darth Maul to display battling Qui-Gon (and eventually and AOTC Obi-Wan)!

Here's the wording:

12-Inch Darth Maul

"The second entry in Sideshow Collectibles Dark Lords of the Sith line (you did preorder the 12" Darth Vader: Sith Apprentice exclusive, didn't you?) is the satanic-looking Darth Maul. Created with an amazing likeness of actor Ray Park, Maul comes with a hooded Sith robe, several lightsaber variations, electrobinoculars, interchangeable hands, and a display base. The regular version should still be available for preorder at www.sideshowcollectibles.com (http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/12943/CD996) for $49.99"

12-Inch Accessory Set - Sith Probe Droids

"Shortly after the 12" Darth Maul goes on sale, Sideshow will make this set of Sith probe droids (as seen in The Phantom Menace) available for approximately $29.99. The set comes with three probe droids and includes support rods, a desert-themed display base, and a droid controller bracelet. *Prototype shown"

I don't see anything about the 12" Maul on the site and didn't get a newsletter yet.

A lot of people were speculating that Maul would be the next in the 12" line, I'm glad they were right! This also explains why SS decided to introduce the "Inclusive" idea now. Can you imagine how many people would be hot under the collar about missing the Exclusive edition of Maul?
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: EdSolo on June 6, 2006, 07:21 AM
With the probe droids and wristband separate, I really wonder what the Maul exclusive is going to include.
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: evenflow on June 6, 2006, 08:47 AM
I was really expecting the probe droids to be the exclusive extra but i gues not. Not sure what they will do for it now. 29.99 seems a bit much for the probe droids, but i know i will order them anyway.

What if, with the new Inclusive Edition, SSC will stop making the Exclusive Editions with pack ins.. and offer them as a separate purchase.. like with the Probes?
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: Jayson on June 6, 2006, 09:29 AM
Not a bad idea... I just hope they don't go back a offer them on past releases, then all you'd have is exclusive packaging.
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: DualSaberMaster on June 6, 2006, 01:49 PM
I think the exclusive will be Maul's battle damaged lightsaber.  Whether we'll get the lit or unlit version, or both ends, that I don't know. :P
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: Holographic Elvis on June 6, 2006, 01:54 PM
Sorry, but no way I'm gonna pay $50 for Maul and then $30 for those little probe droids.  That's just ridiculous and I hope many others will think so.  That's like saying that little holo Emperor is worth $30.  I will just get the regular Maul since it appears there won't be an exclusive.  I thought the text said something about him coming with multiple lightsaber variations, so I've gotta believe we'll see his full saber, half-ignited saber and BD saber come with the fig.  What else would be included w/ the regular edition?  Maybe binoculars but really, what else?
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul

A cool accessory would be that walking hologram projector, but chances of that are nill

Watch...since all this info has leaked before the next annoucement, they will fool us an offer a completely different figure next.

The Preview Page (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=1563) is now up!

"The Darth Maul - Inclusive Edition - 12-inch Figure will pre-order from Thursday, June 15th at 6pm (PST) through Monday, June 19th at 6pm (PST). To place your order for the Inclusive Edition of Darth Maul, simply visit the frontpage of SideshowCollectibles.com and click on the large banner in the center of the page."

ps.
There is a Preview Page (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=1564) for the Probe Droids too - same order schedule as Maul...

Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul

I will be ordering one of each. So does this mean there is no longer an exclusive edition?
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: JesseVader08 on June 9, 2006, 01:08 PM
I will be ordering one of each. So does this mean there is no longer an exclusive edition?

In this case, the exclusive is replaced by the inclusive edition.  Their info page (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=1532) is a pretty good read to make sense of it.

Q: Does an Inclusive Edition product differ from Sideshow's Exclusive Editions? If so, how?

A: The difference between an Inclusive Edition and an Exclusive Edition is that the Inclusive Edition will be limited by pre-ordering time and not by a set edition number. For products chosen to participate in the Inclusive program (and only those products), the Sideshow Inclusive Edition will take the place of the Sideshow Exclusive Edition, in that this edition will only be available directly from SideshowCollectibles.com. What was once exclusive now becomes inclusive!

Q: Will you continue to offer a Regular Edition for those products with an Inclusive Edition?

A: There may still be a quantity-limited Regular Edition, which will differ slightly in accessories, clothing, or other variations, offered at SideshowCollectibles.com and through other retailers. This will be determined on a per-product basis.

Q: Will you be offering Inclusive Editions for all of your products from now on?

A: No, we will not. The Sideshow Inclusive Edition will only be offered for very specific products, and it will always be announced ahead of time, on the product's preview page.

Q: Will we be able to purchase more than one per person?

A: This will be decided on a per-product basis. Some products may be limited to one per person, per account, while some may have a higher order limit.

Q: How long will the Inclusive Edition pre-ordering time-frame last?

A: The time frame may vary from product to product, but it will always be specified on the product's Inclusive Edition Preview Page.

Q: What about cancellations?

A: At this time, you are free to cancel your order at any time without penalty. Plus, any purchase you make at SideshowCollectibles.com is protected by our 30 Day Return Policy!

Q: What about Wait List reservations?

A: We will continue to take Wait List reservations, for those who may have missed out, after the Inclusive Edition pre-ordering window has closed. Please refer to our Wait List Reservation System for more information about how Wait Lists work.

Q: Will there still be Priority Pre-Ordering opportunities for Newsletter subscribers?

A: Yes, we will still offer our popular Priority Pre-Orders for many upcoming products. The Sideshow Inclusive Edition program will not replace Priority Pre-Orders, which reward our Newsletter Members with an early Pre-Order opportunity on hot products. Rather, Inclusive Editions will be made available for products that we feel especially appeal to a broader collecting audience. (For more information about Priority Pre-Ordering, please Click Here.)

Nice looking figure all around but those boots look a little clunky, kind of Napoleon Dynamite-ish. Uhhhh IDIOT!

Yeah, I have to get this.  That looks great.  I do agree about the boots as they are a bit clunky.  However, everything else looks damn snappy to me.

I can't wait for this one!!!!  ;D Also very happy to see the Inclusive edition will have something extra to it. The damaged saber is a nice touch. I will also be ordering the probe droids although they are prices too high.

I think the boots are correct after seeing pics from TPM.

I'm definitely passing on the probe droids.  I'll put that $30 toward another of these kick ass figs.

Nice looking figure.  I'm glad I don't have to worry about getting this one and sitting at my computer franticly hitting refresh.  I'd imagine when it's all said and done, we're looking at an edition size of at least 3500.

It's such a relief to know that even though I have plans for the evening (starting before 6PM PST), I won't have to worry about missing a one hour order window - the Inclusive Edition ordering window of a couple days is so much better.

Maul went up early.  I just placed my order, quickest it's ever been.  I was thinking about getting the Sith probe droids, but in the end decided against it.  Will put the $25 towards something else.

I must say,  I think it took me longer to read about the figure and probe droid set to see what was included than to actually order and check out.  I really like this method of ordering.  I guess we'll have to see what they do with future figures.
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: Mikey D on June 16, 2006, 07:47 AM
Yeah, that was great - nice and fast.  I would imagine that the majority of future Star Wars figures would be of the inclusive variety.

Except for maybe Ric Olie.  He sucks.

A little late but I put my order in just a few minutes ago. Didn't feel the need to rush since we have until Monday ;). Great feeling not having to be in a panic about a Star Wars purchase. Especially after dealing with the now infamous Blackhole Stormtrooper incident :-X.

Put my order in yesterday. I hope there are several more Inclusive Edition figures like this one. It was great not to fret over not getting the battle-damaged lightsaber.
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: Holographic Elvis on June 18, 2006, 04:53 PM
I guess we'll see how many were sold cause obviously this was a test run for the inclusive system.  I don't seem them doing it with another 12" Sith.  If we start seeing more OT figs, maybe they'll try it again w/ one of those or with Clones.
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: Matt_Fury on June 19, 2006, 12:19 PM
I'm just curious if they will put out a non-inclusive version.  I really don't see the point since anyone and there mom can order one in the amount of time this ordering window has been open.
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: Jeff on June 19, 2006, 10:31 PM
The answer is yes - there is a non-inclusive edition 12" Maul (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=2115&source=wp_news), missing the battle-damaged saber.
Title: Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
Post by: Brian on June 20, 2006, 04:31 PM
I was just looking at some of the pics over at Sideshow of this Maul figure (haven't really gotten a chance to look closer previously), and to me it looks pretty sweet.  I'm not planning on ordering, but it was awfully tempting.  If I go further into this line, I'm going to stick to OT.  I missed the Jedi Luke, but have Han preordered - hopefully there will be more OT figures soon.  If I wasn't collecting anything else, it would be neat to go all out with this line, with a nice glass display case :).

I actually was just wondering this myself while reading the posts. I'm guessing not since it was a separate purchase instead of a package deal. You would think SS would be sure to have them ready at the same time though.

Well just received my Inc. Darth Maul moments ago.  I was worried about getting one with decent paint application due to the complex face pattern, and just my luck.  I get one with the right side of his face with a finger print, and lousy cover up job. >:(

*sigh* Time to hit up SSC to see if I can get him exchanged. ::)

At least SSC is listening and improving how they ship these things.  I like the foam ends, it's a good start, but the whole box should be sealed in Styrofoam.

Not too huge a deal since I will free Maul shortly.. but still a slap in the face.

Though it did have a rather big error. He is supposed to come with two of each hand, an open and a closed. Mine came with One open left, one open right, and two closed right. I'm going to have to contact Sideshow and see  about getting a replacement part.

Ryan, did you get the correct hands yet?

This figure rocks.  The poses I can do boggle the mind.  Robe on with half saber (ignited and not ignited), robe half off with full saber (again, ignited or not) and then no robe and a million different positions and either a half saber or whole (both ignited).  The paint job is perfect as is the size of his head to his body proportion.  It's just a sweet, sweet figure to have.

I had to cancel my preorder for the Inclusive version, since it was going to arrive before Christmas. But I was able to score a regular edition at my LCS, and I'm glad I bought it.

And then, after I bring it home, I notice on the main pages of all the fan sites that 75 pieces of the Inclusive edition are available in a Second Chance sale for the same price I paid.  :P Win some, lose some.

I got my probe droids Friday, and I think thier great but I wonder if they were worth the price. They're very detailed but also small, and all three are exactly the same, which makes me believe I'd be happy with one, if it came with the Darth Maul. I guess SS chose to sell it seperately because Maul was already up to it's ears in accessories.

I got the Darth Maul last week as a gift from Sideshow at Toy Fair (very generous of them!) - my first Sideshow 12" and I've gotta say that I absolutely love it.

$50 is still more than I can justify for a 12" figure - but I'm very tempted to start ordering all of these... they certainly blow Hasbro's out of the water in terms of quality.
