Nice!! I do not display my playsets. They take up too much room. I really like the way you have your Simpson Toys displayed. Here is how I have my figures.

I pretty much have them in order from when they came out.

Cool! Is this an exclusive or will it be a wide release set?

This weekend at the mall I stopped into Electronic Boutique and they had series 12 of figures for $5.99 each. I did not buy them yet. I will soon.

Wave #12 is at Target in Indianapolis!!! I picked up all six; Mr. Plow Homer, Don Vittorio, Mr. Largo, Luann Van Houten, Database, and Number One. They did not have the Bart Treehouse with Military Bart.
This series has the Mail Away Be Sharp Skinner.

Happy Hunting.

3- database, homer, luann, number one, vittorio, burns

Today on my lunch break I stopped into Target and picked up the re-issue Moe. He is the same as the previous release just with a different paint scheme. He is blue in color instead of the white and grey.

Same accessories.

They had X2 of Moe and X1 or X2 of the rest of Series #12. No Mr. Burns. :(

On the back of the Moe card it shows Moe and Mr. Burns. I noticed it does not show them on the back of the regular series #12 figures.

Well anyways here is what he looks like on card. I have not opened him yet. I will do that later today.

This past weekend I opened up Wave 12 and was a little underwhelmed to be honest.  The highlight for me was Mister Plow, most of the characters were not high on my wishlists I guess.  Wave 13 and 14 look very cool though

Also word today that the 300th Episode Playset was canceled (thank the Lord, that thing sucked)  :-*  I was going to buy it but I wasn't happy about it

I'm relieved.  Not much in that list that appeals to me at all.  No new Homers, I'm good.  Can't say I'm terribly dissappointed in the cancellation of the 300th set either.

There are actually 20 or so figures I still want...which could put us well into 2005.  Some of the Wave 13 stuff like Hawking, Mrs Lovejoy, Miss Hoover, Princess Kashmir etc are neat, some of the stuff is barrell scraping.  And Cory, you've been saying that since Wave 7 or 8  :-*

I think that the Simpsons has another two years or so before they run out of characters to make. You can only re-do a character so many times. Thus placing re-issues into the new assortments.
Speakin gof Re-Issues, here is the re-issued MR. Burns.
I picked him up at Toys-R-Us for $5.99.

If they do continue the Simpson's Line I wonder if they will go the way of Hasbro ans start to make deluxe figures or something? That would be scarry.

Well, I am a Simpson's fan and I will always be. If the toy line contiunes for a long time the better, if not, oh well. It has had a great run so far.

Question to all you folks who have done the mail aways (I haven't yet).

How much time did it take you to get them? Did any of you get two? I think I have enough for two of them with series 10, and MAYBE even series 11 (although I heard the playsets don't count).

Did you send the points for two in one envelope or multiples.....?

Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Jango Fettish on May 29, 2003, 06:43 PM
I guess I shoulda read this a little sooner, Scott.   :-[

Alison and I decided to part ways with our collection as of yesterday. We had a blast collecting, but I don't think I can keep up, and it just kind of lost it's luster.

Besides, I'm spreading myself thin over Marvel Legends, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and random figures.

I'm using the funds from the sale of my collection to invest in my online Auto Accessories business, which is really doing well.  :D

I ended up throwing away my Ghost Rider. He just didn't pose right off of his bike, and I broke his hands off. Had to make room for my X2 Nightcrawler anyway.  :P

Whens the next wave coming out, and does it include Blade 2 or Gambit???

Zellers, a local Canadian chain that approximates K-mart down south (actually, they took over a bunch of Kmarts when it folded in Canada) has decided to start carrying Simpsons figs for the first time.  Great news, right?  Wrong, they brought in wave 10 which has been warming the pegs at local TRUs for months ::) >:(

And speaking of B-sharps...

I took a closer look the other day at the peg warming Series 10 Simpsons.  I was thinking maybe another Homer for trade bait.  To my dismay the packaging is bilingual (aka Canadian) and there is no promo insert for the mail away.  Now, I knew that like always they only deliver to the US but there is no insert at all or mention of the promotion.  Quite surprising.

The stuff is just sitting.  TRU had it months ago and it's priced at $12.99 Cdn.  Even Hank Scorpio is just sitting there. ::)

I had a question for you Simpsons collectors.  I have never collected this line (although it looks great), but have always wanted to pick up a few here and there.  One that I want the most is a Ralph Wiggum...and I was curious what a decent price was for this figure.  Should I just look through the ebay auctions, or is now a bad time to go after this figure?  Also, what is the best (and hopefully not overpriced) version of Homer to get.  Those are my two favorite characters, and I thought about trying to pick them up to have them on my desk.  Thanks for any advice!
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread

If you want a generic Homer there are really only 2

Wave 1 version (http://www.simpsonscollectors.com/wospdb/figure.asp?fig=F0001) $8-$15 carded
Treehouse of Horror 2 Version (http://www.simpsonscollectors.com/wospdb/figure.asp?fig=F0057) $50-$70 (includes Kang and Kodos the aliens)

Ralph (http://www.simpsonscollectors.com/wospdb/figure.asp?fig=F0032)  Was in Wave 4 of 2001 and is selling for around $15-$20

On another topic, I need some advice for the more Simpsonian types in the crowd.  I've got some loose stuff to sell off and want to ask reasonable prices for it.  I'd likely do that over at SCS but don't want to go over there and look like a greedy pig.

I have the following to sell, you will note they are all essentially stuff that came with a Homer but no longer do ;).  Please tell me fair prices:

Lurleen with trailer environment MIB
New Year's Eve environment
High School environment
Living Room from Christmas set
Kitchen environment from Muu muu Homer set

Marge (Christmas)
Marge (High School)
Marge (New Year's Eve)

Lisa (Christmas)
Lisa (New Year's Eve)

Bart (Christmas)
Bart (New Year's Eve)

Bongo Apu
Bongo Edna

Thank you for that.  I hadn't thought of it, but it doesn't really give me an idea.

As I am keeping the Homers, they wouldn't be considered complete (obviously) and I'm just trying to unload some of the bits I don't need.  I don't have the packaging for most anyway.

Perhaps I'll just peruse the old BST sections.

Also, if anyone has an extra UPC from series 11 I'd happily take it off your hands (need one more for Apu but Jeff doesn't want any of the other series 11 figures, which is good since I can't find them anymore anyways  :P).

Anybody interested in those mini things from the Canadian cereal?  I know, things is soooo descriptive, but the Simpsons fans will know what I'm talking about.

I'm really only after the Homer, so I'll likely end up with Bart's galore and some spares of the others.  Unfortunately for me these are the same brands of cereal that had the goofy little star wars rubick's cubes in them, so more Raisin Bran on the way.

Regular, I will be :-\

The Simpson 2-packs are showing up at Target ($9.99) and Toys-R-Us ($12.99)  in Indy.

Set #1 - Homer, Marge, and Maggie (Not a two pack but...)
Set #2 - Millhouse and Krusty
Set #3 - Apu and Grampa

I also finally found Herman with the Military Shop at Target for $19.99 not $24.99 like at TRU.

Either I am ahead of the game way too much or I think Simpsons collecting has reached a new all time low in terms of Buzz.

These sets have always been THE thing to have each year since THOH2...

the SCS is basically dead in the WOS section, Wave 11-13 sits on the pegs for days, nobody seems to care a ton about this exclusive

Weirdola
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread

Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Morgbug on September 17, 2003, 03:39 PM
Beth, I may be able to help you out with B-Sharp Homer.  Not sure, but in the mess that I call my office, I may have the appropriate four UPC's necessary.  I'm not back there until Friday though, so I'll let you know then.  I may also be able to help you with the Wave 13 stuff.  Thanks to Scott's generosity in sending me stuff I don't want (trying to lure me into WOS beyond my little world of Homer).

Scott's comments are worrisome.  I don't want this line to stop, even though I'm not its biggest supporter.  I know there are two more Homers coming and I want those bad boys.  I think not having a classic THOH with Homer is damaging.  Not that this one is not kewl, just lacks good old Homey.  And after last year's THOH episode, they had so much to work with.
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Scott on September 17, 2003, 04:17 PM
I wouldn't say that put a headstone and start etching in 2004 jsut yet but the lack of interest is sorta disturbing long term.  As long as most of 2004 happens I'll be happy with what we have...little to nothing even on my wishlist would make me pissed that I never got it unlike LOTR
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: jadesfire on September 17, 2003, 04:53 PM
I was surprised to see wave 13 hanging on the pegs at Target last week but I assumed that they just got it in.   I was doubley (is that a word?) stunned that there were two Stephen Hawkings figures there as that was a tough one to get.

I like the individual figure line better than the exclusives that come with the 'environment' sets.  IMO, they could do without those all together.  Well, Moe's tavern is nice and there are a couple cool ones but it seems everytime I turn around they are making another obscure one and the prices are getting higher ($30.00 for the latest one!!).

PS:  Thanks Brent, I'll keep an eye on my pm's.

Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread

One reason SCS's WoS section is so slow is due to the absence of Markwars. He always generated conversation in that forum.

Now that we are getting more obscure characters, it seems the casual fans are not into the line anymore. I'll be satisfied as long as we make it through wave 15. Anything else I would consider a bonus. Though the thought of not having important characters like Maude and Akira would be a bummer.

GITDH went for over $100 last time I was watching :'(  Guy on the Canadian board has one, but looks like I'm not offering enough for it.

BTW, your information Scott about us getting wave 13 was bang on.  It's here and on the shelves along with the appropriate environment AND the two packs.  Turns out the Homer figure in the (three pack with Marge and Maggie) is actually slightly different from the original.  I know this because the Series 1 Homer was hanging on the pegs too ::)  That's the second time it's been helpful.  Weird, eh?

The future Burns playset arrived on my door step today and I think my son will really like this one.  Cool characters (he loves Mr Burns) and several phrases.  It's a Christmas present so I can't say much more about it other than it looks good in the box!!

On a side note, did anyone mail away for the Be-sharp figures?  I sent out for four of the them in September and none of the checks have been cashed and nothing has been received.  Did they run out?

But, I did receive some big mailer just recently for a giant Christmas in Springfield setup/playset, complete with figures, light-up accessories, and all kinds of stuff.  Not sure on the scale, but I'd guess it's a little smaller than the standard figure line.  Has anyone else gotten this, or is this something new and exciting that I should share some more info on?

Yeah they've been spotted at EB Games around here, I preorder from Newforce so I don't check,  I think this line is in as much trouble as MOTU though, not many retailers are carrying it anymore :-\

In Indy it looks like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Targets are no longer stocking Simpson toys. :(
I guess it is up to Toys-R-Us, EB Games, internet.

I picked up the new wave of figures but have not seen the powerplant with Frank Grimes. So I will pick that up later.
Also mailed out for StoneCutter Lenny

Although I was never able to collect this line, I see (via SimpsonsCollectors.com) that the line might be coming to an end.  This is the news that was posted over there:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: We have confirmation of this news. We will have word from Playmates on the exact details of the last series later this week.

All good things must end. Rumors have been circulating about the future of the WoS line and now a reliable source has given us new information from inside Fox. It appears that Playmates' license with Fox to produce Simpsons merchandise will terminate at the end of this year. This will mean the end of the World of Springfield line and other Simpsons items produced by Playmates. The info we were given says the plan is to have one (or possibly two) more series of WoS and a final THOH set for TRU. Keep in mind that while we are confident in our source, this information has not been officially confirmed by Playmates yet. We will be contacting them with questions soon.

Yeah I read that last night, not surprised, I am surprised that they aren't planning on releasing Series 17 and 18 though, that sorta sucks :(, I am very happy with this line probably top 3 all time in my book (behind Joe and SW) in sheer joy, cool figs, great features, diverse list of figures etc etc etc, not too mention The Simpsons being the best TV show of all time, its a sad day but somewhat satisfying that its over

Yea, doesn't look like we will see series 17. Michael Crawford is trying to get us a few single chipless exclusives like Maude. There is also a chance we will still see THOH 5.

Overall I have been very happy with this line. When I first started buying these figures I would of never guessed we would get characters like Disco Stu and Manjula.  :)

Found the Lunch Room with Frank Grimes today at Toys-R-Us. All Simpsons Enviroments are on sale for $19.98. Not too bad.

Now to wait for the last wave of figures.

I have all the Simpson figures and environments except for the mail-away Radio Active Homer.

It is a shame that the line is now ending. We got a good haul out of it though.

I'm sure having mixed emotions...I opened my Wave 15 stuff on Sunday.  Space Homer might be the best figure in the whole line...plus he comes with Mr Teenie!

But, my dollar can only go so far and I've gone a little psycho with 5 different lines hardcore.  Its time to stop, I'm glad its done.  I have no regrets and am proud of my collection!

I took down all of my playsets yesterday...freed up two shelves worth of stuff and I like how they look now on the spice racks than before mishmashed through the 20 different environments...I'll try and get pics later this week  I left enough room for 11-14 more figures which is there should be:

THOH5
Squishy Bart
Agnes Skinner
Devil Homer
Artie Ziff
Doug
Benjamin
Gary
Stonecutter Lenny
Jebidiah Springfield
Maude Flanders (HOPEFULLY)

The end is near :-\ :) :'(

Is there any word on THOH5?  I'm hoping for a return of, yep, you guessed it, Home to the THOH set.  I may relent and get the set of openers for the series 16.  Still needing DS Homey.
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Morgbug on March 26, 2004, 01:52 PM
Does your Deep Space Homer fall over?  I find the stance on this to be odd.  Some are a little wobbly, but this version is positively teetering over backwards.  Space sickness?  Decrease in bone density?  Crappy sculpt?
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Scott on March 26, 2004, 01:56 PM
He has a strange foot (angeled I think), you really need to work with his arms to get him to stand right
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Morgbug on March 26, 2004, 02:41 PM
Nah, just put him at the back of the display and lean him on THOH2 :-*  Just too much like an effort to get him to do otherwise.  The foot is angled, like he's taking a step.

Hope he watches out for hockey pucks. ;)
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Boba Binks on March 30, 2004, 08:21 AM
If you put Homer's helmet on and move his arms out in front a bit he will stand just fine. The falling over is kind of crappy. But nothing is perfect. Have to expect some slacking since the line is ending. :(
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Scott on March 30, 2004, 01:58 PM
Dang..no Maude :'(

Those who have been keeping up in our WoS discussion forum have heard the latest news on WoS we have from Playmates: Series 16 and the Town Square set are indeed the final WoS product, except for a possible THOH 5 set this Fall. The results for the 'Save Maude' poll were very positive (and we thank you all for supporting it), but unfortunately it was too late. Due to complicated licence issues beyond their control, Playmates will not be able to do any more new sculpts at all. This is likely upsetting to all WoS collectors, but the WoS line had an amazing run (one of the best of all time, in our humble opinion) and we want to thank Playmates Toys for the toys and the memories. Stay tuned to SCS in the coming months for the latest news and Series 16 sightings.

Also...you can vote on which THOH5 you would prefer...

Vote Here (http://pub165.ezboard.com/fthesimpsonscommunity71818frm20.showMessage?topicID=43.topic)

Looks like #1 is the runaway favorite (and what I voted for!)

1 - The Haunted Mansion that includes the following figures: House of Evil Shopkeeper (Frogurt Guy), Vampire Krusty, Werewolf Flanders, Jack in the Box Homer and Raven Bart

or

2 - The House of Pain that includes the following figures: Marge as a cat, Bart as a Spider, Maggie as an anteater, Lisa as a bird, Homer as a Walrus and Dr. Hibbert with Mr. Burns as a fox around his neck.
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Morgbug on March 30, 2004, 03:22 PM
I'm guessing a five pack of various THOH Homers would be out of the question? :-\

I'd be happy with either of the versions to be honest.  I was very, very disappointed with THOH4 having no Homer figure.  To me it just doesn't fit with the rest of the THOHs.

Vampire Krusty and Werewolf Flanders are classics and would display well with the spooky lightups.  I also like the Bart as a Raven figure, make a nice pair with the Fly version.

At the same time I really like the Homer as a Walrus, spider bart (the spider ate the fly???) and Burns fox/stoll (sp?).

Two more Homers (with GITDH still MIA) :'(  RIP

Oh...no I don't >:(  I got three of the six I needed, Super Skrull, Red Skull and Ultron. Still need Punisher, Venom and Black Bolt, I think I'll just pick them up on eBay and sell all of my doubles and triples and quadruples (which are around 50 in all :o)

Not sure...I think I do though.  Not your fault such is the nature of these little bastards.  I think I can resist the Simpsons ones or else just buy a complete set and save some $$$  Although rare singles sell for around $3-$4 a piece which almost pays for a pack itself
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Morgbug on April 3, 2004, 12:15 AM
Well, I'm doing ok resisting right now, but since you sent me a spidey one and I picked up a Black Cat ::)....

Hope you do resist the Simpsons or do it otherwise, but I really would like to watch the mayhem with a Star Wars series.  Maybe we're not the target age group though :-*

THOH5 ::)

Over 80% of the people voted for the other version (Werewolf Flanders, Frogurt Guy, Jack in the Box Homer, Raven Bart and Vampire Krusty)

And yet Playmates decides to go with this set.  Not that I won't buy it, I guess the other one too me and a lot of other people was a lot better (I think variants were way over done in this line...and we actually got a new figure in the other set)
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Boba Binks on April 15, 2004, 09:17 PM
The last set for the Simpsons and they blew it! The Mananimals are not cool. I was really hoping they would go for the Jack In The Box Homer, Raven Bart, Alien Maggie, Vampire Krusty, Werewolf Flanders, the Frogurt Guy, and a wacky Snowball II that were planned. That would of made a much better set. But I always say be happy with what they put out. They did not have to make it in the first place.
So sad to see this line end...
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Morgbug on April 16, 2004, 01:28 AM
Hmmph, I think I stated previously that I was in favor of the version they actually picked?  Man, am I fickle, now I'm not so pleased.

Homer is fine, I would have taken either.  Bart as a spider is great as a complement to the first THOH Bart as the Fly.  SPider and the fly.  Sorry, twisted sense of humor.

The jack in the box Homer was less appealing to me than the Walrus, but Bart as the Raven was an all time classic.  I love Poe and it would have been great to have Homer in his smoking jacket with Bart as the Raven (yes, I know this wasn't the plan, but I can dream).  Maggie, Marge and Lisa are all ebay fodder for me anyway.  Maggie goes to Jim's wife, the other two for sale.

That is good to hear that some are going to be re-released, I hadn't heard that yet.  I always wanted to get a couple Simpsons figures, like a "regular" Homer and a Ralph Wiggum.  Hopefully those will be a couple that find their way to the shelves.  Too bad this line is ending, especially for those of you who have collected throughout, but it kind of looks like they have covered almost everyone...pretty good run.

So I walked into my local EB today looking for the Mega Man Collection Gamecube game and got lucky and scored all six series 16 figures. Feels kind of strange knowing that there aren't any new figures coming out, and that that was the last time I'll ever walk out of a store with a stack of figures. I'm still glad this line is ended, I'm more than pleased with how long it managed to last, and being a completist it's gonna be nice on the wallet not having to drop any more cash on this line. Once I find the Town Square playset I'll be 100% complete!

Quick question for you Simpsons collectors.  I have always been interested and tempted to pick up a few (just a few) figures from this line.  I know that it has now been cancelled, but I was checking the Simpsons Collector Sector page today, and noticed an (older) news blurb about them re-releasing some of the earlier figures (main-ish characters).  I was curious if this was still going to happen, or if I should go on ebay if I do decide to get a few figures?

This is the article (http://www.simpsonscollectors.com/news.asp?id=1340) is was talking about.  Thanks!

Very sad, it is.  Not sure what to do with myself these days.  Scaling back in so many ways, now down to selective McFarlanes (maybe 1 per series), an occasional LOTR and every shred of SW available ::)

I do wish this line had continued, even without the voice chips.  I was looking forward to Sasquatch Homer and a final THOH set :-\

Yeah, I wasn't ever really able to get into this line, although there have always been a few figures I wouldn't mind having sitting on the desk here (Homer for sure, maybe Ralph, Bart, etc.)  It seemed like a "fun" line to collect too, and if I hadn't had as much $ wrapped into Star Wars, I might have considered it more.  It is however, sad to see it come to an end.  But, congratulations Scott, even though it is a little sad, it has to be satisfying to have a true "complete" set, and knowing you are done.  Although you don't ever really want to see lines end, there is a part of me that thinks it is satisfying knowing that you have the whole works, or that you aren't continually getting further behind with each wave release.  Cheers to the Simpsons line, they had a good run.

I was a little bit worried about the set because Newforce was not allocated their full order amount AND they were right smack dab at the heart of whole Ivan mess last week, they got most of the sets out of there in time and then hauled ass out of town.  Seems like they are OK but no word on how their building fared

STill ordering from Newforce :o  Rick's a good guy, but they sure seem to get the shaft on their order allocations and from more than one company.  I'd like to order more from him, but just can't count on them :-\

Soon Homer shall be complete...

Yeah they are pretty much the only game in town for Simpsons besides AFX and EE and they charge tons more, I think he's got a good relationship with Playmates and was able to keep his orders fairly well with them

For some reason Hasbro has continually screwed all of their E-tail accounts over and he gets the worst of it

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet, but Michael's Review of the Week has a lengthy feature up on the World of Springfield line.  I haven't gotten all the way through it yet, but it looks like a good read.  I believe he also has a couple Simpsons reviews up today as well.  This is a line I really regret not picking up a few along the way, and wouldn't mind having some of the main ones...particularly Homer and maybe the "main" family.  Hopefully those re-releases will come to light eventually.  Anyways, you can check out the feature HERE (http://www.mwctoys.com/FEATURE_101104a.htm)

Anyone else been finding Wave 1 from 2000 for $2.95 at their TRU clearance aisle?  It caught my eye when I saw a bunch of Krusty figures hanging there, then Bart with Santa's little helper.

Are these really 4 year old stock, or have they been rereleased?

I heard they were supposed to re release the old figures, so that might be what you saw.  Did the packaging look like the old packaging?

I sorted it out myself today.  I went to the clearance aisle and checked out the package, it's 2000 - old packaging.  In the new Simpsons figures section, the packaging says 2004.  I think it's just old stock that never got out.  Or maybe a scalper returned his stash  :o

Although most of you already have what you need for this line, I was just reading over at SimpsonCollectorsSector that the re-releases have been showing up at TRU around the country for the non-clearance price of $2.95.  Seems like a pretty good deal.  I didn't check our store last time I was in there, but might have to take a look and see if they have a Homer or possibly some others.  Have any of you seen these at your local TRU, and for that price?

Meh, we'll see.  Depends what they look like.  The idea of a boxed set, perhaps like the Kiss or Motley Crue sets doesn't do much for me.   Too much $$ for me to spend on something like that.

Any sign of the bust ups yet?  I only want a Homer bust up to fill out the collection, so if anyone sees them ;)
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Morgbug on January 20, 2005, 04:40 PM
In strange news, TRU actually dropped the price on something.  In this case it was the Military Antiques Shop from $39.95 down to $12.98, so just a shade over $14 after taxes, much more palatable, so I picked it up.  Didn't really care for it and still don't, but it's the only playset I own that I can hook Stephen Hawking into, so it was necessary.  Anyone have a loose Barney they're not using ;)

I see that the first wave of the Bust Ups (which Brent posted above) is supposedly out now, at least somewhere, according to 16bit.com.  Apparently Wave 2 is set for a Spring release with a "fun with food" theme, including Chief Wiggum, Apu, Sanjay, Bart, Marge, and Homer.  I'm slightly tempted by these, just because I kick myself for missing out on the regular Simpsons figure line.  I'd still like to go on ebay and see if I can't find a Homer, but maybe the prices are higher now.  I might have to take a look, this has reminded me that I always wanted to get a few of the figures.  Anyone buying in on these bust ups?

Cool, hopefully I can find these somewhere when I'm down in Florida.

As for kicking yourself Brian, I think you should be patting yourself on the back instead.  Not much has held it's value and if you're looking for loose figures, many you'll find below cost.  Some of the Treehouse of Horror sets have held their value (I-III) and the GITDH Homer is up there, otherwise you can snag full series sets of loose figures for $10-15.

Playsets are similarly cheap.  A store near my work has Dr. Nick Riviera's playset for $4 CAD.  Man, that's tempting.

After seeing THOH last night I'm missing the WSOS line again.  Lots of potential from last night and still a ton of great THOH figures that were never made in the first place.

I have to confess to some cynicism while watching previous THOH episodes - in many cases I viewed them as I had much of Star Wars, as a big ad for future toys.  Nice to see the last part of the show with so many potential toys and no line to put them out in.  Not that I wouldn't buy them if they came out.

I've always liked the Treehouse of Horror episodes, but they aren't always my favorite toys (except for Kang and Kodos, which I don't have).  I'm glad the last planned THOH set wasn't made, as it didn't seem like such a great idea.

THOH 16 was ok, but not a classic. Still, I started cracking up with the appearance of the Herbie Hancock "Rockit" robots in the AI segment.  Haha.
Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread
Post by: Morgbug on November 8, 2005, 10:52 AM
I loved the first THOH set, some of my favorite figures from the line.  Kang and Kodos rocked as well.  The third THOH set wasn't the greatest and the fourth just outright sucked.  I don't remember the planned fifth set any longer, though I remember the controversy over the choices.  I wasn't opposed to it, mostly because it had a Homer in it (something the fourth set didn't).

I still contemplate picking up more figures from the WOS line though, mostly because they are so remarkably cheap now.

Title: Re: Official Simpsons Toys Thread

Yeah, that rings a bell visually.  I'd have been happy with the Homer but the rest are meaningless to me, as with all Simpsons playsets I typically unloaded the remainder of the figures so I was just left with Homer.  THOH1 is an exception because I love those characters.  THOH2 was all about Kang and Kodos (3 was donut homer, or do I have 2/3 mixed up?) and the Homer was just a bonus, a series 1 Homer with a resculpted head.

SIMPSONS BOXED SET -- Ironic Punishment - March 2006

SIMPSONS BOXED SET: Couch Gag -- May 2006

SIMPSONS SERIES 1 -- Treehouse of Horrors

SIMPSONS BOXED SET - no details given

SIMPSONS BOXED SET: Christmas -- November 2006 (who moved Christmas to November?)

Post by: Morgbug on January 26, 2007, 02:31 PM
There are some packaging photos of the inserts over at spawn of series one now.  Not sure about these now, I'll have to see them when they arrive.  I'm still inclined to the THOH set and it appears to be coming out in the early fall, a suitable release time.

It's interesting to see how much series one of the figures changed from this:

Quote
SIMPSONS SERIES I:
Dr. Hibbert, Mr. Burns & Comic Book Guy
Homer & Marge
Bart, Lisa & Maggie
Flanders & Squeaky-voiced Teen
Snake & Otto
Disco Stu & Krusty

to
Homer and Bart Why you little...
Homer and Bart Simple Simpson
Krusty and Bart Kamp Krusty
Marge and Homer In the belly of the boss
Itchy and Scratchy Spay Anything

I think that first set was supposed to be THOH themed too.

Still haven't seen the couch gag on sale, so haven't bought it yet.  I don't expect the figures to reach clearance, so I'll have to decide in fairly short order considering how few figures stores are bringing in of the Hanna Barbera stuff (and rightly so, they're not moving well even if they are cool).
Title: Re: The Simpsons
Post by: Morgbug on April 2, 2007, 04:07 PM
Has anyone picked these up and done a comparison between the WOS and the McFarlane stuff?  I've seen them in stores but haven't bought the sets with Homer yet, though I'm still planning on it.  There are few enough of these around and I don't expect an overly long/productive run for McFarlane on this line that I don't think it's going to become a space/$$ issue.  Just curious to hear others impressions on these.

I can say that there are relatively few showing up in stores as the ordering folks seem very, very cautious with McFarlane product these days.

As an aside, I bought a couple of chocolate bars at the office I work in today.  The usual parents selling stuff for their kids fundraisers (which could rate a pet peeve if it weren't done in such an innocuous, low pressure way around here and were I not guilty as well) stuff.  I was joking to one of the admins and an upper management type that maybe I should try for the 300 pound disability target.  The admin just sort of chuckled but the upper management type gave me a very stern look and suggested, quite seriously, that I should contemplate the potential health impacts such a plan might have ::)  At what level do they lobotomize people because I don't want to get there.
Title: Re: The Simpsons
Post by: Morgbug on April 4, 2007, 09:59 PM
To answer my own question, they are smaller than the WOS figures and sufficiently out of scale as to not be a great match.  But they are well enough done that I don't feel bad about picking up the three sets with Homer in them.  They are static as McFarlane stuff tends to be but are well painted and look quite nice, so they'll fit nicely off to the side of the WOS display.  Oh, and Marge looks hot in her white bathing suit :-X

I'm in the same boat.  I grabbed the Couch Gag set as well, figuring that if I couldn't get anything else - I'd at least have the main family to display.  The other stuff looks kind of neat too, although I really don't need to find money/space for more stuff at this point ;).
Title: Re: The Simpsons
Post by: Morgbug on April 12, 2007, 03:34 PM
I still haven't found the Couch Gag set on clearance, so I haven't bought it yet.  I'm not into the family as a whole, so I don't feel pressed to get it.  I'm aiming for a $10 CAD price at some point down the road, same as I think I paid for Ironic Punishment.  Did pay full price for the most recent figures, simply because there are so few on the pegs and the Simple Simpson seems to be overpacked in the mix.  I figured if I waited I could get that on clearance, but by the time it does I'll have spent so much on gas it'd be pointless.
Title: Re: The Simpsons

Title: Re: The Simpsons

Not to scale relative to what? :P  I know, WOS.  For me it wasn't so much an issue.  I'll tuck them off to the side, separated by the Ironic Punishment set, which strikes me as more to scale, though I haven't seen it in months, so that might be wishful thinking.
Title: Re: The Simpsons

Pearson?  Hello?  Pearson?

Buying into any of the movie figures?  How about the BK toys, which fire up in about a week or so?

I think I'll continue getting the Homer figures as they come along, I think there are two movie figures from McFarlane that have Homer in them.  Sound too, sort of harkening back to the WOS stuff, scale notwithstanding of course.

As for the BK toys, I'm not sure if I'll bother with an entire set or not.  There are some regular sets available on ebay for $25 and shipping so not too terribly far off what I'd pay up here by chasing them all down and having to eat that food, so maybe a good deal?   I see there are gold chase versions as well ::)  I expect I'll try and track down the gold Homer and maybe the gold Burns as well, but we'll see.

As an aside, TRU up here has severely cut back on carrying just about everything McFarlane, even the hockey figures.  I think the McFarlane days might be dwindling in general.

Still no couch gag set for me.  No clearance = no buy (and yes, I know I'm helping kill the line with that attitude).
Title: Re: The Simpsons
Post by: Brian on July 19, 2007, 12:40 PM
I guess I didn't realize there were going to be BK Simpsons toys.  I took a look on ebay, and it looks like there are 16 in total?  Is there any clear pictures of them, aside from the auction pics?  Might be kind of neat to pick up, but like you said Brent, I'd probably just opt for ebay as well instead of eating there upteen times.

BK really has gone nuts with the movie toys since the ROTS success haven't they?  Hasn't there been Spidey, Fan 4, Transformers, and now Simpsons this summer alone?
Title: Re: The Simpsons
Post by: Morgbug on July 19, 2007, 01:07 PM
There were spidey toys at BK?  I'm still scarred by the ROTS fiasco and I didn't even eat there that much.

I didn't know there were toys coming until I picked up one of the McFarlane movie toys (Homer in movie theater) and tucked in the bottom was an insert for the toys at BK.  I don't think any really good pics exist as most are scans of that same insert I think.  I know some ebay sellers say they have them in hand, but better pics haven't circulated much it would seem.  I was poking around at SCS.com last night and they had a scan up but it wasn't much of an improvement.

I think up here though they sell the toys for around $1.87-2.00 each, so those ebay deals are a bargain for me.  I'll wait for better pics before deciding on the full set though.  Hopefully some of the gold Homer figures show up at decent prices.

You are right though Brian, BK has really been into the movie based toys in a big way, everything except Disney which seems to have become McD fare for a long time.  BK had a pretty neat set of LOTR toys as well and I think that complete set might even still fetch a pretty price on ebay.

Yeah, I just saw them online HERE (http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=10897).  It looks like it was a few Spideys, and then the baddies from SM3.  I was burnt out from running to BK each week from ROTS, that I passed on them as well - thinking that if I really wanted them I could pick them up on ebay.  I was fortunate during the Star Wars run of these toys that I found a BK that would just sell me the toys, without any food.  I ended up eating one meal at Burger King during that entire run - and that was the very first week of the toys.  That was fortunate.  Even so, I started feeling a little silly going into that BK each week saying "I just want to buy this week's Star Wars toys".

Around here, the stores don't require you to buy anything so I just get the toys. I've done this for a few of their promotions and at multiple places too. I can't wait til the Simpsons stuff hits, i'm tired of going to 7-11 everyday for sandwiches and Squishees in their promotion.  :P

Different scale = Pass

Still have my old stuff, the thought of organizing, photographing and shipping over 200+ items makes me queazy

I figured you hadn't changed your stance on these.  They're not badly sculpted at all and I've been fortunate in finding well painted pieces, so I think they're pretty nice.  The scale issue is still there, no doubt, but it's getting to the point where there's enough material that it's not that different from having Unleashed and regular SW figures on display, though the difference in scale is smaller.  Of course you don't vary out in scale regardless, correct?

As for selling your stuff, I stick by my old opinion that you shouldn't do it.  WOS has been one of the lines I really associate with you and has been since I've known you.  If you did, wouldn't it be just as easy to sell the common stuff over at SCS.com where you're pretty well known I'd think and then ebay the stuff that'll actually generate some return, like the B-sharps and other exclusives?  That'd reduce the amount of listing and photo taking.

It's interesting too that you're willing to part with that stuff.  I haven't seen my Simpsons stuff for probably two years.  It's in a box that's taped shut and at the bottom of my huge stack of boxes.  I've gone through the SW stuff a ton of times and moved all those boxes, pulling out stuff to get rid of, but the Simpsons stuff just never enters into the equation of being thinned out.  Obviously I have a fair bit less stuff than you, since it's only really stuff with Homer associations like all the figures and then some playsets but that's still a significant amount of stuff, probably 40-50 figures total.  I really look forward to having that stuff displayed.

I picked up the Island of Dr. Hibbert box set from McFarlane yesterday :o

It was a great deal, my comic shop was charging less for this than the Itchy and Scratchy box set that's recent.  It's huge and looks amazing in the box though I'll likely open it and split it up to sell off parts since I'm only really interested in Homer walrus and Bart spider.

I know these aren't to scale with the WOS stuff but this piece is really, really nicely done.  For $30 I couldn't pass on it.

I just spent the entire last two days sorting and picturing over 200+ Simpsons Figures.  Its killing me to think of parting with them but there is no space and my interest in The Simpsons is about as low as it ever has been...so now is the right time.

I should have everything up for auction by next weekend I think because it will take that long to sort pictures and write up the auctions.

I also wanted to give myself a pat on the back, I only lost one accessory out of all of the figures and playsets that are out there, a Mic Stand for Tuxedo Krusty.  I'll probably make a folder here at JD for posterity :-[

:'(
You know, I was really sad Saturday, mainly because I hadn't looked at them in almost 2.5 years and yesterday I was melancholy, today, I'm looking forward to getting back some money.  Based on loose auctions I should more than get back what I paid out...which will be nice :)

After that I have the Hurculean task of LOTR stuff which is a little better organized but just as much a pain in the butt

I have to echo Brent's  :'(, its kind of sad to see you part with them Scott.  Its really a nice looking collection (same with LOTR).  I can't say I don't envy you a little bit though.  After reorganizing things and trying to find room for new stuff, I really just collect too many lines at this point.  I don't have much room left, and I think I'm going to have to have the guts to unload something at some point as well...or at least pack it away.  Best of luck on your sales though, hope they all go well.

That you should get back more than you paid is awesome news Scott.  It sounds like you've timed it well then because not that long ago (last summer) I was watching entire loose series' go for $10 total.  That was depressing to say the least, though I picked up a few pieces rather cheaply.

LOTR is probably my most significant toy regret to be honest.  I think those toys were extremely well made for a very reasonable price.  But.... I just didn't need to own those. Fortunately I really only ever obtained about 20 figures in total, so it's not too painful.

Still, I'm really sad to see you selling off that collection.  I've always really liked that display and for me I have no intention of parting with the Simpsons stuff I own.  Thankfully I only really chased after Homers and a couple of odd characters like Stephen Hawking and Hank Scorpio.  Plus the THOH stuff of course, but I still enjoy those pieces.  There's a few pieces I never got that I wish I did (comic book guy) and a few pieces I could have done without (Mr. Burns) but I'm ok.

I'm still buying the McFarlane stuff for the Homers, though not all of them.  It's funny seeing your pics though, I'd completely forgotten they did the Devil Homer.  I just picked up the McFarlane Devil/Angel Homer set because I thought they were both new.  Half new I guess instead.

Good luck with the sales though, I hope it works out really well for you.

From what I've seen (and this is generally ture whatever you do) Lots sell like crap, most of the exclusives and Playset Figures will fetch top dollar and balance out the Series 10 Wendells and Series 12 Mr Largos.  Also the tail end stuff is still going for well above retail.

What I am not looking forward too, shipping lots and lots of boxes. Thanks for the well wishes guys and the condolences

Just out of curiosity, if I may ask, what made you decide to part with the collections (Simpsons/LOTR)?  Also, are you keeping anything from either one?

Pretty simple I went from this much space:

To this:

I hadn't even unpacked them since we moved 2+ years ago

I also have pretty much lost all interest in the show so while I loved the trip down memory lane, I'll be happier with the moolah :)

Ah, good reason, that makes sense.  The old space issue is always a problem, and one I'm facing now too.  That's why I'm giving so much thought on picking up new lines like DCUC and GI Joe.  Those, combined with Star Wars, Marvel, and probably some Indy makes space a premium.  I always say it, just too much nice stuff out there these days.
Title: Re: The Simpsons
Post by: Morgbug on January 28, 2008, 10:20 AM
I don't doubt the moolah will be most welcome.  Maybe you can use it for a road trip to Winnipeg.  Maybe August '08 :P

I'm itching to get my room done and finally start putting stuff out simply so I can figure out what I don't really want anymore.  I think of the sheer volume of stuff and it's simply overwhelming:

LOTR
Simpsons
McFarlane Simpsons
McFarlane Sportspicks
McFarlane movie maniacs stuff
Marvel Legends
DC Classics plus all the other DC stuff I have
Indiana Jones - vintage and modern to come
Master Replicas - helmets, FX sabers
Gentle Giant - maquettes, busts, statues
Kubricks
And a small quantity of Hasbro star wars items.

On and on it goes, so I'm really curious to see how much of it I'll part with.  As for the Simpsons, I haven't really watched the show in years - an episode here or there is about it - but I loves me some Homer.  He's such a wonderful mockery of society in general.

So?

How'd the selling go Scott?  Are ya rich?  What went for a lot?  What was the nicest surprise?  What was the most disappointing?  How much of a pain was it to ship all of that and where did you find all the boxes?

I'm not rich but I far exceeded my expectations which just gives me more incentive to purge out more of the basement ;D

Nicest Surprise...I knew it to be true but I was shocked at how much people paid for the last 5 Waves.  Also, almost 50% of the people are in Canada/South America/Spain.
Biggest Dissapointment...Some of the early Wave 3-6 stuff I thought was going to go higher than it did.  Also the playset figures went a little lower than I thought they would.
Shipping...I think out of close to 200 auctions there are 40 or so buyers.  So its not as bad as I thought it was going to be, it could have been better but I'm done packaging and just need to keep bothering my local Post office lady

I still have to sell the playsets...not sure how that will go yet but I hope some of them will sell

Had to dust off this thread due to the announcement of the Mark Hamill figure (along with other celebrities):

Yeah, I saw these a few weeks ago but didn't buy any since I don't have any of those Simpsons toys from the early 00s so they'd be out of place. I wish Hamill was in his Luke attire like he was in the episode he was in, but eh. Probably some Hasbro/copyright stuff they'd have had to deal with then.

Wow, we're lagging behind as I came across these for the very first time today.  Wave one finally showed up and while they were nice, I didn't want any of the celebrities from the series.  I did have to grab one figure though, to add to my Homer collection:

Picked up Mark Hamill today. Pretty cool. Really liked the Maggie in pink jumpsuit with her gut hanging out but passed. Great wave if your a Who fan. Kind of obnoxious to me to have three band members in the same wave.

So has anyone seen the upcoming Simpsons “Ultimates” figures up for preorder from Super 7? Along the same lines as their He-Man, Turtles, Thundercats, etc figures. Very well done, and quite cool, but fairly pricey. It looks like it could be a great line if Simpsons was really your thing though. I’ve gotten figures from some of their other lines, and they are very nicely done. Wave One is:

Astronaut Homer
Moe
Robo Itchy
Robo Scratchy
Poochie

I did see those, and thank goodness they're 7 inches because now I'm not as tempted to buy them since they won't fit in with any other lines I collect. That said, what an odd selection of characters. Nothing really goes together outside of the Itchy and Scratchyland robots. This feels more like something of a "Wave 3 or 4" selection of figures, if that makes any sense. I kind of wish they'd have just started out with the regular Simpson family.
