Title: The Halo 3 & Halo 3: ODST Thread
Post by: Nirvana on May 9, 2006, 05:02 PM
Yup...it's officially confirmed for a 2007 release. There's a trailer up at Bungie's web site (http://www.bungie.net) under the article titled "Halo 3". I have to say I'm pretty escited by this, looks like the MA5B assault rifle is back as well.

Well I hope it has a different storyline than Halo 1 Halo 2. ::)

I'm inclined to agree. I wish there had been some gameplay but those graphics looks ******' sick.

I can't wait until this game comes out.

Halo is about the only video game I play (and I'm not very good live,) however, I doubt I'll be getting the 360 just to play 3. :-X

The trailer didn't do much for me, but--then again--neither did Halo 2, so I guess that's to be expected.

Hopefully they'll get rid of all that "play as some weird alien that's not Master Chief for half the game!" bull**** for the new one.  Then I might be interested.

*jaw drops*...well, first let me say , I LOVE The halo series, so I'm probley gonna' give this trailer some praise......and I am...that was...AWESOME!...I truly can't wait till' halo 3 comes out.

I just saw the trailer. If anything, the imagery is gorgeous.
Title: Re: The Halo 3 Video Game Thread
Post by: Matt on May 11, 2006, 10:32 AM
I saw the trailer again last night, but on a friend's 50" HDTV.

Looks pretty, has a nice score, and that's about it.  Nothing much happens.  I'd like to see some gameplay--some action--but, assuming this doesn't come out until late 2007--still a year and a half away--they probably don't have a lot of gameplay footage ready to go right now.

So, I'd consider this trailer more a teaser than anything at this point.

Me too. I'm really digging the score as well, I just love the trumpets doining the Halo theme...but, then, again, I am a trumpet player, so that's to be expected.

Anyone catch the new trailer last night on MNF? I thought it was kinda cool seeing MC a a kid, but wondered why they felt it was neccesary to put that in there. Now I'm even more pysched for Halo 3 to be released, in hopefully less than a year from now.

BTW, if you missed it, here's a YouTube of the trailer (http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/category/halo-3/).

Aww ****, totally forgot last night about the trailer. :(

Right now I'm loading the trailer off of Xbox.com, for some reason it's taking forever...

EDIT- Just watched it. Hmm...not sure if it was MC as a kid, or just two kids wondering what's up in space...

I loved the transition from past to present during the battle, but a little confused what that thing he was he used...looked like a grenade of some sort, but didn't really make sense.

But how he lept of the ridge into the group of Elites was just amazing. I really can't wait for this game.

But how he lept of the ridge into the group of Elites was just amazing.

Upon closer examination, it looked like Brutes.

One of them looked like they had they had the Fist Of Rukt, which I so hope is not true, as it took me forever to finally kill Tartarus in that level.

Of course it was Chief as a kid - and the idea, was that as a kid he was wondering about beings from other planets, wishing he could meet them - but now he probably wishes he never had.

It was obvious right???

TONS of new screenshots over at IGN... (http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/imgs_1.html)

Those new Brutes look really weird. Wish they had kept the look of the H2 ones, for continuity's sake.

If you look, they are the same,(same size, same color, same heads) they just are all wearing elite armor by the looks of it, mind you heavily modded. I can't wait to pick up a Spiker, the stronger version of the needler.

So who has pre-ordered this bad boy?

About a week ago I pre-ordered the Limited Collector's Edition off Amazon. For $10 more than standard edition it's a great deal, and I am NOT paying $120 for another bonus disk and a helmet. I also picked up one of the Halo 3 Slurpee cups at 7-Eleven. Sadly, they didn't have the Game Fuel flavor. Next promotion, Master Chief meets the Burger King!

Microsoft is really pulling out their marketing guns for this launch. Slurpees, Mountain Dew, Burger King, what next? Pontiacs aimed at the target Halo demographic? Oh, wait...

18 days until The Day...

Bought and beat Halo for my new PC last year....Could care less about 2 or 3, but I'll get around to them some day.

Considering that you can pre-order your copy of Halo 3 at, of all places, 7-Eleven (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/04/halo-3-pre-order-at-7-eleven/), the standard version should be in very good supply pretty much everywhere.

The Limited and Legendary Editions may be a little tougher to come by after launch, but I think you can still pre-order any of the three, though.

Whether or not you are into everyone should check out the Believe, The John-117 Monument (http://halo3.com/believe/test/shell.html). That is one hell of an impressive diorama. I think it is hands down the best I've ever seen. They ran a short commercial featuring footage from the diorama during the Patriots and Chargers game last night. I wonder who gets to keep this sucker? Bill Gates maybe? :P

I'm sure it cost Microsoft a pretty penny to commission that one. I've cycled through this thing so many times now, I really like the videos and the first-person accounts. I think this could potentially be the best promotion I've ever seen for any movie or video game.

Only 7.5 more days now. I can't ******* wait. :)

Beat the campaign just a few minutes ago. I loved it, easily my favorite of the series. Spoilers below...

Loved how the end was a homage to the Maw. Although, needless to say, I'm glad there was no time limit.

The Flood were interesting. In Floodgate, they're fairly easy to kill. In the second to last level, they're much, much harder. I especially hated those wallcrawling scorpion/ranged guys. They really got on my nerves.

No! Miranda and Johnson die! It was nice to see Truth's ass handed to him, courtesy of good ol' Arby.

Make sure to stay tuned after the credits, there's a nice little scene if you're patient. Master Chief lives! Leaves a small possibility for another sequel, too.

Assault Rifle was neat to see back in the Chief's hands. Sucks that the clip had to be cut in half, same with the Boomstick. Gravity Hammer was amazing to use. I loved being able to blast away entire squads of Grunts and Jackals.  ;)

Played some Halo online with Ant this weekend. Can't wait to do that again.

So should we try to organize a JD Halo night?

Any nights not good?

I'm available for Tuesday and Friday nights as well as just about any time on Saturday with given notice.

Send me your gamertag by PM, I'll send you a friend request, then come Saturday, I'll set up a game to start and we can go from there. So there are no hard feelings, we can alternate who is party leader and that person can pick the location and game type.

Sound good?

Oh and I'll be on most nights this week, just later in the eve-around 9-11pm.

Alright alright.....you guys whittled me down....lol

My gamertag is: JediMasterSal 0

That's a space at the end followed by a zero.

I'll be on tonight for awhile. Planning on playing for quite awhile on Saturday.

I've only been playing for 3 days now on LIVE, but I think I have respectable stats for that short time frame.  Though I still have a long way to go to becoming an officer.

I am hoping to find someone who is willing to play on legendary level with me through the campaign and with skulls activated (I already have all 13 skulls).  I'd like to get those additional acheivements/armor/etc.

Sweet, how about Saturday?   LOL. I know you're not available then, or at least during the day. But I'm good for an all-nighter Saturday til Sunday morn. If not then Sundays we can play it through for a few hours and pick it up the next Sunday. That leaves us the rest of the week to burn through multiplayer matches. Man, I'm really digging that. I'm getting better. At first I was trying to wait for the perfect shot, then quickly realized in most instances you have to go balls to the wall and shoot away, as well as stick with your teammates for maximum carnage and a better chance to win the overall match.

Also, I've become a rather adept Warthog driver. I don't mind not getting the kills if it means my gunner is mowing down the competition. I still get the assists for those and manage to take down a few by driving over them.

The Famine skull is the one thats on the beam in The Ark level. You pretty much have to almost blow yourself up with a grenade to get it.

Forgot to ask if anyone find The Simpsons Game for under $15 bucks at Target could you pick it up for me? The last one around here got bought up at 25 bucks.

Wait what??? I got all of the skulls and don't recall having to do that at all. I used the shield. I dropped it down near the upright where the skull is located, jumped on top of the shield, them on to the neck of the upright, walked right up and picked it up.

The one that seemingly took me forever was the one that was in the uppermost cubby hole. Gack, I used that friggin' gravity boost I don't know how many times before finally getting it..

Hmm, that's VERY peculiar. It should have unlocked all of them for you. Contact Bungie (the manufacturers). Try Bungie.net maybe you can get some help there. They will most likely ask for your gamertag to view your profile to verify what you are saying.

Good luck. I think this weekend I'm going to complete it on Heroic, then next weekend move on to Legendary. I've kind of hit a plateau in multiplayer. Can't seem to get past skill 13 and Lt rank. Then again, I haven't been playing with the most skilled players either to help me rank up. I'm finally getting better at "sticking" grenades though. "I'm an excellent driver"...

Has anyone else downloaded the new Legendary maps? Cost is 800 MS points. I did. Wow they are cool. I think I might like Avalanche the best. However Ghost Town has some real promise as it has tight quaters. Blackout is ok, however I'm not a fan of maps you can just fall off of. (Though there is a small portion of that to watch out for on Avalanche). I haven't played a match there yet as it just came out yesterday and the guys I normally play with haven't bought the maps yet. So I just went in to Forge and walked around to see where I could get to and where weapons and equipment is.

Avalanche is a HUGE map. Great for Team Slayer and Big Team match ups.

Well I beat the game on Legendary and since I was unfamiliar with the Halo franchise I was really impressed with it. I wasn't patient with the end credits so I missed the whole scene at the end.

I really hated the Flood, those things that would hang on the walls and snipe you but also could land on the ground and transform into bigger Flood were really annoying especially on the Cortana level. I was surprised on how simple the end level was.

All in all it was a very good game.

Oh for you and everyone else who has or will download the new Legendary maps, there will be a contest the weekend of April 25-27. You must register first to be eligible for prizes. Registration is free, however you must already have the Legendary maps installed on your XBox 360 to qualify and you must have played a multiplayer match on one of the maps by the end of that weekend.

Here's the link on XBox.com: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/h/halo3/legendaryweekend/playandwin.htm or check your dashboards and follow the links in there to register.

Also we will have the chance to play against Halo "Ambassadors" as well as a chick group (their name fails me at the moment, but it's within the dashboard link to the contest).

MetalJedi, you or anyone else who has downloaded this map set, look for me tonight. I'll be on and raring to play on the new Legendary maps! Gamertag: JediMasterSal 0 (that's a space then a zero after it)

Just a note for anyone who's having trouble getting those skill points. I had been stuck in a rut on team slayer forever. Weeks. Can't get past 17, always getting stuck on crappy teams. Well, Lone Wolves seems to be the ticket, made it to 20 in no time flat.

Yes, thsi is what I've heard too...in fact...I have foud a way that supposedly works for getting you and three buddies to be in the SAME Lone Wolf match, which makes it easy to get those gamer points.

Here's how it works (Though I haven't tried it yet and I'm waiting on 3 other people to try this with me, HINT HINT!):

Getting in the same ranked Lone Wolves game:

• Go to the Xbox 360 Dashboard.
• Change your language to the second option from the
bottom, then start Halo 3.
• Invite four other friends that are about the same
rank as you, and have them change their language to
the same one as you.
• Get everyone in the same party; everyone must search
at the same time.
• Everyone must then make a game in Lone Wolves.
• Before you go to start the countdown, press X to
change the search options to the bottom one, which is
to search for the same language. If done correctly,
you should be in the same ranked Lone Wolves game as
your friends.
• You can now get achievements or level someone up.

I'll be on tonight and much of the weekend if anyone wants to try this with me.

Thanks to Rob's inspiration, I finished on Legendary yesterday. However, I have to give props the the people who made this video walk through:

Video Legendary walkthrough. (http://nextgenwalkthroughs.com/systems/xbox360/halo_3/index.php)

Amazing stuff, great tips. I watched about 10 or 12 segments, the guy didn't die once. Good narration too.

I'm going to experiment with some skull combo's next to see the best, most effective way to get through the meta game, which you can play yourself.

Excellent link. I haven't had time to go through them all, just the first three, but good so far. I've downloaded most of the vid. 2.77GB of Halo goodness.

The arcade mode style is really easy and you should easily be able to get all of the acheivements your first time through if you are playing alone. Playing co-op can be slightly more difficult because you are essentially competing with the other people for score.

I used the Famine skull (almost no ammo), Thunderstorm (the one that gives everyone field promotions), Thunderstrom (the no radar one), the one that makes explosions do more damage, Mythic (the one that toughens the enemy: this is a good one on flood levels since it just acts as a mulitplier and effectively does nothing), sometimes Tilt (damage resistance is improved and brutes are immune to human weapons), Tough Luck (the enemies are good at dodging), IWHBYD (the I would have been your daddy silver skull, just becasue it is funny), Grunt birthday party (same thing), and Cowbell. Using all of those there is no way you shouldn't be able to get the acheivements the first time through. If playing with someone else I use the Iron Skull.

I still want to try the Campaign with four people, I've never played with more than two. Legendary was fairly easy alone and really easy if you play it co-op with two. I'll bet four people could get through the game insanely quickly.

I think the only level I really had alot of trouble on Legendary was the Cortana level. I died alot on that level. Those stupid Flood things that would run around were a pain.
Title: Re: The Halo 3 Video Game Thread
Post by: Ryan on April 23, 2008, 10:55 PM
I struggled with Cortana a lot more when I played it through on Heroic than when I played it on Legendary. I got through it on Legendary only dying 7 or 8 times. If you can get a sword an rocket launcher you are set. The sword tears through Flood and uses less energy than it does against Covenant enemies. The rockets are great for taking out the ranged Flood shooters (the ones that cling to the walls and shoot the yellow projectiles). There are plenty of swords throughout the level so you should be able to pick up a new one fairly frequently.

flamethrower at the pelican FTW. I snag that carry it with me then drop it when i need to fight up close, then i use the sword and rocket launcher like you said. The FT is amazing at killing Pure forms of any kind though.

On cortona in Legendary, I just ran and kept high. Worked too. Amazingly, it was my quickest level.

In regard to that link, Ironically (and typically,) I watched a few more just to see how he tackles certain sections and in both, he said he had to edit out deaths. :P

As for skull combos, in all my experimentation, I only turned on and kept on the Birthday party and IWHBYD silver skulls (as the others I had just tried on previously were just plain annoying with no bonus) Gold-wise, I played part 1 on Legendary with just Fog (no motion tracking,) Famine (half ammo) and Thunderstorm (promotions.) I got through the level okay, but it was a pain. It was plus 9 bonus total. Then I switched to Normal and added Tilt (stronger shields) and Mythic (2x health.) That's an 8.5 bonus with a lot more ease. I highly recommend this. Since I had off yesterday, I play 4 parts total with no problem getting the required points for the achievements, no time bonus though.

I also would be interest in doing some competitive campaign play.

Okay, Rob and Sal, I'm officially jealous. I've played enough Lone Wolves games to get me to 20 skill points and the only Achievement I could get unlocked was up close and personal. The rest I couldn't get close, even on the ones I won.

I only have a few of the ranked free for all achievements. The "destroy a banshee with the spartan laser or missle pod" was a complete luck out for me. I wasn't even trying to get it. The mongoose mowdown I believe is the easiest next to the up close and personal. I just recently got the 3 in a row and three in a row with laser sword achievements playing a swords only match.

Oh, it wasn't too hard for most of those I have. Though I am having a hell of a time with "Lee R Wilson memorial" and the "To Close to the Sun" (the banshee one) achievements.

I'd totally be up for a Halo day. I'm in an unofficial clan now and the guys in my group play quite frequently (including me). We're moving up in rank okay, but our overall skill is still a bit lacking., though we have shown marked improvement.

The cool thing about being in a clan is we all know the maps well and can help direct each other where to go and how to help. I'm an unselfish player and will "guard" another of my teammates if it means he can get the amount of kills necessary for us to win.  So my skill level doesn't go up so much. But as a team we are coordinating much better than when we first met just three weeks ago.

One thing I want to do is play the campaign on Legendary with a couple others with skulls turned on (I have them all already) so I can get those campaign achievements for score.

Too Close to the Sun is really easy, just do it in campaign. Lee R Wilson was easy for me as well, but I've always been used to sticking people frequently going back to Halo CE. If you are struggling with it go into a Lone Wolves game and go for absolutely noting but sticks, don't kill anybody with a weapon at all until you get the achievement. Hide somewhere near the sticky spawn (it probably will be easier on a level with Plasmas rather that Spike grenades) and wait for people to run by and then stick them. You can also go the kamikaze route and stick people as they go to melee you. If you see someone with a shotgun or hammer, charge them and get the stick. At lower levels I've noticed most players aren't that good at changing their weapons as the situation changes. They will probably try to shoot you with the shotgun from distance, which should let you get close enough for a stick. I've had plenty of games with 5 sticks when I wasn't really trying for them, so if you spend an entire game or two working on it you should alright. I was playing a doubles game the other night and I wound up with 9 sticks in one game. Just try to get used to switching your grenades based on the situation. If you know you might die soon switch to plasmas and hope to get that last second stick.

Thanks for playing the other night Ant, sorry your internet connection died on you. We were having a string of great games there for awhile. As for a JD Halo night would Friday 9 PM Mountain (11 EST 8 PST) work for anyone here? I'll probably be on after Galactica for awhile. If not, about anytime Saturday night should work for me too.

Wow, that's really sad. I've never had problems with any Playstation or Nintendo products. I'm NOT looking forward to when my 360 goes. I have the Halo special edition. I'm going to be pissed if I can't get that back. Not only did I pay more money for it, but it's a limited edition damnit... I've heard of this happening already where a kid sent his Halo360 in and got back a different version.  Apparently Bungie setn him a whole bunch of stuff to help make up for it. (Including a Master Chief scaled helmet sign by many of the Bungie employees.

I have the Elite Version. I origianlly had the Premium and that broke, but it came from Costco and I was able to return it pretty much no questions asked. Which was cool because I had wanted to get the Elite version anyways. I got the Elite back in August, and my first one had the three Red lights of Death back in February. Now it is the Graphics card or some such BS. They just don't make 'em like they used to. I never had any problems with any of old systems, except for once with the first issue XBox console.

These are the reasons I'm switching to PC. Consoles just aren't made the way they used to be. Plus Mice/keyboard just rock compared to analog. The RROD with xbox and then all of PS3's issues in having to put a model out each week to take care of something they forgot in their last version. Only console that I can think of thats come out with major problems is the wii and its not as powerful. Go figure

Artoo, although I have all those achievements, I should be able to help out with missions. FYI, if you check a few posts back, I posted a video walk-though on legendary. It's really good and really helpful.

I know what a killtacular is, but what's an extermination?

An Extermination is when you wipe out the entire enemy team (so they are all dead at the same time, if one respawns before you kill the last one it won't count) with at least an Overkill. I've had a few exterminations before but they have only been with Overkills. Two of my exterminations came in SWAT and Griffball but those don't really count since it is too easy to get them in those playlists. I had one legit one in a Ranked skirmish game before I got this one this weekend. I saved the film clip from this latest one if you want to see it, it should be the last one on my file share.

Checked out the Killtacular, very cool.

After playing some SWAT recently, one thing is painfully clear, I can't pull of the head shot. I seem to over correct and miss consistently. Any tips?
Title: Re: The Halo 3 Video Game Thread
Post by: Ryan on May 9, 2008, 10:29 AM
If you are over correcting fairly consistently I'd try turning down your sensitivity a notch or two and playing with it lower for a while. Your close combat game will suffer from that, as you can't turn as quickly but it should help improve your aim. Once you start to get used to it you can work your way back to a higher sensitivity. When your target is moving you are going to want to aim just in front of them, unless they are pretty close to you. Try keeping your cross hairs at head level at all times. I'm almost always looking slightly upwards. The less you have to move the crashairs when someone comes onto your screen the better chance you have at killing them. ALWAYS ditch the assault rifle in favor of a battle rifle in games when you don't start out with one. Use the BR whenever you have the chance and just work on headshots. As soon as you can get decent with it the BR will beat an AR almost everytime unless it is at extreme close range. It's hard to explain a lot of this because I've just been doing it for as long as I've been playing Halo, so your best bet too will be to watch film clips in the theater. If you really get your ass handed to you and it seems the other team is getting headshots every time, go back in and watch what the other players do, and compare it to yourself. Theater is a great way to get better, just study and observe better players and you will start to pick up a few things.
Title: Re: The Halo 3 Video Game Thread
Post by: Darth_Anton on May 12, 2008, 09:18 AM
The problem with theater is that I usually never see who hits me. :P

Half-joking aside, I'm a huge BR fan. I know once I get better at the head shots it'll improve my game.
Title: Re: The Halo 3 Video Game Thread
Post by: jedi_master_sal on May 12, 2008, 11:00 AM
I've slowly been improving my game.

I'm using the BR much more these days.

As well, I've greatly improved my skill with stickies. Finally got the Lee R Wilson memorial achievement. (5 sticks in a match)

All weekend I was using the stickie more and more. I think it's funny when people think they have me dead to rights, only to hear their screams in abject horror at having been stuck in the face.

Oh and I've started playing Campaign again (with my bro-in-law) to get the points achievements. I'll get those 1000 gamer points eventually...

Well, just let me know. I'm on every freakin' night...

STILL trying to rank to 20...gawd. And it will suck even then as I have enough experience that I'll automatically go up to Staff Captain. I need to hit 30-35 before my experience and skill somewhat level out.

I didn't know it back when, but it really ended up hurting being in a clan of noobs and that we lost a lot of games early on. It's that much more difficult for me to rank up now. But I'm NOT starting a second account. In my mind that's cheating. (Though not according to an article on Bungie.net.)

It is a glitch in Bungie's server or it was hacked. It has happend once or twice when I've been on, it was well over 140,000 then it suddenly drops down to 8000 total online. Rumble Pit has said it has 6 total people online before when I was in it yet it still finds games almost instantly, and I've found games when it says no one is playing in other playlists.

We still need that to have that JD Halo night at some point...

Gawd, I'm still one freakinn' acheivement from 100 in Halo3. Frickin' "Steppin' Razor."

Oh for those Halophiles out there, Bungie over the weekend announced a new system for ranking! They as yet have not said when it will take effect but it's coming SOON.

Here's the link (scroll down halfway or so until you see "AU Deuce" (which stands for Auto-Update 2): http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=14994

Basically instead of carrying your overall rank into each playlist you will now have a different rank PER PLAYLIST. This includes Ranked and Social. It depends solely on the amount of WINS you have in each category that determines your military rank. Skill now has NO bearing on that. In fact once you reach 600 XP in any given playlist you become a General in that SPECIFIC playlist.

There's more to it than that, so go and read the info in the link.

For me I see it as a good thing. It will encourage those who want to rank up in everything to play all those different playlists. For people like me who are perpetually stuck at Staff Captain, it will mean in some playlists (as in my case Ranked Team Slayer) we'll get a military rank upgrade. Much of my XP is in Ranked Slayer so I may bolt up from the lowly Staff Captain to Brigadier or General. But it also means in those playlists that I have virtually NO XP, that I could be a Sgt or even a recruit. Of course this applies to everyone.

Your OVERALL rank will not change with the update, not will your skill. Overall XP will be accounted for and your overall rank will go up with that and skill. So basically Bungie has just further subdivided the ranking.

Again noone loses their overall ranking and noone loses their overall skill. Just the individual playlist ranks will change, NOT the individual skill ranks as those are already in place.

That's good for me my ranks in TS & LW (my two highest) are frozen.

So until then I'm just playing Custom games & SWAT.

Sal I see you finally got the Steppin Razor achievement. Congrats! I know thats one difficult one to get. I'll probably stay at 880/1000 as I have no patience anymore for those 5 point achievements.

That's hard? That & the regular Triple Kill (I got this with the hammer) were the only online only achievement's I didn't "cheat"* for.

*Cheat meaning people helping me out.

I wish I can get people to help me out to get the last achievement I need in Halo. All my needs are Lone Wolves and I've been able to make it to rank 20 without getting a one.  :(

I didn't say hard, I said difficult. I got the Triple Kill and Steppin Razor in one shot in Lone Wolves. I still don't understand how some people can get the Overkill achievement.

Thanks!

It WAS difficult for me. I really wasn't paying much attention to the online achievements while playing. So there I was climbing the skill level in Lone Wolf before realizing I had a few achievements to make in that playlist. Once I realized it, there were still 3-4 I needed to get. It became much harder as I was already in the 20s on that playlist and playing people who were highest skill of 30s and higher.

Quite by accident I was lucky to get the Overkill achievement early on in Lone Wolf. I recall that one clearly. I simply shot a rocket at four opponents taking them all out.

I'm very happy that I finally attained that portion of the game. However I really can't wait until Bungie starts the new rank system. At this point I could give a crap about skill rank. I know I'll never get their with my current account, and just don't feel like buying a second account just to rank up quickly. So for me, it's going to be about attaining military ranks in each playlist. And who knows, maybe along the way I may pick up some more of that skill...

Bungie makes it official (http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=15422)...

Achievements Unlocked

Inevitably, this will be blown out of context, misread and misunderstood, but let’s do it anyway.

For a number of reasons ranging from obvious to sublime, Title Update 2 (which is the new, hip, Xbox 360-version way of saying “Auto Update” or “Patch”), introduces new Achievements to Halo 3. Last weekend at Penny-Arcade Expo we played Assembly on the TU2, which meant that folks would see and buzz about the new achievements.  These will be made live when TU2 turns on later this month - the previously announced date may slip a bit closer to the Halo 3 one-year anniversary.

Here’s a look at these achievements which can be earned via the Legendary Maps and Halo 3 Campaign:

Vidmaster Challenge: Lightswitch (0 points) – Get to the rank of Lieutenant in any playlist in the new EXP progression system.
Vidmaster Challenge: 7 on 7 (0 points) – Enter into any ranked or social playlist with 7 EXP on the 7th of the month.
Vidmaster Challenge: Annual (0 points) – After 9/25/08, complete Halo on 4-player Legendary LIVE co-op, with Iron, and everyone in Ghosts.
Double Double (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get two Double Kills during any ranked or social match.
Poor Yorick (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 3 Oddball melee kills during any ranked or social match.
Came…From…Behind (50 points) – On a Legendary map, get 3 assassinations during any ranked or social match.
Defend This (50 points) – On a Legendary map, get a flag melee kill during any ranked or social match.
Flag Dropped (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 2 flag carrier kills during any ranked or social match.
Road Rage (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 5 Warthog chaingun kills during any ranked or social match.
Look Both Ways (50 points) – On a Legendary map, get a Splatter Spree during any ranked or social match.
As folks have seen, these aren’t the only achievements we’re adding. But without proper context, there’s not a whole lot else we’re going to say. Stay tuned.

I'm all for some easy gamerscore. Most of those are things that you do in any given match. I Think the splatter spree my be kind of tough. I've only had 5 or 6 of them in all the matches I've played. The oddball one will be tricky too, though that 3-ball playlist could make it easy. I played that some last night and averaged 4-5 ball kills a game. I rarely gun in the warthog so that one may take me a little while.

At least they're all ranked or social matches. Playing rank anymore is becoming a joke. 3/4's of the ranked matches I pay anymore are against account re-starters.

Well we STILL need too have a JD night on Halo 3.

Since all of our Halo 3 accounts experience will be reset to ZERO.... this might be a good time to play some games together.

I stupidly bought a second account because I was so sick of being a staff captain. That and just last month Bungie said that experience would not be reset. So if exp wasn't being reset, then I'd have been stuck in rank at some playlists.

So I caved and went to the darkside and got a second account. This BEFORE knowing Bungie was just going to go ahead and reset EXP-when they said they were NOT going to.

SO now I"m stuck with a 2nd account that doesn't mean anything. Though in just the scant 4 days I've owned it, I've gotten almost all of the achievements again and have started to climb the skill/EXP list. Still, it burns me that I got this second account. The ONLY reason I got it was for Halo, and at that ONLY because Bungie said they were not resetting EXP. The only real pleasure I've gotten out of this second account is pwning a commander and a colonel. I got an Overkill and Extermination over their team. Honestly, I hate when being faced with 2nd accounters and for the longest time vowed I'd never do it. But Bungies screwed up rank/skill system just finally made me cave.

I guess I'll look forward to the AutoUpdateRESET and the new achievements, but really, I'm starting to get bored with Halo now and the way Bungie is handling the game and it's peripheals.

I don't know that they are reseting EXP per se... You still keep your Universal ranking and skills, but you now get a seperate EXP tally for each playlist, it is that EXP that will be set to 0 with the autoupdate.
Title: Re: The Halo 3 Video Game Thread

Yes, and THAT is my point. It doesn't really matter what your current skill/EXP is. Once the autoupdate hits, your previous skill/EXP is just an indicator until your new skill and EXP catch up to it. Your overall rank will move up slowly and your overall skill rank won't change unless you bring up one of the newly zeroed out playlists up to that skill level and beyond. I'm upset because after being a friggin' staff captain for so long, I thought I was going to keep my EXP per playlist. Knowing that I had played/won a ton of ranked slayer matches, at the least my military rank would be fairly high according to the new EXP criteria. Since this EXP per playlist will zero out, I have neither the skill or EXP (nor does anyone else).

So this means that people who are actually ranked 40+ up to 50 will be pwning people left and right. Those with mediocre skills will once again rank up slowly because of this and pure noobs (not restarters or downrankers) will really get the shiite kicked out of them. The matchmaking the computer does will not differentiate those who have played the game a gazillion times vs. those who haven't vs those who have and WON a majority of those games. So again, the really skilled people are going to be the most rewarded, while those of us with "tenure" with the game, that is to say played a lot of games but not neccessarily won a lot, will continued to be screwed over.

I deliberately started a second account because I knew with my first account and all of that EXP I'd never hit 30 or better. I was on vacation last week and had prmised myself that if I didn't reach 30, I'd start a second account. I got close at 29. Anyway, so NOW finding out that all accounts will be zeroed out, just smacks me in the face. Since my first account will be reset, I'll be able to now use that account to rank up, though again having to deal with all of those really skilled players with whom I should never be matched up with until I actually reach or get somewhat close to their skill level.

They did and I updated and play the game. Too much of matching up against MUCH better players. I'm going to take a break from Halo 3 for a few days and let those better players rank up so I don't have to be stuck facing them. I'll play social games with friends when we can fill up the players list so there's NO chance of playing harder players. Might even get a chance to get some of the new achievements this way.

BTW, there are  6 new maps that will be coming out.

This info was gleaned from the list of ALL of the new achievements. In that list it states getting skulls for the new mythic maps, listed as:
Assembly
Citadel

I'm looking for 2 more people to join me in Campaign for the new achievement on the last mission.

Vidmaster Challenge: Annual
After 9/25/08, complete Halo on 4-player Legendary LIVE co-op, with Iron, and everyone in Ghosts.
0 G

This is a bit tough as once a person dies, the whole party starts at their previous checkpoint. Also, we all have to be in ghosts at the end of the mission. Very tough, IMO.

So anyone else up to the challenge??

I've got one person, I still need two more.

Look for me online JediMasterSal 0  (that's a space then a ZERO at the end of my gamertag)

I've heard rumors that something in Forge will be unlocked after all three, armor will be unlocked, and a few other random things. Bungie hasn't revealed anything yet. At this point I don't believe it does anything to have all three. I'm sure Bungie has plans to have these do something at somepoint. Perhaps the new maps will have something to do with it.

I was able to get the Annual last night. I always enjoy playing a little campaign so if anyone is still needing I can try to help out. :)

I don't want Recon because no one else has it. I really like the Recon helmet.

I like the helmet, not so much the shoulder armor though.

As to the Vidmaster Challenge Annual....

First let me thank Anton for joining my family party of players. It took us some time (3+ hours IIRC) but we finally got through it! Damn, now THAT was an achievement. Before people start screaming NOOB, I must say that one of the players was my wife who BARELY plays Halo. So, we had to have a strategy to overcome her less than skillful play. Again, in the end through perseverance we did it. Though to be fair, all 4 in our party had their fair share of being killed... I hope like hell we get something very cool after unlocking all of the VMC achievements.

On another note, a friend of mine was EXP banned. Aparently you can bring in guests to a SOCIAL match and then just not have them play. This was done because there were no more friends available to invite. We (yes, I said WE) wanted to play as friends and NOT have to deal with Bungie's horrid matchmaking. Since before TU2, I've never played as many 40+ skill ranked players. I get my arse handed to me every time. So to combat this he brought in enough guests so we could play a nice social match and try to get some achievements along the way. In NO way were we even THINKING about boosting, but apparently THAT is what Bungie thought he was doing.

No use complaining to Bungie either. They don't want to hear it. Here's the website he got when the message popped up on screen that he'd been banned: http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?link=H3Bans

So immediately after that we stopped using his guests less ALL of the rest of us be banned.

Again, I must reiterate that in NO way were we boosting. That wasn't even in our heads. Like I said, we were thinking about getting some achievements. And before there is ANY public outcry on that, we would have played the matches fairly and not just given them to the other person. In all of my achievements for Halo 3, I think I've only been "given" 3 of them out of the 54 I have. And two of those were EARLY in my Halo 3 career. The other one the VMC Annual, though I don't even really count that as we did have to play the mission for 3 hours as mentioned.

So anyways, be fair warned that Bungie is laying down the ban hammer without much moderation or taking players viewpoints into consideration.

Needless to say, I'll be extremely careful in the future. However I DO think it's ludicrious that we have to be at all. If Bungie's matchmaking system was run more fairly, people wouldn't do anything like this, be it for cheating reasons or not. (Then again, there will always be that small portion who DO look to cheat-can't help that.)

New video up on bungie.net.

This is the NEW trailer for a sequel to Halo 3. It's called "Halo 3 Recon."

Bad thing is that it's not due til Fall NEXT YEAR!!!

So forget about those new maps and achievements until then.

Still, I'm looking forward to it. I just KNEW the ODSTs would be taking over the role of Master Chief, just not in a "midquel." (That is to say a sequel released chronologically out of order-the CLone Wars movie and cartoon shows are other examples of midquels.)

I figured the ODSTs would be featured after Halo 3. Some new adventures.

Hmm, who knows, maybe that will still happen someday.

I think it would be cool to play as an ODST (after the events of Halo 3), and along the way be training to become a new Spartan. In the end of the game you DO become a new Spartan. Not the same armor as Master Chief though, but rather something new.

Also, with the new game using the word Recon in it's title, I wonder if that means the new unlockable armor is indeed Recon? There has been rumor as such, but also rumor that the new armor is something we've never seen before.

Hmm, I wonder if this means we might get to play as an ODST in matchmaking? I know Bungie has said no campaign elements in matchmaking, but who knows....a year is a long enough time away for them to change their minds.

It definitely is exciting news. :)

I wouldn't rule out the Mythic Map pack just yet. The achievements/new maps don't look like they have anything to do with this new metagame. The maps have long been rumored to be coming out in November. The typical pattern is five or six months between map packs. I'd find it hard to believe that Bungie would go close to a year and a half without releasing new maps. I'd be willing to bet my 360 we will see the new maps and the achievements that go with them sometime before Recon comes out, probably in the new few months.

From what I've heard coming out of the Tokyo Game Show (where the game was announced) Recon is going to be a completely different game that also includes new multiplayer. That to me seems to rule out the possibility of it being more DLC, and it likely will be its own game entirely. I could be wrong about that of course but that seems to make the most sense.
Title: Re: The Halo 3 Video Game Thread

It does seem like Recon matchmaking will be seperate from Halo 3 MM. However, I'd like to see a way for Bungie to cross them over.

A "possible" scenario could be that you have to have to Halo 3 Recon disk in your drive, yet LIVE/Bungie will recognize your regular Halo 3 EXP/skill. ALL maps would then be available for you to play on. While those who only have Halo 3 would continue to play on only Halo 3 specific maps and NOT the Recon maps. Likewise (and however unlikely), those who have never played the original Halo 3 but are playing matchmaking with the Halo 3 Recon disk in the drive would only be able to play the Recon maps.

Since we already have the Heroic/Legendary maps and soon the Mythic if they are indeed not part of Recon, on our drives, then the Recon disk/LIVE would see that and make them available for us to play.

Whatever happens, I'm just glad there is more Halo goodness coming soon.

Hmm, so let's speculate on a timeline then:
Mythic Maps-November/December 2008
Halo Wars-March/April 2009
Halo 3 Recon-September 2009 (to coincide with the 3 year anniversary of Halo 3??)

If this is the case, then indeed it's roughly 5-6 months between each. I can handle that!

Yeah yeah, I'm old and crotchety, quit correctingme, LOL.

Oh and I found out that Recon is a stand alone game.

however it holds ALL of the Halo 3 maps for matchmaking as well as it's own new maps.

SO...it appears that either our current Halo accounts will migrate to Recon OR we will have two matchmaking sets. One for Halo3 and another for Recon.  I hope Bungie BLENDS the two together instgead of two matchmaking servers. It would mean I'd have to start all over again. Something I'm loathe to doing. We've just done that with the autoupdate2.

Meta games are done for two reasons, your own personal challenge and/or to get level achievements. If you're turning on the skulls to get the achievements, there are some basic manageable combinations that will get you there, but I litteraly just threw away the combination I used.  :P

I don't know if anyone would be interested or not but if you guys like to check out your Halo 3 stats online at all there is a fantastic site called Halo Charts (http://www.halocharts.com/index.php) that completely maps your stats from every single game you've played.

I know Bungie.net does too, but this is even more comprehensive and has full leaderboards for every possible category. You can compare yourself to every other Halo 3 player in the world in almost every imaginable catergory, from Laser Kills per game, to your total Wheelmans. It is pretty cool. As of last night I was ranked #463 in the world for most Laser kills in Social Matches.  :)

And yet, yesterday, for the first time ever, I killed someone using the Laser in an on-line match.

Couple of Halo-related stories in the news, thought I'd share:

Kid assaults mother with a taco after unplugging his Xbox (http://www.myfoxorlando.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=8257440&version=2&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1)

Quote
A 19-year-old Deltona man is arrested for assaulting his own mother, with a taco. Dena Moir tells Fox 35 News her son, Zachary Moir, got out of control Wednesday night when she was calling him down for dinner. When he refused to stop playing his X-box and come down for dinner, Dena Moir says she went upstairs and unplugged the game, that's when she says Zachary pushed her and called her a bad name.  "I've been having trouble with him for awhile won't work, wont' go to school. He's being rude and disrespectful. Pushing things to the limit as far as the violence.”

A few minutes later Dena says she was in the kitchen cleaning and cooking tacos for dinner when Zachary showed up. That's when she says he slapped her arm and threw a taco in her face. “He went ahead and hit me with the taco and I got taco all over my shirt and kitchen. I’ve threatened to call police before. But anyway this time, I thought he went too far so I called police and he's in jail now.”

(Well, actually, I can't find anything that confirms that this taco-throwing ******* was indeed playing Halo 3, but I'm gonna go ahead and assume that he was, anyway.)

Teenager shot parents who took away Xbox (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article5512446.ece)

A 17-year-old has been convicted of shooting his parents in the head after they took away his video game.

Daniel Petric killed his mother and wounded his father when they banned him from playing "Halo 3" and took away his Xbox console. He now faces a possible life sentence.

. . .Aaaand this is why I play COD4.

Matt, with respect, COD (any variation) is still violent. These violent games of ANY sort should NOT be in the hands of children. And for those who are of age (18+), act your damn age.

My nephew was shot and killed this past Thursday (1/15/9), presumably due to Halo. Details are sketchy on that, however it appears the boy who shot him didn't do so out of malice but by accident. Apparently they were making a video of how to load a shotgun and the one went off. The idea of loading a shotgun may have come from Halo, but again that has not been determined.

Kids should NOT have violent video games, NOR be in ANY proximity to weapons, especially guns. And this INCLUDES hunting. There is PLENTY of time to learn how to hunt when they are older. I FIRMLY believe a child of less than 16 should not have access to a weapon. Those between 16-18 only access at shooting ranges. Then hopefully within those two years they not only will have learned to be a good shot, but also gained the responsibility that being around a weapon carries.

Naysayers, please tread lightly, after all I did lose a relative due to a weapon.

Again, respectfully posted,
-Sal

I didn't say it wasn't.  It was more of a comment on the differences in the fan communities between the two franchises.  There just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of crossover there.

Anyway, sorry about your nephew.

Sorry about your lost Sal, but I have to disagree with the age group you state for being allowed access to a weapon. Personally I say no weapons at all regardless of age BUT I have already lost that arguement on these boards considering I am a Canadian on an American board...taking that into account I would say that no one under the age of 21 should have access to weapons. and I choose that age simply because if your not old enough to drink then why should you be old enough to carry a weapon. and without need to say dont mix up drinking and weapons...bad results tend to happen...

Well truthfully I too would rather not see weapons in 16-18 year olds either, but I figured that would be met with remarks saying the contrary, so I struck a compromise. Besides, while in High School, I had the privelege of firing an M-16 at a military base shooting range while in JROTC.

As to not being able to have a weapon until 21, I have to disagree there. Our military forces filled with 18-20 year olds. We NEED to have those kids, and have them well prepared. We're already stretched between the two wars, so having to wait for those folks to reach 21 would hamper our efforts greatly. I do find it hypocritical though that those same kids are not permitted to drink, yet can fight and die for our country. Though I'm not personally ready to yield the drinking age to 18. So I guess in that I too am a little hypocritical. But I'm fine with that. It's a matter of responsibility I guess. If alcohol and weapons were not glamorized in our culture, the need to partake in them would not nearly be so high and the problems associated with them would be greatly decreased.

Okay anyway, sorry for getting off topic, I did not mean to post something that is prolly more apppropriate for the Sarlaac Pit portion of the forums. I think the killing of my nephew has made me rethink some things in my life and given me another perspective on things. So I'm tending to post that way now. Again apologies if I should have posted this here or if anything I posted offended anyone.

Respectfully,
-Sal

Ryan was in a couple of games with me and some other friends of mine. We all were working on achievements and he helped and I think we even helped him get a couple as well.

I'm down to only needing the "Post Mortem" achievement for Halo 3. That is until the last 3 mythic maps come out...

I still need some of these for my second account, so if you're on and need help, let me know. I always have tons of friends on and I'm sure we can get an achievement party going.

I got mine while playing that Griff ball shite, if you don't get it now one of the last three Mythic maps will probably be a big team map and you should be able to do it then.

I like Grifball. My one complaint with the Mythic maps is there's too much of the BR invovled with them. Of course that means I'm **** with the Battle Rifle but still every other game had something to do with the BR.

Ant, I got mine the same as Ryan.

It's very easy in a Grifball match to get.

Zombies are the DXP this weekend. I'll be going for the 2 Mythic Achievements for this. They are both similar. In one you need to kill two Zombies, the other kill two humans (while you are a zombie).  Simple!

Once I get those, I think I'll be set on my first account for achievements until ODST comes out.

Title: Re: The Halo 3 Video Game Thread
Post by: jedi_master_sal on April 27, 2009, 03:18 PM
I suspect the Mythic playlist will end as of May 31st.

Why? Because during May several of the playlists are Mythic required, while others are Mythic optional. Bungie has already stated that one a map pack for a playlist is listed as optional the next month it becomes required.

So I'd venture to guess June the Mythic playlist goes away while the map packs themselves are absorbed into normal matchmaking.

I'm actually looking forward to this in ranked matches.

I wish it would have had it's own ranked playlist instead of being put into the DLC or other playlists though.

The Mythic Brawl Double XP playlist has been helpful to me in knocking off some of those lone wolves achievements this weekend. The thing that I don't get is that it's ranked and I've been more focused on the Achievements then on winning, so despite losing a lot, I keep going up in rank.  ???

That's part of what makes Lone Wolves easier to rank up in. You don't have to win to rank up, you just have to place in the top half of people. So when you have a bigger list of people like that, you can still place in 6th and be ranking up. Placing in 1st will rank you up faster, but it is very hard not to rank up in special ranked playlists like that. Bungie has had ranked Zombie playlists on Halloween before, and I don think you could ever go down a level, you keep going up, or you eventually plateau. They must have the rank in that playlist set-up differently.

Bummer. :(

I loved the campaign. I beat the solo Legendary campaign in about 9-10 hours of actual playing time. I wish Bungie would have been able to release this at a lower price like they wanted to. It does have the feel of a big expansion rather than a brand new game. For me at least the campaign does make it worth it. It helped having $30 in Best Buy Reward Zone points, so ODST only cost me $30. :)

I think it was worth it.  Not only did you get a campaign the same amount of levels as Halo 3, but you get Firefight which is ODST's answer to Multiplayer. AND you get the Mythic Map disk FREE with this. That's an extra $10 at least (since we all know these will eventually be made available on XBOX marketplace). But it's nice to have all the maps on one disc without having to download them. This helps all of those people who have multiple accounts not have to log in their original account they downloaded maps for so their alt accounts can play on them...sorry if that sounded confusing.

Anyway, if you pre-ordered you also got the Sgt. Johnson skin free.  Plus there is the Halo Reach Beta Invite.

I think we got a solid game with replayability and a nice assortment of extras.

I have yet to play it on Legendary. Though I will once I've gotten all the rest of the achievements. I like the story of tis game and the somewhat non-linear play of it. (Though I played it through as Bungie intended on my first run-through)

Oh, and I haz Recon as well. Nice looking armor, but the shininess is already starting to wear off since so many other people have it already now as well.

I need 2 H3 achievements and 10 ODST Achievements. I've barely played Halo Wars. I thought I was going to be excited about it, but it became a dud for me. Eventually I'll get to it. I have the week off during Christmas to New Years, so maybe I'll play it then. Though I've got several games I need to play.

Games bought and not yet played:
Bioshock (just bought after finally playing the demo, looks sweet and I'll likely get BS2 when it comes out if the first one is as good as the demo was)
Fracture-I picked up this game when it first came out and it's STILL in the cellaphane.
LEGO SW (the complete series). I have both the OT and PT versions. I think those were on PS2 though. Now I'll be able to earn the achievements for the whole series!

Games need to finished but have started:
LEGO Indy
LEGO Batman

Games played through the campaign but don't have all the achievements for:
Mass Effect

So with those games needing played, I don't know if I'll get to Halo Wars anytime soon. I'm stuck on the 4th mission on normal. I'm just not understanding this game like I did with the SW RTS games.

Halo: Combat Evolved remake coming this holiday (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/04/halo-combat-evolved-hd/)

Quote
Joystiq has learned that the previously rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved will indeed launch this holiday season for Xbox 360 with a full visual overhaul. Sources explain that the re-release is not Bungie's 2001 Xbox game simply running at a higher resolution -- it's being remade with new art assets. While Halo's audio will likely remain unaltered, the controls will allow for more recent Halo configurations.

The Halo: Combat Evolved remake is allegedly being developed by New Jersey-based Saber Interactive, the company behind TimeShift and Namco's upcoming Inversion, but we've been unable to confirm the nature of the engine powering it. We understand that it's something other than the Reach engine.

The Halo: Combat Evolved update, one of two Halo games currently in development under the watchful eye of 343 Industries, is expected to support 1080p resolution and 3D televisions. Details on multiplayer are supposedly still being worked out, but we understand the remake will likely feature online co-op (the original game supported two-player split-screen co-op).

The game is expected to re-evolve on November 15, 2011, ten years after Halo: Combat Evolved launched alongside the Xbox. Our sources didn't know of any plans to similarly upgrade the recently disconnected Halo 2, but it's hard to imagine Microsoft playing favorites with its biggest franchise.

Anyone else around here who still plays Halo and is planning on picking up Infinite? I can't wait. I've still been playing a decent amount of MCC as my primary shooter.

The Infinite trailers, flighting, and Halo Waypoint updates have all been great so far. I think 343 has finally figured out how to make a Halo game. This is easily the most excited I've been about the launch of a new Halo game since Reach.

Infinite campaign dropped yesterday, and my initial impressions of it are near perfect. (I have some minor complaints but they are in regards to things 343 is aware of and supposedly fixing, so I will hold judgement on those until they do.)

This is the new Halo game I have been waiting for for the last 11 years, and so far feels like the game I will be happily playing for the next 11 years. So far it seems that 343 has corrected everything that Halo 4 & 5 got so wrong about Halo. It has gotten back to the roots of what made Halo CE so revolutionary 20 years ago. They are pulling in all the best elements of classic Halo but giving them a great modern spin. It feels like they are really incorporating some of their learnings from their recent work on Halo MCC, taking it from the completely broken game it was at launch, to the solid game it is today (7 years later)

The sandbox in game is great. There are so many fun new toys that seem to be really well balanced. I haven't gotten too far into the open world yet having just completed the first two missions but man oh man, it's going to be fun to explore. The boss fights are hard (on Legendary) but feel organically hard, and the two I have fought so far were unique from one another and felt like a huge improvement over the Halo 5 Warden fights that were kind of the same every time.

I definitely recommend trying it out if you have ever been interested in Halo.

I saw you on the other night, so I am assuming you picked it up.  :)

Yeah, I had to throttle back some of the graphics settings while playing on my Xbox One X, but once I did it ran just fine, both campaign and MP. Now that I switched to the XBox Series X (I will never get over how bad the naming system is) it has been running even better.

Some big changes are coming to the Infinite store this week and a new free "event" battlepass is starting today too, with some neat looking cyberpunk like cosmetics. Based on user feedback, 343 is also going to be trying out some new (lower) pricing for store items and will breaking up some packages and allowing users to purchase single items, without buying the whole package. They have some other plans too for future store and unlock improvements. I think it is very promising to see them actually listening and responding to user feedback, and being transparent about it. It gives me a lot of hope for the future of the game.

On a sad Halo note, all the original XBox360 Matchmaking and Online servers went down forever last week. The games are still playable in MCC of course, but the original experiences are no longer available. I played a few final games of Halo 3 to send it out last week. It was bittersweet, I had so many good memories on the old servers but it was good to see them one last time.

Yeah...I got to a boss fight after picking up the weapon, and kept getting killed so I took a break.

It's running fine on my X-Box One Elite, and looks great on the 75 inch tv!   ;D
