Anybody got a master list of most of the 3 3/4" FEMALE figures that could be used for fodder? I think it would be a good sticky post since there are far fewer female figures to use as fodder.
-
There actually quite a few female figures and the list is longer than you might expect. You can argue wether they are good fodder or not. Findswoman is champion of the female figure so I'd like to get her thoughts on this one.
-
it'd be nice to have a good list with pics to go along with it. Probably would be best to be hosted on a site for this. I'd love to do it, I'd just need the names and get pics for each.
-
This is an excellent idea, and I would be glad to help out on it -- in fact, I was just going to say I wouldn't mind having it on my own site, www.findswoman.net, either! :)
FFURG has a list of female heads usable with SW parts (http://www.ffurg.com/heads/choosing_female_heads.htm), but it's by no means either exhaustive or up-to-date, and there are no pictures. Still, it does gives us something to start with.
So let's start just by listing things, why don't we? Starting with the Leias, perhaps, most all of which are good for fodder:
POTF2:
"Monkey" Leia (torso + arms are EXCELLENT fodder, even if head isn't)
"New Likeness" Leia (white bun outfit)
Leia with Sporting Blaster (also white bun outfit)
Hoth Leia
Slave Leia
Leia as Boushh
Ewok Celebration Leia
Flashback Ceremonial Leia
Expanded Universe Leia
Leia from the speederbike
Leia from the Mynock Hunt scene
Princess Leia Collection
ANH Leia (with R2-D2)
Ceremonial Leia (with Luke)
Bespin Gown Leia (with Han)
Pink-dress Ewok Celebration Leia (with Wicket)
POTJ:
General Leia
Bespin Escape Leia (tiny!)
Deluxe Slave Leia
Saga and OTC:
Imperial Captive Leia (white outfit, buns)
Bespin Gown Leia
Slave Leia (same as Deluxe from POTJ line)
Leia as Boushh
VOTC Leia
Leias that may or may not be fodder-able:
Early Bird Leia
Swing to Freedom Leia
Anyone care to start on the Padmés? :)

yes! I'll help as well. We can really coordinate on this and develop a master list! :)
-
All right. Here's a list I threw together today of all the compatible SW-sized female figures I could think of. If I have left anything out, especially in the non-SW list, please do let me know, and chime in with anything else you think would work!
Of course, some of these femmes are less suitable for customizing than others. Some of the big-dress Amidalas, for example, aren't really useable as fodder. I've tried to point this out along the way. Your comments here are appreciated, too.
And without further ado, here's the list as it stands right now! Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

There is also some gi-joe like articulation girl figures that were sold in the girls aisle, I know at walmart, but not sure of other places. They had 'work' outfits on, and bathing suits. They came in 3 packs. I just got through selling one of them that was blonde and in a teal bathing suit to someone on here. I cant think of the name of them though!
(I'm not sure if its the right scale, but what about charlie and the chocalte factory figs?)
-
Esther, you should add the updated Asajj in the Battlepack from last year. There are really two clone wars versions (non-animated). Otherwise I think you nailed it.
-
You could also include:
Willma Darling (Buck Rogers)
Princess (Buck Rogegers)
and the lady in the Black Hole
all from the early 80's from Mego Toys.

Not to be a Negative Nellie, but many of RollaJedi's suggestions from the 80's are too crude to stand next to today's finely sculpted efforts from Hasbro & others.
Also, though pricey, we have the two Lucas daughters from the Lucas family set -
Chi Eekway - twilek
Ter Taneel - human
There's another GI Joe female that I recently picked up, named simply "G.I. Jane" - she comes in a pack with several other figures. She looks similar to Bombstrike (same busty torso), but has a different head - blonde hair, cut shorter.
As with SW figures, it's best to stick with the more recent "Joe" offerings like Bomstrike, Courtney, Scarlett, Baroness, as the 80's versions have larger heads and less sophisticated sculpting.
-
Oh, there's also a Sabe figure from POTJ in the "battle outfit" seen near the end of the movie during the invasion of the palace. Don't know if that one was mentioned!
-
Since this is a fodder topic, I'd like to add the Adi Gallia & Stass Allie from the Jedi Council sets with bendy knees. Also, is Yaddle a girl?
-
yes a very disgusting girl, but to yoda a foxy momma :-X
-
DAMN. now I have like NO excuse to avoid army building the 'Women of StarWars' like I always wanted to...
>:(
You people are horrid.
;) Seriously though, this is wonderful! Nice work! This is going to be an awesome (and very welcome) resource when we get a full list with pics up. Thanks for starting it, Rolla, and thanks for giving it the kick in the butt (that I knew you would as soon as I saw the thread), Finds!
Oh, and don't forget Agent Anika - the chest is absurd, (tho' it can be altered), but the arms and head are quite spiffy!
-
Thanks, all, for the suggestions! I've just added a bunch of your suggestions to the fodder list. Now, I don't want to be a negative Nellie either, but for the reasons stated by Quazar, I am sticking to figures and lines from the '90s and later -- better availability as well as compatibility with modern SW figures.
(Notice I haven't put any vintage SW figures on the list, either. Vintage customizing is a world into which I have not yet ventured! Tho' who's to say that the vintage fgures folks have mentioned wouldn't work famously with vintage SW ones?...)
Now, Yaddle... Yes, definitely female, but... not very customizable, I'd think. I left out Ashla from the Bear Clan two-pack for the same reason. Though on second thought... Any thoughts, folks?

-
No prob! I just thought I'd throw them on there. You never know, you may find them at a garage sale or flea market. Plus, since they have less than great sculpts, they could be used as vintage custom perhaps.
-
Well, how about having a whole separate list for vintage-type customs, including the 80s figures you mentioned and the available vintage SW femmes? But I'd rather someone other than me managed that particular list, since I don't know anything about the vintage figures whatsoever! What sayest thou, Rolla? :)

There is also the WOW Action Girl line of figures, but they're a trifle cartoonish looking.
I agree that we should try to create a "modern" only line which would preclude many on Rolla's list (no offense :) ), like the Buck Rodgers, MASH, old GI Joe, 80's cartoon and various Mego figures.

Sounds nifty, Quazar! I'm not familiar with that line -- have you ever used these figures or parts in your own work? And could you send me a link, by any chance? Searching "Action Girl" and even "Action girl figure" didn't give me anything looking like li'l plastic toys! :o
Again -- any volunteers to maintain the vintage femfig list? Let's keep this thing alive, folks! :)

actually, action girl is where I found most of those I listed. I kinda agree about the modern only thing really.

Findswoman, I'm surprised you don't know these figures. I could have sworn that the arms used in your Isnard figure were from that line.
They're the female action figures from Lanard toys, discontinued around 2000. I snagged a bunch on ebay a few years ago (after waiting months and months for some to reappear at reasonble prices - they became quite scarce overnight.)
Here's a link to some pictures -
http://community-2.webtv.net/The_Corps/WowActionGirls/
If I get a chance, I'll try to take some better pics standing alongside SW figures. They are usually just SLIGHTLY taller than most human figures in the SW line.
Their faces are rather generic looking and not finely sculpted, but they're certainly better than SW vintage, but certainly not at the modern level. As such, it's not easy to categorize them into our binary system.

Oh my gosh, yes, you're right! In fact, now that I've seen this link, I realize I have a few parts from these Action Girl figures kicking around my fodder box: the jockey outfit, arms and body from the sports bra outfit, & a few of the heads. And I think the arms I used for Isard came from the jockey girl. I just never knew before what line they were from! Thanks so much for shooting that along and helping put a name to the face, so to speak! Gosh, I'd love to find more of those, but they don't seem so easy to come by any more...

Mego and Galoob made lines of 3 3/4" Star Trek figures that had some very nice female sculpts.
This is a great resource for older figure fodder.

That is a good site, but it hasn't been updated in years and there are many, many ommissions. And there is also an emphasis on the old 80's Mego figures which are virtually useless compared to today's modern sculpts.
I believe that Galoob Tasha was already mentioned. She's not bad!
-
There were also 2 Mc Donalds premium Power Ranger figures. The pink and Yellow ones to be exact. Ive got them lying around somewhere Ill try to find them and get a pic. They are fairly abundant on the power ranger listings on Ebay, and relatively cheap too. I used to find them all the time at the varoius thrift stores I used to haunt back home.
-
I'm glad you posted this about the wow figures. I had the girl in the bathing suit, but sold her recently. I was trying to figure out this line earlier in the thread! :)
-
Incredible work finds. Off the top of my head i would have maybe though of 10... who know there were so many.
-
I am quite surprised that no-one has mentioned Microlady Material Force.

That's a very good addition to the list, Kambei! Thanks for the heads-up! I guess the reason it didn't come to my mind was that I was too busy thinking of figures that have to do with some property or other -- SW, G. I. Joe, etc. -- rather than blank template sort of things like the Microladies. But the Microlady definitely fits in. Thanks again!
