Title: Do you think we will ever see?
Post by: spec_spidey on July 21, 2006, 12:48 AM
Does anyone here think we will ever see a Grand Theft Auto type Star Wars game? I personally would love an open ended Star Wars game like this. It would have so many possibilities. You could create your character's appearance. Run around Coruscant or maybe Mos Eisley. Choose to be a jedi, smuggler, bounty hunter, sith, or Imperial depending on the era used. Maybe even have just a few medium sized cities on a couple planets you could travel around. It could even use a bit of the Fable morality feature to help determine appearance based upon actions. A game like this, I could play for months or maybe even years and never grow tired of it simply because the only reason I get tired of GTA games is because I prefer sci fi settings and the repeated use of profanity sometimes gets on my nerves.

We already do...they're called Knights of the Old Republic I & II as well as Star Wars:Galaxies.

Back when GTA3 first came out, there was a discussion here about how awesome it'd be if there was a Star Wars console game like that - something that didn't require subscriptions (Galaxies) or chew up RAM (any PC game these days)...

There's pretty much no hope that Rockstar will pick up a Star Wars title, and even if they did, it'd be absolute neutered for kid friendly play...

The closest we've come to a title like GTA3 is probably Bounty Hunter, where you can roam around for a little while, on a couple of missions.

Well it might end up like the star wars mortal combat game.
