Title: KKKKKHAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!
Post by: Angry Ewok on August 4, 2006, 07:49 PM
Here lately, I've been more and more depressed with Star Wars... I don't know if its all of the bull**** attached to the community, if its my disapointment in the novels and anime series, the inability to afford any of the merch anymore, or what...

Anyway, I've found myself catching more and more episodes of Star Trek on TV. This started a few months ago, when I was having dinner with a good friend who is a fellow Sci-Fi lover... he expressed his love for Star Trek, and so I asked to borrow his Series 1 DVD's of Star Trek Deep Space Nine...

Last night I caught the Wrath of Kahn... I enjoyed it. Now I can scream, "KAAAAAAHNNNNN!!!!" whenever the **** I want to, and actually know what the reference is.

So my question is, has anyone else started to take interest (for the first time) in Star Trek?

I've been interested in Trek for awhile. I usually binge on it once or twice a year.

I'd watch it regularly on Spike if it wasn't five hours of Trek. Sure, I love TNG and DS9, but two of DS9 and three TNG episodes is a bit much.
But, it beats buying the DVDs, which are still quite expensive even after the price on TNG and DS9 was lowered to about $55 a season.

I went on a Trek binge earlier this year, buying TNG DVD set and all 9 ST movies. It was pretty awesome.

I enjoy the Trek movies as much or more than most other movies, but oddly enough...I've never bought thing 1 related to Star Trek.

I have muppets, Simpsons, Halo, South Park and Robocop stuff sitting with my Star Wars crap, but not ONE representative of the Federation.  What's wrong with me?

Well according to MTV, Famine is one of the biggest Trekkies alive. :P

I've tried to get into Star Trek before, but I found it to be boring. However, the only Trek related material I've ever watched in full was Nemesis. Bleh. Someday I need to give Trek a second chance and watch the older movies/TV episodes.

Nemesis was the first Star Trek movie I saw, and I thought it was okay... compared to Phantom Menace, especially. The clone didn't look anything like Picard, though.

I didn't get into ST till about halfway through TNG's life...  I was hooked, watched TNG during it's height of popularity (right up till its last episode), and then was hooked on DS9...  My enjoyment of anything after that was small or simply non-existant...  Voyager had its moments and Enterprise I didn't care for...

The films are also so-so.  Some rock, others suck...  I'm still a die-hard DS9/TNG fan though and between Spike's re-runs and G4's re-runs I catch a lot of it.  Not so much on Spike but G4 I love...  I'm actually pretty pissed they cancelled their 2 a.m. showing of TNG.  I loved that and what they replaced it with is such utter bull**** it's not even funny.  I miss my bedtime TNG.

I'm a big fan of TNG series, and I watch every so often if I see it on.

Nothing extreme.

Star Trek, I grew up with the original series, movies & so forth. Gave up collecting the toy line as not much was hitting up here.

TNG was like Babylon 5 to me, watched a bit of the first 2 seasons & was not interested then started watching the later series & got hooked. TNG had a few good episodes, The Inner Light & Darmok are my fav as with Trials & Tribble-ations on DS9... what a hoot that was.  ;D

Voyager had it's moments & Enterprise was getting better before it was axed.

As for the movies, Khan is right on top & Star Trek: The Motion Sickness... blah!

We shall see what happens with Star Trek: The Beginning, just can't handle seeing rumored Matt Damon as Kirk!  ::)

I remember watching reruns of TOS with my older sister when Star Wars was still barely a glimmer in GL's eye.  And TNG satisfied my sci-fi jones during the dark days between ROTJ and TPM.  I never really got into DS9, Voyager or Enterprise though, despite the fact that I watched all three semi-regularly.  I also never bought any of the toys or other memorabilia.

I do like most of the movies, and The Voyage Home will forever be in my list of Top 10 Guilty Pleasure movies.  I'm already looking forward to the next movie in 2008.

Star Trek's way too nerdy for my tastes.   :o

I'm already looking forward to the next movie in 2008.

For some reason, I'm fearing a TPM-style fan meltdown from that one. I assume from the poster I saw that it deals with Kirk and Spock.

But then again, ST doesn't have near the hype, and dealing with Kirk and Spock might be what the franchise needs.
