Sounds like some good stuff. I'm interested in those Clone and Droid packs, I was under the assumption that Lego couldn't do Minifigure only sets because of Hasbro?

Nice.  And the best thing - no more megaphone guns (other than the battle droids).  It's about time we got realistic guns for our Lego figures.

That AT-ST is off the hook! I love the updated look and the driver. Definitely a must buy for me...

These new sets showed at TRU today.  Is this shuttle identical, except for the included figures, to the preceding version?
Title: Re: 2007 Sets!
Post by: Diddly on January 3, 2007, 10:49 PM
Nope, the old shuttle is a regular Imperial Shuttle (like Tyderium), the new one is the Imperial Landing Craft (the one in the ANH Special Edition that dropped off Sandtroopers on Tatooine).

Please excuse my stupidity here.  I understand we're dealing with a different ship based on name, duty, film, etc.  What I'm trying to rationalize is whether it's sufficiently different from the original Lego shuttle for me to buy it.  What I mean is when I've built it and put it next to the original Tydirium, will it look exactly the same?

Really, I'm not trying to be rude here, but if I can save $50, I will.  If it's different enough then I'll buy it.  Same sort of deal with the Y-wing.  I was going to chase the early release (Y-wing/Tie Fighter) but see no point now that a new Y-wing has been released.

I get what you're saying, and I completely understand. I think basically it just comes down to how bad you want it. If you want the minifigs, the new shuttle comes with 2 Stormtroopers, 2 Sandtroopers, and a TIE Pilot. And from what I've read online, it's bigger than the original. Overall there's probably not much difference other than size and body shape, so like I said earlier, it all comes down to what you want.

I'll get all 3. I think it's time I get all my older sets together and dissassemble the ones that have had remakes just to have more room.

Those new sets look awesome.  However, I really wish that Obi-Wan Kenobi's Red Jedi Starfighter had been sold in a seperate package like Anakin's Yellow Jedi Starfighter was.

It looks like LEGO is jumping on the Shadow Stormtrooper bandwagon as well with this set.  Interesting, I guess.

TIE Crawlers, that design anyway, originally came from West End Games.  It's gotten some mods over the years but overall that's the original design of it.  There's a littler version of it in the Empire At War video game and the two versions are differentiated in the EU.

That's a cool little craft, I'm sort of shocked they delved into the EU like that and made something so accurate looking too.  Love the working tracks and everything.  Shadow Stormtroopers are cool too.

Rebelscum forums are reporting that someone picked the Starfighter with Hyperdrive Ring up in Australia, so hopefully not long now until they hit the states... :)

I saw them at Toys R Us today - nice sets for sure, but with a Falcon on pre-order and a new Sandcrawler to build, I'm not in a rush to pick them up.

Which ones did you see there Rob? Was the tie crawler in?

What is the vehicle in the background of the BD troop transport set? I don't recall that one from the movie.

Sorry, not sure.  I saw the Starfighter with the Hyperspace Ring and the (is it) MTT?  The giant battle droid carrier.

Saw the Tie Crawler today for the first time at Target today - $49.99.  Awesome looking vehicle and this might be the first LEGO set that I'll ever purchase at full price.  Sure would be nice if Hasbro made this thing some day.

I've been going to town with LEGO at Target with their sale combined with the $5 coupon.  Generally I'll only buy these sets on clearance or with an extreme discount, but $10 off most of the mid size sets ain't so bad...Plus it gives me something to do while the snow is falling.   :)
