Title: Cautionary Tale about Corner Store Comics
Post by: Sith Lord 0498 on August 28, 2006, 03:03 PM
If this is in the wrong section, I apologize, but I wanted to let my fellow collectors know about the problems I've encountered with Corner Store Comics regarding my Hot Toys Robocop figure.

First, they completely skipped over my pre-order when the rest of the orders were processed. The error wasn't even found until I called last Tuesday to find out what was going on. While polite on the phone, they never did clearly explain why the order was skipped.

OK...mistakes happen...no problem...

At that point, I was immediately charged for Robo and told that they would upgrade me from UPS Ground to USPS Priority at no extra charge because of their error (it was a free shipping item) and it would be sent out last Wednesday.

When I didn't receive the figure today via USPS, I called CSC again to get the tracking number. At that point, I learned two things:

1) They still shipped it out UPS Ground...not USPS Priority as promised.

2) According to the tracking info, it wasn't even shipped out until last Friday...two days AFTER the promised shipping date and three days after I was charged.

While they do have a nice selection of products at decent prices, I'd think twice about ordering from them in the future if I were any of you. In fact, I'm finished with them. I'll order from Dark Shadow, Fireside, or other retailers in the future.

Just wanted to get that out there as a warning to others.

I ordered mine from Sideshow, same as my ED-209.

How much was yours?   I heard they were cheaper elsewhere, but sometimes I guess a trustworthy merchant is worth it.

$115 with free UPS Ground shipping.

I also want to post a follow-up.  CSC did get back to me with a full, detailed explanation of what happened.  Apparently, it all came down to my order not really being lost but part of an in-queue 2nd shipment from Sideshow to them.  As for the USPS vs. UPS mishap, it was also a victim of my Robocop being partially in-queue.

I do commend them for replying in this manner.  However, I do think they should have explained this to me in the first place (I was never told it was coming out of a 2nd allotment...which I would've fully understood) and they should've doubled checked everything personally.  They're not a large company, and mine was a very strange circumstance which would've benefitted from verification.

For my part, I am willing to give them another try but on an In-Stock order only.  I won't be pre-ordering from them anymore.  If I have two botched orders in a row, then any rational person would wash their hands of the company.

Well, I paid 129 from Sideshow, so you did better than I did.

Never ordered from them, but I have noticed that their inventory system needs work. Quite a few times an item has been  listed as "in stock", but then says out of stock when I click on add to cart.
