Title: The "Official" Master Replicas Prop Thread
Post by: BigDumbWookiee on March 22, 2003, 04:43 PM
Well, MR doesn't have a dedicated thread yet, so here we go! :)

And why not start with news of the upcoming Star Wars releases:

Making sure that March is filled to the brim with lots and lots of madness (or seemingly, lots and lots of mad fans), Master Replicas has announced the order dates for the last of their Spring Assortment:

Collector's Society Members:
Replicas will become available for order on March 26 at 9:00 AM EST
General Public:
Replicas will become available for order on March 27 at 9:00 AM EST

And the replicas are:

From The Empire Strikes Back:
Darth Vader Signature Edition (LE 500) $499.00
Darth Vader Limited Edition (LE 2500) $349.00

Luke Skywalker Signature Edition (LE 1500) $499.00
Luke Skywalker Limited Edition (LE 3000) $349.00

From A New Hope:
Obi Wan Kenobi Limited Edition (Weathered) (LE 3000) $349.00
Obi Wan Kenobi Limited Edition (Clean) (LE 500) $349.00

With only four days to go, Master Replicas has yet to release any official product pictures.
Title: Jedi Training Remote: Shipping Soon
Post by: BigDumbWookiee on March 25, 2003, 11:52 AM
I was just checking over my account information at Master Replicas, and the Jedi Training Remote has been billed to my credit card and now has a shippment tracing page set up, it appears that it will be leaving Master Replicas very soon!

I dont know what it is about this, but the JTR has me just as excited as I was when I ordered the first two props. I guess even though I love all the lightsabers, Im very happy for a change of pace.

I for one hope Master Replicas will slow down their lightsaber releases (they are going to go through all of their main sabers VERY quickly if they continue as the same rate) and give some much needed attention to gadgets and other weaponry. I really want a Jawa blaster! :)

They also plan on doing their Star Destroyer and Death Star replicas (3' in size), and these have been all but "officially" confirmed. Im terrified of what price they will run. But to please everyone, they are saying they will offer a smaller line of more affordable vehicle replicas.

Because of companies like Master Replicas, Dark Horse, Kotobukiya and all of the other great Star Wars companies, we are really starting to enter into a new Star Wars Renaissance

Let us know what you think about it once you have received it.  I don't own any replica items but the remote is something I wouldn't mind getting some day.

You can get that case, as well as many other incredibly nice cases at www.casesforcollectibles.com

This one is a 9x9x11 doll case, I may try to get cases for my Riddell Mini Helmets, as well as my Illusive Originals (Concepts) Jabba the Hutt and Rancor Maquettes.

Post by: BigDumbWookiee on May 10, 2003, 10:27 AM
Just got my new issue of Star Wars Insider, and guess what ad is on the back page! The Mace Windu AOTC saber replica from Master Replicas! No dates listed, but this definately confirms it. This piece looks so freaking cool!

I like Windu's saber.  Of course, at the moment I'm talking about the plastic cheapies but...

Any word on price?  Back to normal I presume?

Cool addition to the line, and obviously a most expected one.  Refresh my memory BDW, but Mace has got a different lightsaber in AOTC, than he had in TPM right?  Just wondering if eventually we'll be seeing the Ep. 1 hilt for him as well as well if that's indeed the case.

So I guess Qui-Gonn's must be next.  That should pretty much complete the set.  Still have enough room left in your case Boba Binks?   ;)  That thing is great by the way!
Title: Re: Mace Windu Saber coming! Confirmed!
Post by: BigDumbWookiee on May 10, 2003, 05:02 PM
Just heard from MR, and so far no release date has been set for the Mace Saber.

Snively, the AOTC Mace saber is indeed different from the TPM version. I havent seen pictures of the TPM version in some time, but if memory serves, these two are actually very different, so a TPM saber would be a nice addition as well

So I assume no signature edition, that was recently rumored will be offered also??  I would have liked to have SJ's autograph (but I'll still buy the saber without it).
Man, I wish I would have gotten my Insider today, I'd like to see the photo.  Heck, I'm still waiting for my gold member prop....I wish this little black cloud would quit following me around!! ;)

I do not have to buy this saber. I already have one from SaberArt. :)

The only differenc is that my saber is cad and not the polished brass. I could of bought brass but I opted for the cheaper saber. Anyways, I am glad that MR is doing Mace. Lots of people will be happy.

Now if someone would do a decent E2 Anakin saber.
Title: Luke's ESB Saber from Master Replica
Post by: jadesfire on May 23, 2003, 05:05 PM
Well, it finally arrived and it is another nice piece.  I was lucky enough to get a number that actually matched my Obi-Wan saber so I thought that was pretty cool.  I also didn't seem to have the smudge problem that others had on the signature plate.   That's the positive side, the negative side is that one of the saber "igniter" buttons was broken.  I emailed MR with photo's of the piece and am hoping that they can just mail me a new piece to screw in as my husband doesn't think any "normal" glue will hold due to the spring inside.

All in all, it's a cool saber and is in the medium weight range of all the ones they have made.  I wish the holders inside the display stand were a little higher so that the plaque didn't cover up part of the saber, but it's not too bad and I was expecting that (as I had the same problem with my signature Dooku plaque).

As for the signature edition itself, I am undecided if I will continue to pay an extra $100.00 for an autograph plaque that might tarnish (or come loaded with fingerprints) and a display case that doesn't really accomidate the larger plaque.

You need to scroll down to the bottom to see the saber in the black case it came in and a photo of the plaque.  (aand as always..load times vary :P)

You have a great collection of props and replicas.  That Luke ESB lightsaber is sweet, but I've always liked his ROTJ saber better.  The only replica item I currently own is that Anakin FX saber, which is very cool but not as cool as the true replica sabers that's out there.

Heck yeah!  I'll obviously reiterate what Chris and Dale already pointed out - very nice collection Beth!  Oh how I'd love to jump into the MR line, but I'm with Chris in that I only have the Anakin FX saber so far.  The regular hilts are just too much for me to cover right now with all the TONS of other SW stuff I collect.  Hopefully I can delve into this line later on in the future though.  It's some really beautiful stuff!  I'm sure a Stormtrooper blaster has got to be on tap as we speak, as well as Qui-Gonn's lightsaber too!   8)

Beth, how long approximately are those saber hilts?  I'm just curious how they compare to the Anakin FX version that I have.  I know that mine is not as authentic, as it's a little bigger to accomodate the electronics, but I was curious just what the difference really was.  The Anakin FX saber hilt is just a shade over 12 inches...

Thanks for any insight, and keep up the great collection there Beth!

They are all around 11" long with the exception of Dooku's saber (which is just under 13").  Thanks everyone for the kind words, my props are the pride of my collection.

Wow, how odd this came up when it was just being discussed yesterday over in the props forum at RS!!??
That's a great option and will probably help MR sell more directly to consumers since other sites that offer the sabers for a cheaper price don't have payment plans.

So, on the limited number of Dooku sabers....any guesses on which company has a bunch left over and wants to dump them back in MR's lap??

I think its cool, but I will be happy with one that looks identical to it, with a plaque signed by Sam Jackson. And as a matter of fact, that will happen soon! :) The AOTC Windu Saber goes on sale for Collectors Society members on July 1! And there will be a signature edition!

I have an artist proof for the Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker lightsaber (from Master Replicas), and its really cool, but absolutely identical to the normal version.

Got my weathered ANH Obi Wan saber today, and it is by far my favorite Master Replicas piece so far! So far I've collected all of their props, and this one really sets a new standard as far as detail and quality are concerned.

Here's some pictures, sorry they are so huge, but I wanted to preserve as much detail as possible:

Title: MR Signature Edition Mace Windu Saber
Post by: jadesfire on August 19, 2003, 09:33 AM
Just got an email stating that it will be shipping this week.  I am in flight one so I hope it gets here before next Tuesday or my review will have to wait until I get back from Dragon-con.  I am extremely excited to receive this particular saber due to the gold and silver trim.  I also like the new signature plaque (eliminates those nasty, smudgy fingerprints).

Title: MR Jango Blasters
Post by: jadesfire on August 19, 2003, 09:39 AM
Well, I figured I'd start this thread and hope that we can get a lively prop section going here.  Marz distributor posted pictures of these on their web site and stated that they will be available to order in October at a price of $450.00 per set.  No word from MR yet and no idea what type of case will be offered.  I like the offer but wish it was for one only.  If you wanted the pair, you could order two.  The down side of spliting the order is the case issue.  Who would get it?  Who would get the storage box if they were shipped together?  Lots of questions still up in the air and hopefully when I see MR at Dragon-con, I'll have more information to post here when I get back.  (or MR will make the announcement by then).

Break up the price in such a way that whoever doesn't get the case can buy/have made a custom case?  $200 and $249 or so.  Is $49 enough for a custom case?

Post by: Mister Skeezler on October 21, 2003, 12:31 PM
I'm really fighting with myself over this. On one hand, it would provide hours of enjoyment as I demand a raise holding a blinking and beeping thermal detonator, on the other, its $200 for something that doesn't really do much. It looks really cool, but its expensive.
Title: Re: Master Replicas Thermal Detonator
Post by: BigDumbWookiee on October 21, 2003, 01:52 PM
I take it you dont collect any of the other props?  ;D

This is the cheapest, and most "active" Star Wars prop from Master Replicas (FX editions dont count as props).

I do understand your concerns though.

I've been very happy with every Star Wars prop from MR so far. Although, Im not a big fan of Signature Editions anymore. So, if anyone out there has a regular limited edition Luke ESB or Darth Maul saber, email me if you'd like to trade it for a signature edition! :)

So far I have bought many MR replicas and I am very happy with them.
I have passed on the Empeor Cane when I heard about the T-Det arrivng just after. Now I am still deciding if I want to get this replica or not. I have been trying to make my own for a while now but I am not happy with it. Maybe, I do not know when I just may break down and get this item.

Who knows... it is a nice piece anyways.

I went ahead and bought this prop. I gave up on  making my own.
It is very nice, I am amazed on the size. Musch smaller than I thought.  I like the lights and sounds. I would recomend this item.

Now that I have this prop. I am amazed how off I was on the version I was trying to create. My version was about 3/4" larger.

Anyways it is a nice piece.
Title: M.R. Anakin Skywalker Lightsaber
Post by: Boba Binks on March 6, 2004, 06:12 PM
Well this afternoon I had a family get together for my 26th birthday which is tomorrow (3/7/78).
I received some items for my birthday but my most favorite is what my parents got me without me even knowing they ordered it. My parents got me the Master Replica LE Anakin Skywalker lightsaber from Episode 2.
...and they complain that I have too much Star Wars stuff.

It is a heavy piece. Heavier than the previous MR lightsabers. The size is also much smaller in diameter than I remember much like the Count Dooku saber. But when I think about the saber on display at C2 yeah it is accurate in size.

The grips on the hilt of the saber are made of rubber so they are a bit soft. Not like the plastic grips used on the other sabers. That is my only concern of this saber.

Also I noticed that the saber shown in the E2 Visual Dictionary is WRONG. The image in the book is mirror imaged so the little LEDS are on the wrong side of the saber. So if anyone recreated this saber using the image in the Visual Dictionary their saber is wrong.

Anyways. The saber is nice. It looks good in my saber case. Yes I pack the display cases that come with the sabers away. I now have all the main character lightsabers plus a Lego Saber replica.  Take a look.

I think I have all the lightsabers that I want from Star Wars unless there is a new one used in E3 by a main character that has not been seen yet.  :-X  Then if it is availabe I will get that one. As far as I am concerned the lightsabers for Obi-Wan and Anakin in E3 are the same as the ones used in E4+ just with a different belt attachment. They are basically the same sabers so I will not go for those.

So does anyone else have this saber? What do you think?

What a great gift!!!  I also have this saber and I think it's fantastic.  I love the shine but was surprised at its size too.
I'm curious if you attached the plaques directly to the board or if you kept the wax covers on and used some type of tape.  I think your display is pretty unique and sure saves a lot of space!!

I'm hopeful that one day MR will make Qui-Gon's saber, it really is the only left that I HAVE to have.  ;)

Title: Master Replica Elite Edition - Luke's ROTJ saber
Post by: jadesfire on November 16, 2004, 05:02 PM
This item arrived today and in true MR fashion, was another masterpiece.  I really like the shine to this along with the green crystal in the emitter.  The only down side was I ended up with an error saber.  Usually they don't put the edition number on the saber but for this series they did and mine (along with a few others) had xxx/75 instead of xxx/750.

No one will ever really notice but I'll know...and that kind of sucks.  Anyways, I've got pic's up again.  Just go the "saber" album and scroll to the bottom.  I also have two shots of the "old" saber from when Master Replica first started along side this one.  I was going to just keep one but they are unique enough to keep both.

Nice collection display you got there. I agree, the Stormie blaster is an excellent piece, and I'm happy I was one of the fortunate few who received this piece in November and in perfect condition.

I posted a pic of my Stormtrooper Blaster here. (http://community-2.webtv.net/Mini-Rock/OriginalTrilogy/)

My blaster finally arrived about a week ago; but it was absolutely well worth the wait, it's a fantastic piece. This has been like Christmas all over again! :) I got my Stormie blaster, Snowspeeder and my Obi Wan Kenobi AFBB saber should arrive any day now.  Hopefully some of my Gentle Giant swag will ship soon...

Question: Are all of the 501st Stormtrooper costume guys trying to buy these to go with their outfits?  Or are they generally content with what they've already got for their blasters?  If the former, then this has got to be a tough one due to the added demand from that whole other subset of people who might not normally be collecting the MR line...

Not that I collect them myself, but I was just curious.  Granted, I'd love to get into them at some point, but I'll just have to wait 'til Adam's ready to sell his collection off to me.   ;)

P.S.  Welcome to JD Mini-Rock!

I think some 501st members picked them up, but the blasters are two heavy to troop with (they'll pull off holsters easily). MR was toying with the idea of a "501st Edition" made of lighter materials. As of right now that's on an indefinite hold. They're releasing an Empire Strikes Back version later this year, so that will give MR another opportunity to consider the 501st Edition.

Well, we do have dedicated threads already going for the:

Mini-sabers (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=4455.0)

and

FX lightsabers (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=5863.0)

So I think we should keep rolling along with those two at least (especially since I just bumped 'em  ;)).  Good to separate out some of MR's sublines a little.  But I agree it's a good idea to maybe get an official Props one going here.  I've actually thought about merging all the older MR prop threads together and making that the official one, but haven't gotten around to it yet, so I guess this will do for now...  Personally, I wouldn't mind a separate Vehicles (Studio Scale) thread as well, maybe, since those are pretty unique in and of themselves...  Whatchya think, Adam?

Imperial AT-AT, second edition?!  WTF's up with that?  What's the difference?  Or did they just sell out and thus decided to make some more (likely pissing off everyone that bought the first one?
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: BigDumbWookiee on January 19, 2005, 06:11 PM
Nobody knows for sure what the 2nd Edition ATAT will entail, except that it will be "noticeably different". Hopefully the crashed one...

If you're into minis, you're in for a treat from the looks of it! :)

All I know is that this damn winter is killing my money tree and by the looks of things I am gonna need a full bloom this year!! ;)

I'll pass on the F/X's in the beginning and get my mini's from JD again but will probably buy Anakin's Obi's saber straight from MR, along with Han's blaster.  It's a bummer about no working trigger like the ANH version but I'll take it anyways.  I'm hoping for a better release this time (no more March madness please) and really hope they don't throw in an EE when putting multiple items up at once.

I am doubtful about picking up the vehicles or the helmets but I think they'll do extremely well.

All in all, looking forward to another awesome prop year and trying to figure out where the hell I am going to put all this stuff :-\.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: Mini-Rock on January 20, 2005, 04:48 AM
I agree. What a great year for prop replica collectors. The "LE's" are on my want list along with the Vader and Clonetrooper Helmets. RE the Luke ANH EE, I believe it's going to be a 1Q or 2Q release; so, luckily everything is spaced out well. I bet some of the 3Q and 4Q releases probably won't come out until 1Q '06 anyway.

Good idea on the dedicated MR prop thread. Hey, how about a dedicated thread for the GG Statue line? :)
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: JediMAC on January 27, 2005, 08:26 PM
Alrighty, you guys (and gal) really have an official MR thread now!   :P

I just merged up all the old ones (sorry Beth, since you'd started most of 'em) and consolidated them altogether here.  Even kept Adam at the helm, leading the charge! (had to leave out the very first Maul saber report to do so ;))

So carry on with all the MR discussion of the full scale blasters, lightsabers, news, etc.

But we'll keep rolling with the mini saber and FX saber thread separately, since a whole different group of people collect those here.  Cool?   :)

You want to keep the vehicles in here too, or discuss them separately, since they're kind of different than the rest of the blasters and lightsabers...?  I haven't merged the MR AT-AT thread in here yet, pending some of your thoughts, so LMK!   :-*

Just wish I had the balls to delve into these, but with everything else I collect, these would just put me (way) too far over the top of my collecting budget.  Beautiful stuff though.  Jealous of you uber-prop collectors, I am!

And when I first saw the length of this thread I figured I missed out on a major news release  :-\.

Waiting patiently for next week to see how much the three sabers are going to cost from MR versus JD or someplace else.  Since I am already a member for 2005, I'll be able to get the exclusives and will probably pick up Han's blaster from Master Replica directly so I am initiated into their club again for 2006.

The retail for the sabers will be $370. Hopefully wholesale prices will be available soon!

Post by: jadesfire on February 4, 2005, 08:23 PM
Well, I got through at 8:30am on Thursday morning and ordered Obi-wan's and Anakin's sabers and Han's ESB blaster.  I was going to use JD on Anakin's but I figured what the hell...and just ordered it from MR.  I am waiting to see about the case for the mini's so I'm holding off on that and will pick up the f/x's from JD for sure and maybe Leia's blaster since it took a nice drop in price.  Anyone think the blaster will go lower than $280.00??

I really did like the way both ROTS sabers turned out.  Very sleek designs and just enough differences for me to want both (though I probably would have gotten them anyways).  I really am looking forward to Sidious's saber the most, especially after seeing the sneak peek earlier.  I hope they have it at Toy Fair the end of the month.

Bumping this up so you can see the nice picture that Darth _Hideous took at toy fair of Sidious's saber.  He posted this over in the RS "prop" forum and I want to make sure he gets the proper credit for it.  I hope it's ok to post the picture directly instead of supplying a link.  It really gives you a good idea of the size in front of the mini display:

Well, if you're a member of the MR Collector's Society, you can order the Emperor Palpatine lightsaber (full scale LE as well as a mini) at 12:01 AM tomorrow morning! They go up for sale to the general public on April 4th.

Also up for sale are not one, not two, but THREE clone trooper helmets! A standard variety, Special Ops helmet (retailer exclusive) and a Shock Trooper helmet (masterreplicas.com exclusive). The standard is your typical white ROTS Clone helm, the Special Ops is the blue striped version you see following Anakin, in the trailer, and the Shock Trooper is emblazened in a red deco, but I wont post spoilers about them.

Heh heh, I noticed that. They are also including a $90 discount when you place your order, but I'll be getting mine much much cheaper anyway from my dealer.

Also, word is that the ESB Stormie blaster isn't coming this year afterall. I kinda wonder if something else will be released in its place?

If one were to only pick one saber from ROTS, which one would it be?

I have the ANH Vader one and would like to pick up another unique saber.

The Anakin saber is similar in style to the Vader one, so that's out.

I like the Obi Wan saber but the Sidious saber is sooo unique.

Any suggestions?

Gotta agree with mini on this one, if I could have only one (oh how would I cope?), Id go with the Sidious saber. Its definitely the most elegant looking saber, a throw back to a finer age in the republic.

Me three-go with Sidious.  My Obi-Wan and Anakin saber are marked "fullfilled" and my credit card has been charged.  Now I am just waiting to receive an email with the tracking number!!  That's the only thing that bothers me though.  I haven't been getting any emails from MR (had to ask Amy for the C3 invite and my Sidious order confirmation) so I am not sure they have all the bugs worked out of their conversion yet.  I really need to know the tracking status of these since I have to make sure someone is home the day they are suppose to arrive.

Still pretty excited though - it's going to be an expensive month!! ;)

Not sure. Even though they look kinda "neat" I wouldn't have used them. I guess if you really wanted to know, you could shoot him an email. Keep in mind though that the sellers responses have always avoided the point; so, don't expect a straight forward answer. :)

Also, looks my seller is getting in their MR shipment this week, so I should have my Obi-Wan and Anakin sabers soon too. I have to admit though, as excited as I am to be getting these, they are kinda just filler until the Sideous saber and Clone Helmets are released. Those are what I am looking forward to the most.

My Obi Wan and Anakin should be just around the corner.

I'm really looking forward to getting the 'Scum brand MR display cases, it'll be nice to have everything in the new style cases, which I like a LOT more than the originals.

Definitely looking forward to the helmets, these will be my first replica Star Wars helmets, it will be great to get some well made, authentic, licensed helmets. Vader's helmet is rumored to go on sale May 19th.

Well, as of Friday night, my Limited Edition collection will be complete! :) My Thermal Detonator AFBB is in the mail, and Im meeting a fellow collector at the MR CS party Friday to pick up the Battle Damaged Maul saber! :) WOHOO! That's cool BDW. Personally, I have been thinking about selling my BD Maul and AFB TD. I'm starting to run out of room in my HT, and I figure that all I really need is one prop or collectible from each character from each episode. I also sold my AFBB Obi-Wan since I felt his EPIII saber is the definitive AFBB rather than an artist interpretation. I am shopping for Han's ANH Blaster also since that is the only one I am really missing. :)

Regarding the plaque holders, I'll find out by Friday if I can get more; and, I'll be sure to let you know. :)

I don't own any of the MR "full size" sabers, since they are a little out of my price range. I've got all the mini ones, though. But I'm contemplating getting into the game with the full size MR's, since my girlfriend is all set to move into my apartment with me, starting in June, and that's gonna free up about $800 a month from my bank account  :D

Is it too late to expect to grab everything that's available out there already at a reasonable rate? I don't think I would go after the signature series, since they are even more expensive than the regular versions.

And is there a checklist online somewhere of everything that's been released thus far?

The only full size saber I have is the basic Vader version and I picked it up below MSR price.  I've seen numerous of the sabers go for less than suggested retail.  As always though, some go considerably higher :-\

How's that for vague?

Good luck on getting the "cool" sabers!

Yeah some of the subpar sabers are going for close to MSRP but take a look at the following:

*Windu
*AOTC Kenobi
*Yoda AOTC
*Luke ROTJ
*Obi Wan Weathered

You're pretty much screwed if you want to fill in holes unless you're "loaded."

....just my two cents - not worth **** these days.   :-X

Come one, come all to hear the wonderful news: In 2006, we will finally see replica props from the second coolest trilogy of all time: INDIANA FREAKING JONES! That's right kiddies, soften up em wallets, cuz Indy Jones is in da hiz-ouse. Or is that Jay and Silent Bob?

Anyhoo, he's folks it's true: we'll be getting a Fertility Idol, Staff of Ra Headpiece and the best item of all: the Grail Diary!

Later this year we'll also be getting some wicked fresh Chronicles of Narnia props. And, coming soon: a Rocketeer helmet and a studio scale Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

If Star Wars is you're only passion, then you'll be happy to know that we'll be getting costume replicas from MR, starting with Anakin and Obi Wan from ROTS. From the rumblings I've heard these will be complete: boots, belt, the whole kit-n-kaboodle.

None confirmed anyway. I heard a lot of rumors from people that Vader and Stormie armour were in the works: each would come as full armour sans helmet, which you can buy seperately (and MR is definitely making the Vader and Stormie helmets)

One of my most favorite pieces arrived today - Han Solo's ESB blaster.  It is a little heavier than Han's blaster in A New Hope and doesn't have much "weathering" but is just exactly what I was hoping for.

Yes, does anyone know when the rest will be shipped?  I know that MR ships the first 300 right away, but the next wave should be out shortly, I would think.

It seems appropriate that for my 100th post (Woo-Hoo!  Finally a blue saber!!) that I add a comment to the Master Replica thread.  Here is some infomration on the Luke Skywalker EE lightsaber from MR representative Amy:

I have some info on the Luke Elite! You will be getting an email about it by the end of the month, more than likely within the next week or two. There will only be 750 of these made and we expect that they will sell out within a matter of hours. There will be a couple of days in between the time you get the email and the time you get to order. This product will probably be shipping almost immediately upon order, at least for the first 300 low numbers. The other 450 will be shipping very shortly after.  The price is $525.00 with free shipping.

Very expensive, but what a piece this would be!  A bit rich for me, with the Yoda and Anakin ROTS sabers coming my way, but I can dream.   ;)

Any ideas on the original price of the shock trooper helmet?  I see they're doing a basic clone helmet that's marginally affordable, I might have to pick that up.

The Shock Trooper and Special Ops Trooper were each $50 more than the standard white clone, and both have presold out.

Thanks Adam.  I perused the page over at RS.  I passed on these because somehow I convinced my brain they were in the same price range as the Vader is supposed to be - at or above $1000.  Much as I'd like to have that, it's out of my price range.  These helmets are sort of out of there too, but I like both better than the white version.

So MSRP would have been ~$400 each.

Anyone have a preference of one over the other?  I'm leaning towards blue. :P

Post by: BigDumbWookiee on June 13, 2005, 01:44 PM
Tough call, the Special Ops (blue) will fetch a lot more on the secondary market: It's tremendously popular because of the clever nod these troopers got in the ROTS Visual Dictionary: they were referred to as the 501st by the author of the book. Naturally, they sold out insanely quick.

I prefer the Shock Trooper myself!

Does anyone happen to have any additional information as to when the Sidious LE will be shipping besides "June"?  The reason I ask is that I am beginning to see the LE's pop up on Ebay, not simply pre-orders, but the actual saber.  By the way, I received my Obi Ep III today #737. I think you will really be pleased with this one.  I like the color, it's hard to describe and it unlike any of my other sabers.  The nice touch from MR is they included a black polishing cloth with this like they did with the Luke EE.

That's what I've been hearing about the Sideous saber. The color is different depending on how the light hits it. I like that a cloth is included too. It's the one saber that I have been looking forward to most this year.

Are you getting the Luke ANH EE? I think I'll be passing on it and hold out for an LE. I had picked up the Luke ROTJ EE saber too, but didn't keep it since I already had the LE version. There's no doubt in my mind that MR will revisit the Luke ANH and release an LE version.

Well, if you blinked today, you missed your chance at Luke's EE ANH lightsaber.  The 1,000 units available sold out in a record time of 14 minutes.  I just checked my status at MR and my saber states it has been shipped so I must have been lucky enough to get in the first 300 being shipped tomorrow and Thursday.  It sure was a heart thumper when my shipping address (which was preset in their system) turned up incorrect.  After changing that, my credit card number had to be re-entered and I was nervous our server would crash any minute but all went well.  Good thing the partners were all gone to lunch  ;).

I'll post pictures next week when it arrives (since I didn't even wait for the page to finish loading to show me what it actually looked like :o).

Yeah, I want it too.  I just think the timing and the pricing are going to be too much.  I've nailed down the blue special ops helmet and if EE comes through, the shock trooper helmet.  Beth should be able to get the SWS.com exclusive as well.  No interest in the basic white.  But that Vader....

When does it come out?  If it's 2006 2nd quarter or later, I might be able to pull it off.  Prior to that, it's pretty iffy because of the other helmets and the Sideshow/GG stuff.

MR is having a sale at Comic Con, according to their blog (http://masterreplicas.com/customer/blogs/blogs_list.php):

Star Wars:
Princess Leia Blaster LE $250 ($149 savings)
Princess Leia Blaster SE $350 ($149 savings)
Rebel Blaster $350 ($99 savings)
Stormtrooper Blaster $400 ($99 savings)

Non-SW:
Aliens Motion Tracker $300 ($99 savings)
Predator Spear $200 ($149 savings)
Star Trek Disruptor $250 ($49 savings)
Cinderella's Glass Slipper $250 ($49 savings)
Mouseketeer Ears $100 ($25 savings)

I'd love to get my hands on the Stormtrooper blaster, but even at that reduced price, it's still to much for my pocketbook.   :'(

You'd also have some issues with it getting to Canada.  I'm not even sure if you can legally bring it over the border.  I know people up here own them and have them in their collection, but I think they have had to bring them back undeclared and they've avoided a search.  There's not much on those blasters to indicate they aren't real weapons.

Yeah, pretty much the reason I don't have these.  (Well, that and the whole $$$ issue  ::))  I'd never dream of trying to sneak one of those blaster replicas across the border - the amount of **** you'd get in from customs would be unreal.

I think you have to buy them from a retailer that has managed to get permission to sell them in Canada.  I know that Legends (http://www.legendsactionfigures.com/en/products.php?cat=710373090) carries some blasters.

Thanks for the update on the first page JD staff.  Some interesting tidbits up there:

Quote
Two more 1:1 scale clone helmets will be on tap as well.
:-\   Please, please tell me this includes the SWS.com helmet due out some time this month?  I'm short only one helmet if my EE order comes through.  I can probably tolerate two more, but three might stretch it.

I'm happy to see the confirmation of the Maul FX.  I love the way they're doing it and hopefully the screw-together mechanism is how I envision it.  It's been bugging me for months now - I can see the setup they need in my mind but I just can't recall where I actually saw that mechanism.  It's so solid it would be perfect.  I like what they've done with the price point on it, perfectly fair too.

Not so sure I'll be picking up the other FX sabers, I only really planned on one of each color and I'm mostly done.  Though my choice may now change for the blue saber with the announcement of the ROTS Obi saber - that's an ideal situation.  I was planning on getting the Anakin saber to fill out my colors with blue, but I prefer Obi's hilt and always felt the Anakin hilt to be too similar to the Vader FX (for obvious reasons, duh).  I was also hoping for a bit of time separation to build up some funds again (it's been an awful three months) so this helps that solution, gives me a blue saber with a preferred and unique hilt.  Thanks MR :)

Quote
Web forums for Master Replicas fans represents 1% of their customers. That 1% generates 90% of their feedback on the line. MR frequents many of the boards.
Sad to not see anyone over here, but aside from the FX stuff there doesn't seem much interest at JD.  I know Beth and Adam do lots of props but they address that over at RS mostly.  Sadly I find myself tuning in there again after all this time, but I only hit the Props forum and just read rather than participate.  RS is RS regardless of the specific forum.

Quote
FX sabers with removable blades are “so close you can taste it.” They are in the prototype stage.
I'm not sure if this makes me happy or nervous?  Are we talking a higher end piece than a regular FX and at what pricepoint?  It would be awfully cool to have a high end hilt that can have a blade attached and light up, sort of the ultimate saber.  But I have no desire to replace my FX sabers that I currently have (in hand or not).
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: jadesfire on July 16, 2005, 08:32 PM
In regards to the news about the possible hilt you can attach the blade to....I'm really curious as to this price point and the effect on "regular" props.  If Parksabers could get it done, I knew that MR had the ability to make them but chose to do exact replicas instead.  Then, when the f/x hit and sales went through the roof, they reviewed the possibility of making sabers with removable blades.  For me, this means less actual replica's down the road.  They would most likely re-make all the sabers they've released and since I already have Luke's ROTJ saber in two forms, one with a detachable saber doesn't interest me.  I was hoping that if they did anything, they would finish the LOTR line they started.  I'm only in it for Star Wars so none of the other lines interest me but it's cool for those that collect props from various movies.

All in all, I have mixed reactiions to their new products and was really hoping for news on sabers of the Jedi council or at least a commitment date for Qui-Gons!!

Thanks Jeff.  But you know what?  I'm not sure.  I think I'll wait and see if it's still there next week.  I don't feel like dropping another $500 CAD at the moment and I'd have to pay Beth right away if she ordered it for me.  It's also not substantially different enough from the 501st helmet in my opinion.  If I didn't have the 501st, I'd be all over it, especially at a smaller edition size.

Oddly I just received an update from EE stating that I have an outstanding order and it's for the shock trooper helmet, so it looks like I probably got my order in on time for that one.  At least I hope so.

I'm not expecting it to last long, ebayers and dealers will be all over it.

Good thing you didn't ask me to get it for you Brent as I tried a few days ago to read the hyperspace comic strip (I do that daily) and for some reason, I couldn't get in.  I checked my magazine and my subscription is good until Nov/Dec of '06.  So, I email them and am STILL waiting for a frickin' response.  Nice...real nice.  Had I wanted that 12" Vader or Luke or this helmet I would have been ****-out-of-luck.

That's kinda harsh isn't it?  I am an RS member and I only bought 1 and that 1 is for my personal collection.  Not trying to be rude or anything, but you shouldn't assume that all RS members are just out to make a profit on Ebay.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: Morgbug on July 31, 2005, 11:04 PM
Sorry, when I go into the Props forum and see more than one person in there admitting that this is exactly what they did I don't consider it harsh.

I'm a member at RS too, have been since around 2001, I just don't bother posting there any more.  And if I recall some pretty intense discussions surrounding Gentle Giant busts, this sort of activity is not acceptable to management there either.

There's no malice directed towards anyone that simply ordered a single one.  I have every option to be a hyperspace member but choose not to be.  Had a bunch of people not decided to ebay/scalp/double up on these, then I would have been able, as a non-hyperspace member, to order one shortly.

I'll live without it, no doubt about that and frankly they probably saved me a good chunk of change.   That's a plus.

Again, it's nothing personal against anyone that ordered a single helmet.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: Matt_Fury on August 1, 2005, 12:56 AM
I don't know why anyone would buy more than one of these unless it was to scalp it on ebay or something.  There may be some people that would get an extra for a friend who wasn't a Hyperspace member (Beth and other collectors come readily to mind), but they are in the minority I think.

All of the MR stuff I have purchased I only have one of with the exception of the ROTS .45 scale Obi-Wan saber, and that's only because my original order was back-ordered and I ended up seeing one at Best Buy and decided to grab it.

On another note, I just made a recent purchase.  I bought the LE Obi-Wan ROTS saber.  It's my first LE item I've purchased from them.  I hope they remake an AOTC or TPM Obi-Wan saber sometime.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: Morgbug on August 1, 2005, 01:35 AM
Just to be perfectly clear, over in the RS thread dealing with the helmets, at least one person admitted to buying more than one for the purpose of reselling.

I have precisely zero problem with people buying them for themselves and their collection (duh) or helping out other collectors who may not be HS members.  That's no issue at all.

I am not tarring all RS members here, just commenting on some of them.  At the same time, to their credit their at least admitting what they're doing.  Still, in the absence of all these helmets that will make their way to ebay at inflated prices, it wouldn't be hard for actual collectors to get hold of them.  That's all.  Frustration.

And I should have been more explicit in my statement in that I meant to say all the RS members that bought more than one for the purposes of reselling.

Once every 24 hours.  Their system knows if it has been 24 hours or not (and both your registrations are cancelled if you try to do it before your time is up...according to Amy).

I'm still speechless on the price of the Mask much less the autograph versions!  With only the display stand, that means you have to shell out at least another $80.00-$100.00 for a display case!!  As much as I love it, I'm gonna have to pass.  I'll be grabbing Vader's saber though since I have to buy something  :-\.

I have a question about the Acrylic cases for the LE sabers.  Will MR sell them separately or can you only get them when you buy one of the sabers?  (I know the ROTS Obi-Wan saber I've ordered comes with one).

Originally, the cases were offered separately from the props, but now they come standard. Philip, over at Rebelscum, is currently working on getting some cases made for a number of sabers. If you are interested, go to the props section on the site and check out the sticky thread. :)

If you are thinking of ordering this, I would suggest you be online and ready to go as I predict another 10 minute sellout.

PS:  I just hope the sale isn't after the 27th as I will be in transit to Ohio and no internet connection.....that being said, I probably can give you the date: September 29th, the day I have no computer  :-\.

Better get a good night’s sleep September 28.
Because at 9 a.m. (Pacific Daylight Time) on September 29, you’ll need to be at your best.

That’s when the Obi-Wan Episode I Elite Edition lightsaber replica goes on sale to
Collector’s Society members only.

There are only 1,250 available worldwide—and our last Elite Edition sold out in 14 minutes.
Replicated from Lucas archive materials, this exclusive lightsaber is the spitting image of the one that made its dashing debut in Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Check out these dazzling details:

Polished, high-grade stainless steel, brass and aluminum construction
Genuine crystal in the LEDs and “purple hemisphere”
Brass detail parts plated in genuine 18k gold
Premium black and red anodized finishes
Accurate “female knurling” on the red control knob

Limit 1 Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode I Elite Edition Lightsaber per Collector’s Society member.

Only Collector’s Society members are eligible to order the Obi-Wan Episode I Elite Edition lightsaber. If you’re not a member, you may want to consider becoming one. (Otherwise, you’ll lose a chance to own this exclusive lightsaber—not to mention hours of sleep).

@#$%^&*()!@#$$%  I just KNEW that it would go on sale September 29th. :(

Oh Brent....good buddy....I need a BIG favor!!!

I'm on it.  We need to figure out some details though, re: payment and shipping location.  I've no problem ordering it and paying for it up front, it's the shipping address versus billing address **** that can be a sticking point.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: jadesfire on September 20, 2005, 05:28 PM
Not sure how the shipping vs. billing address works when it is out of the country.
I always order my MR stuff and have it sent to where I work (different city and all) and assume that just because you live outside the US, you can still have stuff mailed to a USA address.  I guess I'd better give MR customer service a call and find out.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: jadesfire on September 20, 2005, 05:32 PM
Well, I just spoke with Tracy at MR and she stated that there are two sections when you order.  One is for your billing address and one is for shipping.  As long as you are a collector society member (and logged in before the item goes up for sale so you can actually SEE it when it hits their site) you should have no problem using a shipping address within the USA even though your billing address is Canada.

Hey Beth, could you order this through MR's 800 number?  Just a thought.

Also...where on the website will this saber go up for sale?  The LE section or somewhere else?
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: jadesfire on September 24, 2005, 10:52 AM
You can order this through their toll free number but they don't have a ton of operators.  I assume it will sell out with 15 minutes with only a handful of orders via phone.

It will be under the LE section so make sure you log in and they recognize you as a member or you will never see it at all.

Hey everyone,

I just got an e-mail from MR with the following news:

-The Darth Vader Episode III mini-saber is now in stock

-The Yoda LE Saber will end its production run at 2,900.  New plaques are being produced for those who ordered one and if you ordered through MR you should receive it automatically.  If you ordered it through an authorized dealer, you need to send an e-mail to yodaplaques@masterreplicas.com.  Also, allow 8-10 weeks for the plaque because they are just now being produced.

- There are 48 Dual Signature Darth Vader Helmets left and the Signature Edition of the Helmet has actually been oversold!  No word on what they will do with people who put in an order after the last one was sold thoug.  I'm guessing waiting list.

-Although the EE Obi-Wan saber is sold out (took a few hours that day thanks to people only being able to order 1 saber), you can still be put on a waiting list in case you would still like one.  Call MR at 1-866-REPLIKA

-New Inventory available this month:
     Battle Damaged Maul mini-saber
     Luke Skywalker ROTJ mini-saber
     Darth Vader Episode IV mini-saber
     Darth Vader Episode III mini-saber
     Mace Windu Episode II mini-saber
     Yoda Episode III mini-saber
     Han Solo Blaster--Limited Edition
Darth Sidious Episode III Lightsaber--Limited Edition
Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode III Lightsaber--Limited Edition

I also got an e-mail that my battle damaged Maul mini-saber has shipped!   ;D

Here's something a bit odd.  I just checked my account on MR and noticed that the LE Obi-Wan ROTS saber has shipped, but I never got an e-mail telliing me that it had, so I have no tracking number.

Will be a nice suprise to see this one on my doorstep sometime this week.  :D

So I checked the MR page for this big sale going on, and all that I saw on sale were most of the .45 scaled sabers were $10 off.  Not a bad deal on some cool prop replicas, but I thought there would've been price cuts across the board for a one day sale.

Some pretty serious griping over at RS on that fact.  Kind of entertaining to read and poor Amy has spent considerable time online today :-X  I looked around, but nothing I really wanted.

I actually find it funny Brent.  Amy goes on to answer questions all the time and RS people are basically ripping the sale.  Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.  Damn Scummers!   :P

Yup, it's definitely good for a chuckle.  Sure, I'd like to see a couple hundred off the Vader helmet too, but I didn't expect it to happen.  I think MR would have caused themselves infinitely more grief had they put everything on sale.  They'd have been processing cancelled orders for weeks.

Very surprised at how they hyped up the sale and it was seriously lacking.  I did pick up a mini ROTS Vader for $22 shipped.

I think you could've seen say a 10% cut in the FX sabers and possibly some of the LE items that have been on the site for quite a while.

I would've jumped at buying an FX saber from the site if they went on sale.

I would have gone after the Mace had it been on sale since I still have my CS $30 off coupon.

I was SO tempted to get the LE ROTS Anakin, but w/ Xbox 360 and Christmas approaching, I had to pass.

My ROTS Obi-Wan LE saber arrived today with it's nice low number of 3032!  ::)

I really like how this was done and wish I had started collecting these earlier.  I also like how the sabers now come with a black polishing cloth.  Great idea MR!

Now if I could just get a better acrylic case for the AOTC Obi-Wan LE saber I have.  :-\

Well I recieved my free Obi Wan MR saber from the reviewstarwars.com give away and it was the scaled replica version.  Can't complain as it was free but can complain because I really wanted to use it as part of a costum for next year.  Oh well, beggars can't be choosers...

Those .45 replicas are really cool.  I have a bunch and they were the first Master Replicas I collected.

They do have the LE version of Obi-Wan's ROTS saber in stock, they are a bit pricey, but worth it.

The more I look at it the more I like it.  I never thought I'd like something like this so I haven't bought any but this is small enough to not "get in the way" but VERY well made and "cooler" everytime I pick it up.   I'm starting the think about the Palpatine saber hilt now...Oh no!  I can't afford to be hooked on these things...
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread

I didn't like them at first either, but Ryan picked me up one at CIII.  I then went on a hunt to get all the Obi-Wan sabers.  I then joined the Collector's Society and got the Darth Maul mini-saber.  I then went and got a few of the Sith Sabers (Darth Tyranus, damaged Maul)  I then ordered a couple of the acrylic cases and then had to get a couple of acrylic cases, which had me buying a couple of the Anakin sabers just so that the cases are full!  These little sabers are addicting!

I'm glad the saber is growing on you.

I guess my Luke EE plaque has been shipped.  To where, I have no idea.  MR told me to my address on record but that would mean here in Chilliville and I have gotten no envelope yet so I am thinking it went to Michigan and is going through the mundane process of forwarding to my Ohio address.  We'll see.  :-\

I don't own that particular Saber, but I do have quite a few other LE/SE sabers.  All of them look fantastic, and the cases they come with make them practically museum pieces.

I doubt you'd be disappointed with it.  Do you have a Yoda focus in your collecting habits?
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: Waffen on December 13, 2005, 07:56 PM
not really. I just really like the idea of getting Yoda's saber because it looked really cool in the movies and I like the idea that the little guy had his own saber built to his scale... its an alien saber as opposed to all the other human scale sabers that are out there  ;D
and truthfully I've only recently been "reborn" as a Star Wars fan from a combination of the new movies and the Battlefront games. I was pretty crazy about the Star Wars when I was a kid and being 26 now I actually saw Jedi in the theater and can remember it.

unfortunately no... the seller had another Yoda saber for sale at the same time and a bunch of others so he didn't really individualize the auctions that much.. come to think of it I haven't gotten the "payment receipt" email yet from Pay Pal so maybe the guy hasn't even gotten around to accepting my payment yet.. grrrrr...

but on the brighter side I used a $15 off coupon so I saved a little cash  ;D

I'm rather glad that Obi's saber won't ship until next year...I need a break!
I assume many will be in an uproar, though, on some of the items.  MR did state for quite some time that the helmets would be out before Christmas.  Too bad for those that were really giving these items as gifts.

that new stuff sounds pretty sweet.

so how many of you are MR "collectors club" members? they price things weird over there... only $30 for mini-sabers but $350 for big ones and $60 for club membership  ???
blows my mind.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: jadesfire on December 14, 2005, 08:33 PM
I'm a member.  I have most of the items that MR sells that are Star Wars related.  I didn't, however, purchase the ROTS Yoda saber (congrats on that by the way) as I have the first one that MR put out and it's similiar enough that the minor "battle" scars didn't sway me to buy the ROTS one.  The only saber I wish I would have gotten but never did (and one of the few items I am mssing) is the battle damaged Darth Maul saber.

The mini's are fun to collect and if you do decide to get some of them, make sure to pick up a display case!

PS:  Welcome to the wonderful world of prop collecting....there's no turning back now!!

I'm also a member and it has paid off, I got my ROTS LE Obi-Wan saber for $50 less than retail and quite a few deals on mini-sabers as well as some exclusives.

One other mention in the newsletter, you will now have to sign for items delivered from the MR website.  Makes perfect sense to me, since most of the items cost quite a bit of money, but now I'm worried that the EE Obi-Wan saber will now ship between 24 Jan and 6 Feb when I'll be in NY on leave!  :-\

no doubt the collectors club thing sounds awesome.. I'm just too broke from my latest purchase to afford a membership  ;D

it sounds like you do get a grip of stuff when you sign up. i may have to look into joining in a month or two when i'm sure my prop addiction will really take hold.

got my 1:1 ROTS Yoda saber in the mail today... so cool  ;D

thing's got some weight to it and the weathering is superb. If I buy another saber anytime soon it'll be a 1:1 Sidious. besides the theaterical signifigance of it next to my Yoda saber I think the thing just looks cool and they go for about the same price as the Yoda one (less than $300) so that works for me.
not ready to commit to anything else quite yet though. this one measly saber will have to do for now  :P

Master Replicas' (http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-1574383-10281570) Plans for 2006:

MR added this update to clarify the difference between Elite, Limited and Collector's Editions:

"Since yesterdays announcement, we've gotta a flood of email regarding the different editions we have planned for 2006, so here's a few facts about the Limited Edition (LE) vs. Collectors Edition (CE):

For 2006, Master Replicas currently has 7 categories of products:

Elite Editions (EE)
Limited Editions (LE)
Collectors Editions (CE)
Signature Editions (SE)
Studio Scale
Force FX (FX)
Scaled Replicas (minis)

We'd like to clarify the difference between the Elite Edition, Limited Edition, and Collectors Edition. Here's a quick summary:

Elite Edition (EE) - Available to Collector's Society members only and will be constructed from the most premium materials available.

Limited Edition (LE) - Available through www.masterreplicas.com and will have a numbered plaque with an edition size cap. It has the same construction as the current Limited Editions. Select International Distributor partners will be provided with a very small quantity of the Limited Editions to help reduce some of the international shipping costs.

Collectors Edition (CE) - In response to our customer requests for a less expensive/ "costuming"/more youth accessible prop replica. Available through our retail partners and will be unlimited. Collectors Edition replicas will uphold the high quality appearance but will use slightly different materials so that they can be priced lower.

There has been a lot of concern regarding the new Limited Edition/Collectors Edition strategy. Here are some key things to know regarding why we have a new Limited Edition/Collectors Edition strategy:

- When the Limited Edition version of an item sells out, then it will be gone for good. Through the Collectors Edition, new collectors will be able to still collect popular character's prop replicas for many years to come, long after the Limited Editions have sold out.

- Collector's with a Limited Edition will have a collectible that's part of a capped edition run. We hope to keep the edition runs for the 2006 products tighter than 2005 and hope that this will help maintain and improve the value of the Limited Edition replicas.

We hope that this will help clarify the new Limited Edition/Collectors Edition strategy for 2006, and provide our customers with the greatest amount of choice when purchasing their favorite prop replica."

I've got another question for y'all:

Does anyone here own the Anakin ROTS 1:1 MR lightsaber?
I think its going to be my next purchase.. it seems to have a little better ebay price than the Luke Ep. IV saber and I actually like the design a little more.. seems to be a little more streamlined than the Luke saber (even though its supposed to be the same one.) guess I've just really gotten into the whole prequel thing ever since I saw ROTS.

I think the CE is a great idea.  Wonder how they will look and what they'll cost.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: jadesfire on December 29, 2005, 08:05 PM
I'm guessing the CE's will be pretty nice and be around $100.00.  I am assuming they will not be as heavy as the LE's but I bet you wouldn't be able to tell the difference until you got up close and hold it.  Master Replica puts out some great stuff.

I am curious as to what the Collector Society item will be for 2006.  I've read speculation that it will not be a Star Wars item but something from one of their new lines.  I guess it makes no difference to me as long as the coupons are still available and makes the membership pay for itself.  I will be picking up Qui-Gon's saber for sure as well as the Maul f/x and Fett's blasters.  I won't be getting any helmets, poker chips or studio scale vehicles.  I would like to pass on the mini's but will probably cave and get them.
As for the Vader ROTJ saber....well, hell...I know I might as well add it to my list so I have all three but I have Luke's ANH saber already so I can't see getting another one.  All in all, it will make the collectors challenge 2006 in the four digits again!!

Y'know, it's nice and all, but I'm kinda happy to not be getting it.  I would surely have bought it, were I a member of hyperspace, but now that I've had lots of time to consider it, I think I'll be pretty satisfied with the Shock and Special Ops versions.  The Shock trooper version I'm still holding my breath on since I've had it on pre-order at EE for so long.  I was one of the people that got in on the cancelled orders but there were only about four total left over, so knock on wood I'll get hold of one.

I'll echo the sentiments I've seen elsewhere in that I'd prefer battle damaged versions.  The prototype pictures were awesome with the scuffing and scratching and if I can find someone locally, I might get them to customize them with some damage.

I already have an Obi-Wan Episode IV weathered mini... did I somehow travel forward in time to buy this a few months back, or are they re-issuing a saber? And will it be any different from the one I already have?

Help, I'm very confused at the moment.

No, you aren't in a time warp.  They released this Obi-Wan version as an exclusive first and now are re-releasing it again.  Some have speculated it is different but I don't see how (aside that the weathering itself can't be exact each time).

I think it's really wrong that they won't let you (me) use the 2005 coupons that I still have left after 12/31/05. It's not like the kit was available on 1/1/05, it didn't hit until April or May if I'm not mistaken. I think they should honor them at least until they announce the 2006 Collector's Society memberships.

Bastards!!

I also received the e-mail about the Elite Obi-Wan saber!  Hopefully it arrives before I go to New York on leave.

As far as the mini sabers, they look cool, but I already have all the ones I want so far, so it's easy for me to abstain.  The weathered Obi-Wan looks really cool, but I already have that one.

Good news: the 2005 coupons have been extended.   8)

Some of you have pointed out that we did not provide an official expiration date for your 2005 Collectors Society coupons. This is true, we did not. But our little oversight works in your favor - as we have decided to extend the 2005 Collectors Society coupons all the way through December 31, 2006. PLEASE NOTE: only the coupons are extended! The rest of your membership benefits - the newsletters, access to exclusive Elite Editions, the ability to purchase product in advance - have now expired.

Received my TPM Obi-Wan saber #53 on Friday.  I love the purple gem - totally makes the saber for me.  I didn't have any issues with my saber as some others did.  I posted a few quick shots on my webpage along with a comparison photo of TPM vs. AOTC.   Click to last page of MR sabers to see them.  I also got my Luke EE plaque on Saturday.  Pissed me off that it went to Michigan first after I was assured by MR that it was coming directly to Ohio but at least I got it.

Also had this letter in my email this weekend advertising the Luke ANH SE version.  I doubt if I'll be picking this one up since I already own the first EE and the subtle differences don't do much for me.

Seduced by tales of the Jedi Knight father he never knew, Luke Skywalker is recruited to the freedom fighting cause of the Rebel Alliance, armed only with his courage and a lightsaber that had once belonged to his father…
For the first time own an accurate, fully licensed replica of Luke Skywalker’s iconic Jedi weapon as seen onscreen in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope—complete with a customized plaque autographed by Luke Skywalker himself: actor Mark Hamill. This signature edition replica is accurate in every detail and features the correct positioning of the mid-band clamp as it was seen onscreen. Our previously released Elite Edition featured details that were seen only on the lightsaber prop used for publicity photos, in addition to being constructed from stainless steel.

Replicated from Lucasfilm archival materials and a direct study of an original antique flashgun and sourced parts used on the filming prop, each replica features:

Machined and extruded aluminum and brass parts
Seven co-molded injection molded grips
Injection molded plastic detailed parts
Museum quality display case with mirrored base and acrylic cover
Certificate of authenticity
Numbered plaque autographed by
Mark Hamill
Limited to only 750 pieces

MR must have a big announcement coming up because they've posted these 3 teaser pics over the last week:

Any guesses?

It's NOT the Death Star trench :

1) Death Star Surface
2) Turbolaser
3) Exaust Hole

It's a Y-Wing :

1) Y-Section of the ship
2) Upper Turret
3) Astromech Socket? Bay door for bombs?

Actually, my guess was the Death Star trench.  However, a Y-Wing (http://www.rebelscum.com/potf2/POTF2ywingflight.jpg) definitely seems like a possibility, but that 2nd pic has me stumped.  I'm not quite sure where it would fit.

I think maybe those pics are from 3 different things?

3 different things that are all planned for this year like a Y-Wing (pic 1 = fuselage), a Death Star Turbolaser (pic 2) and an X-Wing (pic 3 = droid socket)?

I think the point of Comm. Cody's reply was that MR wouldn't tease the release of something they've already revealed. I could be wrong, but I think that was his point.

I think it's something having to do w/ the Death Star. Perhaps it's a Trench with a few ships flying through it or something...

That middle picture just smacks of a DS Turret to me.

I agree..he didn't lay that comment very nicely..a little more tact and we could believe he wasn't trying to be an ass

I think Jeff is right-3 diff. things

-how about a death star trench run mock up- yeah, let's make it 3.5 feet long and wide enough for scaled ships to fly in

-turbo laser?...likely

-lastly a thermal exaust port requiring a direct hit?

* how about 3 pieces that fit together(you purchase separately) to create a
 trench run, Jeff?

** I'm just guessing at what it COULD be....not for someone to negatively 'judge' me by asking me 'seriously' if I thought this in sarcasm >:(

I think you could possible one of the biggest dicks on this board. I have never seen you be anything other than sarcastic and mean to people. You really should try and contribute something positive or just not say anything at all.

That first picture (of the three Jesse posted) is obviously a Y-Wing, it is the part behind the cockipt that the engines mount on to. The other two look more like Death Star pieces. I think Jeff and Jon might be onto something. The second picture really looks like a DS turret and the thrid appears to be  the thermal exaust port on the DS. I like the modular idea, but I heghly dought this is going to be anywhere near my price range.

I'mt hinking the one "gun turret" bit is just that.  You can see some of the tracks and that REALLY looks like the turret's barrels...

Definitely the one is the Y-Wing's rear fuselage...

The one that looks like an exhaust port COULD be that I guess, but it's not the general shape as I recall.  It could just be another part of the Death STar...  It alomst looks like a small fueling port on a ship though, so I dunno, that's weird.  That middle gun turret picture though looks just like that, a gun turret.

It's wrong to be happy about others' misery, but since I couldn't justify that piece, I'm happy (in a twisted way) they aren't arriving in great shape.  Of course since I have two clone helmets coming, I should probably shut my yap because the same will probably happen to me.

You are right though Jason, that is a disaster and a horrible thing to have happen.

Anyway....this version looks pretty much identical to what they showed at the con.  I really liked the theory that it was multiple pieces, and it seems like kind of a letdown that it's just a ship we've already seen before.

Yes, let me state for the record - Durge/Cody is an arrogant, annoying **** - and is not respected. At all.

So...

The ship is sexy, and I like the stand, I just wish there were more to it... To nitpick a bit more, I'd also prefer to see an R5, instead of an R2 (and I don't know who the R2 could be, Jay). Nice piece, though.

The studio scale items are way out of my price range.  Hell, I've been pushing it with the sabers.  They do look nice though.

As far as the Vader Helmets go, what a shame that MR dropped the ball on shipping these.  For the price each one of those helmets are, they should arrive in pristine condition.  Are the getting damaged in shipping due to bad packaging or was it something else?

They've dropped the ball on the other helmets too :o  No COA or plaque in some of the already shipped helmets.  I received the email that this has happened, so mine won't arrive until it's fixed.  Guess this doesn't qualify as July/August '05 ;)

Post by: Jesse James on January 30, 2006, 12:56 AM
Well since the gun turret piece was just that, and not the Y-Wing, and not in the original model, I think that's a pretty big surprise...  The way they incorporated the small turret into the piece as a stand is quite nice though, so kudos.

If I were a rich man I'd have these...  The AT-AT is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful items ever.  The Y-Wing is a definitely close runner-up though, that's sweet.  I long now even more for a Y-Wing to-scale for the SW figures.  :)  It's a ship that embodies the Alliance I think, even more than the X-Wing, and really it just sorta embodied STar Wars what with its lived in and used look to it.  It was that kind of set dressing that said that it had more story to it that you wouldn't hear about...  I like that.

I too would have preferred this with an R5 though.  Just for diversity's sake.  I hope Fine MOlds makes a nice 1/72 Y-Wing at some point.  I feel sure they'll get on it eventually.

Master Replicas is addressing the "quality control" issues with the Darth Vader helmet:

"Dear Master Replicas Customer:

This letter is to provide an update to all of our customers who have ordered a Darth Vader helmet.

As you may know, Master Replicas is facing some quality issues with all editions of the Darth Vader Episode III Helmets. All shipments of the helmets have been placed on hold until these issues are resolved. This includes the Limited, Signature and Dual Signature Editions.

First, we would like to apologize for this inconvenience. We know how long many of you have been anticipating the release of this iconic prop replica. Rest assured that Master Replicas is committed to doing our best to satisfy all of our customers needs and will do whatever is necessary to rectify this problem.

Some customers may have received helmets with a small scuff mark on the top of the dome. We have thoroughly analyzed this problem and have determined that this can occur during shipping. Therefore, in order to accommodate everyone most efficiently, we are contacting everyone who has purchased a Darth Vader helmet to alert them of this potential issue.

We will be performing a 100% quality inspection of the existing stock in our warehouse. Only helmets that meet our high quality standards will be accepted and repacked properly to avoid potential damage during shipping. These will then be used as replacements for any defective helmets returned for replacement. We estimate that this inspection will take three weeks to complete, and expect to resume shipping shortly thereafter.

Additionally we have discovered that the embroidery on one of the storage bags can also scuff the helmet. This component will also be replaced for all customers.

Since the damage occurred after our inspection in the factory, there is no way to determine how many helmets were actually damaged in shipping. However, we anticipate that the inventory of quality products will accommodate all replacement requests. We will have final confirmation of the replacement inventory once our inspection is completed.

For those customers who have not yet received their helmets, please understand that all replacement requests must be processed first. We apologize for delaying your shipment further, but we are making every effort to ensure you receive the highest quality collectible possible. We will let you know in the next few weeks when helmet shipments will resume.

This replacement program is completely voluntary. However, if you are not satisfied with your helmet for any reason, Master Replicas will be delighted to provide you with a replacement or a full refund.

If you did not purchase your helmet from Master Replicas or an Authorized Retailer, we will still REPLACE your damaged helmet. We apologize that we are not able to refund your money.

If you would like a replacement for your helmet:

1. Please email darthvader@masterreplicas.com no later than Friday, February 24, 2006 to request a Replacement Authorization number. We will also provide you with complete instructions and a pre-paid return shipping label to return your helmet. Please note that we will require all of the original packaging with all of the original packing materials.

If you would like to return your helmet for a refund:

1. If you purchased your helmet directly from Master Replicas please email darthvader@masterreplicas.com no later than Friday, February 24, 2006 to request a Refund Authorization number. We will provide you with complete instructions and a pre-paid return shipping label to return your helmet. Please note that we will require all of the original packaging with all of the original packing materials. Upon receipt of your helmet, we will credit your account for the total amount charged, including shipping. This will take approximately 7-10 business days after receipt of the defective helmet.

2. If you purchased your Darth Vader Helmet from one of our Authorized Retailers, please contact them to arrange for a refund.

Once again we apologize for this inconvenience, Master Replicas will do everything in our power to remedy the situation to your satisfaction in a timely manner.

Thank You.

-The Team at Master Replicas"

Ouch, that sucks for collectors who shell out big bucks (we're talking close to $900 here).

I've also seen reports of clone trooper helmets being shipped with scuff marks, shoddy paint, etc.

Glad I don't dabble in the props arena - it's too expensive for my taste and takes up a lot of room!

(Don't get me wrong, their lightsabers kick ass - and if I were more "financially viable," I'd be all over their product offerings)!

$150 is more than I'd spend.

One of the dealers at our local toy show had the Vader helmet on display.  That thing is HUGE.  The light was hitting it just right as I stood looking at it and I could see the scuff on the dome and how he tried to rub/polish it out.  He played dumb when I asked him if any of his helmets came damaged since there were tons of reports about it.  As I gave more info and proved I knew what I was talking about, he realized he wasn't gonna hook me so he pointed out the scuff and said he'd heard about the problems.

Yah, I love the Obi-Wan EE saber.

I almost forgot about Qui-Gon's saber today  :-[.  I had a brain-fart and right at 11:58 I realized what day it was.  I know that they don't sell out (being an LE) but I do like to get my order in right away for a chance at a low number.  So much for that idea, I guess they went up a little early.  Oh well, I used my code so it was $319.00.  Not too bad for a Master Replica saber in 2006.  Yoda's was $249.00 in 2002 and  Luke's was $299.00 (along with an additional $49.00 for the display case!!).

Sorry to hear that Beth.  At least you have one on order, I know you were looking forward to this one.  I debated last night whether or not to get one, I still have a CS coupon and could save some money, but I never got the damaged Maul saber so I can't get all the TPM sabers anyway.  It all boiled down to the fact I can live without this one.  Besides, I have to spend money on a 62 inch LCD TV and an engagement ring pretty soon.  :D

Besides, I have to spend money on a 62 inch LCD TV and an engagement ring pretty soon. :D

The TV better come first. I want to see some Stargate and Galactica on a bigscreen...

Kidding of course. :-*

Here's an update from MR about the DV Helmets - it looks like they be delayed for a while:

Dear Master Replicas Customer:

Three weeks ago today, we informed you of the decision to place the shipment of all Darth Vader Episode III Helmet editions , including Limited, Signature and Dual Signature, on hold while we inspected the product and determined the best solution to prevent damages during shipment.

We would like to share with you our findings and our plan moving forward.

Our expectation was to have adequate inventory of quality helmets for replacements after our inspection. As part of the inspection process, we also added a number of additional quality assurance measures to ensure that you, our customer, would be satisfied with this product for many years to come and be proud to display it as the centerpiece of your collection

Unfortunately, we found two issues in performing the inspection. First, more than the expected number was damaged in the shipping process. Second, most of the helmets have the potential for future damage due to the design of the magnetic stabilizing system.

We feel that with the combination of these issues, the helmets fall below the standard of quality that Masters Replicas requires and our consumers deserve. We have made the decision to return the entire production back to the manufacturer and make the necessary improvements. Unfortunately, this will further delay the availability of the Darth Vader Helmets. We have explored various alternatives that may have allowed us to return the product to market faster, but we have chosen this more conservative course of action as it will ensure the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction.

As of today, three shipments are in transit from the US back to the manufacturer. Once the shipments arrive, we will jointly develop a timeline with our manufacturer. We will share information with you through regular Darth Vader Update Emails.

We are offering a replacement program that is completely voluntary. If you are not satisfied with your helmet for any reason, Master Replicas will be delighted to provide you with a replacement or a full refund. Should you choose to replace your helmet please contact us by March 10th to ensure that we have enough replacement inventory.

If you did not purchase your helmet from Master Replicas or an Authorized Retailer, we will still REPLACE your damaged helmet. We apologize that we are not able to refund your money.

If you would like a replacement for your helmet regardless of where you purchased your helmet from:

1. Please email darthvader@masterreplicas.com no later than Friday, March 10, 2006 to request a Replacement Authorization number. We will also provide you with complete instructions and a pre-paid return shipping label to return your helmet. Please note that we will require all of the original packaging with all of the original packing materials.

If you would like to return your helmet for a refund:
1. If you purchased your helmet directly from Master Replicas please email darthvader@masterreplicas.com no later than March 10, 2006 to request a Refund Authorization number.

2. If you purchased your Darth Vader Helmet from one of our Authorized Retailers, please contact them directly.

If you originally wanted a replacement and now would prefer a refund due to the anticipated delay, please contact us at darthvader@masterreplicas.com

Once again we apologize for this inconvenience. Master Replicas will do everything in our power to remedy the situation to your satisfaction. We will be updating you on the status of the resolution no later than March 23, 2006.

Thank You.

The Master Replicas Team

Kind of a bummer that everyone has to wait a lot longer for the helmets.

On the other hand, at least MR is showing some awesome customer service skills.

Does anyone have any info on how the upcoming release of the Obi TPM LE will differ from the EE.
If i have this right, the EE is made of 'superior' materials but wasn't the actual prop lost?
So when they come to the LE will any of the materials differ from the lost prop?
How will anyone know?
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: Matt_Fury on February 28, 2006, 02:55 PM
The way it works, the EE is made of "superior" quality materials, like brushed aluminum, crystals in the hilt etc.

The LE versions are made from "higher" quality materials, the metal will be chromed, no little crystals but still a very nice piece.

The CE editions are not made as high a quality as the LE or EE, but are better for costuming etc.  They also do not come with an acrylic case as the other two editions but do have a nice display stand, and as where the others have a limited production run, the CE's will be unlimited.

Hope this helps.

No I haven't received mine yet.
Apparently they are shipping in February/March.  This obviously means more on the March side of things  ::)

They are supposed to be.  I think one of the last emails from MR mentioned an email address to send an email to so that you would receive the plaque.  I thought that was strange since previous emails had stated you only needed to do that if you purchased from someone besides MR directly.  I emailed MR and they said that they would send them out automatically if you ordered them from MR, but did not give a date.  I just remember some addition sizes being annouced a while ago and I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

I just received a free Vader Ep. III mini saber because of all the craziness with the Vader helmet.  I never complained about my helmet since it actually arrived in good shape.  At first, I though MR had screwed up my order with Ep. V vader mini, but they had a letter attached explaining the free mini.  Too bad I already had one, but maybe I can find someone who needs one.

I received an email from MR stating that they changed the material for Qui-Gon's CE saber:

Meanwhile, in other Star Wars news, Master Replicas would like to officially announce that a major  change has been made to the upcoming Qui-Gon Jinn Collectors Edition lightsaber. It was previously reported that the CE would feature a cast resin body; however, since that time, Master Replicas’ product development team has re-engineered the piece, and changed the resin to a   more handsome, durable die cast metal. To purchase a Qui-Gon Jinn Collectors Edition lightsaber, please visit any of Master Replicas’ Authorized Retailers.

Interesting....I had my doubts about the resin holding up and was surprised that MR retooled the materials to die cast metal.

Just got an email from MR stating next Tuesday, Boba Fett's blaster will be up for sale to CS members.  $579.00 for the LE version and $679.00 for the autographed one.  Since I already have Jeremy Bulloch's autograph, I will be passing on the SE version.

Here's part of the email:

For the first time ever, Master Replicas brings you a fully authorized and licensed replica of the legendary bounty hunter’s firearm from Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

Crafted with our customary quality and attention to detail, this exacting replica has been recreated from a surviving filming prop in the Lucasfilm archive and features:

Authentic weathered finish
Machined aluminum and brass parts
Diecast metal construction
Injection molded plastic components
Wooden handles
Museum quality display case with mirrored base and acrylic cover
Numbered plaque and Certificate of Authenticity

The did send along a nice photo and I am sure I will probably order it but I do like the sabers better.  They also didn't give any dimensions in the email but I assume the size of the stormtrooper blaster is an appropriate comparison.

Man, ever since I changed my email, I never get the MR newsletters anymore no matter how many times I update my account.  I assume the Boba Fett rifle goes on sale at 9 AM PST?  I have an all day meeting that day, but we get a break for lunch around that time (12 PM EST) so hopefully I'll be able to run to the computer to get the preorder in.  I have all the blasters so far and I've been happy with each one.

As far as I know, Obi-Wan is included in the "second plaque" mailing.

Official Announcement from MR Blog (http://masterreplicas.com/customer/blogs/blogs_list.php?1p=92&)

Just scroll down a bit, it's dated November 18th.  Don't hold your breathe though....as far as I know, only Yoda and Sidious have shipped.

My Qui-Gon showed up yesterday.  They changed the plaques back to showing the edition size.  I prefer that way better so we don't have to wait for a second plaque.  I'm still waiting on my Sidious one that they should be sending out.

Here's some pictures of my new Qui-Gon Jinn saber.  I also like the plaque the way it use to be.  I included a shot of both plaques for Sidious's saber and you can see how "cluttered" it looks.  I will probably take the size edition one out.
The newest pictures are on the last page under the Star Wars Saber section.

Just got an email from MR and included is a link to a cool contest (you don't even need to be running for a political postition to enter  :-* )

Free trip to Comic Con (http://masterreplicas.com/comiccon/index.php?newsletter=05_18_06).

They also announced their plans for the annual MR party:
Another Comic-Con and another incredible Master Replicas Collectors Society Party—this time, it’s a Costume Extravaganza! We are so excited about this event, not only because it gives us the opportunity to hang out and party with our customers, but because this is going to be the best party we have ever had! Instead of having the regular chip and dip, meet and greet party everyone else is having, we have decided to liven it up this year and have some real fun! Of course, you do not have to dress in costume to attend, but we certainly encourage it. There will be great prizes for the best costumes in the following categories:

Best Disney Costume
Best Star Wars Costume
Best Marvel Costume
There are so many fun events lined up, we can’t list them all. Here are just a few sneak peak highlights:

Special “surprise” guests
Grab bags for all CS members who attend containing lots of cool goodies
Awesome raffle prizes
Celebrity look a-like photo ops (and who knows who may show up…..maybe you can snag a picture with the real deal!)
Great food and drinks
This party may be one of the highlights of your Comic-Con experience! So if you are not a member of the Collectors Society be sure to join now so we can have the pleasure of your company.

Hey Beth, I have a quick question for you.  I figured I'd post it since it might help someone else down the road.

How did your moving experience go with regards to Master Replicas?  I know you were awaiting some items, plaques etc.  I'm curious since I'll probably be moved in with my Fiance before the Obi-Wan FX saber ships as well as the ROTS Obi-Wan plaque with the final edition number on it.

Also, is there a way you can go back and change a shipping address for something like that extra plaque?  I already have the saber obviously, but would hate for that extra plaque to end up in limbo because I could not update my address and MR use some sort of shipping that would not forward it.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
Post by: jadesfire on May 19, 2006, 12:18 PM
Well, I contacted MR after my move and was assured that if I changed my original order address to the one I am at now - my plaques would go to my new address.  They did not.  Sidious's went, via the US Post Office, to my old address but had a yellow "forward" label attached so I did get it here in Ohio.  I called MR about it and, of course, was assured that it wouldn't happen again.  We shall see.... ::)

I honestly don't know if it really was an oversite or their system is just using the address the original saber was shipped to.  I know if the saber hasn't shipped yet and you change your order, it WILL come to your new address.  But it didn't work that way for the plaques....at least not for me.

You can probably also send an email to all the plaque email addresses with your new address.  I had to do that with the Sidious plaque since they sent me two copies of the Yoda plaque instead of one of each.  I'll be happy once all of this two plaque nonsense is over.

I received my Obi-Wan plaque today and I'm kind of disappointed with it.  I thought they were re-releasing plaques with your order's edition number along with the final count like the older ones, not just a separate plaque with the final edition number on it.

Oh well, I finally have an extra stand for the AOTC Obi-Wan plaque I have that is displayed in a custom case.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread

Well, my last two plaques (Obi and Anakin) went to the place I use to work when I lived in Michigan (so much for the reassurance from MR that they would definately be sent to Ohio ::) ).

I'll probably just store them in the original sabers boxes since I think one plaque stand per saber is enough.

Just got my membership card in the mail.  Anyone else get their 2006 one yet?  I assume it was sent seperate since it has my name on it and since they royally screwed up the helmet plaques, sending out my collector society kit with the correct membership card would be a complete disaster.

As for those that ordered the helmets and received them, did you get your original plaque??
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread

I might be the only person around here that ordered a helmet.  So no, I received neither the helmets nor the plaques, so hopefully both show up when they're supposed to ( a full year after the initially planned release).

Thankfully/unfortunately I never did get the Vader, so I never had any problems, but I also don't own it :-\

I have the shock trooper on order with EE and picked up the 501st about a year ago on ebay.  Fortunately the seller is also an authorized dealer and has kept in pretty regular touch over the item as well.  Still makes me nervous though, waiting this long.

Ok, I missed one...I got my Darth Vader Ep. III saber second plaque yesterday.  Also, the Y-Wing came without an edition size.  Hopefully since it was up for preorder before the Qui Gon Jinn saber they aren't going to continue this trend.  Also, the turret part is separate from the base...I've seen any instructions or anything, but it does not look as if it can cover the post that the Y-wing rests on.  Anybody find anything different with this thing?

Hey everybody...

Been a long time since I've been here, but wanted to ask for your help. A fellow prop collector over at Rebelscum has fallen quite ill:

http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=25&Number=2046758&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=93&fpart=1#2046758

Master Replicas has kindly donated a YWing replica to be raffled off, with all of the proceeds going to help pay medical bills, etc. This isnt just a great opportunity to win a cool and expensive replica, but to help out a fellow Star Wars fan and prop collector.

Details can be found here:

http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2051693&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#Post2055244#2051693

Thanks everybody, and spread the word!

I already have Mara's from Jeff Parks and Obi-Wan's so that only leaves Ki-Adi Mundi's.  SInce I have already started to downsize my collection, I doubt if I will be picking up anything else but I am sure there will be a lot of happy people over Mundi's and the Biker Scout pistol.

So much stuff, it is making my head hurt.  All this after having to pay for the MF.  I wonder why they are listing the sabers and Biker Scout gun as just CE's.  If they are only CE's, I'll have to pass.

Sorry I couldn't find the original thread, so somebody'll have to merge it.

Apparently five orders for the Star Corps Helmet were cancelled, and so these are available on SWShop at the moment: http://www.starwars.com/collecting/shop/shopnews/news20061109.html (scroll to the bottom).

There's some other nifty "found items" there too ... I'm debating springing for the CIII bottle opener/keychain/pin set.

Master Replicas Blog updated today with some mighty cool items:

Yoda Force FX Lightsaber
Stormtrooper Episode IV Helmet Limited Edition (previously slated for '06)
Chewbacca Bowcaster Limited Edition
Rebel X-Wing Red 5 Studio Scale Replica
TIE Fighter Episode IV Helmet Scaled Replica

The Bowcaster is, of course, listed above.  And I believe the Yoda FX was widely rumoured.

Disturbingly those helmets are all incredibly cool though.  I can't see myself passing on the Tie Fighter helmet so there goes $400.  The stormtrooper is very, very tempting too, but with three ROTS clone helmets already (btw thanks Nathan, I pulled the pin when you put up the link for the Star Corps helmet) I'm not sure, even OT purist leanings in place, I'll get it.  The Red 5 helmet too is tempting, but least so of the bunch.  Not sure I want to part with $1200+ :o

The new site is up and running.  I just ordered my 2007 membership kit.  The exclusive is a mini Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber which they are stating is going to be the only version ever made in the mini scale.  No coupons this year, but you get 10% off of all purchases made in the 2007 calendar year.  Also, the old coupon codes are good till the end of March.  You sort have to resign up...seemed more of an update to me.  I have used just about all of my coupon codes, but they come up as available when I checked them.  Not sure if they would work or not.

I can't find a thread for the full size helmets so I am bumping this one up.  I think I might actually order my first helmet.  I like it and the fact that I could get the ACME picture is the key point in ordering directly from MR.

Maybe :-[

I have the Utapau, Shock Trooper and 501st already.  I desperately want the Vader too.  I am inclined to get the Stormtrooper though, given the OT nature of the helmet.

I can say this much about these though, they're just like really big Riddell helmets, so weigh carefully if you think that's worth the price.

I'm 50/50 about purchasing the Master Replica's Stormtrooper Helmet. After seeing the latest pics on their site, something looks off about this piece. For the amount of money they are asking for the helmet, it has to absolutely look perfect like it came directly from a Star Wars movie. I don't know if I'm feeling this piece or what. Usually, I like to do my homework before making a purchase. I know Master Replicas does a great job on their stuff. I love the MR Kermit the Frog that they released and was well worth the $200. I've seen the MR Allumium Falcon at a buddy of mines house on display and it looks incredible along with the MR Vader Helmet. Unfortunately, I have reservations about purchasing this piece because I'm not enthused about the pics they've taken of the piece thus far. I might wait things out to see what the final pics look like. If they sell out within that time, then they sell out. It's nothing big...

I agree, the shape is off a bit to my eye.  But it might be a benefit to me, I can't put the PT helmets on my head comfortably, my schnoz presses against the front (my head's a little bigger than most, I reckon).  The shape of the stormtrooper appeals for just that reason - it's off and looks roomier out front ;)

Is this helmet limited at all?  I mean other than the giclee that comes with the first 500 orders?

Well, I ordered it.  I haven't a clue if anything is off, it looks like a stormtrooper helmet to me and that's all that really matters.  Besides...I figure I get the print and I got 10% off and if I don't like what I see at C4, then I can cancel it.  I think 2500 is a bit large of a run so if you don't really want the print, I am thinking you can save around $100.00 down the road....

(my head's a little bigger than most, I reckon)?

And being the sweetie that I am, I am not going to say anything at all  :-*

Woah.  That's indeed some huge news right there.  They couldn't reach a reasonable new deal with Lucasfilm, it appears, after their license expires at the end of this year...  I'm assuming someone else is going to be given the lucrative prop replica license now, provided the two don't make amends by year's end.  Are there any other large replica companies like them?  I have no idea what other players are out there in this type of market.

Thanks for the head's up, Beth.

Noble Collection had Lord of the Ring stuff.  I never bought any of it but it didn't look that bad....I do know some people bought the stuff and didn't care for it.

I have Arwen's sword from United Cutlery and love it!  I don't know if Star Wars is something they would jump on though....

I was saddened to see the news. I just got into some of their Star Wars items. I bought my first and only Force FX saber last year around Christmas and thought it was so cool. I eventually got into the .45 scale lightsaber line because they were fun to collect and inexpensive. I was thinking about picking a couple high end pieces this year. But now with the news, the products can go either way...people will be clamoring for these before the product disappears for good or people will back off completely on the products expecting huge clearance prices in the same vein as Code 3 and other companies that had (and lost the Lucasfilm license)....

From an FX Saber fan's perspective, it sorta sucks...  However I have a feeling someone else will pick up the ability to make these, at the very least, if not all the other stuff MR made that nobody was really buying much.

I love their stuff but it's so cost prohibitive.    I wanted that AT-AT and Y-Wing like you wouldn't believe, but not at the price of a decent running used car.

I'll just pick up the last of the FX Sabers I want over time and move on now I guess.  It at least lets me know that the ones that are out are the best there will be at this point.

I'm not shocked though, and actually thought that Corgi might drop the SW license.  With the cost the license must have tagged onto it, a company like Corgi probably viewed it as nothing but a lot of fat that needed trimmed from their costs in general.  I was thinking when Corgi bought them out that MR's days were numbered, or at the very least they were going to drop most everything but the really popular and easy sell, like the FX Sabers.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Prop Thread
Post by: EdSolo on May 16, 2007, 07:03 AM
Even by their own admission, Corgi are idiots.  Why would you give up 20% of your business?  Did they merge with MR just to kill them off?  I would think this would severely effect MR's bottom line.

I really hope you are right and someone else is going to pick these up...  I also wonder if they are going to halt production all together or if they are going to continue with the FX sabers that were still slated for this year (Obi-Wan EPII, Build-Your-Own FX Saber)?  I was really looking forward to the Obi-Wan later this year, and like everyone else, hoping they were going to make the Qui-Gon, Sidious, and Dooku sabers at some point.

Kind of surprising news, although I wondered if anything would be changing when Corgi took over.  It kind of stinks, but I'm sure replicas will turn up elsewhere at some point.  This line (or lines) is something I've pretty much had to "admire from afar" due to budget, but it looks like it was one of the most well-done lines out there for Star Wars.  I always wanted to get a Luke FX saber before it was all said and done, so I hope to do that this year at some point.
Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Prop Thread

Considering it would seem the .45 sabers have had their run (without going into EU), the only pain I get from this is ... FX stuff.

I was so hoping for a Mara Jade or a redone Mace... Just to add the color done right to my set...  :'(

You can't negotiate with the likes of LFL, and it sounds like Corgi tried...and failed.  I don't know why they would acquire MR and then dispose of them.  I mean honestly, what is MR without SW?

By their own account, the SW license made up 93% of their total business!

What a bad move by Corgi's management - this opens the door for other licensees (am I the only one who thinks Sideshow is a good fit for props)?

Title: Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Prop Thread
Post by: Morgbug on May 16, 2007, 03:50 PM
No, I can imagine Sideshow salivating over the possibility of getting larger and more diverse with their material.  I'm thinking they're not set up to do some of the stuff, but I'm guessing they might be able to buy the necessary machinery cheap, say from Corgi ::)

'Scum just briefly posted a story but then pulled the entire supporting detail portion of it (or just messed it up) that MR has now backed out of C4, at least with respect to their booth and exclusives (Wedge helmet).  They said they'd still throw the MR party on Sunday (probably 'cause there were too many "celebrities" signed up for it already), but that their exclusives would only be available online later on at some point.

They also put up a short list of a handful of MR items that would still be made this year, but it was only about 6 items.  No more .45 collectibles (helmets or guns) it looks like.  Looks like the dissolution of the partnership was far from amicable, and there's some serious bad blood between the two.  Pretty sad...

Yeah, I'm sure Sideshow (or even GG) would love to nab the prop license.  The obvious question would be whether they could handle it, and if not, how long it would take them to get up to speed with where MR left off.  Of course, that'd mean they'd probably start many of the sublines over from scratch.  That'd certainly be interesting to see how well they'd possibly fare, and what the former MR collectors would think.

Crazy.

Ok, Amy from MR held a chat in the MR forums last evening on this subject.  Of course she could not give us details about the talks and why they couldn't come to agreement, but she did talk product line.

There will be no MR booth at C4, but they will still have their booth at SDCC.  Wedge Helmet ($55) and Mini Medal of Yavin ($15) will be sold on the website.  No mention if CS members will get first crack or not.  All items that are currently up or have been up for preorder are being made, in addition, the following items are definately being made:

Mara Jade Lightsaber Limited Edition

Shadow Trooper Helmet (CS Exclusive)

Luke Ep. VI V2 Limited Edition

Boba Fett Helmet Limited Edition

Boba Fett Helmet Signature Edition

The Shadow Trooper helmet has been bumped up to 500 units, is CS exclusive, and the lottery system has been scrapped...it will be the normal ordering procedure.

This list does not mean other items will not be made from their planned 2007 list.  It will all depend on time.  They cannot produce anything past Dec. 31, 2007...and then have 90 days after that to sell any remaining inventory.  They had some nice prototype picture of the Studio Scale X-wing (cockpit and engines light up!).  Also, they can develop new products if Lucasfilm approves.  They mentioned Dooku FX and ROTJ Vader mini and TPM Kenobi mini...it will all depend on time.  They first priority are finishing the above mentioned items.

Read this this morning at SW.com:

"We deeply regret that we and Corgi could not come to terms on a new agreement," said Howard Roffman, President of Lucas Licensing. "We had very much hoped to continue working with them. We know our fans and collectors really love this category and we are working as quickly as possible to bring in new licensees to replace both Master Replicas and Cards Inc."

So there is hope I guess...

I got my Medal of Yavin today and it wasn't packaged exactly as I was expecting.  I guess I didn't realize it would be packaged like the POTC coin so I was a little disappointed.  It sure is small - but I think it will work good once I can track down a 15" stuffed Chewbacca.  I can't seem to find a pair of scissor right now to cut it open but once I do, I'll post more pictures later.

That's why I'm getting rid of most of my Hasbro stuff.  :P I can't wait to have a complete wall of beautiful helmets behind glass.

Yeah, but I want to keep my hasbro stuff.  One, because it's been a labor of love amassing my collection and two, because we have kids that come to visit and I don't mind them playing with the open Hasbro stuff as opposed to the prop replicas I have.  :D

Are you saying you freak out when you see a 5yr old waving around a signature series windu saber?

I'd freak out way more if a 5 year old was playing with a vinyl cape Jawa.  Those sabers/hilts are tough.  I think the helmets could sustain a bit too.

I was kind of cheesed with the battle damaged 501st helmet, essentially doubling the size of 501st helmets available and penalizing those of us that sat and waited a bloody year for the clean version.   >:(

I don't think that is as bad as all the super sales they have had on items that have shipped in the past year, penalizing us loyal customers who perordered on the first day and paid full price.

No doubt, but I'm not as hardcore as many MR collectors, so I can only bitch about what's relevant to me.  I kind of wish I'd paid more attention to the super sales, but my wallet is pleased that I didn't.

The last MR helmet was just announced. They will be doing a 750 piece production of the Shadow Utapau Trooper bringing the total number of Clone helmets to eight.

I would have much rather had an OT helmet, but I'll certainly pick this one up to complete the set.

The Shadow Utapau Trooper LE Helmet has been cancelled, but on that note, I've been charged for my Stormtrooper LE Helmet and it's "Pending Shipment"! This is going to be quite the nice Christmas present.  :D

Amy at MR said they would try charging cards for three weeks before cancelling orders.  All unsold items are going to go to Lucasfilm, or so she thinks.  It looks like there is not going to be a giant sell off at the end.

I can't believe I missed this post in this thread.  Sorry about the late response Thrawn, but there is a guy on eBay that makes a custom case for the full sized Maul saber.  Just do a search and it should pop up.

That's not even funny!!  :-*

All was well when I called this morning.  She looked at my order and said that it was being processed and expected it to ship within a day or two.  I had her check my other two orders and she said everything agreed with the card number I gave her so I should be good to go.

I was kind of hoping for a last minute sell-off.  I have been holding out on Fett's piece.  I really don't have the room for it but I should probably just bit the bullet and order it.  *sigh*

Beth, I'm not sure what it is that you said here that made me do it, but I just went and pre-ordered this helmet the second I read your post. $412.76 shipped is not a bad price for this awesome piece. Go for it.

I think subconsciously I was doing the same thing, but from what Amy says, it's not going to happen.

Kinda sucks that they are not going to try to sell of the rest of their inventory.  That has to be a huge cost for them to just ship all this stuff off to Lucasfilm after fronting all the money to manufacture it all.  :-\

No, I did NOT order it and today I was poking around and saw that everything was sold out!! :o Amy stated that they shipped the remaining inventory to dealers and it's all gone.  I seen that Jeff had some left at the saber vault but I decided to pass.  I really do enjoy my MR stuff and think they did a helluva job with the license.

Tonight I was in Radio Shack and picked up a flashlight/lightsaber that I didn't even know MR put out.  For 10 bucks its a pretty cool item.

Thanks Beth!  :P

Stephen over at Redfordfilms.com has some of these left that he's giving to RebelScum members at a reduced price that he had up this past weekend. I think it was $365.00 for the LE. I wrote him about it to see if it is indeed cheaper than Master Replicas is going to be. If it's a lot cheaper or if I can get the SE for around the same price, I'll probably go through him instead.

I'm having a Master Replicas Christmas. We opened stockings tonight and I received a Darth Vader laser pointer and Luke Skywalker/Anakin LED flashlight. I hadn't been keeping up with the new collectibles, I guess, so I didn't even know these were out. Tim paid $12.99 for the laser pointer and $5.99 for the flashlight on sale. I know I'm getting some sort of full-sized lightsaber, also from Radio Shack, but I'll see that in the morning.

Tim tried to find a Mace Windu saber for me, but couldn't find one anywhere, so he bought me a Yoda from Spencer's, $79.99 on sale. Got it home, wouldn't work. The blade didn't light up at all and the sound kind of cut in and out. Took it back and tried another one. That one the blade flashed on once, then immediately went dark and wouldn't light up again. Same sound issues, too. So, no Yoda saber for me. :(

I had the same trouble with my Yoda FX Lightsaber, so I had to send it back to MR for a replacement which took over four months! I finally got it though and it works fine. It's a great piece, I hope you are able to get one that works eventually.

Well, seeing as there was only 1,048 Stormtrooper helmets made instead of the scheduled 2500, did anyone get a notice that they won't be getting their's? Thankfully mine is on it's way already, so I am good to go. I almost ordered one from an AD, but I really wanted the print, so I stuck with MR. Great choice on my part.

The first one is up on eBay already for $800.00!  :o What's even worse is the guy didn't even include the print with it. He sold it for $80.00 separately.

I imagine/hope these will settle out.  I think they'll sell better because they are OT helmets but the prices will come down.  The shock troopers went for as much as $800 at one point but seem to be at or even below retail at this point.  With an edition size over 1000, I'm guessing these will settle down once they're delivered.  I'd still like to get one of these and one of the Vader helmets too.  I could sell all my PT helmets to cover that cost I suppose.

A few minutes ago I thought I would check my tracking number for my Stormtrooper delivery.  On Wednesday it was still labeled as "Left hub in Sacremento, CA" or something to that effect so I was crossing my fingers that it would state tomorrow was still the delivery date.  Imagine my surprise to see it was DELIVERED today!!  CRAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, delivered to the store room at the paper mill.  The same frickin' place Brent's Gree helmet went to (which turned out okay since I was at work at the time).  Of course, now it is too late to get a hold of anyone since it is closed.  To make matters worse, there is no email from stores to me stating that they have "something with a purchase order number that doesn't match anything in our system".  So, I am patiently waiting for my husband to use his influence to have someone open stores to see if they can find my box.  He told me (and I quote) "What the hell were you thinking...having it delivered to the storeroom?".  I hated to point out that I DIDN'T but it doesn't really matter now.

UPDATE:  The delivery lady unlocked my office and put it inside and then locked it back up again.  Thank goodness Linda was on delivery duty and knows me  :D.

That's great news Beth. Glad you got it all sorted out.

I have an annoying story as well. Mine was scheduled for a December 31st delivery. I too thought I would check my tracking number to see where it was and come to find out, they attempted to deliver it this afternoon....when no one was home! Now I have to wait until the 31st anyway because they don't deliver on the weekends.   :'( I hate the thought of my beautiful helmet getting smashed around in some dirty warehouse when it could have been sitting here on my shelf. You can bet that I'll be sitting outside my house on Monday in a chair waiting for the FedEx guy. I hate that they won't ever leave anything without a signature. That's most inconvenient almost every time. Any other day, there would have been two or three people home, but not today.  :-\

Stormtrooper LE Helmet and print #25 has arrived in Tampa, FL! I met the FedEx guy out in the driveway this morning and I know he was wondering why I had such a large smile on my face. Just read the box....it says it all right there!

It's one thing to read about these things, but when you actually get to hold it in your hand and put it on and admire it, it's totally different.

Thank you Master Replicas for making this piece before you were done.

Thanks Beth.  ;D

I was thinking about framing my picture too, but right now I don't have anywhere to hang it, so it's just sitting behind the helmets there to the right. Eventually, I think I do want to hang it over or beside the Stormtrooper helmet along with two or three Stormtrooper Gentle Giant Mini Busts with each arm variation around the base. That would pay some respect to the almighty Stormtrooper right there.

I was surprised myself by the shipping.  I was used to a next day delivery when the warehouse was in New Jersey, but once they moved it, I figured on a longer time.  I certainly did not expect a next day delivery.  Fortunately, I was on vacation on a delivery day, so mine showed up safe and sound.  Now I will just have to figure out delivery on my last three items.  I hate signature confirmation.
