That is a fantastic line-up!

I only hope holo boy and Lando are the only 1 per box figures. I want piles of scouts, a healthy supply of both guards, and a couple Leia's. I'm afraid at least one of the guards will be one per box as well. Leia being a main character, and the scout trooper, being a stormtrooper seem like locks for multiples. But no case has ever had multiples of more than 3.
Series 1 Boba, Bossk, IG-88
Series 2 Sandtrooper, cantina band, Han Solo
Series 3 Han Solo carbonite, wicket, Jawa
Series 4 Darth and Stormtrooper
Series 5 Yoda, Luke Jedi, Death Star Gunner
Series 6 Death Star Trooper, TIE pilot, Luke X wing
Series 7 ?????

Looking forward to this wave big time. Hoping the snowtrooper isn't far behind.

I'm tempted to say yeah, but when I think about some of the other Jabba Palace figures they have done (like Droopy and Max Rebo) I think he'll fit in nicely the way he is...

Yeah he doesnt look as blocky  I guess. I still like him, and I think Ive finally made up my mind about what to order. Im gonna get a 12 case and then probably sell off some of my extras to get more scouts :D:D Any speculation on chases yet?

Nope, and unless they get accidentally "leaked" like last time we'll be waiting til they hit overseas...

The next series sure does look great, and I really wish I could afford to collect these things.  I just might have to continue to pick and choose a couple here and there, just to have a few :).  I don't know what the case assortment for this wave is supposed to be, but if there are several Scouts and anyone wants to part with one, just let me know ;).  Always liked the Biker Scouts.  The rest of the wave looks amazing too - pretty nice lineup overall.  I wonder what the chases will be.

I don't recall but do we know if the helmets are removable on Lando & Boushh? If so I'll need 2 of each of them to display both ways.

I'm going to guess that Lando's helmet comes off and he'll probably come with a hair piece like Jedi Luke. Leia's helmet looks too small and might be just one piece. Maybe it'll come with an alternate head...

Gotta agree with you on that one Brent.  He looks great, but much more realistic then most of them.  I'm really impressed with this wave - they all look great.  Well, except Anakin.  He kind of sucks.  The rest of them look great though.

No word till the hit unless it gets leaked again but I doubt it...

Keeping with the ROTJ theme, i'd like to see a new Ewok, Bib Fortuna, Salacious Crumb, Endor Rebel Soldier or maybe even Klaatu/Barada/Nikto. If they really wanna go vintage, a Yakface would kill as well...

I am crossing my fingers for a yakface. That would be one of the best kubricks period. Lando general would be interesting as well. Holo Yoda would be ok, just to finish off the original ghosts.

I am looking forward to this wave, much more than the last one.

As for the chase figures, a holographic Yoda woul dmake sense, but i could easily see that in another box set.  Yakface would be cool, Bib Fortuna perhaps. I am wishing for Yarna  ;D

any of you guys know (a website) that still has the box of 12 for preorder (besides BBTS). could care less if the cases are set up where they know the exact cases where the chases will be.  if the set-up on the figures that i see are correct, then whatevers in the box of 12 will suffice...

Hemish,

Nice job...on the handy work and thanks for sharing the pictures.

I thought I'd share that Iv'e really been considering selling my Kuby collection, I go back and forth monthly.  I could use the money to pay for other interested like my HD DVD player that I recently bought and some HD DVD movies.

I've always been like that - sell something to pay for part of a new excess item.  It helps me justify my purchase.  So far I sold some of my dvd's and got about $125 towards the new HD DVD player.

So I approached my wife about selling the Kuby's tonight and she really could not support me on that one.  So she offered to pay for the 1/2 of the next series and the other 1/2 will be my holiday present.  My wife is way cool in so many more real reasons but I thought I'd share this with my fellow Kuby collectors.

So when does the next series come out...and the speeder bike... :D???

Late reply here, but yeah, I thought the exact same thing - especially after seeing Jeff's Gammy thumbnail on the main news page last week.  I didn't even think it was a Kubrick.  But I'll live, I suppose.  Looking forward to this next wave, and I'm in the same boat if there's removeable helmets, as I'll be needing to of each as well.  Makes me almost hope that they're not...

Plus, I've got some major catch-up to do on the chase pieces from the past several waves, big time.

Nice looking setup there Hemish!

They have done a great job getting the imperial grunts out in good numbers-  I'm hoping the snowtrooper is a wave 8 item. It's too bad that AT-AT driver was a 1 per box figure. I would like to have a few more of him, but not at $30 a crack.

I hope the Gam guards are a 2 per- The death star trooper seems to be readily available at $5 each. I have a dozen death star troopers, but don't want more than 6 sides of green bacon.

The problem is who gets the shaft as a one per box? Anakin spirit is fine by me, but Royal Guards or biker scouts would bite. Lando is bound to have a helmet and head combo, so I think a lot of you would like to have 2 (I think I could live with one myself). Leia should have a helmet/hair combo as well, so don't make her a one per case.

Maybe they could change the mix a little this time

3 biker scouts
2 royal guards
2 Gamorrean guards
2 Lando
2 Leias
1 Anakini

My better half is still bitter that I sold my GG Bust, but I had to make a choice, Bricks and little of everything else.
I have 99% bricks now and I intend to keep it that way...although that Galactic Marine that Hasbro has on the way looks very cool, would look great next to a Vintage Snowtrooper.

My better half is very cool with my geekness, not many girls that would see a display case and think, "Wow, this is perfect for Joe's Kubricks."

The Biker Scout w/Speeder Biker is a Medicom Collector Club Mail-Order thing and was supposed to ship in November I believe...

As for the Shadow Stormtrooper, I don't recall if that one has even been officially announced by Medicom yet... lots of rumors/promo images but nothing on the Medicom site yet.

Thanks for the homecoming wishes fellas. Good to be back ;) I still have fond memories of this little obsession. It was hard leaving that throne of almight Kubrick collector ;)

Do I have any reasonable chances of finding a sealed carton of Series 4? Or earlier, but I was trying to keep optimistic about 4, realizing 3,2, and 1 are nothing but pipedreams...

Sealed box of Series 1 to 4, boy that might be a tuffy. Long gone & discontinued I'm afraid. I have not seen any for awhile & that was on the bay during the summer. Some might show up but they will be pricey, might be best just to get a regular set of 6.  :-\

You could try Kubrickworld (http://www.kubrickworld.com/forum/) & put out an all page bulletin, great bunch of guys on the site that might help.  :)

Well, I slapped some sense into myself before I got carried away, and cancelled the Kubys. As much as I miss these badboys, the prospect of getting back into them and re-obsessing has pushed me away. Im sure many of you remember my completist habits. Simply too expensive to play catchup at this time.

I find myself in the same boat as you. I think I came aboard much too late to get into this line and frankly, I don't have the money for the exclusives too. Instead, I think I'm going to put my money towards some higher end SW collectibles like the PF line. I already started with Princess Leia. I'll probably pick up the Vader and Ben. My intention is to set up a movie room in the basement much like what Gruson has set-up (if you have ever seen his pics in the Sideshow 1/4 statue thread).

Just thinking about shelling out over $100 bucks for sets of series 1 & 2 sends shivers down my spine. I remember showing my wife how much the chase figures go on the bay. She threatened to send me packing if I ever spent $100 on a single kubrick. It made sense though, as cool as they are...to me for a 2" inch figure there are so many other things I can get. I'll probably pick up future SW figures in the line here and there (ex. series 7)...but not to the level I was once at...I'm just going to concentrate about picking up just a few more PF figs to tide me over and I think thats gonna be all for me, as well as far as my future in collecting.

Six?  Jeez, I just got my second, the other variant.

I love Kubricks (these and the vintage collection are my favorites) but I have no intention of army building.  I might have a spare stormtrooper around to pair up with Vader, but that's about it really.

I love seeing the displays guys have with armies in them too, but I'm just not going down that road.

I have one now.  The only stuff I'm going to keep more than one of will be Imperials, mosty Stormies!  I hope they make a Snowtrooper.
I've realized that I will never keep up or be able to have all of these at the prices they go for, so I'm going to limit myself. (for example, I have the 400% Luke and Han Stormies so I sold the 100%, might pick up another to put the Helmet on though and have me a 400 Stormie!)
As far as non Star wars, I'll only need one of the Chase Alien Figures, thanks to Sith I will have all of Series two now.
I'd like to get an Old B.O.B. from The Black Hole and maybe a few strays here and there.
Like Sith I don't buy much of anything else, some of the Titaniums are great so I get those from time to time.
Mini Mates are making Battlestar Galactica Figures, so i may have to get those as well!
Its always something...

I'm at 5 cantina band members, so I guess I'll pick up a 6th at some point.

Hasbro has left me more than a little dissapointed in the basic line. There are some figures I like, but the

1) lack of significant improvements on redone figures
2) massive reissues of both ships and bad figures, and
3) the total lack of playset/figure environments

have me expanding the kubrick collection. I dove into a big lot just to get the carded figures, and I even split up a set of series 3 so I could keep a second AT-AT driver. I'll focus my obsession on the kubricks, and pick up a few of the Hasbro items here and there, instead of the other way around.

A couple of months ago I got it in my head that I wanted 12 of each army builder type figure.  I've only achieved that with the TIE Fighter Pilot and Ewok/Wicket though.

Series 2
Cantina Band Member - instr. A - need 3
Cantina Band Member - instr. B - need 3
Sandtrooper - orange pauldron - need 6
Sandtrooper - white pauldron - need 6
Tusken Raider - need 12

Series 3
AT-AT Driver - need 12
Jawa - have 4, need 8 more
Wicket - have 12, need 0

Series 4
Stormtrooper - have 6, need 6 more

Series 5
Death Star Gunner - have 6, need 6 more

Series 6
Death Star Trooper - have 5, need 7 more
Luke X-Wing Fighter Pilot - have 9, need 3 more
Rebel Trooper - have 1, need 11 more
TIE Fighter Pilot - have 12

Gonna need some deep pockets on these.  Rven if price is not an issue, it then becomes a matter of even finding them.

Yeah, those two are a pain to find alone. Raider I almost never see, and AT-AT driver usually goes for 30$+ and I can`t justify getting another one (yet!)

I hate to say it...but why doesn't Kubrick rerelease some of their figures...especially army builders. it's frustrating as a Kubrick collector (getting into the line late) to really get into the line as it is as some of the main characters (Chewbacca & R2D2) were only released in an early bird set instead of in a main line. Earlier army builder figs (Tusken & AT-AT were released one per box as was the more recent Rebel Trooper). Imagine a 5-pack of Stormtroopers or Tusken Raiders packaged similar to the TRU exclusive sets. Die-hard Kubrick fans would love it as you could army build, new collectors are always intrigued with sets like these and could spark more interest into the line.

Added a Parco Sandy to the collection today, got in trade with Crackbrick.
Also White Paldron Sandy, RF Trooper and a Jawa.

RE: Army building
I would love to see boxed sets! Maybe a Vader and 4 Stormies. One with Jawas and Tusken Raiders. Hoth set with Luke, Han and a few AT-AT drivers.

Although I like the vintage Hasbro dewback with the sandtroopers like Crackbrick had displayed a few pages back

I hate to say it...but why doesn't Kubrick rerelease some of their figures...especially army builders.

You have to remember that these are marketed for the Japanese market.
They are a different breed than anywhere else, especially here in the US.
I know one die-hard Star Wars collector that won't even talk to me anymore because of Kubricks...its a long story, but it essentially gets down to the fact that he could never grasp how people in Japan collect these types of things.
In his mind I had to be holding something back, he just could not put his brain around it.
Myself, I'm used to the way Bricks work, so none of this stuff bothers me, I'm happy with what I get and I don't complain.
Heck, we aren't even supposed to get the things here in the US!

Re-release and masive amounts are just not how the Japanese or Medicom see Kubricks, they would not be what they are if that happened, unless they market them for the US only...which I doubt will happen because the market is already flooded with Star Wars stuff.

I'm actually glad to hear that.

One of my main complaints about domestic Star Wars products this year has been repacks and piles of product at the store that don't interest me. I don't have the space/time/money for the incredible production machine that is Hasbro (and gentle giant is catching up). I know bricks aren't cheap, but how many people plopped down $30.00 for an orange card leia in 1995 (with a face that could make you gag if you looked at it long enough)? I know I did. I sold my freeze frame weequay a while back, because it really is just a packaging difference, and was worth a lot more to someone else than it was to me. I like the niche market that Kubrick occupies, and I'm guilty of getting a few of Medicom's VCD as well. If Kubrick went back and introduced a case of new hope figures with 4 lukes, 3 leias, 3 chewies, and 2 R2's per box it would seem like a slap in the face to their loyal japanese customers.

As much as I like army building, I don't think it would be the same if they were everywhere and cheap as dirt. It's their uniqueness and perceived/real rarity that make these fun to me. Plus I've got a local dealer, and that makes it tough not to purchase them in bulk.   ;)

I'm with the crew that says "no" to rereleases as well.  I realize its an expensive product, but we are mostly North Americans collecting a Japanese product.  I used to rail on people in Australia who used to bitch about not getting everything the US gets for Hasbro figures (or months after the fact) same goes for Europe and even a lesser extent Canada.  Its the part of the allure (to me at least) of this particular niche that makes it so great.  Anyone can amass a collection of say, ROTS stuff from last year, that will look the same on a shelf as the guy/gal across town has on their shelf.   That same person probably won't have a complete Kubrick collection.

The other thing is that while none of probably admit it as the most important thing, there is something to be said of the secondary market on these.  I've told my wife a couple of times how much the figures go for on eBay and she can barely believe it.  I was able to get in on the ground floor and have stuck with it, I realize it sucks that the early stuff is expensive and that they are hard to get, but they are collectibles, and foreign ones to boot.  I've collected a lot of stuff over the years and take something like my Simpsons collection.  Due to moving and lack of space in our new house, my Simpsons stuff has been boxed up since we moved.  The line died a few years ago and so I'm stuck with 3 rubbermaids full of crap I don't collect anymore and can't display.  So what should I do?  Sell it and a fraction of what I bought it for?  Keep it in boxes that are wasting space (which my wife knows are there).  I'm probably leaning toward selling but the hit in the shorts on what I paid versus what I can get for them makes me think twice.  I'd rather keep them if I'm only going to get $1 for the $6 I spent.  Say 5 years from now I have a rubbermaid full of Kubricks, I'd like my investment in said collectible to stay as high as possible and I'd be mad that in 2007 they went and rereleased all of the chase figures and HTF stuff from 2003.

Just my 2 cents I guess

I think we are pretty safe reguarding re-releases.
I can`t really think of any Kubricks that were re-released.
They did the paint deco change up to the Marvel kubs for boxed sets, and the Batman boxset also. But they were specifically for the US market, I just don`t see it
happening with SW.

your right. i just wanted to throw the idea out there fully knowing there would be alot of resistance against that. hell, i own a imperial officer and i fully know that any kind of releases would kill the value. the main problem at least for me was how hard it was to get into the line initially as a brand new collector with the end of series 4 and into series 5. now imagining getting into a SW line without some of the main characters like chewy and r2d2. i'm not talking about background characters...i'm talking about main characters itself. it was interesting to see the replies though....i was beginning to think that this thread was slowly drifting off a bit....

To me, its not about the value, there is just something cool about these.
I would collect them regardless of HTF Chase figures etc.
That being said, the fact that they are unique and from Japan plays into my collecting as well, its like someone posted, anyone can put together a Clone army, I'd like to have something unique.
I agree that it would be nice to find some stuf without having to pay huge amounts or search forever, but the day that happens this line will be dead.
The Japanese would just loose interest.
Heck, they loose interest anyhow in things without them changing at all according to some Japnese friends of mine.
They have a different mind set when it comes to collecting.

I'm happy with the way these things work as long as they keep the line going.

I actually just sold my Rebo set last week. I hated to do it but I needed the $ more which sadly is a growing trend with my collection. I love the Kubs but when I look at these tiny figures and realize what I paid for them I find myself trying to justify why to keep them. The rest of the chases are probably next to go, then if i can bare it, the Speeder Bike set as the price has skyrockted. The regular series I don't mind keeping as the cost was minimal...

Ok, so the RAH Shadow Stormtrooper (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=405650&ReferrerID=CJADBN-00001) is now up for pre-order at StarWarsShop. No mention of it being a 2-pack with the Kubrick version though.  I thought we saw a catalog image that indicated they'd be packed together?

In possibly related news, I noticed that Medicom is slated to have 3 exclusives (http://www.wcc-jp.com/NewFiles/memorial.html) at the big World Character Convention in December (WCC23, 03-Dec-2006).  Those 3 exclusives haven't been announced yet though... what do you all think are the chances that the Kubrick Shadow Stromtrooper shows up there?
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: Dan on November 1, 2006, 03:01 PM
I hope this is packaged with the RAH trooper, just because that would be cheaper than a carded version given away/sold at a convention (if previous releases are any indication anyhow).

However, I think it is more likely that it is a show exclusive. Here's hoping I'm wrong.... ::)
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: Morgbug on November 1, 2006, 03:49 PM
I don't see it being a pack in figure with the RAH figure myself.  I think the Kubrick market is sufficiently well defined as being separate from the RAH stuff and successful enough in its own right to not be a package deal.

My expectation is that this will be the WCC exclusive with respect to Star Wars and will be an edition size of 2006.  I expect it will be carded as well, something of a minor annoyance to me, but it really wouldn't change the price.  That's my hope anyway.
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: DSJ™ on November 1, 2006, 05:58 PM
The Shadowtrooper would be a good bet to show up at the WCC, ethier carded or loose I must have it.  ;D

I think we usually see a box set announced around this time, if so I sure would like that Jabba playset.  ;)

Maybe we will see a bit more on that 400% ROTJ Boba.  ;D

It would be nice if it was a pack-in (but thats only becuase i ordered the RAH - if i didnt want it i would be complaining ;) ) My guess is that it will be an exclusive and it is one that i really want.

As for a box set, i am hoping for a Jabba announcement as well. I guess we will find out soon.

Ain't no way I could aford it all, but I'd like to see the 400% Boba at a decent price and a Jaba set.
The price really dictates what I can buy, 400% Vader was great!
I'd love to have  Jorg, but its way out of my range at the moment.

It would be great to be in Japan and be able to open a case and be one of the first to know what the Chases are.

Just got a shipping notice from Robby.  Series 7 ships on Nov. 24!  I got money on Yak Face or Amanaman for the CHASE.  No news of a TRU boxed set?  That blows.  I have Master cases if anyone's interested.

Hoping these arrive before I leave on vacation.  Pretty good odds I think since I have two weeks from the shipping date.  Goody, goody, goody.

Very excited for this series too. Probably as much as I was looking forward to series 4.
A little birdie told me I have a Speederbike set on the way as well, woot!

I saw a picture of my speeder bike lying on the bubble wrap prior to beginning his journey to the West.  I am ecstatic to not be chasing this thing around as Series 7 rolls in.

We should start seeing chase figures later tomorrow on ebay/yahoo I'd think.  Tokyo is 18 hours ahead of CST.

Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: Sithbaker on November 23, 2006, 12:02 PM
The box set with Luke and them is the mail away.

The Blackhole trooper is listed as a WCC exclusive.
1000 at the show, 1006 mail order. Price is listed at 1,575 ... so I don`t think it is carded, they cost more than that, don`t they? I don`t remember what past carded figs cost at the shows.. anyone?
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: evenflow on November 23, 2006, 12:23 PM
Oh, i just assumed that the box set was anouther TRU exclusive.  :-X Anyway, very cool. I hope that the mail away is easy enough to get. I think the BHS will be expensive for us regardless.

Still, the box set is fantastic (Droids 3PO 8)) and there's the BHS as expected.  Very nice indeed.

Post by: bikeridetony on November 23, 2006, 01:58 PM
Wow, so much for army building Snowtroopers.  I think this is a sign we're coming toward the end of the line, folks.  The Snowtrooper is the obvious 4:12 for Series 8 or 9.  That boxed set is amazing though.  Not a lousy figure in there and thank god no Ewoks.  Bring on Series 7!!!!!  Any second now right?
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: drewlam on November 23, 2006, 02:13 PM
I'm a bit aprehensive of the snowtrooper being in that box set.  I didn't think medicom normally double dipped things (other then repaints), but I really want to see the snowtrooper in the regular series.  If it's only available through the box set, then my enthusiasm for the line is somewhat dampened.
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: Morgbug on November 23, 2006, 02:37 PM
I agree they don't double dip, at least not that I can recall.  But I wonder if this may end up being an exception?  Maybe they could retool it to be dirty instead of clean?  They have done this with the biker scout in a box set with the speeder bike, so why not the snowtrooper?

The price they are asking is pretty reasonable for the box, around $60 CAD but of course we'll not see them on ebay for that price.  I think they got burned a bit by the last box set that ended up clearing and can now be had for cheap.  The market for these is still limited and that's the beauty of the line to me, not everyone has one or army builds with them.  If that had been another TRU box, army building might have been possible, but as a mail away, probably not.

As for the end of the line?  I'm not sure, I think it depends on how much of the vintage line is left.  Seeing that Droids 3PO in there gives me hope for more droids figures yet down the road.  While I may not necessarily want them, there's still lots of Ewoks from ROTJ and the series to do as well.  No Jabba yet either and still plenty of vague characters from the vinty line remain.  Plus they can always either venture into figures not released in the vintage line (boo, to a degree) or go into the prequels (bigger boo).

The company has enough product out there that star wars is only one line of theirs.  A larger line, but still only the exclusives plus two series with 7-9 figures per year.  I think it still has some life.  They aren't totally dependent upon star wars is my point I guess as there are other lines with more figures in them in total.
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous

That box set is awesome...all 5 are more than welcome additions!  Plus it knocks 3 more figures off the vintage list.  Hoepfully we'll see 3 more knocked off real soon (this guy is hoping for Amanaman, Hammerhead and Squidhead)

Which now stands at 42 left:

Power Droid
Hammerhead
Bespin Guard (Black)
Bespin Guard (White)
FX-7
Leia Bespin
Hoth Rebel Soldier
Lobot
Ugnaught
Leia Hoth
Hoth Rebel Commander
AT-AT Commander
Luke Skywalker (Hoth)
R2-D2 Sensorscope
Cloud Car Pilot
C-3PO (Removable Limbs)
Bib Fortuna
Chief Chirpa
General Madine
Klatuu
Rebel Commando
Ree Yees
Squidhead
Weequay
8-D8
Klatuu Skiff
Nikto
AT-ST Driver
Pruneface
Rancor Keeper
Teebo
Lumat
R2 Pop-Up Saber
A-Wing Pilot
Imperial Dignitary
Amanaman
Barada
EV-9D9
Lando General
Romba
Warok
Yak Face

Wow, so much for army building Snowtroopers.  I think this is a sign we're coming toward the end of the line, folks.
I don't know. I think this is just replacing the TRU 5 pack they have had for the last couple of years. Still lots of great figures they could do. Not to mention prequels as Scott just mentioned. I am disappointed that the Droids C-3PO isn't carded. That would have fit in with the other Droids figures. I guess the Shadow Stormtrooper will be the latest carded figure.
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: Sithbaker on November 23, 2006, 06:56 PM
How much have carded figs been at past shows? The Shadow Trooper is listed pretty cheap, were they all like that?

I don`t think this is the end of the line either. Like I said over at KW, the fact that this set is coming out in 2007 looks like they have the rights to keep on making them. Too bad about the Snowtrooper though, would have been great to have a legion of those suckers!

Just heard back from my friend in Japan (not Simon, my other friend there) and the box set is not limited in terms of the number of pieces but it is limited to one per person per mailing address I think.  As far as I can tell, I have this one wrapped up as of today, but it doesn't ship until spring(?).

The BHS is a lottery for the 1007 pieces available away from WCC.  Results of the lottery are announced to winning entrants in January.

Simon can confirm or correct those details, I'm sure.

I think it also says you can order upto 59 sets, but only one per family. thats the dealers sorted then!
the same goes for the carded figure.  Medicoms releases at these things is normally 500pcs, then 1500ish by lottery later.  The main wave to hit ebay is right after the show right?   With double the carded toys available, that's going to be a lot of toys hitting ebay on the 3rd.

Does that all make sense?

thats right, but I think that the majority of the toys that hit ebay will come from the show.  This year there are a lot more at the show, so I think there will be more on ebay.  I've been in the queues and the dealers just go round and round.

From what I read on the Medicom site, the 5 pack is one per address. So multiple packs can be ordered if you have a friend or 2. That's the only limit. They did the same with the Saw and Spawn VCD figures and the Carded Luke along time ago.

A repainted Wicket!! Well, that would be the 2nd repaint if it is. I'm sure there will be at least one more out there. There is only usually 1 per 2 mastercases.

Not picking on you, but I take the sign of a prequel figure as more of an indication that the Kubs will keep going for a long while, but maybe not in a direction I want to see them go.  For those that like the PT, great news.  For us old farts, not such a great indication :-\  I don't like the move to mix in prequel figures, even if it makes sense, but to me it just smacks of a Hasbro-ish mentality like the release of red/blue guards in the ROTS line.  I'll own it, but my first official boo to Medicom.  Emulating Hasbro is NOT a direction I want to see.

Yakface is pretty sweet though and I'll be darn pleased if that's what shows up in the case from Robby.

I also noticed that the Yak staff appears to be in a clear holder to protect it from breaking/damage.

Wait a minute, that Yak staff is wrong for vintage & the Yak is wrong.

Vintage Yak Face & staff:

Looks like it a POTF Yak!

(http://www.rebelscum.com/potf2/potf2yakfaceloose.jpg) (http://www.rebelscum.com/potf2/potf2yakfacestaff.jpg)

The POTF Yak is a match for the staff & figure! Could the 3rd chase be the vintage Yak?

Series 2 had Indy(1:48)
Series 3 had Logray & Vinyl Jawa(Both 1:48)
Series 4 had Luke faced Vader(1:48)

Its a little mixed up how they did the 2:48 figures,(Luke & Han Stormies for example) but I think Series 2 is the only on that had one 1:48 figure(Indy)

So who knows with  Series 7

Very happy to get the Yakface. Great figure.  ;D
So the ratios are:
Royal Guard 4:12 (-2:48)
Biker Scout 3:12
Ghost Anakin 2:12 (-1:96?)
Gamorrean Guard 1:12 (-1:96?)

Yakface 1:96(?)
Old Anakin 1:96(?)

Happy hunting folks

Nah there was no upside down case this time. Also as a warning, I opened a 2nd Mastercase and all the boxes were back to front. This had a Yakface in it too, but it was in Box 4.  :o Same configuration. They had just flipped the boxes around. I wouldn't be surprised it was intentional.
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: jr87mustang on November 25, 2006, 10:50 AM
I am glad they had lamer chases again this time, as well as last time. The Yak Face is great, but not one I really need. I for one don't like the chases to be somewhat of a major character. I will not spend $100 plus on one little kubrick, just to much other stuff out there that is worth that kind of money. I wish they had used Ponda Boba as a regular figure, o well. The blue snag was a good choice because there was the regular version to get.

Anyways, I hope ther is one more easier chase, I was really hoping Amanaman would pop up as and easier to get chase. Overall except for the Gam Guard being one to a box, I think this has been the best set so far. Series 1 was really good, but I think this one out does it.

Anybody else have a favorite series??

Might have to <shudder> agree with Crackbrick here.
Sandtrooper, Obi, Greedo, Sandtrooper, Cantina aliens, Sandtrooper, INDY, Han, Sandtrooper, Tusken, Sandtrooper

Plus, it had Sandtroopers in it!  ;D

So the ratios are:
Royal Guard 4:12 (-2:48)
Biker Scout 3:12
Ghost Anakin 2:12 (-1:96?)
Gamorrean Guard 1:12 (-1:96?)
Boushh 1:12
Lando Skiff Guard 1:12
Yakface 1:96(?)
Old Anakin 1:96(?)

Happy hunting folks

Congrats on the Yakface Simon!  Thanks again for posting your results!

Love the Anakin, going to be needing help on that one I suspect :-\

I'm pleased Yakface is in there too, I'm just sort of suprised they opted for the POTF2 sculpt over the vintage version.  It's an homage to the vintage line either way but I think I'd have preferred the vintage sculpt.

Nice series though I agree with others, 2 Anakins and 1 Gam. Guard is strange to say the least.

Speaking to a dealer over in Tokoyo he called Yak-Face SAELT MARAE.

And he is charging $40 for the gaurd and $130 for the other two chases.

My take on this series, first the good...

Royal guard, Leia and Lando very look good.  The Biker Scout looks plain wicked - surperb job and kudos to Medicom on making these figures soo cool.

Now on to what I do not like about this series...

I could not agree with Brent more on the choice of the sculpt for Yak Face.  But to add I am not surprised actually a little dissapointed in that choice.

The blue senate guard is done well but why oh why mix prequel figures into what has been an OTC line.  Me thinks this series might be a transition series into more prequel figures.

Count me in the dissapointed crowd over the chases.  I dig Yakface, he was pretty much a no brainer.  I don't dig human old Anakin, it makes no sense in any way shape or form (that goes for the POTF2 figure as well).  The Senate Guard is puzzling (and a little troubling).  I think prequel Kubricks are now a forgone conclusion and I really don't know what to think.  I'll buy them I suspect but there is still a ton of OT stuff I want as well.  As long as they keep coming, that will be OK.  It just means the money sink will continue for years to come.  And I have to rethink my display area.  I have two acrylic cases with my vintage figures in one, their modern counterparts in the other and the Kubricks in Johnny Lightnings in between them

No real prequel stuff out here at all...and prequel Kubricks sort of mess it all up :-\  The other thing is there isn't much room there due to the heating duct right above the display above, so I may have to move them to another spot on the wall with more Johnny Lightning cases

Anyway I just found my master wishlist...

Updating my super wishlist from a few years ago

Johnny Lightning acrylic interlocking display cases, something I stole from Kubrickworld I believe and then everyone here stole it from me.  You can buy them at TRU in the car aisle

Most people buy Kubricks from somewhere here...choice 2 would be eBay and choice 3 would be an etailer like Ningyoshi, Toytokyo, Hobby Link Japan, BigBadToyStore or misc

Anything older than Series 5 you'll probably have to get on eBay

I am thinking about the Senate Guard chase figure and although it very well may mean the introduction of prequel figures, I think it may have been more of a figure of oppertunity. Besides the head sculp and the weapon my guess is that it is the same exact figure as the Royal Guard. Perhaps Medicom just figured to do that to same a little money this wave. They seem to save a buck every chance they can, and still provide us with some awesome figures. I knwo they did this with the Marvel Kubricks. The chase was a symbiote Spider-Ham figure. No need for it, but i am sure it was a money saving technique. It would be the same thing with the Anakin chase. They already have the mold, why not use it again. Maybe they needed to make up for the cost of the Gammorrean Guard and Yakface. Sculpts like that probably will only be used once. I still wish we could have got an Amanaman chase though.
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous

Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: bikeridetony on November 26, 2006, 12:15 PM
Here's my theory- the Gammorean Guards must be a pain to paint and probably cost a lot to make with all the plastic.  That's why they skimped.  The Spirit Anakin is just lame coming in at 2:12.  Why the hell would we need 2?  They're cheap to make though and require almost no intricate painting...  Does anyone remember 1983 or 1984  when the Kenner Gammorean Guards came out?  They were near impossible to find.  My mom drove me all over town and I still never got one.  Once I got it I couldn't believe how heavy it was.  Just a little nostalgia.

Well my cases just arrived.  I opened 2 and they were totally different from each other.  I got 2 Yak Faces so I'd love to trade with someone for an Anakin.  By the way, the layout of how the cases came packed (couple pages back) were also totally different than how mine came.  Just wanted everyone to know there doesn't seem to be a pattern this time.  They must be onto us!  Anyway, happy hunting and let me know if anyone wants to trade CHASES.

Post by: See You Auntie on November 26, 2006, 08:21 PM
Hi there, this is my first post.

I've been lurking in this thread for almost a year now and have been collecting Kubricks since about March this year.

Obviously I've been on the back foot when it comes to some stuff from the earlier series but I'm not about collecting everything in the line, just what I like, which is readily available and not too pricey.

I've been really keen to see the latest chases as we were spoiled for series 6. Now that I've seen them I can breathe a sigh of relief as there's nothing that I want too bad, unlike Series 6 Tarkin.

Now that Series 7 is out and people will be receiving their MC's soon, if anyone has a set of the basic six they want to offload PM me as I'd be interested. Save me having to go on ebay. Simon's dealt with me before on the 'bay, I'm sure he could vouch for me. A word of warning, I'm in Australia so shipping will be international.

Back on topic, I too was a bit dismayed about the Senate Guard. Prequel figures is one road I definitely don't want to see this line go down. If that does happen I'll just cherry pick the OT figures. I'm definitely not a completist.

I'm not too concerned though. The Senate Guard, though a break from tradition, was an obvious choice, as it is an obviously a variation on the Emperor's Guard. Most chases so far have been variations on regular bricks. Boba Fett, Sandtrooper, Bandmember, Vinyl Jawa, Han and Luke Stormtroopers, Dagobah Vader, Blue Snag, Wedge and now Anakin and the Senate Guard. I prefer the chase's as variations myself, that way if I don't get the chase I don't feel like I'm missing out too much.

I'm really digging the new box set. I just wish it was going to be a TRU 5 pack and not a mail away and not limited as that means I'll have to fork out some more dollars on it. Oh well, it's really cool and it has some great characters. I don't have a C3PO so the repaint is a bonus.

When should we expect to hear about Series 8 :) Hehe, I'm already impatient for what's to come. And it definately has to be Hoth/Bespin themed.

Anakin chase in the MC plus Lando in the Leia box all from RoBBy? Whoa! Not sure what to expect when we all get ours now. Nice seeing all those MC's in a group shot.  8)

I received my e-mail to confirm the credit card as my other stuff arrived on schedule, now the wait for the shipping notice. Sweet!  ;D

Sorry about that Jeff.

I don't have a camera with me, but following Simon's pattern box 1 looks like this:

Scout   Royal G  Royal G
Scout   Leia       Royal G (blue)
Anakin Scout     Royal G (blue)
Anakin Gam. G   Lando

Wacky stuff.

Box 4:

Scout    Scout    Scout
Leia      Anakin   Lando
Royal G Royal G Royal G
Gam G  Royal G  Anakin

That little Gam Guard sure do look funny 8)  Yakface in my case.  Hunting for Anakin now.  BTW, my case number (C/NO) is 204.

Might be I reversed boxes 1 and 4 but the chases are in those boxes for sure and the middles seem to be blanks perhaps.

Just discussing with drewlam by email that the Yakface being in the Gammorean Guard box is really quite annoying.  I had a guy back out on a set on me and I was thinking no worries as I can just sell the sealed case on ebay but now I can't because I need that third Gam. guard to finish off my own set :-\  So lots of extras out there of other figures because you can't complete four sets out of a master case that has Yakface in it.  Looking like the cases with the chase Anakin would be the better balanced of the options :-\

Really, Gam should have been at least 2 per box of 12 if you asked me (and even if you didn`t! ).

Of the 5 cases I had, 3 had Anakin, 1 had Yak and the last one still hasn`t been cracked open yet. Usually all of the cases we get have the same chase fig...

PS. my case was #23 or 24 (too lazy to go back a few pages and look).

I reckon the 2nd high bidder on this figure is a pretty good indication of how many Anakins there are in Japan. I've seen about 5 in total. I would say that Medicom has made this figure purposely rarer than Yakface, again as a nice tribute to the vintage line.

Finally!   ;D

The box was waaaaay mangled and covered in bright green "INSPECTED BY US CUSTOMS AND BORDER PATROL" tape.   Customs opened the main shipping box, TWO of the Master Cases inside, AND one of the Boxes of 12 inside one of the Master Cases.  ::)

First time that has ever happened to me, I guess 7 Master Cases from Japan is enough to set them off.   :P

Anyway, since two of the Master Cases were opened by Customs, I decided to take one of those as mine (the other will be broken up to be split among 3 guys):

I'm wishing it had been Anakin instead though.  No matter, all things in time....

BTW Jeff, all these odd occurrences must mean that Canada is about to take over Minnesota at any time now.  High taxes, customs officers opening your stuff, winning the hockey pool.  Jeez, you guys get publicly funded health care and I'd start looking at the color of your money real closely :P

Perfect time for it, if only because I just bought one.  BIN's are ranging between $209 (I think there's one on for that now) and $225.  An auction ended in the last day or two for $191 or so.

As for Anakin, I'm going away for a couple of weeks, so I'm not worrying about him.  I'm hoping my guess for a price drop will come to fruition.  I like that they're mixing the uber-chase up a bit now too and Robby had both, makes it more exciting than just expecting whatever other people pull first.  I'm hoping that one that Honorius BIN'd becomes more the norm, if not a little high.  Be great to get one for around $100.  Not holding my breath though.

My box set is ordered and wrapped up and I, via my buddy in Japan, am in the lottery for the BHS.  If he scores that, it's only Anakin and a 400% Fett that I need to be as complete as I want to be.  I probably should ultimately get a Logray, but too many scams out there for me to ever be confident of a real one.  I think there's a seller on ebay with two of them right now and a whopping 27 feedback rating.  Call me paranoid, but I ain't buying one of those.

Yeah, Logray is touchy. If I hadn`t gotten mine when/where I did, I probably would not get one now.

Is it me, or did the boards just go all wonky?

Finally!

Man if that ever happened to me, there would be hell to pay! Bastards!  >:(

Nice Yak Jeff.  :)

I'm still on a waiting pattern for my MC.

Well, two more of my seven Master Cases have been opened up...

One of the "split" cases (Me/Paul/Dan/Brian) offered up an Old Guy Anakin (to Brian) and Scott's Master Case had... well, he can tell you himself later when he gets back home.   ;)

My Master Case arrived early today safe & sound. I had to go out this morning & just opened them up.  ;D

Yeah, very strange set up. All the boxes facing the same direction. Here is how I did...

Box 1:  :o

Anakin Anakin Scout
Gammie Scout Scout
Red G Red G Red G
Lando Leia Red G

Box 2:  8)

Anakin Blue G Blue G
Anakin Gammie Lando
Scout Scout Scout
Leia Red G Red G

Box 3: ?

Still Sealed.

Box 4:  :-\
Lando Anakin Anakin
Gammie Scout Scout
Leia Red G Red G
Scout Red G Red G

So Box 2 had the Blue Royal Guards, Box 3 will stay sealed but I guess they are just regulars like Box 4.

I opened Box 1 first & the first Anakin on the upper left side had the chase...

I was very surprised to pull the Anakin chase, I was hoping to get Yak Face. The hunt is on for good old Yak.

Oh yeah, I got hit with customs big time as I mentioned before I had other stuff coming in with the MC.  :-\  :'(

That makes 5 & 5 now on the chases we have been keeping track of.

Wow, long time no see!

I had to catch up on about 14 pages since my self-imposed exile. My family and I had a big Kubrick bash last night, and thanks to Jeff I was able to crack into the mastercases completely blind on the chases! I pulled all the foil bags out of the boxes before we got started, so the kids and wife didn't even know who the regular ones were.

My senate guards were in box # 2 (referencing Simon's opened MC pic). But we didn't find them until we opened up the other 2 regular boxes first. Oh well, time to start a Royal Guard academy!

I ended up with Yakfaces in both my MC's. He was my # 1 "want" in kubrick-land, so that was way cool. My 9 year old daughter found it (on about the 60th bag we opened).

I find myself agreeing with a bunch of what I read. I hope we are not headed to the prequel land soon, but it certainly seems inevitable that we will get there.
The snowtrooper being in a box set stinks. I want at least 4, and that is not likely to happen. Hopefully he will make a re-appearance in a regular assortment at 4:12 along with Luke and leia hoth, bespin leia (chase), mucky R2, lobot, and 2-1B.
And not getting 2 gamorrean guards because I got yaks? While I stare at 8 jell-o versions of a guy that is 95% obi wan ghost re-released? Well, it tempered my excitement a bit. Like Brent said, I don't want to see Medicom going down the Hasbro road.

Anyway- great pics guys. Now I need to find someone willing to trade a pasty anakin and gam guard for a yakface and blue anakin  ::)

Just got my first Kubrick in the mail today, the Royal Guard. I was tempted to keep it sealed, but the lil 8 year old within (the one that made me get it in the first place :P) just had to crack it open and see if I managed a major fluke, and got a Blue Guard instead. As it turned out it was the regular Red one, but it's still seriously awesome! I can see why people go nuts over them.

So, if this is my first and only, does that count as an "inhale"?  ;D

Yes  you'll need at least one more guard and the Emporer to go with it! LOL. If you were to pull the blue guard, you should be totally happy as it is rarer then the Red one. Good luck!

man thats so cool that they're going to release a "Droids" C-3PO... I always loved the Droids stuff because it was kind of bastardized/obscure and I remember watching the cartoon as a kid too. The fact that Kubrick released their own line of Droids themed figures just floors me...  ;D
hopefully we get a carded Droids C-3PO...
in the meantime I think I may start collecting some of the chase figures... the only Kubricks I have are a regular Boba Fett, Luke Tie Fighter and the Droids R2-D2 and Boba Fett.
I think I may get into the chase figures now... if they keep selling for as much as they do now who knows what they could be worth down the road.

No Qui-Gon.  The only prequel figure they have done was the chase Blue Senate Guard from Series 7.

The reason you probably haven't seen them is that they are a Japanese product and not sold directly to US accounts, meaning that any US seller has to buy them via a secondary seller in Japan.

Some folks do have a local hobby shop that carry them, but they are few and far between.  The majority of folks buy on-line - eBay, BigBadToyStore, HLJ.com, Ningyoushi.com, the JD Classifieds, etc.

i have been making dailyh visits and have yet to make a post, i hope to soon.  I have just one question if someone would be kind enough to answer: where does one pick up the display cases i have seen in a few of the posts?  Particularly the ones that hold an individual Kubrick.

Not to seem like a complete, utter rank noob...but is there any place that has a catalogue of the figures already released as Kubricks? ie: like a section on rebelscum or somewhere else? I just want to know if they have in fact done a snowtrooper yet. And are Kubricks OT only? If so, i can only hope they stay that way...I cringe at the very thought of a Kub-Kub Binks :(

Holo Sidious on the other hand...or Maul...or heck, a 4 armed Grievous would be awesome. Imagine a Hunt for Grievous Kubrick set, done almost exactly like the CW battlepack.

If anyone is interested I am selling 2 of the cases from my master case.  They are still sealed and one of them has the 2:48 Blue Royal Guards in them.  Just let me know if you're interested.  Thanks!

Kubrick Series 7 Display Tip: For those with multiple Landos & Pig Guards

If you choose to display your Landos with helmet off (and you have an extra lando hair accessory to use) take an extra Skiff Guard Blaster from the OTC Luke and give to him, thus creating the Sarlacc Battle Lando. Then, take the extra Kuby Lando's force pike and give it to one of your extra Gammorean Guards, creating the Guard from when Luke enters Jabba Palace.

Fun with Kubricks... YAY!

Medicom makes so many goddamn Kubricks (or is it vice versa?  ???) that its making my head spin.
they make so many for all these cool movies and anime that its just nuts. I even like the graphitti and graphic artist Bearbricks.

That'd be nice. How 'bout a ESB wave this time.

Lobot, FX-7, Hoth Rebel Soldier, Hoth Leia, Ugnaught, Bespin Guard (white).

Chases:
Bespin Guard (black) 2:48
Bespin Leia 1:96
Cloud Car Pilot 1:96
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous

Here's what I'd love to see in Series 8:

- Hoth Luke (4:12)
   w/Probot Chase (2:48)
- Hoth Leia  (3:12)
   w/Bespin Leia Chase (1:96)
- Bib Fortuna (2:12)
- Squidface (1:12)
- Garindan (1:12)
- Hammerhead (1:12)
   w/Wuher Chase (1:96)
Title: Re: Kubrick Addicts Anonymous
Post by: Dan on December 22, 2006, 04:22 PM
If it's all ESB, give me:
Hoth Luke
Hoth Leia
Lobot
FX-7
Dagobah R2
Snowtroopers, and lots of em
(Chase figures of Bespin Leia 1:96, Probot 1:96, and bespin guards in each color, 2:48)

But now that Yakface is out, I really want to see a Garindan. With that big gonzo nose and a robe like Luke Jedi from series 5. Hammerhead would be fantastic too. Squidface and Bib are close behind. I think we need at least 1 more series from each movie-

 - Anakin

Hi,

New to the boards here (ok...I've been lurking for a bit since this seems to be the place to be for current Kubrick info) and just wanted to introduce myself.  I just got into Kubricks with Series 6 and am totally and utterly addicted.  These are great collectibles.

I also wanted to give a quick thanks to DSJ for posting the link to the Kubrick cases.  I bought two boxes and just love the way Kubricks display in them.

When I first found this site, I spent hours going through the old pages- You can feel the excitement building for each wave, and the stories and pics are great (especially crackbricks opening events).  Not to mention that this is a great place to get deeper into it (pretty soon you'll be ordering mastercases, plural, hahahhahahahh!)

But seriously, welcome to the klub-

I paid $116 a couple of weeks ago and it looks like its holding steady between $100 to $116.  I see Anakin is still going for $130+ which is odd because from what we've seen, its pretty much a 50/50 split

I only see one on eBay right now though

I've been surprised by the lack of chase figures on ebay- I need the old man myself, and will wait a little while to see if more show up.

Nice score on sacul Brent- I cracked open a shadow stormtrooper, but I'm not sure I could do it to Sacul (if I had one that is). I'm hoping someday I find one at a decent price. I can tell myself that Fett and Vader aren't worth it because I have the same figure loose, but Sacul is different enough that I want it bad.
I'm hoping it ends up being like my sandtrooper. I wasn't going to get a Parco Sandtrooper, but I got it as part of a lot so it only ended up being about $50 once I got rid of everything else. I still can't open it.

Just to reiterate - what the hell was Medicom thinking with two Anakin and one Gam. Guard in the box?  I'm going through my extras and I have an absolute ton of Royal Guards left over (no worries there) some extra Biker scouts (again, no biggie) an extra Lando, an extra Leia (I can work with those) and then five, count 'em, five extra Spirit Anakins.  Why?  Who cares?  I'd be pleased as punch if I were sitting on five extra Gam. Guards (even if they weren't exceptionally Kubricky) but five extra Anakins.  Blech.

Also not keen on the chase ruining one of the boxes/sets, that's not helping me at all.

crustily yours.

...Why?  Who cares?

Maybe they were making a political protest over the whole 2004 DVD "young Anakin ghost" swaperoo?

Yeah, I bet that's it.  They were soooooo pissed about Hayden's ghostly appearance in ROTJ that they released a TON of "Old Guy" Ghost Anakins to prove a point.

The Anakins make for good freebies & giveaways. I put a few kubs in the 501st box when they collected here (along with Luke X-wing and some other good ones, so don`t think I was just dumpin junk! )
They are nice to toss in when you trade with someone or sell something too. Melt a few down and see if they burn blue, bb gun targets, hang one from your rear view mirror, any number of things good ol` Anakin can be used for  8)

Thanks to Dale, I was able to grab a box of Series 7 (after thinking I had ordered a case from Robby.jp only to realize I never actually sent the e-mail  ::)), and it arrived today.  I was quickly reminded of how much I love the detail in these!  As sharp as the Royal Guards will look flanking the Emperor, I think my favourite is actually Leia Boushh because of the detail in her outfit and the removable helmet.  8)  Lando looks great for the same reason.  I love the Scout Trooper, it sure makes me wish I had the Bike too.  ;)

I have a few Scouts and they have varying degrees of holster work-ability (if that's a word).

Two of the Scouts have shallow grooves but the gun still fits (just barely, like Jay's picture shows), while the other two Scouts have a much deeper groove and the gun fits in nicely (handle first).

I guess your milage may vary for the ankle holster due to the molding process... :-\
