With the movie trailer release I thought we could name (or describe) our favorite Simpson's episode.
I'll start things off with.....
Homer goes to clown college!
Like most episodes, this one starts with a 30 second intro that may or may not have anything to do with the rest of the show. Homer is driving to work, and it is New Billboard Day, so he has to slam on the brakes to soak in the message from each new highway poster. One of them is for Krusty's clown college, but he believes it has no affect on him.
Until at dinner, when he is molding his mashed potatoes in the shape of a circus tent (ala Close encounters) and believes Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie are dressed as clowns humming circus music when they talk to him. He abruptly leaves with a line something like "screw this, I'm going to clown college." A line I have used more times than can possibly be funny.
In the end, he saves Krusty from being taken out by Fat Tony through a daring riding of the mini tricycle. I hope one of you more knowlegable types will tell me the episode name and season, so I can wait in line to purchase the DVD's at the appropriate time.

A Google search for "Simpsons episode clown college" yields the following (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homie_the_Clown), in less than five seconds:
"Homie the Clown" is the 15th episode of The Simpsons' sixth season.

Without a doubt, my favorite episode is "I Love Lisa" from Season 4. For the uninitiated, this is the episode where Lisa gives Ralph Wiggum a Valentine out of what amounts to sympathy and/or pity, and the resulting unwanted (at least by Lisa) admiration and affection from Ralph.
I Love Lisa on Wikipedia since SNPP.com is down for some reason right now (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Love_Lisa)
Other personal favorites include "Homer's Phobia", "The PTA Disbands!" and pretty much everything else from seasons 3 through 8. :)

There's so much different criteria for best episode, most from the 2nd through 8th seasons are just genus, but I'll give two winners for different reasons.
"Bart sells his Soul" This just has everything, it's laugh out loud funny, a good story and sweet. Very hard to get an all in one episode.
"Hank Scorpio" Every frame is detailed with smart humor
"Kamp Krusty" Okay, I know this is number three, but I cant leave it off the list. The opening taps into everyones secrete desires from grade school and the rest of the episode is among the best of the best.

Boy-Scoutz N the Hood. Total quality beginning to end. The best part is Krusty pacing around in the unmanned oil rig Krusty Burger. ;D
"Godspeed, little doodle."
-
"King Size Homer" - the one where Homer gains enough weight to go on disability.
Classic episode.
"Oh no! The corn! Paul Newman's gonna have ma' legs broke."
"I don't want to look stupid, I'll just go with the Moomoo."

"Who Shot Mr. Burns" parts 1 and 2 are both great.
The Sherry Bobbins episode was an awesome parody as well. "Ooh, her butt waxed the banister!"
Also, I can't think of the name, but the episode where Lisa and the creator of Malibu Stacy design the Lisa Lionheart doll and Malibu Stacy designers counter with the rereleased MS.
"It's just the same Malibu Stacy!"
"But she's got a new hat!"
Sometimes I feel that way with the Hasbro figures...
-
I forgot about the moomoo episode! When he hijacks that ice cream truck, it is truly television at its' best :)
-
Kamp Krusty still makes me laugh!! A lot of the classics still do!
-
Homer Simpson vs. The City of New York, that's what the one when they go to NY is called right?
-
Don't know the name of the episode, but it's the one that's a parody of the movie "Rear Window", where Bart thinks Ned killed his wife. Where's Mommy? She went to be with the Lord.

I liked the one with Liam in it personally ;)

The one with Sam Neil (yes, Liam reminds me of that one) was a pretty forgetable episode except for the most brillant bit in the Simpsons ever:
After the Simpson family got robbed.
BART
They stold my stamp collection.
LISA
You have a stamp collection?
Family laughs at Bart. PHONE RINGS
NELSON (on phone)
Stamp collection. AH HA!

"King Size Homer" - the one where Homer gains enough weight to go on disability.
Classic episode.
There are soooo many great episodes and it's hard to choose but if I had to it would be that one...

This is my favorite. 2nd is the Gummi Venus De Milo episode...Homer Bad Man
She was a university honor student who devoted her life to kids,
[slomo of Homer reaching for his car keys]
until the night a grossly-overweight pervert named Homer Simpson
gave her a crash course in depravity. "Babysitter and the
Beast"!
-- The "Rock Bottom" show, "Homer Bad Man"
"Aw, crap," laments Homer as the interview is shown.
Homer: Somebody had to take the babysitter home. Then I noticed she was
sitting on [splice] her sweet [splice] can. [splice] -- o I grab
her -- [splice] sweet can. [splice] Oh, just thinking about
[splice] her [splice] can [splice] I just wish I had he --
[splice] sweet [splice] sweet [splice] s-s-sweet [splice] can.

God, I'd say about 90% of the episodes are just awesome.
I like the one where Marge writes a book, where Homer is a whale fisherman. And Flanders is her secret love. So damn hilarious.
And I like just about anything with Mr. Burns or Ralph. Awesome stuff.
:P
