Title: Crime, punishment, and YOU: Count your blessings lately?
Post by: Dressel Rebel on March 6, 2007, 12:38 PM
Our justice system is pretty screwed up sometimes, but if you take a look around this same planet that we share with other humans, you realize that there really isn't a better way to do things than the way we do.

I agree.  It's sad when there are people here who think we have it all wrong.  I hope someday that the people who condem our actions stop trying to make it out as us being the bad guys.

Just pray that you're never charged with being "an unlawful enemy combatant."

Okay well this is seriously being derailed.  I didn't want this to head towards politics.  And of course Matt has to show up and be a loser anytime CHEWIE or I have anything to say at all.

What I was trying to point out was the differences in the way different governments perceive their citizen's behavior.

For example, the way Britney Spears and Paris Hilton behave here would have them lashed or hung in Saudi Arabia apparently. Here, we reward them with millions of dollars associated with their celebrity status and glorify them.  Anna Nicole got a month of 24/7 media coverage for being a drugged out promiscuous loser.  Over there, well, she'd probably have been out right executed before it even got this far.

You guys think being tied to a pole and whipped 90 times might be a little harsh for taking a drive with a man who isn't your husband?  It happens on every roadway in America daily.

That's all I was trying to point out.

Duly noted.

I love this country too but not everything is roses and butterflys (in reference to my first post).

I won't add anymore to the discussion for fear of it being locked or banishment.

Isn't this a religious issue as much as it is a political one - maybe more so?

A fairly kind appraisal of what this guilty verdict means.  The point is this White House was more interested in its own plans and those of its clients than it was about things like the free market in nuclear weapons, which was Ms. Plames area of expertise.  Who knows how many agents keeping the lid on loose nukes in Asia and elsewhere were murdered because the White House didn't like what her husband said. What her husband said happened to be true.  If we had listened to Joe Wilson we might not have created such a mess out of Iraq.

How stupid do these Republicans think we are?  As stupid as they are, apparently.  This is their next trick: fund the Sunni extremists who are blowing up our troops, the gang who planned 9-11, to oppose the Shi-ite governments in Iran and Iraq  (Hey didn't we just fight a war to elect them?)

(Impeachment and removal begins to sound pretty responsible this time around, even without a blue dress.)
