Title: Series 9
Post by: Hes No Good to Me Dead on June 23, 2007, 03:29 AM
Sorry mods. If I am posting this wrong, please put it where it supposed to go.

Again this is what I saw at Parco.

Series 9

Clonetrooper (White)
Jango Fett
Obi-Wan
Count Dooku
Yoda
Anakin (Eps II)

Yup, I would have liked a Lobot.
Back to Vintage Kenner for me.

I won't even hazard a guess at Chase figures other that Jar Jar with his tongue flapping and him as a Senator.

Series 9

Clonetrooper (White)

Better than the E1 lineup, but still dissapointed that they're steering away from the OT.

Post by: Jeff on June 25, 2007, 12:03 PM
Once again, I know they are prequel kubricks, but I am looking forward to getting a prequel Dooku, Obi, Anakin, and Jango.

As long as they just do 1 series from each of the 3 prequel movies to get us the main characters, that's fine by me.
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: Morgbug on June 25, 2007, 01:01 PM
I'm just disappointed because there was still a lot left to do from the OT/Kenner type of figures.  I can understand Medicom thinking that maybe the OT was getting thin though I think that is still surprising considering they knew enough to generate some serious excitement with Yakface.  Outside of it being a vintage nod it's a pretty minor background character.

I expect I'll end up with both series 8 and 9 figures.  I'll just wait for them to become inexpensive as I have no desire to order a case.  The chase may or may not be exciting.  If they're OT chase, then I'll be kicking myself but I'll live with that decision down the road.

I know it's a bit mean spirited, but I hope the PT series of Kubricks don't do very well.  The motivation is to drive it back to OT based figures, including Droids.  Much fertile ground there yet.

More importantly I'm still waiting for my ICMG Kubrick :-X

Well if the line continues past wave 10 (ROTS), i can see them mixing the movies in each wave then.

And now that I think about it, where is Mace?

Was there any info on release dates for 8-9?

I saw instinctoy was saying October on his blog for S8 and then next spring for S9. (Feb?)  No confirmation on that though...

And now that I think about it, where is Mace?

Chase figure perhaps?  Or maybe they are saving him for a possible Series 10 - RotS?  :D

I'd think series 10 being ROTS is a very reasonable suggestion :-\

So would that make series 11 a Clone Wars series  ;)
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: Morgbug on July 1, 2007, 12:49 PM
I'd still prefer a return to OT stuff, but a Clone Wars series would be entirely livable.

Durge
Snowbunny Padme (Asajj chase)
Anakin with tatoos
Obi-Wan in armor
Clone trooper (ARC chase)
C-3PO (R2 chase)

Before I make a rash decison on these PT Kubies, I'm looking forward to seeing what they look like...

I just wished that Medicom would've continued the OT until Series 10.

Now that is something I'd be into. I'm passing on series 8 & 9 (except for potential OT chases), but if they start back on OT stuff, Droids, or Clone Wars, I'm totally back in.

It appears from this pic that Series 9 will be based on AOTC.

Forgive me if this info is already out there, I've been out of the loop with regard to Kubricks for quite a while.  :-\
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: Dan on September 29, 2007, 06:42 AM
The ones you are thinking of are for a boxed set- At this time we have a boxed set (AOTC), Series 8 (TPM) 9 (AOTC), and Maul with his speeder bike.
The captain clone, padme, 2nd jango, and TC-14 C-3PO are in the box set with, if I remember right, a super battle droid.

Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: Jayson on January 23, 2008, 02:19 PM
My guesses:

Boba Fett (Kid version), Arena Padme, Clone Officer
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: I Am Sith on January 23, 2008, 02:21 PM
There are so many figures that I think would make good chases with this Series.  Due to the Geonosis Arena Battle, any one of the Jedi could make an appearance as a chase in the Anakin, Obi-Wan or Yoda boxes, but I think that the most obvious one would be Mace Windu.  I think Kit Fisto would make a great Kubrick.  I think that we could see a Palpatine or one of the Separatist Leaders as a chase in the Dooku box.  I could also see them doing a young Boba Fett, a fatigues Clone or an ARC Trooper in the Jango Box.  Since we are supposed to get a Clone Trooper Captain in the box set, I could see them throwing one of the other three repaints in as a chase in the Clone Trooper box.  Soooo many possibilities...

Wow, these look really cool. They always do really well with Yoda. I've kind of lost interest in Kubricks as of late since Mighty Muggs started surfacing (and since I realized I was too poor to turn into a Kubrick completist), but I will probably cave just for this set.  :)

I would like to get the spirit yoda, but it seems unlikely in a prequel based series. Although the blue senate guard in series 7 has broken that barrier-

I'd be shocked if the clone isn't packed 3 or 4 per pack of 12.  They should be readily available.  Not as sure on Jango.

The Medicom website says June 2008...

Hey Jeff, if this series is still coming out in June, shouldn't you have heard something from Robby.jp by now?  We heard about 5 months before Series 8 is supposed to be released and June is now only 4 months away...  Just checking.
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: Morgbug on February 11, 2008, 05:58 PM
Not trying to speak for Jeff, but I have access to Robby as well and currently Series 9 is not yet listed for sale.  I just searched the site now and only series 8 and preceding (order closed status) series are listed.
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: Jeff on February 12, 2008, 10:16 AM
shouldn't you have heard something from Robby.jp by now?

Like Brent already said, nothing from Robby yet.

One thing I've learned while collecting these little buggers is that there is no rhyme or reason to the announcements and when they go up for sale.  Robby used to be a lot faster, but they did have some turn-over in the webstaff a while back.  Things seem to run slower now than they used to run. :-\

And on that note...

I've had a lot of stuff going on this month so I was hoping to put this off until after Toy Fair, but since I've recieved so many e-mails/PMs, I'll just start it now: Jeff's Kubrick Star Wars Series 9 Mega-Order!

- First off, there are no guarantees.  Until I put in the order with Robby (and even after the order goes in), there is always a small chance that we won't get enough to cover everyone's wants.  So far though (Series 4-7), we've always been able to help everyone who has asked for help.

- All I will take "pre-orders" for right now is
   1) Master Cases (4 boxes of 12, 100% chance of at least 1 chase figure)
   2) Boxes of 12 (approx. 50% chance of at least 1 chase figure)
   3) Basic Set of 6 (1 of each of the commons)

Since we don't know ratios yet, it's hard to guarantee any specific individual figure requests yet...

- Since they are not officially up for pre-order at Robby yet, I have no firm prices.  The final price will depend on a number of things - wholesale price, shipping from Japan, currency exchange rate, bank fees, etc.  If the prices hold similar to the past series, you are looking at...
   1) Master Case  ~$325-$350
   2) Box of 12  ~$85-$90
   3) Set of 6  ~$50-$55

If I haven't scared you off yet and you are still interested in joining the mega-order, please post in this thread or just drop me a PM.  :)

Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: Jeff on February 12, 2008, 04:58 PM
Just an FYI that I had to change the potential price ranges listed above.  I was going a little fast this AM and I grabbed the wrong numbers...  :-[

Originally, I had listed the price range that we saw for Series 6/7:
   1) Master Case  ~$305-$325
   2) Box of 12  ~$80-$85
   3) Set of 6  ~$45-$50

But, based on the info from the Series 8 pre-order price at Robby, the cost will most likely be 8-10% higher than Series 6/7 were.  The new price ranges listed below reflect the increase...   :-\

The approximate price range for Series 8/9:
   1) Master Case  ~$325-$350
   2) Box of 12  ~$85-$90
   3) Set of 6  ~$50-$55

There are a number of factors that play into this increase (7.5% higher wholesale price, higher shipping rates, weaker USD vs. JPY).

Once again, these are just ranges.  I won't know the exact cost until they ship.  Sorry for any disappointment, just trying to give everyone a realistic expectation on the cost. Better to know now than to be surprised with it later when they ship...   :(

I will happily settle up with you at the meeting tomorrow night-

just say the word and I'll pay up immediately.

I don't like to collect money until I'm charged by Robby because I don't want to deal with refunds if something happens and our order is cancelled or allocated or something.  Plus, since everything is in Yen, I have no idea what the actual final cost will be in US dollars until they ship.  Too many variables (shipping, fees, customs, exchange rate) to set the price until after they ship.  It's just much easier to wait until they are in the mail to deal with the money.

Just noticed that HLJ has series 9 (http://www.hlj.com/product/MEDKUB-237) up for preorder for about $100.59 for a box of 12.

BBTS has series 9 (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=MED10175&mode=retail) for preorder for $119.99 for a box of 12 or series 9 master case (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=MED10176&mode=retail) for $419.99.

Robby wins hands down again!  8)

Based on what we saw today with the Series 8 chases, I think the possibilities are endless for Series 9.  I'd love to see a Kit, Plo, Ki-Adi or Mace chase as well as any of the Seps.  Since Aurra showed up as a chase after about 3 seconds of screen time, could we see characters like Dexter, Taun We, Zam, or Watto make an appearance as a chase?  Can't wait to see what Medicom pulls out of their hat for the Series 9 chases.
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: Morgbug on April 25, 2008, 04:24 PM
I think Dexter might be a little too large, but no larger than a Gam Guard.  I think Taun We is probably too tall for them to make though.

Hoping they stick with PT chase figures though.  That makes me happy.

As we discussed today, Zam would be a cool chase in that they could offer two heads for her.

I concur with Scotty, those are good guesses.

Mace makes a lot of sense as a basic fig in a RotS-themed Series and I can see Plo as a Chase in Series9 and then Kit Fisto as a chase in Series10.

We still have to get a Ki Adi Mundi somewhere.  He was a natural chase for TPM in my opinion.

Who all went with Mace to Palpatine's office.  I think we'll end up with those four for certain, either through regs or chase.  I concur Mace as a regular figure for Series 10.  I also think we'll see either a shock trooper or 501st with the other being a chase in that series.

Hey Sithspawn,

After double checking through my list (there were a few additions since my last post), I think there may be one box left up for grabs (still waiting to hear back from someone), but that would probably be it unless someone drops out due to the cost imcreases we saw for Series 8.

Are these still on track to be released at the end of the month?  Just checking.  I know that Series 8 was delayed, but didn't remember hearing anything about delays for Series 9.

Based on when Jeff heard from Robbie.jp about Series 8 (April 21), we could be hearing something in the next 9-10 days about the Series 9 shipment...

The first report on the "basic" ratios for the S9 basic figures:

16:48 Clone Trooper
12:48 Jango Fett
  8:48 Yoda
  4:48 Anakin Skywalker
  4:48 Obi-Wan Kenobi
  4:48 Count Dooku

So an average, non-chase box of 12 should contain:
4x Clone Trooper
3x Jango Fett
2x Yoda
1x Anakin
1x Obi-Wan
1x Dooku

KEEP IN MIND THESE ARE EARLY RATIOS which do not take into account the location of the chase figures.  Remember, there are no guarantees.  Wierd stuff can happen, as we saw with Series 8.

Oh, and chase figures?  How about...

- Shaak Ti, Zam Wessell, and Clone Trooper Commander (Yellow Stripe)
(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/6-08/tn_S9_secret01.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/6-08/S9_secret01.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/6-08/tn_S9_secret02.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/6-08/S9_secret02.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/6-08/tn_S9_secret03.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/6-08/S9_secret03.jpg)

I have no info yet on which chase is where, but it would seem that it's a pretty good bet that the Yellow/Commander Clone Trooper is probably the "easy" chase and probably found in the Clone Trooper box.

I'd also make an educated guess that Zam will end up in the Jango box and Shaak Ti will end up in a Yoda box, but again, that's just speculation at this point based on the ratios...

Hopefully we'll have more info soon!  :)

Exciting News.  Good to see we'll be able to build Clone Armies so simply.  I hope that those chases don't end up in single packed boxes (i.e. Anakin, Obi, Count).

I'm disappointed that the Ani and Obi are single packed.  I know the custom kubrick makers will really be disappointed in that.

Boy, you weren't baiting me too much with that one... It's really disappointing that those are single packed figures.  Those are my favorites of this series.  I had a few plans for alternate displays and custom figures that I don't think I'll be able to do without spending so additional funds on more of these...

I really like the chases with this wave too.  I'd really like to see 4 of the Yellow Clone much like we got with the White Pauldron Sandtrooper with Series 2, but alas, I'm sure we'll only get one...  I also like both of the 'assumed' rare chases.  I'd be happy with either one of them, but would really be happy just getting one in my master case this time around!

I'm okay with the chases (I think some of us speculated on Zam - maybe we'll get two heads on that one!).  However, I'm increasingly concerned that we aren't getting all the Jedi we need.

I also don't really like the look of this Obi-Wan:

The Chase choices are fine, but I do wish they would make it 1 easy chase at 2:48 and 2 rare at 1:96. Too many master cases we know of had only 1 chase for series 8.

And more Obi/Ani less Jango would have been fine by me. With the 2 pack, 5 pack, and 3 per box Jango's are going to be the spirit Anakin's drinkin buddy under the kubrick bridge.

I think it's the high angle of the photo that's throwing off the look of OBK's hair:

Interesting that all this news on Series 9 hits the web around the same time that Robby said they were delayed.  Do you think from your experiences that maybe the "delay" was premature and they may still ship at the end of this month??

Medicom decided to sell some Series 9 direct at the show as a sneak preview.

From what I understand, they aren't bulk shipping them to the distributors until after the show is over, mid-July.  It's sort of an "if you take the time to go see the show, you can get them early" bonus kind of thing.

So, you may see a few pop-up on eBay as a result of the show sales, but the bulk of S9 won't hit until the later half of July...

Jeff is your most likely source.  He'll tell you a ballpark figure, similar to whatever series 8 was.  But he can't give a definite answer for sure because it's never clear if there'll be an increase in shipping or any associated customs fees (since he brings in so many cases) and I don't think we know the exact price from the retailer (Robby.jp) until they are actually shipping.  I think ballpark is around $70-90 for a box.

Depending on how the chases pan out, there may be several of us with extra boxes of 12 from the mega order for Series 9.  Series 10 ordering hasn't started yet.
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: Dan on June 28, 2008, 12:02 PM
Just read a post over at KN from someone who was at the Medicom show and bought two Series 9 boxes of 12.  In their first box, they got 2 Yellow Clones in the 4 Clone Trooper boxes.  They didn't get anything in their other box of 12.

So with an 'n' of 1, we might be back to a Common Chase with a ratio of 2:48...

Wow, I hope this turns out to be correct. Nice bit of info!

I'd be looking to grab a box from a master case where the chase has not been checked for/found.  Or in other words, splitting the case with someone prior to them opening any of the boxes.

I understand why you'd want to do that.  I'm not sure if Jeff has any "blind" boxes of 12 that are unspoken for in his Mega Order for Series 9.  I'm sure he'll chime in when the time comes.

Ain't that always the way. . .I should note, though, that I bought a loose Early Bird set from this guy for around $78 plus shipping last month.  So, I don't begrudge him trying to capitalize on impetuous collectors that want the first variant that they see (he isn't running a charity, after all), but at the same time, he has posted at least one pretty good deal before  :) .

But he is is always the highest for quite a while, and he appears to enjoy gloating with the pictures of piles of Yodas, Han Carbonites, etc. I guess it is his seeming endless supply and over the top prices that combine to make his auctions irritating.

True to some extent. Kubrick collectors tend to spend more on individual figures, while many collectors of modern Hasbro stuff seem to spend similar amounts, just spread over more figures (buying dozens of clones or whatever). I guess it depends on your priorities. And of course it's hard to stay with one particular category of collectible as well. I thought I was more or less done with props, but somehow ended up buying one of the eFX stormtrooper helmets yesterday. Of course, I'd rather spend $400 on that than on a couple of Kubrick chases, but that's just me.

This order was a small one for me & the 1st time I did not order a master case since series 1, I only ordered 2 boxes as a local collector & I are involved & I get to open them all. If I get any chase figs fine, if not then I'll be on the hunt for them. Next week should be another Kuby week from the postman.  ;D

I am guessing that Jeff should be having his massive order on the way, best of luck to all.  :)

It makes no sense- even at Ebay prices the buyer would  be wayyy better off picking up a master case and the (assuming old patterns come back with this series) the one chase they need. And all of these sets of 9 from series 8 and 9 going for sky high prices hasn't altered the price of what a set of 6 goes for. So assuming a set of 6 would have run about $50, that's $470 spent on just the chases.

There are 2 sites that I know of. HLJ (HobbyLinkJapan) has Star Wars #9 (http://www.hlj.com/product/MEDKUB-237) up for preorder $99.17 per box of 12 so about $396.68 for a MC plus shipping but unknown on the shipping cost till they have them instock.

BigBadToyStore (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=MED10176&mode=retail) also has a preorder up for a MC for $419.99 & you can check the shipping cost once added to the cart before the final check out.

Both sites will take credit card & Paypal.
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: karamazov80 on July 12, 2008, 10:59 AM
Thanks DSJ, would you not have to order 8 total boxes to get the "master case" of all the figures (including the 1/96 chase)?

Are the 1/96 chases random across master cases, so that you couldn't, say, pick up 2 and expect to get a 1/96 chase?
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: DSJ™ on July 12, 2008, 11:21 AM
A MC should contain 1 sub chase (1/48) & 1 uber chase (1/96) if that's the way it's been panning out. If you get 2 MC's then yeah, you should get 2 sub chases & 2 uber chase figures but the uber might be the same depending where the MC came from (Japan/Hong Kong).

From what happened with series 8 when Jeff got his uber MC shipment, this may not be the case.

here is the latest update on the mega-order:

Master Case [Jeff] - Jar Jar, Aurra Sing
Master Case [Scott] - Jar Jar, Aurra Sing
Master Case [I Am Sith] - Jar Jar
Master Case [BrentS] - Jar Jar, Aurra Sing
Master Case [gorkoracing] - Jar Jar, Aurra Sing
Master Case [rdm5777] - Jar Jar, Aurra Sing
Master Case [SPLIT]:
Box of 12 [Dan] - Jar Jar   8)
Box of 12 [Dan] - No Chases
Box of 12 [Jayson] - Aurra Sing  8)
Box of 12 [Jayson] - No Chases
Master Case [SPLIT]:
Box of 12 [Jon] - No Chases
  Box of 12 [Outkast34] - No Chases
  Box of 12 [skyward72] - No Chases
Box of 12 (Brian G.) - Aurra Sing

If you want a complete set with chase figures then best to go to the bay & pay the $500. plus or get 1 MC & hope you get the 1 sub & 1 uber chase then hunt down the other uber chase figure.  It's a crap shoot.  :-\
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: karamazov80 on July 12, 2008, 02:44 PM
OK, thanks.  I guess there is just no easy way of ensuring that you get all the chases (or, at least, without a truly massive overhead expenditure).  If I ever decide to rob a bank or invent a newer, better heart or something, I may go ahead and get all the Star Wars chases.
Title: Re: Series 9

Yeah, if you were to go by yourself & get say 4 MC's just to hope to click on the chases then that is a major overhead & so many sets & extras to unload.

A bit more happening around the bay since I last checked, dealers are getting the MC's & finding the loot.

Just a quick question, did you only get 1 Yellow Clone in your case or did you get two?  Want to make sure early reports of 2:48 Clone Commanders is verified...

Also, don't forget the green clones...  And we are getting a red clone in the next 5-pack...

I'm using my pic from S8 (since the boxes are the same orientation):

Here is how things shook out for my Master Case:

Box 1 (nothing)
4x Clone Trooper
3x Jango Fett
2x Yoda
1x Obi-Wan
1x Anakin
1x Dooku

Box 2 (nothing)
4x Clone Trooper
3x Jango Fett
2x Yoda
1x Obi-Wan
1x Anakin
1x Dooku

Box 3 (Easy Chase)
2x Clone Trooper
3x Jango Fett
2x Yoda
1x Obi-Wan
1x Anakin
2x Dooku
1x Clone Trooper Commander (Yellow)

Box 4 (Rare Chase)
4x Clone Trooper
3x Jango Fett
2x Yoda
1x Obi-Wan
1x Shaak Ti
1x Dooku

I'll try to post some more pics later this afternoon once I have them all opened and sorted and everything...  ;D

I don't know about evilalive, but there was just one Yellow Clone in my MC.  The box he was in had only 3x Clone Trooper (2 regular, 1 yellow) but had 2x Dooku boxes, which I thought was really strange since the other 3 boxes all only had 1x Dooku...  ???

My Master Case =
  14x Clone Trooper
  12x Jango Fett
   8x Yoda
   5x Dooku
   4x Obi-Wan
   3x Anakin
   1x Clone Trooper Commander (Yellow)
   1x Shaak Ti

But, I'll be happy with the one Clone Commander if I get a rare chase too!

Got this as a set of 8pcs, but as told by the seller, yellow clone ratio do appears as 2:48.

Oh yeh, how can I forget the green clone:P and thanks for the heads up.

When I opened the Dookus though and they were both just Dooku and not Zams, I was all "uh-oh" and the worrying kicked into high gear...    :-\

I guess it sucks if I was "supposed" to get 2x Yellow Clones in my MC and only got one, but at least I got the one so I don't have to chase him.  Now I just have to track down Zam before all of you guys find out you need her too...  :P

Boy, those thoughts sound vaguely familiar...  I seem to recall them from about three months ago.

It kind of stinks though that you didn't end up with an extra Anakin, because at least you would have had three complete sets of 6...  Now you have 3 sets of 6 with three extra 'apparent' 1:12 figures...

I have a bad feeling that the case ratios for Series 9 are going to be as screwy as Series 8.
Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: DSJ™ on July 14, 2008, 02:05 PM
Just read a post over at KN from someone who was at the Medicom show and bought two Series 9 boxes of 12.  In their first box, they got 2 Yellow Clones in the 4 Clone Trooper boxes.  They didn't get anything in their other box of 12.

So with an 'n' of 1, we might be back to a Common Chase with a ratio of 2:48...

2 Yellow Clone Troopers in one box.

As per this auction:

KUBRICK 9 SET 9 CHASE ZAM SHAAK TI (http://cgi.ebay.com/MEDICOM-STAR-WARS-KUBRICK-9-SET-9-CHASE-ZAM-SHAAK-TI_W0QQitemZ260262364768QQihZ016QQcategoryZ48972QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

Quote
Yellow Clone Trooper (CHASE) (1:48)
Shaak Ti (CHASE) (1:96)
Zam Wesell (CHASE) (1:96)

That is the only auction I can find right now giving chase ratios.  :-\

Actually, that's not really accurate anymore...  it looks like this now:

Series 9 Master Case #1 - Jeff = 1x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #2 - Scott
Series 9 Master Case #3 - I Am Sith
Series 9 Master Case #4 - Brent S
Series 9 Master Case #5 - Gorkoracing
Series 9 Master Case #6 - Dan
Series 9 Master Case #7 - Outcast34
Series 9 Master Case #8 - rdm5777
Series 9 Master Case #9 - Adrian
Series 9 Master Case #10 - SPLIT
  2x Box of 12 - skyward72
  1x Box of 12 - Jon
  1x Box of 12 - {pending}
Series 9 Master Case #11  -  SPLIT
  2x Box of 12 - jedijaybird
  1x Box of 12 - JediJman
  1x Box of 12 - [Brian G]

Brian dropped his order from 2x boxes to just 1 box due to price increases for Series 8/9, so I moved him to Box #11 since they are all local MN guys...  that freed up his two boxes in #10 which have been re-assigned.

That Jeff is a big if I'm afraid. We only know that the Yellow Clone is 2:48 only because someone over at KN found 2 Yeller dudes in a box of 12. A fluke, maybe.
Also take in mind the sellers on the bay are not always right but then again...:-\  Heck some of the sellers can't even spell Wesell right.  ;)

Guess we will have to wait it out & see what the other members get in there MC's to figure this out.

When I looked up the eleven tracking numbers, 9 of the 11 boxes were already in Chicago customs as of last night! :)

The mailman just dropped off four of the eleven Master Cases.  No idea where the other seven are though...    ???

I guess they are somewhere between Chicago and here... I'll have to check the tracking numbers after lunch and see.

Another visit from the mailman this afternoon (this time it was the "express mail" postman, earlier was my regular mailman).

He had five more Master Cases for me... and some bad news.  :-\

The last two Master Cases were "missent".  They are attempting to retrieve them, but they have no ETA.   :o

When I check the tracking info it says...

Missent, July 13, 2008, 6:08 pm
*Your item was misrouted. The error has been corrected and every effort is being made to deliver it as soon as possible.
Processed, July 13, 2008, 5:47 pm, CINCINNATI, OH 45275

I hope nothing bad happens to them on their trip back to MN otherwise there will be some very unhappy folks out there...  :-\

So before I start getting really stressed out about this, what does this mean for those of us that have ordered?  If you don't get these last two you don't send any out, you choose who gets one, you put names in a hat and draw for the lucky winners?!  Starting to get a little shortness of breath and the pulse is starting to rise...

I'll offer up that my case can be one of the missent ones as I am in no hurry to get mine and am VERY low on funds at the moment due to waiting for a guy to send me his part of a deal that should have been here last monday.  The longer I can wait to pay for mine the better at the moment but I do plan on getting my case still.

Here is how things worked out for my Master Case:

Box 1 2 Yellow Clones

Box 2 Shaak Ti

Box 3 (nothing)

Box 4 (nothing)

So 2 yellow clones for me. Not sure if its a fluke or not but it should help in the fund so get myself a Zam.

I still haven't had time to do pics (the boys are crazy today), but I have to say that Jango is my favorite, followed closely by Yoda.

Jango is packed with awesome details - removable backpack missile, working holsters, & poseable rangefinder.  Very cool.  Shaak Ti is also a very cool, very detailed Jedi (painted fingernails!).  I'm also digging Dooku's sithy red eyes!  :)

So Zam appears to be the hot chase this time around.  First auction she's up to $152+ with 4 days left:

Zam auction 1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Medicom-Star-Wars-Kubrick-S9-Secret-ZAM-WESEL-1-96_W0QQitemZ260261946304QQihZ016QQcategoryZ48972QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

And this guy bought one for $188!!!

Zam auction 2 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-Star-Wars-Chase-Series-9-Secret-ZAM-WESEL-Kubrick_W0QQitemZ150268227912QQihZ005QQcategoryZ36553QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

All of the Shaak Ti auctions I've been watching are staying at or around $100...

This order was a small one for me & the 1st time I did not order a master case since series 1, I only ordered 2 boxes as a local collector & I are involved & I get to open them all. If I get any chase figs fine, if not then I'll be on the hunt for them. Next week should be another Kuby week from the postman.  ;D

And arrived the boxes have.  8)

I was not expecting to get any chase figures with just the 2 boxes but yep, I scored. 2 Yellow Clone Troopers from the one box.  8)

The other box had no chase figures so the hunt is on for Zam & Shaak Ti, I think I did pretty damn good.  :)

Box 1:
Clone, Clone, Jango.
Obi, Jango, Dooku.
Jango, Yellow Clone, Yoda.
Anakin, Yoda, Yellow Clone.

Box 2:
Clone, Yoda, Clone.
Jango, Clone, Jango.
Dooku, Obi, Clone.
Jango, Clone, Anakin.

The 2nd box has 5 Clones & 1 Yoda.  ???

Despite my protestations I actually did buy a box of this series from Robby.  I got a box with two yellow clones in it.  My box had a different set up from Dale's too:

Front row: Yoda Yoda Anakin
Second row: Yellow Clone Jango Dooku
Third row: Obi Yellow Clone Jango
Back row: Jango Clone Clone

So add that to the mix and that Jeff's box was off from the norm.

Yeah  :-[  Dark side indeed.  I actually got a box of series 8 too, but haven't gone after any of the chase figures.  Mostly because of price and I think these are going to drop significantly in the not so distant future, but I can live without Jedi anyway.  JarJar?  If someone gave me one I'd keep it, otherwise blech.

The only regret I have is not getting the box set with the red clone in it.  Stupid rainbow clones.  But I like having Qui-Gon, Maul and the Jango and Obi in this set are nice.  Actually I like all of Series 9, Series 8 not so much.

And I was due for the chase after missing in series 1 and 2 (Indy....) plus 8.  I was more concerned about getting the Zam or the Shaak Ti because I didn't really want them, but I lucked out and got what I wanted.  Yay me.

Up to date for now for me.  Just waiting on the Series 10 announcement from Robby and I'll order a box of that.  If they go back to OT after that, I'll go back to master cases.  Got my carded set of Series 2 as well and hoping on the shadow guard.

Just popped open my case from Jeff...the boxes were mixed up with 2 facing right and 2 facing left so I gambled on the bottom row...whew I was right!

I pulled 2 Yellow Clones on that case so I thought the second case next to it would hold the rare chase...yepper Shaak Ti!

So I got the same thing as Jeff but w/ 2 yellow clones :-*

Thanks again Jeff for supplying my fix and now I can wait and suck up the Kuby fumes :)

Thanks!  I went a little Kubie-overboard.  Between the box from Jeff, a spare Obi, and Jay's Maul and Qui-Gon, I spent about $120 on Kube-crack Wednesday.   ::)  Oh you wicked Kubie sellers talking to me during the Hasbro lull...

About this Zam Wessel chase, I know we're not getting another spare head with the alternate alien face.  But does anyone know if the alien face is painted on the back of the figure's head?  like the Rocky Kubricks have the busted up faces on the back sides of the head.

Going to pickup my Zam tonight but already confirmed from the seller that there ain't any alien face paint on the back sides of the head... :-\

I opened up my master case to get ready for tonight's big opening hoo-ha-ha, and 1 of mine was facing the other way (upper left). We are opening all of them, so I can't provide information on what was in each box- But I'll give you the chase info later.

I believe that was confirmed a "no" earlier.

National Console Support has sent me my box of Series 9 bricks. Seems quite a bit quicker than with Series 8, so I'm happy.

DSJ: congrats of getting the Zam, we are all ready for S10. ;)

For everyone's interest, referring to one of the local magazine here in HK, it is believe Medicom has really mess up with all the secret version and very little volume of Zam were picked with MC distributed to HK. As a result, collector (including me) has to paid extra $ to ship Zam all the way from Japan. No wonder why $ of Zam had shoot sky high.... :'(

Feel the Kubrick Karma flowing within you...

Went home this afternoon to intercept my master case before my wife arrived home from work.  Busted into it once I got back to work.  Two of my boxes were facing one direction, two were facing the other direction...  Got very nervous right off the bat...  Took a chance and started with what I thought was #3 from Jeff's picture.  Sure enough, 2 Yellow Clone Commanders.  Went right to box #4 and popped Shaak Ti out of the Anakin box!  VERY relieved that I got a rare one in my master case this time around!!!

So here's my update:

Series 9 Master Case #1 - Jeff = 1x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #2 - Scott = 2x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #3 - I Am Sith = 2x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #4 - Brent S
Series 9 Master Case #5 - Gorkoracing
Series 9 Master Case #6 - Dan = 2x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti

Series 9 Master Case #9 - Adrian = 2x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #10 - SPLIT
  2x Box of 12 - skyward72

Series 9 Master Case #11  -  SPLIT

Amen my friend!

I opened my Master Case (well 3 of 4 boxes) - I got 2x Yellow Clones and Shaak Ti as well.  All is good in my world.  I haven't opened the last box of 12 yet and I'm not sure if I will.

For what its worth, all but one of my boxes of 12 were facing the same direction.  The one that was reversed had the 2 yellow clones.

So here's the update after me.

Series 9 Master Case #1 - Jeff = 1x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #2 - Scott = 2x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #3 - I Am Sith = 2x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #4 - Brent S = 2x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #5 - Gorkoracing
Series 9 Master Case #6 - Dan = 2x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #7 - Outkast34
Series 9 Master Case #8 - rdm5777
Series 9 Master Case #9 - Adrian = 2x Yellow Clone; 1x Shaak Ti
Series 9 Master Case #10 - SPLIT
  2x Box of 12 - skyward72
  1x Box of 12 - Jon
  1x Box of 12 - {pending}
Series 9 Master Case #11  -  SPLIT
  1x Box of 12 - jedijaybird = 2x Yellow Clone

Just got my box of 12 from National Console Support. Got 2 yellow clones in the box. Funny thing was that the first clone box I opened was a yellow one, and so was the next. I was like, "wait, these aren't all supposed to be yellow, are they...?" Nice to get some chases anyway. I'll try and get some pictures posted later.

Well, got my master case from the post office today. I got Shaak Ti in the first case I opened. In the second case I opened I got 2 Yellow Clones. I'm not sure what I should do with the 2 unopened cases. Should I open them up and sell them as sets or sell them as unopened boxes? First time I bought a master case so I'm not sure what to do.

Nice Job guys.

@ Outkast - traditionally, it seems like a Case of 12 is worth more in resale than a lose set of 12.  However, Series 9 seems weird in that even the basic sets are selling for very much.  I'm going to try and unload my extra two sets of 6 and then get rid of as many Jangos, Yodas as I can.  I'll probably keep most of my extra clones and build a Grand Army of the Republic.
Title: Re: Series 9

I figured the sealed case would go for more. I just feel bad selling what I'm 99% sure there are no chases in. I was thinking of maybe selling 1 sealed case and maybe a set including the extra chase clone to try and make some money to get a Zam

You could mention that you don't think there are any chases in there. That's probably what I would do.

Anyway, here a picture of mine new ones, along with Series 8.

DSJ-

Are those standard Kub/Bearbrick display cases you've got there?  Looks like it, and if so, why does it appear that most/all your figures are off center?  I have all this series also, and in my cases, they are perefctly centered by using the footpeg.  Is this due to them holding the lightsabres, and they are all the way at the back wall of the case?  Could be but if that were true, I think the pegs would be visible, but they aren't. did you remove them?  Most noticeable is Amidala, who isn't even sitting flat on the floor of the case.  Just wondering.

Anyway, congrats on obtaining all 9.  I think the chases from this series are some of the best ever.

(BTW, Jango has two guns. Where's the other one?  =)

Post by: DSJ™ on August 5, 2008, 11:35 AM
I have the connecting tabs of the cases facing rear & right instead of rear & left & so yes they are off center. I don't like the tab hanging off the left side when displayed & I'm the only one that really looks at them.  ;D

As for Jango's other blaster, it's in his holster.  ;)

I think that is the cheapest I have seen thus far.

Finally found an "affordable" Zam for $150 last week.  She came in the mail today, and even though I'm irritated that I allowed myself to pay $150 for her, I am happy to finally close the book on Series 9.

Now the wait begins for the formal announcement on Series 10!  8)

I think so.  I haven't really seen these for less than that.  Brian's Toys has one up for $120 + shipping, so this guy is at least below that...  From my last post, Ningyoushi had this up for $100 when Series 9 came out, so it's not that much over.

I think it's fair - not great.  There was a Shaak Ti for $80 BIN for several weeks, but the seller wanted $30 shipping.  That would have actually been a few bucks cheaper.  Might even still be out there if you search for it.  On the flip side, I think you'll be hard pressed to find this for $100 or less, so it's not that much more.

I say it's a good deal too & shipping is not to high. That other one with the shipping of $30 from Hong Kong is way to bloody high. No one is going to pay that.

the reason and only reason sellers charge for examply 30.00 for shipping out a Kub is to save money on Ebay fees. It also looks appealing when you see it priced lower than any other one. My experience with one went like this:  I bought a chase figure Shaak for 75.00 but to my own fault did not pay attention to the shipping cost. It said 45.00, I thought it said 4.50. This seller was from the U.S.  Anyways, when he invoiced me , I emailed him back and he said that was the cost for " handling and supplies " Well I contacted Ebay about this. I said how can it cost 45.00 for a cardboard box or a padded envelope? They told me that it is against Ebay policies to overcharge shipping. I then paid the 45.00 and after I received my figure, I filed a complaint. I ended up getting 35.00 back. I have watched his auctions since and now his shipping cost is now fair. So I am sure he was notified of the policy.

Well actually, I would rather pay $80 + $30 shipping versus $115 + $2 shipping.   ;)

That tactic of paying the heavy shipping, then filing a complaint is intriguing.  I've always tried to get them to lower it up front, unsuccessfully.  I could see going that route over the second auction at $117 - even if you didn't get any money back, you ended up with a pretty fair price.

Due to the point in the second sentence, I disagree with your argument in the first sentence ;)

Yeah, eBay/Paypal fees are killer, but they won't be $30-40 for a $120 item.  The main reason I think foreign sellers in particular do this, is to deceive buyers such as yourself who don't notice the crazy expensive shipping.  I actually don't like the idea of filing a complaint to get the money back.  Though you can take issue with what the seller is doing, I say report the guy if you don't agree.  If you notice the price and bid, then you should feel responsible for paying what you agree to, IMO.  If you actually don't notice the crazy "shipping" cost before bidding, but do notice before paying, then I would contact the seller first.  If he was willing to let you out of paying, I would let it go, if not, then and only then would I justify filing a dispute.  Just my perspective, though.

Personally, I try to charge about $2 extra in my "shipping" costs on items I sell on eBay just to cover a part of my fees.  As eBay keeps raising fees, I understand the need to pass the buck to the customer (why do we have sales tax, after all?).  But extreme price gouging on shipping is pretty despicable, IMO.  Apart from deceiving customers, eBay does deserve something for the service it provides, and until a real competitor shows up, if you don't like the fees, then I say, don't list auctions.  EBay sucks, but sellers shouldn't screw them over just because eBay screws sellers over.

So you accurately pay federal taxes on all the stuff you sell on Ebay, right?  Just want to make sure.   ;)

Personally, I don't view someone selling something at $50 and charging $50 shipping any differently than them selling at $100 with free shipping.  If it costs me $100, it costs me $100. End of story.  I've tried to work with Ebay on a few instances where sellers were charging ridiculous $25+ shipping for loose figs that shouldn't cost more than a couple of bucks.  I even pointed out that the sellers were trying to avoid paying Ebay fees and Ebay did NOTHING about it.  I'd rather be putting the dollars back into the sellers's hands than lining Ebay's pockets anyway.

Fortunately, the federal government still hasn't forced many online retailers to pay sales tax (this seems only to apply to state laws regarding in-state sales, as far as I have seen).  If this changes (as I have read it might), and applies to eBay, then that might be one more reason not to sell on eBay at all.  I already spend upwards of 20% of a final selling price with all the eBay fees.  Throw another 9-10% on top of that, and I don't see much reason to sell there.

I believe he's referring to the fact that you're supposed to declare on your income tax stuff like the profit made by selling things online. This is a separate issue from sales tax, which as private individuals we aren't required to collect.  I doubt that many people actually do declare this stuff though.

That is because "profit" is subjective.   When you factor in what you actually paid vs what you make above and beyond what you actually paid as times you lose on items I doubt in the end the casual ebayer needs to worry

Yet we should.  Because it could all change at any time.  In NY State there is a slot on the state income tax form where you are supposed to declare and pay sales and use tax on items you purchased out of state for use in NY.  Drive to PA and buy clothes where they don't collect sales tax, pay NY.  Buy a TV in Vermont and bring it home, pay NY.

Sounds ridiculous to me but it's just one small step away from having to collect sales tax on items, and I don't think that the states will care if you sold something at a loss, they're going to want their cut.

Not sure how ridiculous it is or not.  In Canada, we pay "customs fees" on toys we bring into the country.  Granted not ever box gets hit, but every box is eligible and those customs fees are nothing more than the taxes we'd pay on that item were we to purchase it here.

Ebay sellers are also expected to pay federal GST tax on their sales in Canada.  Thus far they aren't targeting casual sellers, but anyone with a store on ebay is expected to pay tax and I guarantee someone is watching and keeping track.

That is because "profit" is subjective.   When you factor in what you actually paid vs what you make above and beyond what you actually paid as times you lose on items I doubt in the end the casual ebayer needs to worry

You'd have to factor in time and fuel costs into the item as well.  Those would be legitimate expenses, so I'd agree with Scott that the profit is in most cases quite minimal.  It's what makes sellers of most Star Wars or Hot Wheels toys on ebay laughable.  Factor in your time, fuel, ebay fees, paypal fees and the profit margin is basically nil.

Closed the book on Series 9 tonight by picking up a Zam chase.  She has become my new highest priced single Kubrick, taking over for the L-Slot chase I bought a few months ago.  It was more than I initially wanted to spend, but I had the extra cash from selling some other items, so I'm glad to finally get this one.

Sorry Jeff, I was going to take your 400% Boba Fett off your hands, but decided to get this figure instead.  Hopefully you'll still have it when I save up enough $ again.

Getting the figure with no weapon is hardly the same as using a repro.  Zam and Saesee are figures that rarely show up.  If my choices are a $200 BIN or a $50 fig with no weapon, I'm going to go weapon free for now.   ;)

Not quite what I meant, though I admit the analogy is imperfect.

I'm just saying I wouldn't really want a "fake" figure in my collection, even if it's still made at the same factory but was rejected for whatever reason (and some enterprising young individual managed to pull those rejects out of the trash).  I get that it's still technically real and just missing the weapon, I'm just saying it would bug me in the same way as having a repro weapon with a vintage figure would bug me - ultimately I'd have to get the real thing to replace it.

Personally I wouldn't be able to tolerate owning a figure that I know isn't 100% legit.  Maybe a better analogy is having the TRU recast vintage farmboy Luke figure in my vintage collection; ultimately nothing wrong with it but not quite the same.  That's the reason I never bought a Logray once the "fakes" were announced until I was able to pick one up from a reputable source.  The other option to the $200 BIN is patience.   ;)

If you can get past those issues, more power to ya.

Title: Re: Series 9
Post by: JediJman on February 9, 2010, 10:06 AM
I can see your point, but I still think the comparison is off.  The figure's origin is unknown...possibly a cast off or over produced figure, but that's not anything like a second run or reproduction of a figure.  If, as someone else suggested, there are a few extras produced and this is merely an extra, then I'm fine with it not having come from an actual chase box at some point.  It was produced at the same time as the other figures and barring any defects it isn't really any different.  The bigger issue for me is the missing weapon, but like I said, I'm willing to look past that for now.  That certainly doesn't mean that at some point down the road I wouldn't swap the figure out or pay a lot for the weapon to complete him.
