Post by: Hes No Good to Me Dead on June 23, 2007, 03:42 AM
The vintage die hards are going to flip out when the see this. Yes and Uzay Blue Stars Kubrick. Yes it is the Snowtroopers painted blue. Wicked stuff!! Again it looked like it would be a carded release.

(http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/konfus/a010.gif)  OMFG!  (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/konfus/a038.gif)

Holy...  (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/froehlich/a049.gif)   (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/froehlich/a052.gif)

Ya made my day Simon, ya really did. Now I have to go change my shorts!  ;D

For those that don't know what an Uzay is, well they are unlicensed Turkish SW figures known to us vinty collectors as bootlegs. You can read more about them in the archive in the link below.

The Comprehensive Guide to Uzay Carded Figures (http://theswca.com/images-speci/yglesias/uzay.html)

Oh my, is this the begining of a Uzay carded Kuby series?  :o  8)

Oh man, I am shaking with excitement.  (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/froehlich/a065.gif)

It was totally the best figure there Dale. Just when you think Medicom have come up short bu releasing the new Prequel Kubs, they fire back with a complete and welcome surprise.

I wonder if Medicom will pay a licensing fee to George for this one... :-\

I am completely blown away with this Kuby, who or whom in Medicom comes up with this stuff? Someone/s must be a good ol vinty collector. I have got to see pics of this.  ;)

Damn, just damn.  :o

There was no way I could get a pic of it today as security were really tight. I might try and sneak back in there for a few snaps later in the week when it is a bit quieter if someone hasn't already taken some.

Its killing me no pictures have been leaked yet, especially for this one.
Title: Re: Uzay Blue Stars
Post by: Morgbug on June 26, 2007, 04:09 PM
Yup, that's about the only one pressing for me too.  The Han is nice, but without being a real coin and not being significantly different enough I won't pick it up either. (The carbonite is different enough, but not $300 different enough for an opener)

So this is the one I have my eye on, will pick up and will open.
Title: Re: Uzay Blue Stars
Post by: Morgbug on October 3, 2007, 01:36 PM
So nothing still on this one?  This is the only Kubrick that has a pressing interest for me at the moment (until they slide an OT chase in series 8 anyway) so I'm kind of wondering.  Wonderfest exclusive?  Where else could they release this, aside from a collectors club piece?

I just hope its one of the easier carded figures to get, around the 80-100.00 dollar mark and not the 300.00 ones.

Jeff, was this to be carded?

I believe that is the case, but it has not been confirmed.

eBay will be your only option most likely.  99% of the time, the Medicom Collector Club exclusives are never offered anywhere else.  :(

The best example of this is the 2007 Box Set from earlier in the year.  A lot of places (like BBTS) took pre-orders, but the Collector Club (or someone who bought from the Collector Club) was the only place to get them.

Nope.  Generally the collectors club items are restricted to Japanese households, one per household.  No collectors club members outside Japan (and possibly Hong Kong) is there standard policy as I understand it.

Since it's a 2007 piece edition, the range should be anywhere from $60 to $120.  It definitely should be cheaper than the rarer Parco Show carded figures since those are usually only 150-500 piece edition sizes.

It's a repaint EU trooper, so it could bottom out around $60 like the Shadow Stormtrooper and Holo Leia figures did.  But, the fact that it has "Kenner Vintage" appeal probably means that it will hover closer to the $100 mark like the Droids carded R2 and Fett figures have done.

I can see this going for around the $100 mark too, if this sucker is carded like the vintage UZAY bootleg then maybe a tad more.

Title: Re: MCC Blue Stars Snowtrooper
Post by: Morgbug on December 27, 2007, 12:02 AM
$100 will be a good deal, I'd suggest.  Be like the Blue Snaggletooth in that it will draw in Kuby chase fans plus a huge draw as a vintage nod.  So priced like the Droids R2, but higher.

One thing that hasn't been pointed out yet is that these are on a lottery system for the members of the collector's club.  There is no guarantee even for a member, because the numbers are limited.  So you enter the raffle as a member of the club and still have to have some luck to win.  Limited numbers and all that.  I believe some of the collector's club exclusives are run on a 'per order' basis where there is a window for ordering and when it closes the edition size made is however many orders were received for a piece.  I think the latest box set was like that, but am not certain.  Obviously not the case with 2007 pieces only.

Can someone help me with the Japanese website where you actually can join the collectors club?  I still pretty new to Kubes and I can't find it.  I'm hoping to get my neighbors brother (still lives in Japan) to join.

Post by: mondocoyote on December 31, 2007, 07:10 AM
to the best of my knowledge there is no collectors club as such.  If its the same as in the past you just pay, or, in the case of a lottery, give your address, and details. later they email you.

I checked and I'm still at the old price too.  I printed off my invoice to keep, just in case.  I think the $99 price tag is still probably pretty reasonable, but I wouldn't have ordered at that price.  The price for the Maul is scary ouchy.

Good god, that price hike is insane.  :o

Yeah I guess once word was out & AHQ got a few preorders on those Kuby's they said whoa, bump them up. Good thing for those who got it in them, I got my preorder invoice shortly after placing my order & on my account the price is the same when I saw them.

I took a chance on both. Hope it works out better than the 2007 box set I tried to get off toywiz

Yep, I think the preorder at Toywiz went down the toilet like BBTS. Sure hope this all works out, fingers crossed. (http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_29_107v.gif)

The Box set was the same exact situation, unless these people know something we don't.

Actually its worse if you think about it, I don't think the Box set had a limit # on it, these do.

Just got an email from my Japanese buddy and this is to be shipped to him this month along with the Darth Maul speeder bike.  I wonder if I orders from the etailer on the previous page will be filled and honored.  And honored at the $49 price at that.  It's still not a bad price for them, half of that is profit.  Of course I can see why $99 would appeal to them more.

Yeah, as one of the people that got confirmation at the less expensive prices for the pre-orders, I'm going to be very interested to see if they honor those prices or not...  I'll also be very interested to see if they get these sets or if it ends up being another 2007 Collector's Club boxset fiasco all over again.

So I just got a cryptic email from my neighbor and she said that her brothers did get the shipping notice for these as well.  I wasn't under the impression that she got them to put in the lottery for this one too (I just thought they did the Darth Maul one).  So, it seems there's a remote chance I'll be getting one of these too.

Interesting, I sent them an e-mail last week as well and I haven't heard anything back from them yet... I ordered at the cheaper price and am now wondering if they will be filling the higher priced orders first :-\.

Hey DSJ, have you heard from them?

I confess that I'm getting two as this is the only Kubrick I really want to have carded.  But I have to have a loose version as well.

Jeff & anyone else that got the Blue Stars, do you have the TOMY sticker on the back of the card? Mine came without one but not a big deal to me. I do have the holo sticker on the card tho. I have seen the odd auction pic's of them having the TOMY sticker. Maulsith mentioned he never got the TOMY sticker on his carded Droids Fett & I was just curious if anyone else got this.

Mine has a Takara Tomy sticker on it, right next to the holo sticker.

Okay, 3 people thus far with the TOMY sticker. Like I said, it's not a biggie. I'm chalking this up to a factory error/oops, forgot the TOMY sticker thing.  ;D

Just a heads up for those who preordered from Action HQ, I sent them an e-mail on the status of my order & if they are expecting the items to arrive soon & received this reply a short time ago.

Quote
Hello Dale
Thank you for your email.

We are expecting the stock to arrive in June.

There might be an increase in the retail prices of the Star Wars kubricks.

We will inform you and seek your permission if there is.

We do apologise in advance if this is the case, as these figures are exclusives, and their prices are often volatile (meaning what we were quoted from suppliers might change when the stocks are on hand) Although we do our best to make sure the prices are low on the onset when we list them.

Thank you
Best Regards

So now it might be in June. Might be an increase in price! I don't ******* think so.  ::)
Title: Re: MCC Blue Stars Snowtrooper
Post by: Morgbug on May 26, 2008, 11:55 PM
Nice.   >:(

I think I'll be giving them some serious grief over a price increase.  Might have to ask them why, considering I know what retail is.  Ask them how honorable they are in business and if would do them well if I wrote to the local paper asking about stuff like that.  I don't really know how much saving face matters anymore but I'm gonna make them look bad if they start jacking me around.  I've got my blue stars, this was an opener for me, so if I lose it, I can survive it.

Boy, that's distressing...  I'll do my damnedest to get them to honor the original price, but I know it will end up as a losing battle.

I really was hoping that I could get these.  I guess I still can, just at a pretty unreasonable price :-\

My local connection came through.  Blue Stars and Darth Maul were waiting on me when I got home:

Crazy to think I got the blue stars carded version before I got the regular boxed set version of a snowtrooper.

Now what to do about opening the card???

I just checked out the Action HQ site, it went from this:

Item status:
This is a PREORDER item and is expected to be in stock on:
Friday 30 May, 2008. Subject to change.

to this:

Item status:
Available now and was added to our catalog on:

Well this is a good sign & we should be getting an e-mail from them on our orders hopefully this week. Still keeping my fingers crossed on this, better not be a price increase.  >:(

I'm right there with you Dale.  I haven't heard a thing yet, and I agree that there shouldn't be a price increase on these either.  The b.s. reason they gave you in that e-mail doesn't make sense when you consider that they raised the price in less than 24 hours the first day of the pre-order.  I'll fight it as much as I can, but if they won't honor the price they originally quoted us, I'm not going to get these...  Not when Series 9 is around the corner and I need the extra money to help pay for my MC...

Well it looks like they adjusted their prices quickly, $99 for the snowtrooper and $169 for the maul.  :P

They adjusted again... $149.95 for the Blue Stars & $199.95 for Maul. Are they ******* kidding!

Kubrick Snowtrooper (Blue Stars Ver.) (http://www.actionhq.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=3012)

I sent another e-mail inquiring about my preorder, ain't holding my breath fo any good news.  :-\

If they end up getting them and wanting to charge me that much I think I'm going to pass and wait for ebay. The price jump on them on that site has been rediculous.

Well guy's, looks like the deal at Action HQ is SOL. I received a couple of e-mail from them, both e-mails were the same.

Hello Dale
Thank you for your email.

The website shows the kubricks as available, but they are still not in stock on our side.

As these kubricks are exclusives, they are released in Japan, but we are yet to obtain them.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Also, we have a problem to fulfil your order due to the price point at which you placed the order for the kubricks.

We are currently unable to get them at the prices you have purchased them for, and we will likely need to make a refund to you and cancel your order with our sincerest apologies.

Thank you
Best Regards

Yeah, refund my $$$ ya bunch of asswipes because your not getting anymore $$$ for the Kuby's for the insane price hike let alone my business ever again!  >:(

That sucks, big time. That is no way to run a business- if you take an order and get the product, you fill the order (in the order they were received, not based on price paid). You paid the asking price at the time of the order, if they made a mistake, they should deal with it on their end.
