Good luck on that. Medicom only releases them like every year and a half with the last batch at the beginning of this year...

Hi! There are 2 auctions on e-bay for the Medicom cases. 1 is for 6.50 each and another is for 100.00 for a case of 20. I think the pricing is amazingly high. I could be wrong on this but I think when I bought a case from Medicom it was @ 40.00 plus 15.00 shipping. The real Medicom cases have a peg on the floor to help the figures stand up nicely. You might also consider the Johnny Lightning cases that hold 6 figures. No peg as they are meant for cars but at 6.00 a cases they work really nice. They also link together to make a solid bigger display. If you look in the "show your Kubs" thread there are nice pix of these cases.

Toytokyo has the official Be@rbrick display cases available right now at this link: https://www.toytokyo.com/shopping/index.php/page/product/product_id/7308
$37.99 for 20 cases.  I purchased four cases of these from them earlier in the year without problems.  Get 'em while you can!

Yep, Toytokyo has the better deal. I too ordered 4 cases back in December last year for the same price. I'd jump on them at that deal, they even sell singles.

Strange why they would not ship to NC, I can't check that out as I am in Canada. Maybe try contacting them via e-mail or by phone.

Title: needing a rant on medicom display cases...
Post by: spookedhippie on January 30, 2010, 03:52 PM
Well just been reorganising the collection and low and behold my early bird chewie gets the peg he is on snapped off and stuck in his foot... i've tried everything to get it out apart from chopping chewie's bloomin' leg off! In the need of a good moan at the display cases, looks like it was a clean break of the peg off the actual case, so not at all happy!

Now the real question, am i over reacting as it is just one foot and no one will see it?! And apart from those of us who use the medicom cases, does anybody care if there is some plastic lodged in a foot?!

I don't use these for my Kubes, but can totally understand your frustration.  I had a peg lodged in one of my vintage figures and even though you couldn't see it on display, it drove me nuts.  I had to eventually replace it because I'm OCD about that stuff.  I don't have any idea how to fix it, but would love to hear suggestions if anyone has one.

With regards to the display cases, is that a common problem or an isolated issue?  I can come up with complaints on just about every type of SW item  I've run into, but sometimes you just have some bad luck on things like that.  I use the JL cases for my figs and they stand up pretty well in there without the pegs.  Probably not worth switching over all your stuff, but maybe it's worth not using the pegs on your future stuff if you're worried about this happening again.   :-\

Get a drill and use an ultra thin drill bit. Drill into the peg in chewie and then pull. I've not done it with a kub myself but I have used a similar technique on other items than have snapped off.

Or you could hold a pin in a pair of pliers, heat the pin with a flame then stick it into the peg, let it cool and hopefully it should come out.  :)

thanks guys for the ideas, i've tried the drill bit too no avail but the heated pin might work! I'll report back on news... always good to know you have people looking out for your kubs!

And Jman its good to hear i'm not the only who gets obsessed with stupid things like this!

I had one that broke off, I drilled a hole & use a very thin set of pliers. I stuck it it the hole & twisted & pulled till I had some movement then got a good grip on it inside & out & it popped out. I find some of the pegs or the holes on the feet to be tight. Might be an idea to add some vasoline to the peg or just enlarge the hole a bit, did that a few times on the holes.

Thanks for all the help guys, bobajode your technique worked a treat! You have no idea how grateful I am! Chewie still looks mint, untouched by the burning pin! Oo DSJ like the thought on the vaseline... Can't believe that this seems to be a common occurence with the cases... now i have to worry about my kubs even more!

That would depend on how much you order & where it would be shipping as shipping costs varies based on product weight & destination so all in all it's between you & the site.  ;)

Short breakdown:

Canada: Left nut.
Overseas: Both nuts.
US: Just the sack.  :P

I got shipping for free because I ordered over $100 worth.

I'm making the switch to these cases because where I thought I was going to display my Kubricks, I can't because there's not enough room.  (I have two Bertbys (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00093136) that I thought was going to be enough for my loose SW, GIJoe and Kubrick collections.  Turns out I had more Joes than I originally thought so the Kubrick got bumped).

How many figures can you get in a Bertby?

How many figures can you get in a Bertby?

Quite a few, actually.  10 shelves including the bottom by 7" deep gets you a lot of space.  The SW one has my meager vintage collection on the first four shelves from the top, then the modern Vintage collection figs on the next, Concept figures on the next and then three rows of astro droids.  The bottom is for miscelleneous stuff and where my Willrow is proudly displayed.

The Joe cabinet is split up between Joe and Cobra and there's enough room left for the few figures I still want to get.

I really need to update my collection thread with new pics...

My bertby:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/tiny-lobsterfish/4425774255/

Bertby naturally comes with 10 evenly spaced shelves.  I'm going for 7 wide comfortably, with a styrofoam riser for 14/shelf, so I can get 140 easy in there.  If I get creative with droids or elves, I can pull off an additional 4-8 per shelf, so if I had to I could get over 200 without it looking like a kegger.

Not quite that many.  I have 15 of them though if you're interested.  I have all my Kubes up on the wall in JL cases.

On the subject of JL cases I wish I could find a supplier in the UK as it's killing me on shipping for just 6 cases from the states.

It is a 6-space display case for Johnny Lightning (think Hot Wheels) cars.  Turned 90 degrees it makes a great Kubrick Display.  Here's an example from Ebay:

I just remembered I posted that suggestion. Glad to hear it worked and Chewie didn't get his toes burnt. I've a feeling that would have driven you insane knowing his foot not only had a peg in it but was also melted  ;)
