Title: Your tales of the strange and bizarre...
Post by: JediMAC on July 2, 2003, 03:59 PM
I figured we could share whatever weird/strange/bizarre stories are going on in or around our lives here...

What prompted this thread, was that last Tuesday, a local college called my wife to inquire as to whether she was available to teach one of their summer history courses.  Since she's already in the process of teaching a couple summer classes elsewhere already, she asked when their summer session was starting, and they replied that it actually started a day earlier.

It turns out that the original professor for the class had a heart attack and died the first day of class...  In class, right in front of the students...   :o  Needless to say, a number of the students wound up dropping the class due to being too freaked out by the whole episode.  Turns out this man was also a teacher during the regular school year at the high school where my father in law is the principal, so it affected both Patty and her Dad, who this guy worked for...  Pretty strange.

So Patty decided to go ahead and teach the remainder of the class, as strange and unfortunate as the circumstances were...   :-\

And in another bizarre story, I actually went to a wedding last night.  Yeah, a TUESDAY night wedding.  Go figure...  Kinda weird couple (she's my co-worker), who wanted to get married at an old club in Hollywood (El Sid).  Needless to say, 3/4ths of our company is hungover today, on a Wednesday.  Good prep for the Holiday weekend, I suppose...   :P

So, anybody else have some strange things goin' on in their lives...?

I don't know if this counts as strange or bizarre but this is a pretty odd story.

A couple days ago while at the gas station filling up, an elderly man was filling up his car in the same row of pumps as mine but was about 15 ft down from me. So I'm standing there waiting for mine to finish and all the sudden I hear something that sounds like running water nearby. After hearing this for a few seconds, I look over at this guy and gas is just gushing out of his gas tank. He didn't even notice as his eyes were locked on the screen that shows the total amount owed. Meanwhile he has gas pouring all down the side of car, on his shoes and a nice big puddle forming under his car. Finally a few seconds later he noticed and stopped but not before there was a puddle a good 6 ft in diameter underneath his car. I went in to pay just shortly after he did and the area up by cashier just reeked of gas.

Poor guy. It was kind of funny though too. I can't say I've ever witnessed anything like that before.

I haven't had any strange or bizarre things happen to me lately but I have a few when I was younger.
My familiy went up North to visit family and on the way home we noticed a hitch hiker we passed him up and kept on going home.  A hour or so later we see another hitch hiker as we look we see that its the same guy we pass and go on our way.  A few hours later we see another hitch hiker, and you guess it the same guy.  It was kinda of strange to see him three seperate times on our way home.
Like I said nothing recently has happen so now that I posted in this thread something going to happen. ;)

When I was around 12 years old my Mother and I were sitting on the porch back home watching an incoming Thunderstorm.  As we sitting there watching the the dark sky, lightning off in the distance, thunder
banging away. We both saw a object "Floating" across
the sky. It was shaped like an egg with a square box
attached to the bottom of it. It was about a size of a car. We watched it float acrooss the sky from left to right for about 3 minutes or so, it stopped and sat motionless for around 30 seconds. Without warning
it shot straight up with amazing speed and vanished.

We never talked about it for along time as we didn't know what to say to each other or anyone else for that matter.

Skip ahaead 20 years........

I was living in Victoria, BC at the time. I was collecting Comic books then. One day I was in a Comic shop which not only sold Comics but Magizines. I was leafing through the SciFi mags and I came across a
a mag with pics of UFO's.

You guessed it, in the inside cover, in full colour was a
pic of the same "object" I saw to many years before.
This picture of the "UFO" was taken in Brazil about
15 years after I saw it in Canada  20 years before.

I've got a hilarious one, but I'm afraid it might be a little too risque for the forum.  Most people I tell it to wind up nearly on the floor in laughter, but I'm hesitant to mention it here.

When he was younger, my dad lived next to a guy who owned a bunch of exotic animals. The guy was kind of nutty and a raging alcoholic. He'd go weeks without feeding the animals, a lot of them were sick and dying, and he would be torture and abuse some of them. One of his animals was a little chimpanzee, which he took great pleasure in constantly tormenting in a drunken rage. The guy went missing for a few days and finally the police came to investigate. They had to break into the house, as the guy was completely delusional and paranoid, keeping his house locked tighter than a safe. They found him, dead, his head crushed to the point that he was barely recognizable. They found a bloody smashed lamp with peculiar fingerprints on it. And who did they belong to? His chimp. The guy had apparently passed out drunk one night, and the chimp beat his head in with a lamp.

Less strange, this same chimp would also be allowed to go outside, and because he was forced to wear diapers, every time he'd take a walk outside, hed load his diaper and fling it all over the house. Kind of like a monkey poo Van Gogh.....

Bob, that is one freaky story.  I truly think I saw a UFO when I was in my teens.  I just wish I had a camera to take a picture of it, because it was that close to us.  I do believe in UFO's, and after seeing something in the sky, that easily could have been an UFO, there's no doubt in my mind that they exist.

That, so far, is the best story that's been told here.  That's so cool that the chimp killed his owner.  That owner deserved it.  What would have made that story better is if the chimp started eating the owner.  Now that would be one great story.

How did you feel about being this guy's neighbor?  That would have freaked me out immensely, and probably would have given me nightmares for a while.

OK here is my wierd one.

Last night my wife and I watched "The Ring" for the first time on DVD.

It was scary at some points, but mainly I just found it a bit odd.  Anyway....

At about 3:30 AM my 6 year old daughter comes into our roon complaining she had a nightmare, Nadine asks her what it was about she says "there was a big deep hole"

Nadine and I just looked at each other.. I think if the phone had rung right then I would have been changing the sheets today!

To make it worse, I guess yesterady I got a sunburn and I must have slept on my hand.  I walking into the bathroom after discussing with Nadine how bizarre Haleigh's dream was and look at myself.. there is a big and print on my chest.

: insert creepy music here :

Anyway if I stop posting here after 7 days you all know what happened to me :-)

If you screen your phonecalls, she cant kill you ;)

As for the chimp story, this was before my day, when my dad was in his mid twenties. I guess the entire neighborhood hated this guy, but nobody was ever able to provide proof of the stuff he was doing. He'd always clean up his act for a while if cops showed up. Needless to say, there wasn't much remorse when the guy was killed by his chimp, but probably a lot of silent cheering.

Matt, I actually told it to one of my bandmates and our recording studio manager tonight, and I really don't think it would be good here.  It's really kind of graphic.

here a bizzare story.

today, I went out to go to Manhatten  in NYC . So I took a city bus there. After finishing what I had to, I took the same city bus to get back home. Now When i got in, it was the same exact bus with the same driver  that   drove to Manhatten.

When I was a junior in highschool, I had a dream(NOT one of THOSE Dreams :o, Perverts).  I was  being chased by some unknown person all night.  It was really foggy out, I heard a gunshot in my dream(my alarm going off in the real world), and literaly jumped out of bed.  I had slept on my side and my leg was dead asleep so when I hit the ground my leg gave out and I fell to the floor.  I was still asleep and started pulling myself across the hallway to the bathroom while yelling that I had been shot in the leg.  My mom came running up the stairs and started shaking me awake.

It's one of her favorite stories, topped only by the time I took her friend's Strawberry Daquiry(??spelling??) and ended up drunk in the pool with my floaties.  I was 4. ;D

lol

When I was in my early teens, I had a really bad case of the flu, and I was running a fever around 103-104, sometimes higher. It got to the point I was having hallucinations. About 3:00 in the morning, my parents were woke up, and went to the bathroom to see what they heard. It was me. Curled up in a fetal position on the floor, petting and trying to feed cat food to a bath towel. I was in hysterics because "fluffy wont eat!". I was in an absolute panic because I couldn't get the "cat" to eat any of the food. I guess shortly thereafter I urinated on myself and passed out (or vice versa). I dont remember any of it

Most of the memorable things in my life have been strange and bizarre...

Will highlight two..

When I was young, about 6, I dreamt for the first time in color.  It was the most vivid drem I believe I have had in my life (and this was close to four decades ago).  I dreamed that Dorothy Gale, from the Wizard of Oz was having a picnic with my family in our back yard.  I had only seen the movie once before, when I was five, but knew it was her.  As we were eating, my older brother (14) said "do you hear a jet?".  I ran around to our front yard and saw a tornado bearing down on our house - I woke up.  I told my mom about it and she said I had nothing to worry about because tornadoes didn't come into our town (Rapid City, SD).

The next weekend was father's day and we were all eating on our picnic table in the back yard.  My brother turns to me and says "Do you hear a jet?".  He runs into the house and turns on the TV.  He starts yelling something about a tornado working its way through town.  My family runs to the front yard, and sure enough, here is a tornado about 8 blocks away coming right for our block.  My mom is in hysterics, telling us we need to get inside.  Then I notice that the entire block is standing in their front yards, staring.

The tornado gets one block away, right behind a church across the street from us and we hear it strike a transformer behind the church.  The sparks and crackling were all over the place.  That is when I looked up into the sky.  Above the block to our south was the eye of the tornado.  I could look up into it and see a small patch of blue sky.  The tornado had split in half!

After a bit, the tornado re-assembled and moved AWAY from our block.  It actually taken a V path through town, doing damage ahead of the time it hit the transformer and after it.

In the history of the city, it is one of only two tornadoes that has hit Rapid City.

*****************

I was a sleepwalker as a kid, mostly because my dad played in a small jazz combo on weekends and I think subconciously I would worry.  One morning I woke up with dried mud in my sheets.  I asked my mom what happened last night and she said she didn't think I would remember.  I walked out in the pouring rain to our car in the driveway and sat in it.  When my mom followed me out, she asked me what I was doing, and, still asleep, I said i was waiting for dad.

She told me to get back inside to bed, and I proceeded to walk around outside for a bit before I got back to bed.

In relation to the "shot in the leg" story, I too had a similar situation. My friend was over, and he was playing his Playsatation, and I dozed off. He decided to play a rather violent game, somthing with lots of guns, and screams. I began to dream that I was in battle, and what happened was, he screamed "Incoming!!!" while playing, and my mind clicked, and my eyes shot open, and I threw myself at him, knocked over a coffee table for shelter, and asked where the enemy was before I realized what had happened.  :P

In a video game related weird event, P'Dubbs of the Sith was over playing my GameCube (Ironic, I know) and I fell asleep. He kept kicking the bed so I woke up to go get a drink. I stood up, and my leg was asleep, so It buckled, and I used my other leg, to catch myself. Little did I know that there was another controller there, and my foot landed on it, and I just fell to the floor *FLOP~* and fell back asleep after laughing for 5 seconds.

~Sound of my fat making contact with the floor.
