I'm kinda glad he has a gut and isn't all buffed out - which is how he was in real life so I'm cool with that.  Pretty cool that he'll be at Comic Con for the figure's release.  Nice touch   :)  It'd be nice if the hat was removable, but I suppose he's bald/been bald? so maybe a good decision to have it stuck in place.

He has some hair, but it's thinning greatly.  He was on wrestling a couple years ago at maybe Wrestlemania being inducted in the HOF or something, and I saw him sans hat, and basically he's pretty much bald.  Or near bald.

Can't wait for both versions of this. I'm going to try for the Triple T version, since that was the one I had as a kid, but it's inevitable that I'll want them both.  :)

I second that, I think the Triple T version looks more GI JOE than the other

Hiss has carded pics (http://www.hisstank.com/gi-joe-news/25th-anniversary-3/sdcc-25th-anniversary-style-gi-joe-sgt-slaugter-slaughters-auctions-9620/) of both versions.  Not really diggin the ROC colored camo for the pants on the second version and not sure why the peg hole isn't centered, but I'm still going to try and get both on HTS when they become available...Headache and all included.   :)

I saw both SDCC versions on ebay last night while I was looking for a vintage Slaughter. If you have $40-70 burning a hole in your pocket, you can get them now.  ::) I'll take my chances on HTS.

Not to keen on the weird ROC camo either. Hopefully, it's a problem with whoever took the picture.

I was just looking through my Joe Con photos of Slaughter and, unfortunately, I didn't take a really good shot of either version.  They were on a bottom shelf which had a light in it so the colors are kind of washed out.  I don't even really remember the color of his pants.

I want one of each of these, but I don't think we have anybody going to SDCC this year.

I think I'll try the ole HTS route.

I've had really good luck with HTS every year except one, and that was a gold head Pimp Destro.  I'm not even 100% sure they had that figure now, but I did get in on the silver version.  And I did buy both CC versions last year.

Gold Destro was on HTS, but sold out by the time I got to the site.  I generally have spotty luck with the Comicon stuff as I collect SW, TF, and Joes so something from those lines usually always gets pulled from my cart while I'm checking out.   :-\

Read rumors that the Seacons are going to show up at SDCC and will be up at HTS the next day.  Yes that has nothing to do with this thread.   :)

Last year I bought the SW and Soundwave exclusives from HTS with no problem...and the Joe exclusives hung around for a while.

When the Destro figs when up for sale I wasn't actually at my desk so I caught them a little late.  The gold Destro was the only exclusive that year that I didn't have a shot at, though.

$12.99 (http://comic-con.org/cci/cci_exclusives.php?company=hasbro) - hopefully I can snag both versions in the coming weeks...

Gijoeclub.com has the Slaughters available as a set in their store.

Yeah, but they want $40 and shipping for them.  I'm not usually one to bash the club, but that price is a little ridiculous since it's not a club exclusive item.  I'm assuming these will be on HasbroToyShop.com tomorrow for retail, and the 10% coupons may even apply.

I hope the coupon works tomorrow.  Passing on SWS for the Visionaries set for now...Just need me that, Blaster, and 3 Slaughters and I'll be a happy camper.   :)

I ordered the Visionaries set from SSW.com just in case.  I've been seriously thinking about Blaster to go with the Soundwave from last year.  I'm debating on the Slaughter figures.  They're cool enough, but if I don't get them I'm not going to lose any sleep over them.

The Club sold out of those $40 member priced Sgt. Slaughters.  They had quite a few and still sold out before HTS.  I thought the high price would help these stay in stock at the Club for a while.  Tomorrow morning is going to be busy like Mattycollector.

I just saw that HTS has its exclusives up for order, but I must have already missed the boat on Slaughter.  Oh well, hopefully he'll show up later.

I've been stalking the site all morning - refreshing every few minutes.  Not sure why they would have added a listing for him, but no stock.  Hopefully he'll be in stock soonish.

So did these EVER show as in stock? I checked before work today, and there's still the two listings with no pics, as it was earlier.

Nope.  I've been checking throughout the day once HTS threw up the listing for the Slaughters and the TF/SW stuff, but no dice.  I think they sold out through the show or through that other Joe site that had them listed for $40 a set or what not.

Yeah, suddenly paying $40 for the set from the Club almost looks like a good investment if you wanted these.  I passed on the club and now that they don't seem to be available online, I'm not going to worry about it.

I had the opportunity to snag the TF fig a couple of times when it was up but passed.  I didn't want to spend $50 on it just to go with the Soundwave from last year.  I think I already mentioned that I picked up the Visionaries set from SSW.com.  I'm fine with that even though HTS.com might be a couple dollars cheaper.

Bummer. Well, I'm going to the Chicago Comic Con next month, so hopefully, some dealer will have a reasonably priced set.

Slaughter's have split from each other on HTS and I believe one was available for a few seconds.  Going back to my haunting....

After this fiasco, if Hasbro has any of these available for sale AFA graded, that's going to be trouble that even Mattel could never have wrought.

Has anyone managed to get one of these?  Maybe my timing has just been bad, but he's been sold out every time I've ever checked there.  Not that I can't live without Slaughter, but it would have been nice to add him to the 25th collection.

I think the USA version has been available maybe three times for 5-10 minutes and then POOF.  I really wanted just one of these - well 2 - one for my carded collection as well, but ya I don't think that's going to happen.  Kinda sucky as I've seen all the other exclusives available at least a few times.   :-\

For once I had a hook up, and my little brother who attended SDCC picked me up a USA version.  I thought for sure I'd have a chance to get a Triple T version online, but now I'm just glad I got the one.

A little bit of info from a fellow from Hisstank named JediKnutt who actually got some decent info out of Hasbro:

Ok, here goes. All the Triple T Slaughters DID sell out. The stock they had held back for the site was sent to the con for replenishment. And that sold out. There are NONE of either version in the warehouse. They are GONE. BUT (and you hoped there would be one) they have ordered a whole additional production run (YAY!) and that should be on the site soon. No idea for sure when. When I told the guy about our little camp out and the outrageous prices on ebay he said "this next run should take care of ebay" and "we will not be sending any to AFA until there is a surplus".

I hope it's true.

I got mine from my little brother on Saturday.  The "USA" logo on his shirt is a little different than in the pictures; rather than just being on his gut portion, its split down the middle of the torso joint.  No biggie; just a little different.

From Hasbro PR:

To the G.I. JOE fan community,

The passion displayed since Comic-Con on fan-forums regarding the special edition Sgt. Slaughter figures has been truly remarkable. It proves that there is a huge appetite to see this character in action figure form and we’re thrilled that the designs were so well received. We know the Sarge himself, who you may have had the chance to meet in the Hasbro booth at Comic-Con, would be honored to see such an outpouring of support and desire for this special edition figure in his likeness.

We understand there has been a misperception that Hasbro Toy Shop did not offer the primary or variant versions of the figure on the website after Comic-Con as has recently been tradition. This is not true. As publicized prior to the convention, there were indeed a limited number of Sgt. Slaughter figures (both variant and primary) available after the show; a reserve set aside specifically for HasbroToyShop.com as there is with all of our special edition figures.

Due to the overwhelming popularity, the figures sold out extremely fast. While we cannot provide a number of how many were available for practical business reasons, we do understand the frustration of those fans who were hoping to purchase the Comic-Con figures online after the convention. However, the very nature of these special edition figures dictates that they will be made in very limited quantities and availability cannot be guaranteed. Again, coupled with a strong demand for these figures, the supply available at both the convention and online afterwards went incredibly fast. Our primary goal is to make as many figures available at the show for the convention attendees. We are glad that we are also able to make some figures available online to those not able to make it to San Diego, but again, this quantity is limited.

It is important to note that the best opportunity to obtain these special edition figures is at the convention itself.

While we cannot guarantee anything at this time, because of the demand by fans who could not get the Comic-Con figures, we are looking at making the Sgt. Slaughter figures available again at retail, albeit in different packaging and likely not as single-carded basic figures. While details are not final we are making progress for late Spring ’11 and will have news in a couple months. We look forward to updating you then.

Thank you once again for the enthusiasm and support.

Sincerely,

The G.I. JOE brand team

Well, hopefully it brings prices down so I can still get a MOC Slaughter someday. It's usually not Hasbro's M.O. to announce things like this even with the caveat and not deliver on them, so I'm hopeful.

pppppfffffffftt.  At least Hasbro responded to the outcry on this, but they could have just made another run.  I'm sure they'll paint him pink or give him some goofy deco whenever they get around to throwing him back up.   >:(

They also failed to mention that when he was available on HTS - it was only for a matter of minutes at extremely random times.  Going to be pissed if I see a bunch of AFA Slaughters on there.

Anywhoo......
