Title: Marvel Minimates
Post by: Brian on May 8, 2010, 08:50 PM
I didn't see a category here for the minimates yet, so hopefully the new thread was ok.  I'm not really actively collecting these things, but I was over at TRU.com and noticed that they have a poll up to vote for your favorite version(s) of Captain America to be made in Minimate form (http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=3108104).  It is called the "Through the Ages" poll, and I just thought I'd pass it along (thought of our resident Cap fan Scott, and for any minimate collectors that might be interested).

Thanks Jay.  I might spring for Hulk Buster Iron Man - man there have been a number of versions of that armor given the one story he used it in (Legends, Superheroes, Universe, Minimates).  Betsy & Lockjaw are a nice surprise, but I don't think I'll get them.

Lockjaw is awesome. I always had hoped for a Marvel Legends or Marvel Select release but it never happened. Perhaps we will eventually get one in Marvel universe.

Holy Crap.  Check out Series 42 if you're a Thor Fan.  80's Thor, Armored Thor, Balder, Thunderstrike, and look at that sweet Beta Ray Bill.  Must haves for me.

I picked up my first Minimates when I grabbed the Hulk/Iron Man and Captain America/Thor Avengers sets last night.

I've actually been slightly tempted to pick up the Avengers minimates as well.  It sounds like the Amazing Spidey ones should be hitting soon as well.  I don't know if it is a sign of retail being dry for awhile now, movie hype, or both - but this is the first time I've really looked at minimates for awhile.  Looking back now, it is impressive how many waves of these there has been over the years.

I snagged the Avengers Movie Minimates at TRU the other day.  I couldn't resist.  These all look great, unlike the actual 4" figures.
