I'm kind of underwhelmed at this list, especially given how interesting this year's crop of SW stuff was.  Maybe they're holding back the really neat stuff for the mid-year release in 2012.  There doesn't seem to be any truly new ship/vehicle among this list (with maybe Anakin's green JSF being the exception), and that Geonosian Cannon looks like it might be the "isn't this way overpriced for the number of parts?" culprit of the wave.

I have to say, though, that depending on execution, the mini-vehicle/minifigure/mini-planet idea could be a really good way to get more cost-prohibitive minifigures into more people's hands.  I'm figuring the "new" TIE Fighter will be at least 50 bucks, and with Sebulba currently only available in a 90 dollar set and the Naboo Pilot only currently available in a "special edition" exclusive set for 50 bucks, this does seem like a good idea, if only for the economics of it.

I am curious as to where the Queen Amidala minifigure shown at SDCC is going to show up, since she's not included in any of the sets on this list.

The Battle of Hoth LEGO Game should be fun, Never bought a LEGO game so I might pick this up.

The game and "Build A Galaxy" sets intrigue me...  I like the mini ships a lot, and mini figures, so that is a really appealing thing.  Kind of thing I could get into wholesale, and not feel too immersed in Lego (just don't have teh space/$ to get into it neck deep, but always want mini figs and mini ships).

I could not be more "in" on those mini fig w/planet/mini-ship sets.  I'm buying those.

I also could not be more "in" on the Hoth game.  Games like that, I'm buying.  I want a Death Star one NOW.

I know, I'm at the same point...  I'm ONLY going for small sets that are intended to army build, or those mini ships/mini fig sets.  Nothing more.  Nothing higher in price.

I agree. I like those mini figures with planet. I'll have to get my little duplo manic into regular legos now.

See I might go with OT only. The last set I bought was Jabba's Sail Barge back in 06 and they've made a lot of improvements since then, especially on the Minifigs. If only we could get say the Bounty Hunters and other main characters in those figure/planet sets, I'd be a happy camper.

Don't have links to the photos (as they tend to disappear quickly after I look at them), but it looks like there will be three more "mini-planet" sets:

-Bespin with Cloud Car and Lobot
-Endor with AT-ST Driver and AT-ST
-Some Planet with either an X-Wing or ARC-170 (can't tell from the photo)

Oh, and the Anakin's Jedi Interceptor set also includes platforms for the duel on Mustafar! :)

My Target reset their LEGO aisle and saw a bunch of new stuff - just none of the SW stuff.  New Y-Wing is $15?  Neat I think.  Didn't see any place holders for them, but the lastest LEGO catalog had the mini planet sets @$9.99 so that ain't too bad.  Also so the new girl branded brick stuff.  Wonder how well that stuff will sell?

The new X-Wing looks as though R2-D2 fits in sideways like many of the recent sets.  I wish they would go back to making the models in which the astromech droids fit in straight.  But I do like how The Anakin Jedi Starfighter looks.

Stopped by the LEGO Store at the mall today while I was there running an errand and they had all the new SW sets out, the first I had seen of them. I grabbed my first of what will be many of the Endor Trooper packs.

Good stuff so far. The Imperials now have Jango looking faces on their "regular" heads (think the 30AC Stormtrooper) and the Endor Rebel outfits/heads are both different, so you can headswap 2 sets and have 4 different soldiers. I actually bought some extra Hoth Rebel sets about a month ago in preparation of making some Rebel Trooper headswaps, so that was cool to see.

Can't wait to pick up the rest of the sets

Between Lego and Sideshow, they're maybe the two licensees that I feel handle their business the best.  Lego isn't cheap, but it's at least routinely on sale.  And it appeals very widely to not just kids, but collectors as well.  There's such a mini-fig market out there that it's a real shame Hasbro fought them on that issue back when they were doing simply just figures.

Still, they've got a semi-loophole around it and fans who just want figures can pretty much just get figures.  It's just always slow going it seems, to get them (a couple sets a year, nothing too broad).

Very glad Lego Star Wars is here for a while.  I don't even buy a lot of Lego anymore but I'm always giddy to see what they're doing regardless.

Also when I was at the Lego event here in Pittsburgh this past year, the sheer number of Lego Star Wars fanatics I saw was just really nice.  Tons of kids running around in shirts with little Lego Vaders on them and stuff.  It was great.  Wish there was almost more of a focus on the themed Lego sets then, actually.

LEgo sets up for Preorder...March release
Title: Re: Lego 2012

It is nice to see LEGO re-up their contract for Star Wars.  I really just got into LEGOs more over the past year and a half, and can only afford to pick up a set here or there right now.  Like Jesse said, it does seem like they just handle things so well, and now they are picking up more licenses that are interesting (LOTR, Marvel, etc.)  I don't know all the ins and outs of LEGO collecting, but it seems like generally you don't see a lot of the "what is LEGO doing?" type comments that you often see with the Hasbro line(s), so they do seem to keep their customers happy.

Another thing I think is nice about LEGO is that you don't necessarily have to buy a set the first time you see it or risk missing it entirely.  It seems like most everything is available for quite some time, and you can wait for the sales that places like TRU and Target seem to have somewhat regularly.  I only have a few sets (Falcon for Christmas, and then the X-Wing and Landspeeder sets from the past couple years), but I hope to pick up more as the budget allows.  I stick to OT only with these, but there is a lot of neat stuff out there.  I could see having one heck of a set up if it was the only thing you collected.  That's another problem (at least for me), having somewhere to put this stuff once you're done putting it together :).

Picked up the skiff today at Target. It is on a 1 dollar off "sale" so you can feel good about buying it. It rang up for 23.74. I also picked up the mini x wing planet set. Not bad for a little over 30 bucks. Two vehicles, 5 figures, a sarrlac, a planet, and stand. Hasbro could learn something from this. If figures are not going to have articulation anyway Lego is getting my dollar.

Broke down and got the 2012 Advent Calendar at TRU today "on sale" for $40. ::) I searched every store in my area but no WM or Target had any, so I caved.

They did have a BOGO half off sale though, so I snagged the retiring Naboo Planet set, giving me a complete set of Series 1 just as they go out of production

They've been on clearance at the Lego store down by me for a long time now at $24.99.  It wouldn't be a huge difference after shipping, but if you still have your receipt I could save you a few bucks if you want me to see if they have any left when I go back to work.

I know a lot of the 2012 stuff will slowly get phased out now, but I was curious, will the Jabba's Palace set be around for a bit yet?  I know places like TRU (which I know is higher priced) and Amazon sometimes have the sets available a bit longer than Target/WM, so I was wondering if that set might be available for awhile yet.  I've just been getting more into LEGO over the past year, and I'm still learning the availability patterns a bit.  Thanks for any advice.

Generally, the brick and mortar stores phase them out after about six months.  I've been to three Walmarts in the past week and they had none of the larger Star Wars sets.  Granted, they also don't have any figures on the pegs besides the TPM from the Vintage line and some clone wars stuff.

I just ordered the Jabba set off of Walmart.com.  Shipping was only ~$4.  Lego.com generally has the sets around a year or longer after their initial release.  All of their prices are MSRP unless they are running a sale.

Amazon had Jabba's Palace and the Rancor Pit for $160 the other day - probably still do (no tax + free shipping in most states)

I hear Target will be honoring online competitor prices all year long....not sure how the 0 tax thing would fly though.

I picked up Jabba's palace on clearance at walmart for $79 on Friday- I haven't been seeing it at Target since Christmas, so I wouldn't wait too long. Toys R us may have them longer, but they are generally more expensive too.

I bought the recent LEGO X-Wing and my daughter and I built it tonight.  It was really a lot of fun.  The only other LEGO ship I have is Vader's TIE, so I thought it would be fun to set up a Trench Run display.

It's a pretty cool set, you can open the S-foils into the classic attack position by rotating a knob on the back.  I just wish it came with a stand so I could display it that way.

It also includes Luke/R2 and Jek/R5 and extra pieces so you can display it as Red 5 or Red 6.

But I'm concerned I may have opened a large can of worms because I want more!  :D
