Title: Will Madonna ever give it up?
Post by: Jimmy on August 2, 2003, 11:54 AM
I just saw that new GAP commercial w/ her and Missy Elliot... and man oh man...

Does Madonna just need to give it up or what.

I mean she's an ol' skanky hag at this point. What is she 45 now?  :o

Sit down and check the year Mrs. Material Girl... 2003!
LONG gone are the days when you were 23...

Stay home take care of the kids and hubby...
and give it up.

Can you say glamorized white trash?

Yes,  she does need to give it up and move on...  Her time has passed.

I wished that she would have moved on about 10 years ago or so.  But I get easily bored with "music" acts.

Madonna was this posters young boyhood dream girl, later older and wiser I realized her to be the skank she actually is...ick

My wife adores the Material Girl but has listened to the new CD once if that...time to retire

And actually, how many stars actually do just drop out of the limelight and retire, not many...they milk that gig for all its worth

I'd like to nominate Cher to quietly go away first.

There was a time when Madonna actually set trends instead of following them. Glamorizing white trash has been IN since Eminem, Kid Rock, and Martha Stewart came on the scene. For some reason, skank is okay.

This week.

I once wore a Like a Virgin t-shirt to Catholic Sunday school.

Mmmmm. . .  Good times.

The commercial was a bad move, but.... I like her. I always have, and probably always will.

I saw her play in Vegas a couple of years ago. Her stage show is absolutely amazing. She had wire effects, crazy dance stuff, and all sorts of video things going on. She's not the best singer in the world, but she can still sing.

As far as being "over" goes.....Her last album "Music" was one of her best ever. The great thing about her is she changes with the times.

Think about it. When most of us first started listening to her, she was cranking out hits we were too young to understand.....and even though it's been 20 years, she's still there. Still doing it. She's been pretty consistent during my lifetime.

I'd hardly throw her into the Cher category just yet.

But yes, her knew album isn't exactly the greatest. And that commercial is a little silly.

Well just when you think she might go away for good she pops back up with something controversial.  I saw the ad and was thinking unenthusiastically "oh boy it's Madonna...again."  Yeah, she will be around for a long time yet.  She has done incredibly well.  I can see why people really like her.  For me I'm just tired of her.  But like I said I get bored easily with celebrities.  I don't think it's really so much Madonna herself but the media attention that goes on around her.

For instance whenever a new Madonna song comes out all of her previous hits are on the radio rotation as well.   Whether it's Material Girl or that James Bond theme song and everything in between.  It just rubs me wrong.

Madonna was ggod in her "time"...
I am sorry to say but I think that time is over.
Granted yes she does change like a chameleon when needed but... aside from that she's well... IMHO tired.

She's how old now? 45-ish if not close

She still thinks she's 23... I think it's great to have a young mindset and party for as long as you can... I don't think life ends at 30 nor 40. I do however believe that after a certain age one should hold themselves up to a higher level than when we were 23...

She's a mom... a wife... I mean if nothing else have respect for yourself.

Has anyone at all seen Madonna when she's not plastered w/ makeup? Granted many people and celebs look a bit "different" but Madonna honestly looks like a hag. There was a pic caught by someone when Swept Away was filming that showed a tired *** wrinkly skanky looking Madonna.

She's one of the many that I believe need to just end it.
Music celebs though just can't let go...

Rush Limbaugh said it best during today's show:

"Madonna, the glimmering jewel of colossal ignorance, is somehow treated by the Press as some sort of oracle that we all ought to stop and listen to, as though we'd learn something."

I don't want to get into any political discussions on this website, but she really sounded like an idiot when she spoke out on her latest political topic.

If you wanna know more, there's google.

I can't decide if I like Rush or not, but I love his show. Is that weird?  :-\

I will agree that Madonna had her "skank" years... but when you think of the word, you probably think of certain younger singers who may have one time decided to let Rolling Stone disclose everywhere they are pierved.

I think she has kept her looks pretty well for her age.  I'd hit it.

Hold up the mirror, Rush.

Poor thing, she doesn't know what to do with herself. It's hard to sit and watch oneself become completely irrelevant.
