Title: Defender Wishlists 2012 Discussion
Post by: Scott on January 30, 2012, 05:08 PM
Hey all...Toy Fair is right around the corner and with it (hopefully) a new round of confirmations.  I have started updating my spreadsheet today and we'll kick off voting in a couple of weeks.

I have all of our votes back to 2004...want to hear something cool (I'll use 2005 in this since we didn't vote for ROTS in 2004)

2005 Votes

TPM
Unique Characters Voted For  46
Number Made since 2004 24
% Made =  52%
Top Ten Made = 8/10 (Tey How and Kitster/Wald)

AOTC
Unique Characters Voted For  25
Number Made since 2004 11
% Made =  44%
Top Ten Made = 6/10 (Cliegg Lars, Jocasta Nu, Padme Rainbow Gown and Toonbuck Toora)

ROTS
Unique Characters Voted For  40
Number Made since 2004 30
% Made =  75%
Top Ten Made = 9/10 (Padme Buns)

ANH
Unique Characters Voted For  47
Number Made since 2004 36
% Made =  77%
Top Ten Made = 9/10 (Tonnika Sisters)

ESB
Unique Characters Voted For  39
Number Made since 2004 32
% Made =  82%
Top Ten Made = 9/10 (Torryn Farr)

ROTJ
Unique Characters Voted For  43
Number Made since 2004 35
% Made =  81%
Top Ten Made = 8/10 (Sgt Doallyn and Sim Aloo)

Some of those OT numbers are absolutely shocking...8 out of 10 of everyones list has been made in some shape or form since then.  So, for a long time, they have been really listening to what we want.

Another thing I noticed...this last year  has been the first year where there has not been lots and lots of stuff taken off the list.  In fact, with the recent confirmation of the Vintage Nikto, outside of TPM where we got lots and lots and lots of stuff there were 0 confirmations of any other Top 10 vote getters. That is really sad and really telling of where things are at...hopefully Toyfiar brings us something to wish for anew, otherwise this might be a boring year of wishlists :-\

It's kind of clearly at a point where, what one wishes for is getting difficult.  It's branching out into obscurity and stuff...  I'm really down to more resculpts than new I know, and less PT than ever and more OT than ever.  Or EU.

Just looking through my own votes from last year, I got a few figures from my own wishlists confirmed:

EPISODE I:  3/10
1 - Queen Amidala - Post Senate
3 - Naboo Royal Guard
9 - Mawhonic

EPISODE II:  0/10

CLONE WARS:  3/10
Seperatist Spider Assassin Droid
Chewbacca
Even Piell

EPISODE III:  0/10

EPISODE IV:  0/10

EPISODE V:  0/10

EPISODE VI:  0/10

EXPANDED UNIVERSE:  0/10

So I did well on Episode I & Clone Wars, but got a big goose egg on everything else.  ::)

Yeah, we've sort of discussed it on here before, but we're really reaching the bottom for a lot of the choices anymore.  I'm sort of like Jesse, where I'm more up for resculpts in many cases - and finishing out the whole "modern versions of the vintage lineup" thing.  I'm always up for new characters as well, but tend to lean more towards the OT now as well.  For all the complaints the line gets from time to time, when you step back to look at it, we've really gotten a heck of a lot of characters (many that I wouldn't have dreamed we would get) throughout the course of the line.  I know I have to often look at a number of other people's lists to remember all the options left, otherwise I don't think I could come up with 10 from each movie.

I can't honestly think of a new PT character I'd care about, at all.  Not one.

I can think of some obscure background stuff from Jabba's palace or the Cantina, some "troopers" like the Echo Base Technians/Taun Taun wranlgers, or whatnot...  But yeah, I'm kind of figured out.  Truly "new" is not easy to come up with now.

only 3 more of Episode 1 on my list Padme (Handmaiden), R5-X2, Trade Federation PK Droids   :)

I am still in the process of convincing myself that I am OT only but I'd still like to see a Cliegg Lars and Palpatine Office Duel but there really isn't much else...

OT wise I'd love the three or four Vintage updates and a complete Jabba and Cantina scene.  One thing I've been thinking of is why there never was a SW club like Joe  has...perfect for figs like Fozec, Garouf and Yerka Mig

episode 1, we really need new sculpts for Panaka and Jar Jar.  Last I knew we will be getting a Vintage version of Jar Jar this year.  Otherwise AOTC I can't think of anything I would need/love to have.  ROTS, get me a Merumeru and new Tarful and I would be happy.

As for OT?  I would take anything Ewok or Jabba related Hasbro will throw at me.  TV Movie Ewoks would be awesome too.  Where is Chukha Trok?!?!?

Where is Chukha Trok?!?!?

I really hope they found a home for the Ewok Multi-Pack(s) they have hinted at for a few years...Kneesa, Lumat, Chukha Trok, Wompus etc, and they announce it at Toy Fair

I'm not OT only yet Scott, but I'm definnitely down to resculpt only on the PT.  Office Duel Palpy would be up there for me too, probably #1 PT figure I want.

Yes the ones in the battlepack are just repaints. The Anakin in MH line is new but it actually has less articulation than the last one we got in 2000.

That's what I thought. Until Ani gets articulation and 3PO is a BADish version, they stay on my list.

Because they've always been listed that way...because they could come in something like a Battle Pack...because I'd rather they don't take up two spots

I broke them out separately on my list this year simply because I was too lazy and didn't want to try to think up another TPM character I wanted in that spot... :P

Pod pilot w/Pit Droid happened, and that's basically a 2-pack, so they're able to do it if they want I think.  I'll stick with a 2-pack then.  As individuals they'd be tough pills to swallow.

I'd like to see SA versions of Senator Palpatine, Nute Gunray and Rune Haako. Padme Naberrie and Queen Amidala as seen during the first wave back in 99. Oh and either re-release Sio Bibble if nothing else or re-do him with SA. I mean come on, they remade Ric Olie??

The choices for TPM are really starting to dwindle outside of Mos Espa and the Pod Race.  But seeing how we've been living with TPM for 13 years now you had to expect that Hasbro would exhaust a lot of the character choices.  I really had to search for some interesting choices for my own list.

Still there are some characters that I think would be good honorable mentions:
-Ebe Endicott
-Ark "Bumpy" Roose
-Nobot
-Eeth Koth resculpt
-Depa Billaba resculpt

Really the only thing I'd probably buy at this point from TPM would be more figures like Rum Sleg. Watching TPM 3D I noticed a lot of background figures that would look good in an OT themed Mos Eisely display as well.
Title: Re: Defender Wishlists 2012 Discussion
Post by: Jesse James on February 27, 2012, 01:59 AM
Yeah...  I'd dig seeing Jabba's Barada type guard with the big assed rifle.  That guy is really needing made and my first "background" type guy in this film that needs a figure.  Then his droid would be a nice thing to finally get too, besides the RC one.  RC is cool, but I want the proper sized one that can just stand there and look awesome.

I am fairly ok with the handmaiden we got back in 2004-ish or whenever that thing came out.  I'd be ok with an SA one with softgoods, but at the same time I really feel their purple battle outfits are far more important than the hippie robes they wore for what seemed like a short time and insanely boring scenes.

And man oh man...  I could see Bibble maybe make it into a multi-pack or something, but I'd really hate to see them ever waste money on new tools of figures like Senator Palps or BibbleDizzle.  I know they can be made to look better, and I'm the last guy to poo poo articulation upgrades on figures 10+ years old, but those two are SO boring.  Ric Olie?  Dull maybe, but he's basically a headswap with a figure that sells well, and he actually is involved in the "action" taking place in the film.  With that in mind I think he's far superior to Palps in the Senate and Bibble standing around being bearded.

I'm all for a re-release of the original in a pack with (if they were to redo Padme in the purple outfit with some good articulation) some head variant purple battle outfit handmaidens or some head variant Naboo Guards, Troopers, Ground Crew, or whatever.

Of course that would mean a multi-pack of figures worth buying I guess...  definitely not likely in the Battlepack realm anytime soon.

Jabba's guard is named Chokk.

If they do ever remake Senator Palpatine they should include the robe he wore in the senate. Amidala too.

Man, that AOTC wave last year, and which is now widely available at 5 Below for (drum roll) $5 a pop, has me really scratchin' my head on this one this year.

Outlander Ani/Padme, Zam...  These were the kind of things I really had the most desire to see.

Am I the only one interested in a Dexter Jetster resculpt now, maybe?  Tons of arms = tons of articulation possibilities.  Would love the deleted pipe. :P

Yeah, AOTC doe not have much I want other than Jedi, it was tough. I went for Saesee, Luminara, Plo Koon and some others as I want them to have the Kit Fisto treatment. There are some other resculpts but there is nothing from that film that "I must have". I can think of TPM Jedi that I really want than AOTC and ROTS!

Cliegg is really the only thing I really want...if they don't make him for the AOTC launch there will be hell to pay

Outside of that I really don't see them delving too deep into the list here next year, I expect lots of Jango and Yoda and some rereleases of the really nice sculpts they already have out there (Ani, Obi, Mace, Dooku, SBD)  Maybe some new separatists and a new Arena Padme would be cool

I'm cool with resculpts of Coleman Trebor and Pablo Jill and agree with JACK on seeing some other Jedi too...

Maybe it's me but I am still happy with the 2004 version of Coleman. Don't get me wrong I think he would be sweet SA upgraded but I really want to see a new Plo and Saesee first. But it seems that a legless old dude and an old hag librarian are ruling the fan request lists. It's pretty funny when you think about it, out of the thousands of characters the spaced aged senior citizens are winning.

Coming in 2013:
Discover the EP2 Elderly #1: Cleigg Larrs with spring loaded hand shaking action and light up hover Lark with exciting Cleigg catch phrases!!!

Discover the EP2 Elderly #2:  Jocasta Nu with real rubbery skin and brittle bone breaking joint action!

Yeah, Trebor's off my list at this point...  I liked the Geonosis Arena one, so much I bought a couple of it for customs.  That one was fine by me.  It lacks some "skirt" parts I think but I can add them with cloth scraps I think.

The Pablo Jill look-a-like is never going to make my list other than as Pablo Jill in AOTC. :P  If they redo him, I'm sure he'll be so nice ya buy him twice.

Some geek did a story once a long time ago about Missing Padme's

http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=4103.0

Here is still what is left from said report:

Senator Padme

(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/3-04/senatoramidalasm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?/news/images/3-04/senatoramidala.jpg)
Minutes after almost being assinated, Padme appears in the Senate to the shock of many who though she was dead.  She also wears this gown to Palpatine's office in the next scene accompanied by the Jedi and various Senators.  I'll state right off that with Hasbro focusing on the OTC and the fact that only a couple of Episode I Padme's have been rumored, Episode II Padme figures all seem like long shots for the time being.

Packing For Home Padme

(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/3-04/packingpadmesm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?/news/images/3-04/packingpadme.jpg)

The Chancellor feels that Padme would be safer on Naboo and it is up to Young Padawan Skywalker to be her protector.  She is none too happy about this and is seen hurrying about her apartment in this gown.  This one is a real long shot, as the scene is not that exciting.

Naboo Retreat Padme

 (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/3-04/padmeretreatsm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?/news/images/3-04/padmeretreat.jpg)

Anakin and Padme hide on Naboo in the Lake Country.  Alone...what do two young people without supervision on some backwater planet in a breathtaking vista do?  They fall in love!  This is one of my personal favorite gowns worn by Padme, lets hope it gets made soon.

Padme Picnic Gown

 (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/3-04/padmepicnicsm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?/news/images/3-04/padmepicnic.jpg)

Padme and Anakin have a nice little picnic in the hills of Naboo amoung the Waterfalls and pus filled herbivores. In a scene straight out of the Sound of Music, Padme runs through the tall grass in this beautiful dress.  Another one I hope they make.

Nightdress Padme

(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/4-04/nightdresspadmesm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?/news/images/4-04/nightdresspadme.jpg)

Who knew that we would see someone's Pajamas not once but twice in this movie.  Padme wears her Nightdress on Coruscant and back on Naboo where she learns that Anakin senses that his Mother is in grave danger.  A two for one shot type of figure (much like the Tatooine Padme) it could happen but women figures in their PJ's probably doesn't make for a good toy.

Tatooine (II) Padme

(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/4-04/padmetatooinesm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?/news/images/4-04/padmetatooine.jpg)

With Anakin away searching for the Tuskens who kidnapped his mother, Padme puts on this comfy dress and settles in with the Lars family.  She then consoles Anakin in the Lars Garage with some Blue Milk and Cookies.  One of the neater dresses from AOTC, since they have done one Tatooine Padme in recent months, I doubt we'll see another for some time.

Cut Scene Padme

(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/4-04/padmecutscenesm.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?/news/images/4-04/padmecutscene.jpg)

One scene that was cut from AOTC and later appeared on the DVD was Padme and Ani meeting Padme's family on Naboo.  This would be an EU figure but its close enough that we'll list it here!  One in a million chance this one would ever happen

I am so sick of Padme. :)

Seriously, there's something about her figures that's compelling to own them, but at the same time they sting to plunk down the kind of money you have to for them when they're almost always a salt shaker.

Padme in her nightgown from ROTS is a crap figure though.  That one needs redone.

Same here.  I used the same list as last year, but there just isn't much left that is all that interesting to me.  I mean, I'd take pretty much any of the figures people mention on their lists - but the AOTC wave from TVC really covered much of my want list.  I'd like to see a new Boba, and more Padmes are always welcome (as well as Cliegg), but outside of that I think we're set pretty well.

I changed my AOTC list a little from last year.  Apparently nobody but me wanted the giant flying droid from the Geonosian factory.  As for Padme?  She's certainly got her fans here, but I can't really get on board to the same degree.  I can only abide putting a single Padme on my own wish list, and I chose a Senate version.

I've never quite understood the passion for Jocasta Nu, but is she actually a Jedi?  I have a Jedi collection display, so I'd add her to the list, only because she fits into that display.

Pardon the stupid question.

For me, Jocasta Nu deserves a figure because she's a character with dialogue.

I like to stick with new figures and Cliegg and Picnic and Lakeside Padme are musts for me. I'd be in for some new Jedi as well. I do think there are a lot of figures that need revisited, too, like Lil Fett, Clone Trainees, Lama Su and Taun We, some of the Separatists, etc.

Yeah, she's the Jedi that helps Obi-Wan in the library (thus she's the librarian) find his lost planet in the archives.

Then Obi-Wan goes to Yoda about the missing planet, a kid says someone deleted it, and somehow that's supposed to be awe-inspiring. I found it funny at the time that Jocasta Nu didn't just say it was possible when clearly it was.

I just think that goes with Yoda's say that the Jedi are often arrogant, and Nu confirms this by saying the Jedi archives are complete, etc.

Something interesting I noticed about the wishlists for AOTC...  I'd be pretty into a LOT of what the people are asking for, despite it not jiving with my list.  Jocasta Nu is about the only one I'm vehemently against, and even that is more out of principle than me just not actually wanting her in my collection. :)

I just started on the show from season one. Just starting season two. Although the toys are pretty sharp, I will never pick them up outside  a ship here and there that I can re-paint and fit into my OT universe.

A general note about the vintage line, it's weird how things are going with it. It feels like they started the line for people like me who are cutting back to get us back into the game, yet, somehow, someone, be it Hasbro or the retailers, are making production decisions that are making figures harder to get than ever.

Yeah, I don't pick any CW figures up for the most part. I picked up the Bounty Hunters (Bane, Seripas, and Embo) because they look realistic enough to fit in with the rest of the bounty hunters.

ROTS is always tough because it is the most complete set of figures there is and outside of Padme and maybe the Separatists...yawn

I've started drinking the clone resculpt kool-aid...  Jesse made some good points on Bly.

Doesn't anything with a softgoods Kama update seem like a good one then though?  That's a big reason I'd like a Bacara resculpt or Bly (and I'd really REALLY dig the removable bucket for the Clone Wars Bly look)...

I added Bly to my list this year, and I'll probably add Bacara next time around.  I'd also really like to see them take another stab at the AT-TE gunner.  That was a great design with the separate helmet piece, but that sculpt is lame by today's standards.    Same thing with the buzz droids.  Fun little droids that I'd love to see get an update and it'd be a bonus if they could actually get them to fold up/transform into a ball.

For me, Fordo set a new bar...

cloth kama, early/late war helmets, unique headsculpt based on something or other...

That's what makes me want resculpts of some of those unique Commanders.  I think it would make for a neat Bly that looks both realistic, but also pays homage to the cartoon's look for him with the funky hair...  Gree too, would be a happy resculpt for me.  They've never made the guy's suspenders even. They just do that ****** paintjob and leave it.

I'm ok with resculpts if they're a significant improvement...  Those are significant improvements to me that also knock out a CW version at the same time.  I'm into that.

I think a slighter wookiee warrior wouldn't be a bad thing either.  Everyone lists merumeru and he's cool, but the 2nd Wookiee Warrior they made was a POS.  They can do better, as evidenced by the preview warrior which was outstanding.

Just got a chance to check out the CW list today, really a nice group of characters overall.  I'd buy every one of those.  If the CW stuff is coming to an end somewhat soon, it would be nice if they did a couple of "final waves" wrapping up figures like this.  I remember Mattel did something like that with the JLU line, with a combination of the last packs and exclusives covering some of the undone figures from that show.  Anyways, very nice list.  Agreed on ROTS, kind of boring for the most part with so much being covered already.

I am with JJ on updated commanders and Wookies. I have been converting my entire Clone Army to the VC45 style sculpt. I am currently working on 501's and the upcoming Shocktrooper as I dump ALL of my old ones including the Commanders. I reallly want to see the Star Corps, 442nd's and Utapaus Clones redone as well.

Wookies had a good run for awhile but they have been ignored for far too long. The sneak Preview wookie was great and holds up well still. I have every variation and it's time to give that buck another run with new arms and a head. The action wookie is total crap. I have 3 of them (1 of every deco) I would like to phase them out soon. Also poor Tarful needs a serious redo.
Title: Re: Defender Wishlists 2012 Discussion
Post by: Nicklab on June 19, 2012, 03:15 PM
I definitely agree on Tarfful.  That figure was OKAY for 2005.  But compared with the Sneak Preview Wookiee, it fell a little bit short.  And while the Wookiee that I voted for was Merumeru on my own list, I could totally get behind a Tarfful resculpt.

As for the Clone Commanders?  Softgoods kamas and super articulation combined with removable helmets would be pretty nice.  But they're lower on my priority list.  Ultimately, I'd rather get some never before made characters, or some of the varying looks for Palpatine.

I with you there, Cantina Patrons and Jabba goons that have never been made or resculpts are the highest on my list. Clones/Commanders redo's are side dishes.

ROTS still going on (hurry up folks, vote) and ANH posted...

ANH is trickier for me, but I think there's a vast depth of figures (new and resculpts) left here.

I think Removable Arm 3PO could be redone, chromed Death Star/Sand Crawler Droid, Antilles resculpt, various Imp Officers from Briefing could be redone, Bast with more articulation and a hat, Imperial Security Bureau (black pants light grey/white top, black kepi hat), Yavin Communications officer (has a unique uniform actually, look at it.  He's wearing a collared shirt like a RFT but it's light grey like the technicians), various pilots including a generic blue emblem one, some droids I feel sure, the Death Squad Commander and Blue Gonk, Cantina Aliens, Human Goons and Cantina patrons, redone Cantina band...

And am I the only one who would be interested in what an absolutely ultimate super duper ANH Han Solo could look like?  Total ground-up resculpt?

Light-up eyes Jawas?

I'm into what could happen with the ANH lists.

This is actually one that I like. Before, they were saying that Solomahal was both a HS and ANH character. But they look nothing alike. So they should be different characters. And since Solomahal is more widely shown as the HS character (the images above for example) keeping him as that one and giving the ANH one a new name was the right thing to do.

Unlike what happened with Zutton. He was in the same situation, both HS and ANH characters that looked nothing alike. But they went and gave the HS character a new name (Rachalt Hyst) despite almost all images and merchandize of Zutton being the HS character.

Preview night at SDCC is just a week away, and I noticed that we're still in the ANH poll.  Am I correct in guessing that the wishlist results are going to be presented to Hasbro at Celebration 6?

Also, now that Pops is officially on the way, I think I have to figure out what figure campaign to get behind.  Right now, I'm leaning towards Ven Zallow, from the "Deceived" trailer for STAR WARS - THE OLD REPUBLIC.  Darth Malgus seems to have captured people's attention for the time being.  So why not the Jedi that he dueled in the trailer that really brought him to light?

From the front page posts - "Results will again be hand delivered to Hasbro at C6, so let the fun continue!"

We decided to wait for C6 in case anything is revealed at SDCC, the lists can be updated for at least that...

I'm definitely interested, too.  Although I'm not too enthused if one of the AOTC runners-up was a Neimoidian (Gilramos Libkath).  We've just seen a terrible track record of Neimoidians pegwarming at retail over the years.  Part of me was happy to see that Daultay Dofine got made, but I was equally concerned that he would be a pegwarmer.

Funny you mention Daultay Dofine too Nick, as I was just thinking about him the other day...  I see him from time to time still, but he shipped in ONE case...  Of the E1 figures, he was definitely among the lower production runs I'd think.  Still easily found though by me.

I'm good on him too Scott...  I didn't really want a holo version, as, at this point in the line and it's pricing, I'm pretty heavily against holographic figures.  Price kills those "cheapies" for me.

I wanted a non-holo from the get-go of Pablo or his twin.

Also Kcaj is wearing a dark undershirt.

The purist in me wants two seperate figures.  I have a stronger recollection of seeing the hologram of Coleman Kcaj, but apparently there is a shot of him within the Council chambers.  But the realist in me says that the likelihood of us getting two distinct Ongree Jedi is kind of slim.

Agreed.  All of the issues surrounding Eeth Koth / Agen Kolar and Adi Gallia / Stass Allie were pretty ridiculous.

Also Kcaj is wearing a dark undershirt.

Or Jill changed shirts in 3 years.  :-X

PT Jedi are indeed a mess...  cluster-f from start to finish.  I would be quite content with one and done here.  I see honestly no discernable difference in those pictures.  It's like Kithaba and Barada...  If these guys were not wearing different clothes you'd think they're the same guy.  Since the Jedi pretty much are, I'm fine with this.

Yeah, but aside from the lousy Sam Jackson stand in, the Jedi continuity is all the fault of fans who have no imagination.  The way I remember it was that fans noticed that the exact same actors/actresses had not played the same character (defined by costume) and started whining.  For instance, Adi Gallia (sp?) was in TPM, then another actress whole looked almost the same played her in AOTC.  But since it wasn't the same actress, people started complaining.

It this sort of tight ass rigidity that I dislike in many fans.  They would rather have continuity, as opposed to, say an actress who is better with a lightsaber than the previous one who played they same roll.
Title: Re: Defender Wishlists 2012 Discussion
Post by: Pete_Fett on July 18, 2012, 08:50 AM
The continuity is indeed a mess. With Eeth Koth/Agen Kolar and Stass Allie/Adi Gallia it was just a simple matter of having British extras for TPM and then hiring similar-looking but of course, not exact Australian extras for AOTC which was a cheaper alternative than flying someone from the UK and probably having to pay them more $$$ just to be a glorified extra.

With Pablo Jill/Coleman Kcaj - the problem as I always understood it was that the books folks essentially killed off Jill in Labyrinth of Evil - the prequel book to EP3 and yet there was the exact same computer model sitting in a Jedi Council seat. Whoops! What to do? Give this guy a different name, lame back story and you're good to go!

*sigh*

I know it was over in the Clone Wars threads - but considering the Star Wars saga is always criticized for having characters that exist solely for the production of action figures, funny thing here is that Lucas WAS trying to maintain some level of consistency and familiarity with Jedi seen in the council when instead he could have just as easily, made up new designs/names/etc... and made it so that the Jedi Council in TPM looked nothing like the Jedi Council in AOTC except for the presence of Mace and Yoda - ten years had passed afterall, and it would mean the potential for 10 entirely new Jedi action figures for each of the three prequel trilogy movies - especially since you could always justify changes in the Jedi Council between AOTC and ROTS as changes due to the Jedi dying.

Since the movies don't challenge it, I'm just going to say that Adi Gallia, Eeth Koth and Pablo Jill were the same people from start to finish. At least they are in my mind.

The four figures replacing announced SDCC figures

TPM:  Captain Tarpals replaces R5-X2
AOTC: Boba Fett and Gilramos Libkath replace Pablo Jill and Jocasta Nu (Padme Arena was actually #11)
ROTS: Padme Funeral replaces Coleman Kcaj

Agreed with everyone else about the Jedi ridiculousness in the PT.  I like to think they are the same ones all the way through too, instead of different Jedi that happen to look pretty much exactly the same.  I miss the simpler days, when we could just have Cantina aliens named "Hammerhead" and "Walrusman" and not complain about it, now every little detail/name/etc. has to be revised and set in stone.

I still don't understand how some deformed thug who picks fights in a bar is a doctor...even a mad scientist.

I guess he lost his license being drunk in the afternoon and hanging out with criminals, picking fights with the locals.

Yeah, as much as I call him Dr Evazan, and I've read the story, I like to just think of him as some minor criminal who picks fights. In fact, I've always thought he was outright lying when he said he had the death sentence on twelve systems. He seems like that kind of guy. I think the real badasses would keep that **** quiet.

Interesting voting on the ROTJ list, all 7 of the carry overs look like shoe ins to make the top 10 again.  But looking at last year's list again, #11 and #12 were ERG and Lando Skiff, #14 was Widdle/Oochee.  So really the top 10 is going to look familiar and also have some pretty new deep choices.  Let's just say that SailBarge/Skiff Guards are dominating right now

Also note, this is our 9th year, Mawhonic, Lumat and Jocasta were on every list until now, there are other figures that also hold that distinction, they are:

Tey How
Kitster/Wald
Cliegg Lars
Padme (ROTS Buns)
Toryn Farr
Sgt Doallyn
Sim Aloo

Scockery posted the WEG Imp. Army Trooper in his EU list...  I like the cut of your jib on that one!

It's funny that he is sorta different in the pic though, from the WEG description of him which says they're, more or less, AT-ST DRivers with body armor, helmets, and such.

Their pic shows them to have more like an officer's tunic on, but I attribute that to being an officer instead.  Like a Platoon leader.

that's the only reason I don't put him on my wishlist.  I kind of consider the AT-ST Drivers to fill this void, and I have extra body armor...  I think the AT-ST Driver with an AT-AT Commander Body Armor, and a Sandtrooper Backpack, is the ideal Impy Army trooper though.  :)  Love their idea though, and would love to have a hundred of these guys with a squad of Stormtroopers leading the way ahead of them.

I almost put the Aqua Stormtrooper, but the pictures of those are like Scout Trooper with fins and a scuba tank, not a great design IMHO. And Marvel's weird early aquatrooper take was a stormtrooper with kenner snowtrooper pants.

I don't know if either would ever have a chance of getting made, but then they invented that air stormtrooper for the Star Tours.

Post by: Jesse James on July 26, 2012, 11:10 PM
I thought the air stormtrooper was the one fro TFU?  I could be wrong though.

I'd like the Aqua trooper but only because it's pretty in line with the Aquatic Clones in the Tartakovsky Clone Wars series, which we got a figure of already...  I've actually considered just frankensteining one from various troops actually.  I'm ok with that look though the Scout Visor is kind of odd on any trooper really.  I'd love some kind of aquatic OT era Stormtrooper though...

For that matter, I'd dig an aquatic Rebel but that seems like it'd be a guy in a jumpsuit with a scuba mask, haha.

That should be Hasbro's "peace out" wave...

• Shmi in a bodybag (SA)
• Padme in floating coffin thing
• Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru extra crispy
• the burning TIE pilot from ESB with lightning effects
• Anakin (Darth Vader) in med capsule
• Cliegg Lars

This would be a great time to offer the funeral pyre Vader set as well.

Burning Jawa Corpse?

Screaming falling Emperor with transpart stand so you can have him in falling pose?

Yes...  It's an old scene, nothing new or added in.  I always thought it maybe tied more into the cut stuff with the tank and the wounded guys in the trench and all.  There seemed to be a bit of "Rebels being overrun" that didn't make the final cut.

I always had this feeling that the Imperial Attack Base playset had some kind of origins from that stuff, haha.

One thing I found interesting in the recent EU poll is how much the SOTE sub-line is still on people's minds.  I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who's always been annoyed with the glaring holes left behind from Hasbro's ommissions of Guri, Leebo, Jix, Luke, Coruscant Lando, etc.  I'm guessing since SOTE was more OT based, and such a cross-licensed and massively promoted multi-media event, that particular story line has had a more enduring hold on most collectors, as opposed to the rest of the SW novels and EU over the years (aside from Clone Wars, of course).

I really hope that with Hasbro's newly extended license, and the diminishing movie character selections/re-do's left, that Hasbro will find time to get around to these.  A full wave of them would be ideal, but that's obviously not going to happen since there'd be a pretty limited interest in these relatively unknown characters.  Maybe if that online exclusive wave sells well enough over the next few months, they could do a similar full (online) case of EU figures that may not appeal to the masses/kids at retail as much.  Throw Jaxxon into the mix, and I'll be one happy man!

So I trust Jeff passed along all the TOC results to Hasbro last week at C6.  Did they confirm they'd make them all for JD's fine patrons?
