Title: Star Wars Rebels - Class I Vehicles
Post by: Jesse James on October 12, 2013, 07:08 PM
The Rebels Teaser video has me giddy...  I need that ATPT!

Make some Rebel hover tanks that take forever to kill anything but are well shielded.  :P

Ok so that wasn't an ATPT but very similar.  Say its much larger tho.

I still dig it tho and want it but not Class I...  Should Class I make a comeback. ;)

Based on how much Rebels seems to be borrowing from Kenner (small wing TIE, Troop Transport), wouldn't it be neat to see them use some of the Kenner mini-rigs in the show so that Hasbro could get us updated versions of them in a new Class I type line?

I'd love to see an updated INT-4, AST-5, ISP-6, or MTV-7 make their way into the show...   :D

+1

Those vintage mini-rigs were pretty cool.  But if Hasbro cooked something up in conjunction with the Lucas Animation design people?  Oh, these could be really nice!  I liked some of the Clone Wars mini-rigs, and I think some OT era mini-rigs would be awesome.

I use MLC-3's in my nerdy little Star Wars world...  outdated little infantry support tanks, kinda like the "Bren Carrier" the brits used in World War 2.

Old maybe predating even the Clone Wars, but functional and cheap.

I even take them beat up at toy shows, like $3 a piece, and clean them up, paintjob...

So yeah I'd LOVE to see some mini-rigs pop up just for the hell of it. :)

If the rumor reports and teases are correct, we should have our first Class I Vehicle/Figure set sourced from Star Wars Rebels... don't get too excited, it's just a recycled/repainted Clone Wars Class I vehicle.

I'm still hoping they get around to giving us one of those Imp Speeder Bike/Swoops with the cargo pod trailer thingy they spent so much time stealing in Season 1.

Yeah, but a HARD TO FIND one at least. Make some folks happy.

What is it, seriously? :)

Edit: NM, I see it was the Scout Bomber, good choice.

At least Kanan has a new head sculpt.

I've got to say, I'm a little annoyed by the different head sculpt on Kanan in the Class I vehicle set.  I think the Y-Wing Scout Bomber was one of the cooler offerings at the tail end of the Clone Wars era.  But if we're going to see it reissued, how about some new deco?  Or a different pack-in figure?  And to do Kanan with a headset?  It just comes across a little weak.

This set also hints at something else.  That being that we're probably unlikely to get a Ghost vehicle in the 3.75" line.  If Hasbro is offering up a previously made vehicle with REBELS characters that has had NOTHING AT ALL to do with that TV series?  It makes me think that they feel a need to offer up more vehicles for hero characters in addition to the Phantom.  All told, the Phantom can hold two figures, maybe three.  So where does the rest of the Ghost's crew go?

I believe the Scout Bomber was tweaked in both deco and design this time around. I never opened mine but I heard they addressed that weird gap in the back, or did something to the droid socket.

I agree it doesn't look good for the Ghost right now but man, that would be such a shame. It would be a great addition to the line if done right. Maybe now that they have been confirmed for a Third Season it might make it out of the parking lot next year.

There are still plenty of small ships they need to do, like the Imperial Speeder Bike. It's like they lost their whole budget or something. Disappointing.

IIRC, from the review at Jeditemplearchives says
the droid socket is changed for Chooper (platform for his short legs, guess that means other astromechs won't fit?), the back end is closed, the cockpit inside redesigned, probably to accommodate 5 POA figures.

On principle alone I won't read that review.  The incessant whining and bitching at that site make it impossible to read without being overcome by a strong urge to put my fist through the computer monitor.

My son has this one... The back panel on this ship comes off, and the floor of the droid socket can slip out.  This slip-out is used to raise the floor for Chopper to fit properly.  Removed, standard astromechs sit fine.

Cool.  I guess that means I don't need the TFA repacked Ezra that comes with his lightsaber as I can just wait for this version.

If, and I'm really really hoping here for this...  but if they do an Imperial deco, I will own quite a few!  Love this design, and the toy looks incredibly well detailed with the recessed panel lines, etc.  Very nicely done.

I enjoy a well scaled piece of Imperial (or Rebel stolen) hardware! :)

Would love an imperial version too! Maybe they'll release one later with cargo trailers

Agreed!  I'd love a box or two for them.  not getting my hopes up for that, but would still dig having them.

Someone good at doing 3D stuff should put up on Shapeways one of those hover-cargo dollies that are everywhere in Rebels.  Small and relatively flat, so should be cheap.  That'd be fun to have too.  But that's a tad OT.

Looking at the Ezra pic again, it's nice that they tried to update him somewhat for this release.  New legs (with pouches)... would have been nice to get knees in there, but at least it's something new.

Sure hope deco doesn't suck though as that prototype fig in the loose shot is kinda pale/washed out.  Hope it's just flash effect.

I may not even wait/hope for an Imperial repaint...  May just buy those and repaint.

Awesome, thank for the reference pic Jayson, I am doubly psyched for this one now. Imperial repaints are a must though!

I was looking at some new pics on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010B939Y8/), and I think the lightsaber blade is removable so you can hang Ezra's hilt on the hook on his right leg.

+1 Hasbro

EDIT:
Also, it looks like foot pedals and handlebar can be slid forward and back (via rail) to adjust for different height characters.

+1 Hasbro

DO NOT BUY AT THIS PRICE, but I see that the Ezra Bridger Speeder is up on Amazon via a 3rd party seller.

http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Rebels-Speeder-Action/dp/B010B939Y8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1453764017&sr=8-4&keywords=Rebels+Speeder

Some interesting things of note...

-The back of the speeder opens for storage space.  Weird/fun!  Kinda nothing I'd use since that's where the mechanics of it are, but yeah, it's still neat.

-I see a tow-hook on the back!  Could we actually possibly maybe hope/wish for the floating cargo pods at some point?

-Looks like a removable saber blade on Ezra's nerf saber.

Anyway, again I'm excited to add a good, scale, piece of Imperial Hardware to the old Impy shelf again...  even if I must paint it.  I'll probably be tossing Ezra into the fodder pile, but I dig the bike, a lot.  :)  Hasbro put a good deal of effort into it IMO.  Much more than the vehicles for the launch of Rebels and the ones before it.  Blah.

I didn't see your post here and things got merged Jay, but yeah a lotta new on that set to like.

I love the final product and can't wait to pick this up.  Honestly though I hope we get an impy one too, with boxes.  But definitely big ups to Hasbro on the effort here.  You won't read that often in the "news" but it shows Hasbro still make a good product.

I'm not a huge Rebels fan, honestly, but it makes amazing toy fodder!

I saw the Ezra speeder today.  The light saber in the one I saw looked a little flimsy, so I passed.  But I did notice that this version of Ezra has the scars on his face that he's had since late in season one of Rebels.

I picked this up last week and it's a fun toy. Nice detailing and doesn't feel as cheap as some other vehicles. The blade is removable from the hilt, that may have played a part in the flimsiness you saw. The blade and hilt can be stored in the rear compartment where the engine should be.

How much is the speeder in stores?  Amazon has it for $21.99 and I'm wondering how much I'd be overpaying (if at all) if I just ordered one.

$20 at Target.  So only a couple extra bucks to save yourself the headache or driving around town.

Target seems to be a bit of a wasteland the further East you go, haha.  Here they've barely restocked since before Christmas it seems.  They're also never as fast to clearance it seems.

I really do hope to nab a couple Ezra bikes for repaintability.  Want me some Imperial versions.

I found a better sample of the Ezra speeder today and picked it up.  And it was at Target, too.

I opened this up as soon as I got home.  I was very surprised to see that this version of Ezra is very different from previous versions.  It's a new head sculpt. The hair is different from previous releases, and there's the scars, too. Plus the jumpsuit is considerably darker than past releases.  The light saber obviously has the removable blade, and there's a hanger on Ezra's hip for the hilt.

The speeder bike is a little on the simple side, but I kind of like this one.  It gives us a nice variety in the speeder vehicles.

Picked up another Ezra speeder to open...I never bothered to do that with the Scout Bomber but this one seemed like a good candidate and I managed to get it for $15 so why not.

Seems like such a rare treat to see new Rebels stuff too. The show is gonna be over before I ever find old Rex.

Had one of those rare multi-store success stories today...was beyond psyched to find a 5th Brother at one Walmart and then two Rexes at another location.  ;D

Just need one more 5th Brother to open and I am good to go.

Also picked up two of those brand new 5.5" SW figures from Family Dollar. Both Kanans...one to open and one to keep carded. Interesting concept, it's definitely not in scale with the 6" stuff, and it has even less articulation than the 3&3/4" version. (Head, arms, waist, that's it) odd that these haven't popped up anywhere else yet.

Thanks for the heads up on Family Dollar. Not sure I needed it but grabbed a Kanan today. Figured since the Black Series 6" one looks non-animated this would be my animated 6" version
