Walgreens exclusive Boba Fett? Walgreens? That's a new one.
http://jediinsider.com/index.php?catid=8&itemid=15546
-
Saw that on SWAN. I'm thinking that this version is going to be Boba Fett in ROTJ deco.
-
This might actually work for me... There are about 85 Walgreens stores around here.

I'd prefer a Vintage Kenner deco myself
-
Or they could go Holiday Special or the prototype armor.
So many ways to milk that one...
-
Just heard about this today...it does seem like a stretch for them but I guess they are getting an exclusive 6" Venom figure too from the Marvel Legends line, so maybe it does fit.
Fine with me...I've never had a problem tracking down any of their WD exclusives, there are tons of them around here.
I'd love the vintage Kenner or Holiday Special deco, although the Prototype or ROTJ versions could be cool too.
Smart exclusive if true, it's basically a license to print money.
-
Can't say I've ever seen a cheap (or simply normal priced) figure in a pharmacy, sooooooo.... Yeah, careful what you wish for mayb? :-\
-
Actually, their WD figures are priced cheaper than anywhere else you can find them, such as Gamestop or TRU. They're usually around $13.99 versus $15.99 at the other places. So that at least is encouraging.
Plus didn't the screen shot already show this is going to be priced $19.99?
-

I ran into a 2012 Legends Qui-Gon a few months ago in a Walgreens. It was $15.99

$15.99?!? That's Rite Aid pricing by me. Walgreens is the cheapest of the drug stores in my area.
-
I'm in Downtown Chicago so it might be higher than other places, but yes. Also the sales tax in the Loop is 12% - so you're looking at nearly $18 for that Qui-Gon.

6" Proto Fett revealed (http://www.starwars.com/news/prototype-boba-fett-black-series-figure-exclusive-reveal)
-
The prototype armor makes sense for this kind of exclusive. I think the ROTJ armor might be better suited to some sort of a multipack.
-
That Fett looks great! I love the 4" version of the concept design, and I'll be happy to add the 6" incarnation to my collection.

ROTJ Fett with a repacked Jabba and Slave Leia would make a slick SDCC Exclusive for TRU next year. On a more serious note, are there major differences between the ESB and ROTJ Boba Fett costumes that would require new parts? I know the Fett got different 4" molds for ESB and ROTJ, but I never looked too closely for major differences in the outfits.
-
Fett is a license to print money for them in any scale. Love the proto armor though. Have a ton of him in the 4" scale and love him. Loved the McQ/Johnston proto armor one too.
-
The only difference I know of between ESB and RotJ Fett are the colors on the gauntlets. In Jedi one is red instead of the green/blue color. There are probably more though.
-
That "Hasbro beauty pic" is amazing. The deco is phenomenal--and that's saying something on a white-on-white costume.
This is the first 6" to tempt me, I can't wait to see what the production pieces look like.
-
Yeah, it should come out nice. I guess this was probably farther down my list than some of the other options but I'll definitely be picking one up. I hope this does very well for Walgreen's and we see more stuff like this in the future. I know exclusives can be a drag, but it's also a good avenue to release some interesting repaints or kitbashes that might otherwise never get produced.
-
If Walgreen's pricing is like everywhere else, I'm all for it... I find it sort of odd, but I'm all for it. There's like a billion Walgreen's stores around me (and seemingly everyone else), so it seems like finding what you want shouldn't be too hard anyway. Unless each store gets like one guy (queue the sinister Hasbro giggling).

They have it at $19.99, hopefully it holds out there.
-
I meant in general, I wouldn't mind seeing more of that simply because Walgreens are everywhere... That'd be good for us, haha. Buuuuutttttttttt, I can't say I have a lot of positive hope that this will hold at $19.99. Just seems too good to be true.
The more 6" does stuff like this though? The more I see 4" going the way of the dinosaur, in terms of collector-focused figures. I feel like what we're seeing is the death throws of a smaller collector line. Think Hasbro wants to go all 6", start fresh, keep 4" a kid-focused line with MS/Legends.
This Fett feels like a blow to 4" TBS in some capacity... it's sort of irrational because there's no real evidence, just smells like that may be around the corner to me.
-
So...this is coming in a special assortment with Darth Vader, Jedi Luke, the Black Pauldron Stormtrooper and the Stormtrooper? (as per JediInsider)
Interesting if true. This sounds a lot like that online case assortment that was recently "cancelled".
If these are supposed to hit in the next month or so though, that sure doesn't seem to leave much time or space for the Clone Trooper/Anakin wave.
-
That dents the, "this may be easy to get" theory.
-
That cancelled online case had 3x Fetts and eight figures total. Hopefully that ratio will be what arrives at Walgreens and each store will get at least one case.
-
Seeing as how there's a Walgreen's 5 minutes away from every other Walgreen's, I'm hoping this guy will be super easy to track down. I wish they were just getting cases full of Fett though. That other stuff will clog their pegs fast.
-
I've hit up random Walgreens around town over the past few weeks for random stuff and each time I hit the toy section just because... I know there are a gazillion Walgreens on every corner but I have no idea how this is even going to work because Walgreens' toy aisle is pitiful at best.
-
I believe I heard the SW figures are going to be in its own cardboard display. Correct me if I'm wrong, if someone knows differently.
-
I find it interesting that Walgreens in the US is also going to carry a Doctor Who 3.75 inch figure as well in the coming months. It'll be curious to see how this exclusive thing works out for them over all.
-
Not sure if this has been posted in here yet... just saw it as I was catching up on some stuff from last week - boxed photo and listing at Walgreens.com (http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/star-wars-boba-fett-figure/ID=prod6258401-product):

According to Walgreens, this is due to arrive 9/2.
I predict this will be the next new 6" figure anyone finds in a store. Which means we will be getting Vader, Jedi Luke, and the Black Pauldron Sandtrooper before Anakin and the Clone Trooper, which should have been out months ago. ::)

I'm actually okay with that. The sooner we get Vader the better!

Up for preorder on Walgreens site

10/15?!?! Yikes, that is a lot later than first anticipated.
I see a lot of guys over at RS jumping on pre-orders, but we have like 150 Walgreen's in this town and I just don't see this being that hard to find.
Nice to have confirmation on the $19.99 price tag though.

That just maybe when online orders are fulfilled. They'll probably be in store before that.
-
I went ahead and preordered just in case.... if I find one in a store, I'll just cancel it.
-
Well crap.
-
I have to think that the pre-orders were part of a formula for Walgreens to determine demand. Since these sold out in a single day, perhaps Walgreens will be prepared to increase the size of their order.
-
It has hit (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2014/08/29/prototype-fett-et-al-hitting-walgreens/)
-
Well, damn, Too late to go back out now. Guess I know what im doing tomorrow though. ;D
-
I was 0-6 this morning at Walgreen's. That's a lot of fail. :(
Troubling thing is I never even saw one Agent Venom figure, and that has supposedly been out for a few weeks now. Even the GoT stuff has been pretty hit or miss here.
-
My closest WG's got none in but the manager said a new shipment will come in two weeks. My wife went to Chula Vista two cites away and asked the manager there, he told her they received three and were taken out of the stock boxes before they had a chance to put them on the shelf.
-
After 3 days I've hit something like twenty different stores and not a single one of them has had ANY of these. But you can find them in Alaska apparently. ::)
I also found you get a wide range of responses when you ask them to check stock on this item via their computer. Sometimes it seems like they can't tell at all, one guys said, yeah we have them and walked me over to the 12" shampoo bottles, and no one yet has been able to figure out how to check stock at other stores electonically, although I have read they should be able to do this.
Frustrating.
-
Speaking of Walgreens horrible customer service and overall computer systems... I ordered one of these guys but have since gotten a new credit card. To get free shipping I had some deodorant tacked onto the order too - that already shipped.
Since part of the order already shipped, the people at their 800 number tell me that there is literally no possible way for them to update the credit card on the order. I'm fully expecting that the one I ordered will never come based on what they told me.
Which is absurd.

A local (not on this board) was told by a manager a reset is coming next week and was invited to the back to go through 12 bins of toys. No dice for him but thought that was neat and probably completely out of the norm for a manager to do.
-
Spoke to a guy today at WG and he told me they are not getting any of the exclusives. Apparently they are a smaller store and don't have the footage in the aisle. It's a newer store as are the rest around me so looks like I'll be hitting store further away.

Keep us updated on the deodorant?
-
Oh, that arrived a few days after I put the order in. It's been great in terms of keeping my armpits from smelling ******. Also, it works well as toothpaste once you mash it up enough to put it on a brush.

Well I don't know about you but the exclusive Mountain Musk Speed Sticks are already shelf-warming at all the Walgreens where I live!
-
Not around here, those are rare. I found a few but I had to drive around to 6 or 7 Walgreens before I finally ran across a stock clerk putting a fresh case out.
-
Stupid Walgreens, if they only knew how to sell hygiene stuff. It's the collectors who should be running those stores because we know what people should smell like.
(By the way, after typing that, the line that collectors know better what people should smell like, literally made myself laugh out loud.) :-X
-
This is NOT A GAME JESSE!
-
I've been checking Walgreens the past few days as well. We have a ton of them in town I know, but I've only hit four or five with no luck. I've seen the Game of Thrones stuff at several, and just found the Agent Venom figure from the Marvel Legends line at one of them this weekend. No Star Wars though, aside from some 20" Darth Maul figures. Are these always showing up in those little sidecap thingys? That's where I've seen the other "collector" figures, at least for the most part.
-

I've seen the Game of Thrones figures on both the sidecap and in the main aisle. Just depends on the store I think.
-
Saw GoT guys in a display but TWD figs were on pegs in the main toy area. Star Wars was minimal and no 6" at all.
-
Got lucky and found this the other day, a staff member was just walking around with it and unsure of what it was.
-
Went looking for these with no luck, but one manager said a lot of people are asking about it.
-

I'd feel a lot better about this if it was "you and I" asking about it and not all the douches with three of these at a time on ebay.
-
Evenflow - where in the country are you located? Has there been any sign of these in the midwest region yet? I'm already tired of hitting up Walgreens stores around the metro
-
I keep checking as well, but no signs here. I have seen the GoT stuff several times and started seeing the Marvel Agent Venom this week. It does seem like Walgreens has been expanding their toy aisle though.
-
Found one of these today at a Walgreens around the corner from my office. Assuming that they'll be canceling my other order because as a company, Walgreens doesn't have a clue, I went ahead and picked it up.
-
I had a fun experience at 3 different Walmarts today trying to track down a Proto Boba and Sandtrooper:
Store #1: Paydirt! They had both figures plus a Chewie. While waiting in line to check out, I notice the Sandtrooper's right arm is completely broken off inside the package. Sheared off right below the shoulder. Unbelievable. A closer inspection of Proto Boba reveals an unsightly silver blob on his visor. Since I have a friend supposedly holding on to an extra Boba for me, I reluctantly leave him and the broken Sandy behind. (I did point out the broken piece to the clerk but fully expect this will show up again)
Store #2: Refuse to send anyone into the back room to even check for me, despite them having two employees just sitting there. Said their Fall reset is a jumble of boxes and they can't be bothered to go digging around for SW toys. Astounding customer service. Didn't even bother to press the issue, although I did note that none of the other stores I had visited had had a problem checking on this for me.
Store #3: Found someone willing to help, they came out with a fresh case - 2 Vaders and a Jedi Luke. Doh. So close!
I'm starting to wonder if Boba will actually be harder to find than I thought. A lot of stores aren't even getting one in their initial allotment of 3 figures. I could see each store getting their 3 and never restocking again after that. (Though that would be crazy the way these things are selling for them)
-
Are you just going to the checkout and asking if someone will check the stockroom for you? I typically only see like one person in the store so figured they wouldn't do that.
-

Usually yeah, unless I see a manager out on the floor somewhere, they are usually the most helpful. If you ask the person up front at the cash register if you can have someone check stock for you on an item, they will generally page someone to come up front to help you.
I've yet to see any actually on a shelf or peg, so I guess they are holding them for some kind of planned reset.
-
I've been checking stores in my area over the past week plus. No sign of Proto-Boba or ANY TBS 6" figures. I get the feeling that these might be creeping out slowly across the country.
-

That's exactly my impression. Of the two close that I hit up, one put out the shelf tags while the other has not. It's also part of their christmas plan I'm told by a manager, so I'm hoping there will be plenty.
-
Still no sign of him in my area. I have a bad feeling about this.
-
I had to stop in this morning to get some Chapstick. There were no Fetts to be found. There must be some sort of clandestine agreement between Walgreens and the local scalper consortium. That's the only possible explanation for them not having any.
-
I've run into a store where the clerk seemed to know what they were and recalled selling several of them over the last week versus other stores that have said," we're resetting the aisle and I'd have to go through 50 tubs in the back to find what you're looking for. Just come back in a few days."
If every store is getting at least 3 Fetts and they're all resetting in the next week or two, I think these will still be easy enough to get. However, if some stores aren't carrying them in the reset or each store is getting a partial case of figures then I'm a lot more worried about the scalping. I can probably find 10 stores in close proximity. If they all get Fett, I'm just trying to get 1 of 30 possible figures. If they get partial cases with just 2-3 total figures per store, there may only be 3-4 stores where he actually exists and if they only get 1 or 2, I'm liking my odds a lot less.
-
I definitely think for the first go-round at least stores are only getting 3 random figures, and Fett is not a given. I've seen fewer stores with him than without. I did ask a manager at a store that had already sold through their allotment if they would be getting more and he seemed sure that they would be.
-
I hope you are right. I have zero confidence in what any of the Walgreens employees say about anything related to this product.
-
Should be there on Tuesday.
-
Scored Proto Fett this morning after a manager asked if he could help me find anything. They had just one and two Vaders.
-
Checked the Walgreens website and they say it's a release date of Nov. 1... so be patient out there. Of course, it also says it's not available in stores, either.

Seems weird if it really had a Nov. 1 release date that people would have been finding them in August.
-
Got mine today.
-

Living in Arizona at the moment.
-
Opened this bad boy up last night and found myself liking it more than I expected. Something about the all-white motif just brings out the sublime brilliance of the sculptural details.
-
My closest store started a waiting list. Management said that there are dozens of names and aren't taking any more. :-\
At least I've been able to score some Doctor Who figs there. :)
-
Yeah, I've actually been surprised at how many different stores have told me "yeah, we've had a lot of calls about those" when I've asked. Some seem annoyed, although others don't seem to mind too much. If there is one thing this "hunt for Fett" has made me realize, I don't think I like "the hunt" anymore. It may just be the store(s) and the situation, but driving around to multiple Walgreens the last couple weeks has just seemed like a big time suck ;). I've used the Fett finder feature on Walgreens.com, and it seems pretty accurate for the most part. It seems to show "in stock" if they have any 6" series at all (not just Fett), and goes out of stock the same day if sold out. I did run into one store who when I told them their website said they had them in stock, said they had a Fett, but it was being held for someone who called in....for three days now. Oh well. I have found a Vader and a Luke, so it was nice to not come home completely empty handed from these multiple trips, but I think I'm about done running to stores outside of the ones closest to our house (or maybe just the one closest).
-
I've been hitting a number of area Walgreens over the past couple of weeks. But the Fett finder on the Walgreens website will be a tremendous help in tracking this down.
-
This past weekend, the Walgreens toy buyer tweeted (https://twitter.com/stevenganne/status/512975096487890944) that solid cases of eight 6" ProtoFetts will hit over 5,000 stores starting in November.
Nice to know that 40k more are on the way for those that are struggling to get one...
-
I tried using that store finder this weekend. I called around to 2 stores that supposedly had stock. After getting passed around to a few different people, I had whoever was on the other end essentially cut me off as I was asking to say they're all gone. I wonder if they've been getting that many calls of if they just aren't used to any questions about their toy dept. I couldn't muster the effort to call any more stores after feeling scolded. Glad to hear there are more figures on the way, but I want a Chewie!
-
Sounds like their buyer cares and was putting forth the effort to get more product. That's pretty cool.
Once my local bud got his I quit looking. I kinda like the idea of Walgreen's being involved since any competition is good, but man I hate exclusives for the most part.
-
I'm thrilled Walgreen's got in the game because otherwise it would be months from now that we'd be seeing these figures. (Our area has never even gotten a single Clone Trooper or Anakin on the pegs.) It was a brilliant move on their part too because they've essentially got five exclusives figures going for them now until other stores catch up. Which will probably be awhile judging by how things are going.
-
The only place I've seen Anakin and the Clone Trooper (along with lots of Fetts and Stormies) was last week in the Paris Disney Store for 25 Euros... too much to be buying them for my taste.
-
Got shipping notification this morning for my preorder.
-
Wow, now that's a delay.
-
Anybody got a sense for how Walgreen's distribution network works and how quickly they restock? I've been watching a local WG that has empty pegs (with 6" shelf tags) for about three weeks. I stop in a couple of times a week and the pegs are always empty. I'm guessing they're just not getting stuff that quickly.
-

Earlier this Fall, the Walgreens toy buyer sent out some tweets that revealed all of their initial stock had been shipped to the stores, but there are another 40k coming to stores in November for re-stocking (see below).

Some Walgreens news from Walgreens Toy Buyer Steve Anne (https://twitter.com/stevenganne):
Oct 23 (https://twitter.com/stevenganne/status/525449386521014274):
Chicago area starting to get some Star Wars Black back in stock. Other areas of the country starting next week.
Oct 25 (https://twitter.com/stevenganne/status/526034319744438273)
Star Wars Black 6" - Wave 5 and Proto Boba Fett hitting our warehouses now. Wave 6 on order and following a couple months after.
-
Like every store in my area, when it comes to Star Wars they don't stock it. The web site says they have the figure but they won't put it on the shelf. There shelves are such a jumbled mess its scary. They already restocked for christmas and they aren't putting anything new out. The employees are completely worthless and won't go in the back to get it.
-
Went searching for these for a while today and of course came up empty. The only Star Wars stuff I saw was the giant Maul figure and some puzzles. One store did have a fresh case of the 3.75 inch Wave 4, but other than that, nothing. I'll have to get one online I guess.
-
Was able to score one of these by sheer luck. Was working in another part of town, walked into the Walgreens there and there was one sitting abandoned in the Halloween isle.
-
If anyone manages to pick up a spare and is willing to ship to the UK I'm interested.
Hate having to pay over the odds for exclusives on eBay. I wish this stuff was released over here too.
Black Series in general isn't easy to get here
-
No luck yet. I've been trying the Fett finder via the Walgreens site, but there's been nothing in any of the stores that have Proto Fett listed as in stock.
-
I grabbed one yesterday morning. I think this will go from hard-to-find to pegwarmer quick. My store had a full case of 8, and I was there at 12 and got the first one. There are many other stores in a 10mi radius, and this was the only one that showed any on the website, so it would have been very easy to get for anyone interested.
-
Yep, these are definitely getting out there again. I couldn't find one on the first go-round (found Chewie, Vader, and Luke though at various times), and my preorder at Walgreens.com didn't seem to work out, but I was able to find one yesterday (and left one behind). I stopped by another store today, and they had 7 on the shelf (and no other figures). I was tempted to grab another one, but thought better of it. I don't need to get in the habit of buying lots of multiples in the 6" line at $20 each, although the rush of actually finding something new made it tempting.
-
I finally found the Prototype Boba Fett. Although I was expecting to see JUST Proto Fetts when I came across my own find. I was very surprised to see that it was the full wave that hit Walgreens stores already. In my prior searches I had already found Vader, Chewbacca and the Sandtrooper. And today I was able to get the Proto Fett as well as Jedi Luke.
-
I finally saw a few of these back on the shelves yesterday as well.
-
Finally snagged a Fett this morning at a ghetto Walgreens near work. The cashier mentioned that there was a guy who came in at least twice a day asking about them, and he would buy the entire stock if they had any. So now I know why it took me forever to find one. :)
-
These are on sale this week at Walgreens for 25% off, so I picked one up at lunch for $15.
-
These are on sale this week at Walgreens for 25% off, so I picked one up at lunch for $15.
And another last night, sale ends this evening I believe.
-
Has anyone got their online order yet? I feel lucky to have snagged one in the store
-
I never saw this figure at Walgreens even during the initial run. They had a spot for it but toys have been rearranged and never put back in their proper place. If they did restock they would have put the fallen toys back in their spot to put this one out. Therefore, Walgreens doesn't seem to restock their toy shelves ever since none of the toys have been moved.
-
I got a shipping notice today, which I'm surprised about since my order is on an old credit card, I guess the bank still takes the number?
I since found one in stores and assuming my order would be scrubbed I bought it - so if anyone needs one and wants to pay cost plus shipping let me know - if not I'm going to try to return it to the store when it gets here.
