Ford's always struck me as a pretty good person, and I hope he's ok.  I imagine at his age, any injury is going to be treated as a critical thing...  Variety says he walked away but was in critical condition.  I'm not sure how to take that report then, as bad or worse than bad.  :-\

CNN I believe is now saying Stable Condition.  That's good if true...  Of course, as with all these stories, ****'s all over the place.

OK, the news CNN posted was from an LA PD Spokeswoman who confirmed the accident victim (presumed to be Ford) was transported in Stable Condition to an area hospital, so that seems to be the final word on that.  Earlier critical conditions may be due to the age of the victim, and precautionary perhaps.

Ford was flying a 2-seater pre-WW2 fighter plane that i believe was a trainer, so he sat in the back to fly it, and it's possible that saved him actually.  The nose is pretty messed up, and I'd imagine anyone in the front seat would've had some serious problems with their legs.  :-\

I was just watching coverage of this.  From what I can gather, it looks like he had engine trouble right after take-off, was trying to return to the runway and just didn't make it back.  Not surprising if it happened at take-off, because you are going to have very limited altitude and airspeed to work with.  Luckily, the golf course was right there.

When I got my PPL, most of the training was covering various types of engine or flight problems.  Losing the engine at take-off is arguably the most dangerous for that type of aircraft because without the engine, it essentially becomes a glider and ny maneuver you do will cost you altitude.

Ford's son is saying "Dad's battered, but ok".

Harrison Ford's radio call for help as plane crashes in California  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ibmjxn0dv6A)

Roughly landed 30 ft from a residential road & house across the street & 200-300 yards from the airport. He did well, wishing him a speedy recovery.   :)

I just watched The Last Crusade yesterday.  That exact quote went through my mind when I was watching the story on the news!  :D

Wow! He flies that thing? He is braver than I thought.

More reports are coming in about the circumstances around his forced landing.  It seems that he glided the plane down onto the golf course rather than making for the Santa Monica airport.  Trying to make for the airport may have led to the plane going down in a residential area, as Ford assessed that he didn't have enough altitude to be able to glide the distance from where he lost power to the runway at the airport.  If that's really the case, that's an incredibly gutsy bit of flying on the part of Harrison Ford!
