Any Thanksgiving disasters?

Everyone knows you should thaw a turkey before cooking, lest you want a "Christmas Vacation" style turkey on your hands. Well, the extreme adverse also holds true.

My grandmother had the turkey at her house (no room here to store it, though we do cook it). So, when did she set it out to thaw? Well over two days early, in a hot basement. So, come Thanksgiving morning, we find out the turkey is completely spoiled.

Funny now, but everyone was kind of pissed. She still insists it clearly must have been spoiled beforehand...  ::)

This isn't really a disaster...but I had to make the whole thanksgiving meal by myself, and it was done about two hours after I had hoped....hehe.  Luckily it was only for my immediate family this year.  >_< I think I'll leave thanksgiving to my mom.

Bump.   ;)

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

My fiancee and I are heading over to her family's house for the usual festivities: Turkey, naps, football, etc.  So what's everyone else doing this year?  Hopefully you aren't having to travel too far, since it looks like many of the airports are already running seriously delayed.  Busiest traffic day of the year is today also.  Fortunately for us, we've just got a quick 20 minute drive to where we're going.

Not much new Star Wars stuff out right now, so I think I'll be laying low on Black Friday, and let the ladies in our family handle all that insanity!

I will be eating dinner with my parents and possibly brothers (dependant on who shows up).  My girlfriend's going to her sister's home so I am off the hook there.  May run down later in the evening to her house when she's back, but that would be the extent of me being out and about.

I'll be manning the guns at JD I guess.   :P  At least for a while.

MMmmmmm Turkey, apple pie, and homemade turkey noodles are what I'm looking forward to.  I was sick yesterday at school but today I'm thinking I'm not too bad.  I just wanna be able to eat tomorrow.

One round of Triptifan (or however it's spelled) for the JD crew on me!

Yeah, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  Travel safe, enjoy your families, and stuff your face something fierce!

And best of luck to Nataku, who's driving 16 hours (and back) to see some of their family.  Yikes!   :o

Heading out to my bro's house tomorrow afternoon for some food and fun. Long trip - about 5 city blocks  ;D Hope I don't get stuck in too much holiday traffic.

Happy Turkey Day to all, and to all a good night. Wait, wrong holiday. Whatever.

Ooooh, I almost forgot - he got a deep fryer a few weeks ago, and we're going to deep fry a turkey for tomorrow. From what I've heard, it's delicious, and cooks in a fraction of the time it would take to cook in the oven. Anyone ever have deep fried turkey?

Did Canada already have Thanksgiving?

I've already got the turkey in the oven and Wendy made the desserts last night.

I'm prepping the potatoes and the green bean casserol now, and everything should be ready at the same time (the trickiest part when cooking a large meal)!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and can spend it with family and/or friends.  Also, take a moment to think of those who can not be with family and friends this holiday.
