Title: Target = Marked Down Prices
Post by: Boba Binks on December 24, 2003, 09:35 AM
I just got back from four different Target stores this morning here in Indy.
They have marked down the Star Wars toys. *Not all have the same items marked down but I believe in time they all will.

Action Figures = $3.35 each including the Ani-Clone Wars

Multipacks = $6.35 each

Ultra Deluxe Figures = $7.35 each

Screen Scenes = $9.35 each

Vehicles *Not including Anakin's Starfighter = $9.35 each
Anakin's Starfighter is $21.97

Generic Lightsaber = $3.35 each

Electronic Lightsabers = $9.35 each

When I went out today I was hoping to find the Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and R4 figs since they are poping up at Target Stores. My search was a failure. I hope after the Holiday they will be out on the pegs with the mark down prices.

Keep your eyes open at Target for these great prices on Star Wars toys.
Happy Hunting!

Hi All,

I saw this same thing too, but the new figures Hoth Luke, Hoth Droid, Tatooine wave, etc. ring up with the higher $4.99 price point.  AND, the cartoon figures still ring up at the new $6.99 price.

However, the new 2003 and/or recarded 2003 figures which still have the old UPC combo (like Ack-Med Beq or the recarded figures Han/Fett/Ani) however, will USUALLY ring up at the clearance price (there are always exceptions, based on the UPC).

The reason that Targets are putting the "older" figures (anything from 2003 Saga Collection 1 and Collection 2) on clearance is because both the 2004 figure assortments and the Clone Wars cartoon figures both have new assortment numbers.

In other words, in terms of shelf space, the 04 figure assortment is replacing Collection 1 and the Cartoon figures are replacing Collection 2.  This is standard Target procedure when Hasbro starts shipping them items with a new assortment number.

All it means is that Target is NOT expecting anymore 2003 collection 1 and 2 (2003) figures from Hasbro. They do however have product in the DC still to be shipped to stores though...

It is NOT a sign that Target will stop carrying SW figures! (I hate those "clearance = no more SW at store X" rumors that always start up).

I guess it is to our benefit that Target still sorts/stocks by assortment and Hasbro is selling mixed cases at the start of the year. Target will get in a "new" case of 2004 figures, but any 2003 repack figures will ring up at the clearance prices!

So, keep an eye out at Target, you'll probably see "new" figures like Dignitary #2 or Ack-Med Beq dirt cheap after Christmas, however the others (like the new 2004 figures) will stilll be $5!

I ran out in the madhouse today to see this...  I got Assajj for the markdown, and A-Wings were $20 which is what they retailed for online isn't it?  But they were $30 in stores I believe.

I nabbed another, so I've upped my flight to 4.  I'll make it a damaged A-Wing I believe.

Looked like remains of Wave 3 CW figures but no Super Art. Clones.  Sonnovagun!

I only have one of the freakin' things, ugh!  :)

Well I still haven't been able to locate a new A-Wing, but I do have over twenty of the new SA Clonetroopers.  They look fantastic in my dioramas.

I ran by my Target yesterday right before they closed and grabbed a few Aay Vida figures for customizing purposes.  I was tempted to grab a Gunship for that cheap, but decided I've spent too much $$$ lately.

I got mine for $20 in a store.

I'm going out today, so I'll stop by Target and see if I can find any goodies.

Thanks for the tip!

Interistingly, I went to five Targets in my area, at 1 all the figures rang up regular price.

Ton's of Durge on speeder bikes and Clone Trooper on speederbike. I passed on them, but nabbed a couple extra Concept Stormtrooper's, Re-carded Vader, Boba, Han, and some Clone Wars figures to hopefully trade in for the Wave 3 figures that I have yet to come across.

Saving $1.22 a figure is fantastic!

Yea, today i got McQuarrie Stormtrooper, and Elan Slezebaggano at Target, they also had Clone Wars Wave 3 figures, and found a Variant SA Clone Trooper too.  It was so exciting, that figure looks great! ;)

Count other big ticket items on sale, too.  I scored some of Clone Wars basic figure wave 2 for $3 and change, Clone Wars army builders for $6 and change, and the Clone Wars Command Gunship for $20.98.  Target is nice!

They didn't lower the price on the Screen Scenes at my local Target. I still need to pick up War Room #2.

That sucks but. TheTarget near me only had Wave 1 Clone Wars figures on sale. everything else (Ultra Figs, Screen Scenes) were full price. :(

I've picked up 5 Padme Tatooines that I will use as Handmaidens...the purple robed ones from Episode I.

I'm also thinking of getting some more Twileks

I need to get back out and look...  I want an Obi CW for customizing as well as some others.  And x'ing my fingers in hopes of finding some Wave 3 CW lying about...  Namely Clone troopers!

Could use the screen scenes on clearance for fodder but they've not gone on sale and the Mace Windu one (the one I really wanted to hack apart) is non-existant anywhere but TRU.  Wonder if I can get a pricematch there?  Hmmm...   :-\

Beyond that, stuff's pretty well clearing out to just Wave 1 Clone Wars stuff...  Still Jedi Fighters lying about though, and some Droid Launchers...  Hopefully Saga will take its place.

10:30 this morning I walked into my local Target to find these figures marked down even lower.

$2.38 for basic figures

$4.98 for deluxe figures

Wow!  I was fortunate enough to have two receipts in tow, and went to the service counter where they effortlessly gave me an adjustment on 7 figures.  I have to find the rest of my receipts at home and go back.

$2.38 a figure is great!

-edit-

Target's policy is two weeks for sale items, so this was a one time deal. I went back in and they would not do it again, as these items are now clearence items.

Haven't found much at my Target closest to me lately. Need those Animated Clone figs! But I have to say, they have to be commended for being lightning-fast in their upkeep of the SW section. To mark '03 figures down and clear them out, at just the right time before new waves, and all this talk over on the RS front page about expanding SW sections during the post-Xmas reset, they're definitely going to stay the #1 source for figures for me!

It seems that all the Targets in my area have tons of Elan Sleeze and Ayaa. Other than that nothing much.

Yeah the prices went down even some more. Lot of Good that will do if they do not have stuff.

Target reset their toy isle in Marquette and when they put out the ultra figures they only had two Reikens and two C-3PO...so I asked about the Wampa and they said "That's all that was in the box".
So, either some employee swiped the Wampa (as I was right there when they bought out the boxes ) or they weren't shipped.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Title: Re: Target = Marked UP Prices?
Post by: JediMAC on February 2, 2004, 08:00 PM
Not a question of mark DOWNS here, since all that stuff has been cleared out of Targets now...

My question is:  Has Target marked all of their figures UP in your area?  They've been $4.79 ever since the debut of the Saga line around here, but with the introduction of the new 2004 Saga "themed waves", has also come a 20 cent price hike up to the usual TRU price level of $4.99...   :-\

Granted $0.20 isn't that big of a deal, but when you get a couple hundred figures, it really adds up.  Not to mention that I just enjoy doing all of my SW shopping at Target, and always enjoyed the fact that they had lower prices than TRU, and were right on line with WM's $4.76 price.

Plus, I'd always feel fine with helping all of my buddies out with the latest figures for a nice, even $5 a pop.  I didn't mind eating the extra $0.18 on each one.  But now that these things run $5.40 a piece with our 8.25% sales tax in L.A., I've decided $5 ain't gonna cut it anymore, which kind of sucks for all the folks I send figures to...   :-\  Shipping costs are already high enough as it is, but to have to add in another couple bucks for an average of 5 figures stinks.  And WM's low prices ain't helpin' one iota, since they haven't gotten in any new figures in over a year...   ::)

But to be honest, I don't mind paying an extra $.20 per figure if most of them are going to be really great sculpts of OT characters, and with added articulation to boot.  That's definitely worth the slight price increase to me.  Just curious why Target's the only store making a price increase so far...

Target hasn't "upped" their price on Star Wars figures (besides the exclusive cartoon ones) but they have on their LOTR figures, priced at $6.99!!! ???
What's up with that???  I'd complain but they are the only ones that have any trilogy figures so I don't have much of a choice.

So are your SW figures still at $4.79 out there Beth?  If so, are they the newer "themed waves"?

That would be kinda strange if Target's running different price points ont he SW line around the country...  And annoying, if I'm on the short end of the stick out here!   :-X

Targets in the St. Louis area "upped" their price from $4.79 to $4.99 about a month ago or so.   Might as well buy the figs at TRU if I can't find them at Walmart now. :P

Yeah, the Targets around here have upped the price to $4.99 as well, which kind of stinks.  I'm not complaining too much, because its still better than the $8 Episode I days, but the lower the better ;).  I'm another one who would just as soon do all of my Star Wars shopping at Target.  I think I have gotten all of my finds there in the past two months, with the exception of one figure...and some help from my online buddies :).

Wow.  Target sure went and did something interesting today...  They just removed ALL their prior Star Wars figures from their computer systems (SKU #'s ...0325 and ...0326), and changed the SKU #, and raised the prices on all of them to $5.99!!!   ???

The problem here is, that if you have any of the prior Saga figures (up to the Hoth and Tatooine waves) that you still wanted to return with a current receipt, you're gonna have a helluva hard time.  I've got a few leftovers that I had been planning to return still since no one here needed them, but now they're not going to match my receipt anymore.   ::)  Granted, Target would be dumb not to take them back for $4.79 each, when they're now turning around and selling them for $5.99 each.  This makes no sense, and is extremely irritating...

I came across the Bail wave at a couple different Targets today, and they were all at $5.99 (with new SKU #).  Go figure.  Same damned figures they clearanced out just a few weeks ago.  If that older stuff starts suddenly showing up again with a $6 price point attached, we're gonna have some serious problems on the pegs.  Hopefully the ones I saw today were just an isolated case though.  We'll see...   :-\

So Targets are now selling Star Wars figures at 3 different price points ($4.99, $5.99, $6.99), with a 4th price point for the figures of the past year and a half having just been eliminated this morning.  Very bizarre...  Looks like Target is no longer going to be competitive in the price department.  Unfortunately, that just leaves Wal-Mart, which doesn't even carry Star Wars about 95% of the time anymore...   :'(

As of January 15th (the last time I got a toy) the price at Target was $4.79.  It was a Hoth Trooper.
Nothing to buy lately to check the $5.99 price.

What do you have left Matt??  You never know, I might need it  :-\

I heard that Target prices are going up again for the new figures. They're not gonna be $4.79 but $5.99! I haven't been able to find anything new there anyways... The clearance section is wiped out. I only have the animated figures hanging on the pegs.

Sounds like we're in the same town JediKnight, all we have left are the Animated figures, and 6 empty pegs where a bounty a new figures used to be. I must stay "on Target", I just know something big is gonna happen again.

Target in Marquette is still charging $4.99 for the ROTJ wave and $9.99 for Jabba and his court denizens.

Weird that it is being done by individual store.
Title: Target Prices - back DOWN again!
Post by: JediMAC on February 17, 2004, 01:55 PM
Well, looks like the news may be getting better on Target's prices now...  Over the last several days, almost all of the Targets have returned all their prices to the $4.99 pricepoint, down from the $5.99 that everything's been at for 3-4 weeks now.  They even appear to have deleted the more expensive SKUs from their systems altogether.  Phew!  Definitely good news, that'll hopefully continue...

I haven't seen the Jabba's Palace or Yavin waves to confirm that this is on a go forward basis, but since they fixed the Hoth and Tatooine wave's prices, I'll assume it is.  Very relieved!   8)

It must have been my several sternly worded e-mails to their customer service that did the trick!   8)   ;)

Targets is Indy have marked down the 3-packs (Jedi / Geonosis) down to $9.99.

One store also did a small reset. They now have X12 pegs for Basic Star Wars figures, X4 pegs for Clone Wars, X2 tags for Mid Size Ships, X1 tag for Cups with figure, X1 tag for elec. Sabers, X4 pegs for Deluxe Figs.

Target has also marked down the Muppets stuff since they foolishly dropped it. I found the regular Koozebane Kermit for $4.48, some Mega Muppets for around $13, and the Swedish Kitchen for $17. Still looking for the 3-packs, since the 2nd War Room is marked to a price I won't feel raped for buying it. They were there, now they're gone. Poof.

My target stores have little to nothing of the 3-packs left.

I was really wanting a set that had Mace in it for fodder, but nothing to be found of that one here in Pittsburgh. :(

I cannot justify $20 fodder at TRU to get one...  Wish I had one of those to do some hacking up.  I'd take one of each really, to have a Yarael Poof to work with too.   >:(

The Targets by me don't have much at all ever, except some Animated Clone Wars figures.  And there's nothing on sale at any of them.
