Title: The Worst Movie Ever
Post by: chris solo on January 4, 2004, 07:18 AM
What movie do you feel was the worst creation to ever leave Hollywood? I know the last two Matrix were pretty bad, but I don't think either qualify.

My vote goes to the 1980's version of Flash Gordon or maybe Never Ending Story II.

Flash?  No way.  That thing comes on Starz or Encore and I watch it everytime.

I'll fight the urge to say the Phantom Menace.

The other problem is that this I assume it has to be based on movies we've actually seen, and I usually skip the true STINKER movies (which end up being the Critically Acclaimed and much lauded ones too.)

But the WORST all time that I have seen:

The Quick and Dead with Sharon Stone.
 or
Grandview, USA

Recently, I think Jeepers Creepers 2 has become the most intolerable motion picture ever created.

I hate 'Rat Race'. It's so stupid, I can't sit through it.

28 Days Later.

The movie was so retarded, and in the end, they had an alternate ending that made no sense to me either.

I sat through it again, and I hated it even more. The opening scenes were good though.

I'd have to say the worst movie I ever paid to see in the theatre was "Tombstone".
DSJ:  I bet there's a really good director's cut of "Thin Red Line" somewhere.  If you've read the book (which is great BTW) you realize how much had to be cut out to make the movie 2 hours long.  Thus, characters appear out of nowhere, disappear again, and very little makes sense.  If Malick filmed the entire book it would have been a kick-ass 4 hour flick  8)

Dude, Where's My Car?  I'm usually a fan  of stupid humor, but this was a complete waste of time.

Queen Of The Damned.  Others that come to mind are:

- Unbreakable
- The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen

BTW....Hi everbody!  Im new here.

Hey J!  Welcome to JD!  Best not to start with even mentioning that you've seen SpiceWorld though...   ;)

Two of the worst movies I remember ever seeing were The Money Pit (Tom Hanks/Shelley Long), and Hope Floats (Sandra Bullock/Harry Connick Jr.).  I blame the wife and a former girlfriend for making me watch those two abominations...   >:(

- Unbreakable

I kinda liked that one, heh.

I'm gonna add another one to the list, here, despite my loyalties :

Caravan of Courage : Battle for Endor

Personally i dont want to offend anybody but i hated :

Seabiscuit - could not stand that movie at all!!

Freddy Vs. Jason - Dumb, stupid, i guess we will see how dumb the new "Michael Myers Vs. Pinhead" does.  It is due out in Fall 2004.

And the movie i hated the most was : Daredevil c'mon they could of done so much better if someone else played Matt other then Bennifer!!

Nothing any of you have listed yet even compares to the terrible, slow, grating tedium of "The Lost Highway".  I am a big David Lynch fan, and I would normally find some silver lining to anything he did, but this movie is inexcuseable.  I dare, dare, DARE you to rent "The Lost Highway" and sit through it, and then I dare you to tell me you liked it, and then I beg you to explain to me why.

If you truly stand behind your choice of worst movie, you will accept my challenge.

I think FvJ was much better than some of the previous chapters of either saga. Care to explain more of why you didnt like the film?

I was watching Killer Clowns From Outer Space the other night on cable.  Pretty bad, but so outrageously bad and low-budget that it was almost funny to watch!  I'd guess this is one of those "cult classic" sci-fi films that is so totally ridiculous that it's actually entertaining to many people though.

I wonder if this film was up for an Oscar for costume design back when it first came out?   :P

YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!?!?!?!

NOBODY SAID GIGLI!!!!?????????????

That was by far the worst film ever made, let alone Bennifer letting us watch them ogle each other.

and Flash Gordon ROCKS!  The highest form of camp ever filmed! (even higher than Sgt. Pepper or the first Batman film back in the 60s

Oops!  Definite collective brainfart on that one!  But that's probably because none of us actually watched it.  Granted, I've heard enough about it to know that it definitely ranks as one of the worst movies of all time...  I've NEVER seen a movie get bashed to death like that one did - by EVERYONE.

Did you actually see it?!   :o

Solaris, with George Clooney.  I will never seen another movie with him until I get the 2 hours of my life back that he owes me

Thanks, but no...I did not submit myself to Gigli... I try to scope out movies three ways
1) word of mouth - all bad on this one
2) critic's reviews - (although I don't usually believe critics, they were 100% in agreement on this one)
and
3) stars on late night - Ben had nothing good to say about the movie and Jen wouldn't even shill it

all adds up to high suckage factor on Gigli!  :P ::)

Maid in Manhattan
Why did I rent that for my sister, and then proceed to watch all of it?
I was trying to make up for being an *** hole, if I remember correctly.
