Strange looking gun he's holding.

Is that new or from a different figure?  Looks a bit like an IG-88 vintage rifle or something...

Very interesting.  Cool looking packaging there!  So could a video game expert please fill me in on Battlefront?  When's it due out?  Is it coming for the PC?

Looks like an all-new gun there too.   8)

This one makes me a little nervous though, as far as potential price and distribution...   :-\

Coming for PC, PS2, & X-Box (around $50 at release).

I'd imagine that the figure will come with the PC version (the usual way they do things, consoles get no freebies), but that could be wrong.

Due in stores around Sept 21st of this year, BattleFront is an on-line Multi-player game much like Batlefield 1942 and the rest.  Lots of people running around pounding on each other.

A trailer and playable Demo is set to be included in the OT DVD set, so I supposed if you happened to pick up one of those by chance, you could try it out there and then buy the game if you like it.

I really want that figure but no release for gamecube. That sucks.  >:(

I think the gun belongs to PotJ IG-88.

I chopped them up for comparison here:

Anyone else see that, or am I reading too much into tiny details?  It would make sense to me, because they are grinding out more IG88 weapons for his OTC re-card release...

Yeah, you're probably right Jeff.  Besides, I doubt Hasbro would ever want to spend the time and money designing and producing an all-new gun just for some rehashed exclusive video game pack-in figure...

I can confirm that's the gun from the game...  It's IG-88's rifle.  Good Eye Nataku.  I have no doubt Hasbro is just reissuing that accessory.

In SW EU IG-88's rifle is an Imperial issue blaster used for long-range firing.  Something of a sniper rifle if I'm not mistaken...  Or a more accurate rifle at least than some ther known "canon" Imperial weapons like the Sandtrooper blasters and Stormie blaster.

I believe Scouts, in the game if I'm not mistaken, are also snipers...  So that'd be that then.

Good call on the gun.

I'll be passing unless something entices me to pick the game up.  Being that this game's likely a multi-player focused game with little-to-no Single-Player value it's one I'm not particularly interested in.

It could have some SP features that improve it over a Battlefield 1942 Clone though, and in that case I'd like picking the game up and having this odd figure.

Video game figures are a good idea (to me), but I'd like to see NEW figures done as part of an EU line from video games...  KOTOR, Jedi Knight series, X-Wing series, Rogue Squadron Series, Battlefront, Bounty Hunter, Republic Commando...  there's room to dabble.  :)

So does the figure come packaged with the game, or do you get it free with purchase while supplies last?

Either way, I just got a whole new reason to buy Battlefront.

By the "Not for Resale" tag, I'm wagering it's something you get with the purchase.  I'd be surprised if it were somehow rigged to the packaging of the game itself.

They could give it a bigger package like they did with the game SOCOM Navy Seals. I think a package that big could hold a DVD case and a headset could also hold a DVD case and an action figure.

I'll try to find pics of the box I'm talking about.

EDIT:

Surely an action figure and a game case could fit into a box that big, couldn't they?

Really Wai?

That's some interesting stuff...  For the carded guys, that's gotta be good news.  I know i personally it's a figure I'm not interested in, even with sorta neat packaging.

I'd like to see Hasbro take video game figures to another level though, and market the figures with the games (and later offer them thrugh the Fan Club/exclusives like you mentioned Wai).

That'd be a good way to tie the uber popular video game market to the primary marketing tool for Star Wars, the action figure line.

Looks like there might be a clean and dirty variant on this as well...

Dammit, I DON'T care.  Only one for me...  I swear...   :-\

I'd definitely be up for a few more video game figures as well, but obviously ones more original in nature.  Those, and a few of the major EU ones...

I think I'll pass.

A rescult is really in order for this figure, the more time that passes, the more I begin to wish my Scout could do more than just old a cup, or pinch something.

Then again I'm starting to really want SA on every figure, but that's just me- well, no most of us.

However, I do like the card an awful lot, but still I'll pass.

I preordered the PC version of Battlefront from EBGames.com, which lists the figure as shipping with the product. I have zero faith in getting a mint card in the container, so I'm thinking I'll hit an EB B&M next week to do the order in person for the Xbox version and see what the deal is with the stores.

I'm hearing that you can get the figure by preordering the game at EBGames for $5.

Is the figure going to ship with the game as well?

I went to my local Electronics Boutique to reserve/pre-order Battlefront this past Friday for XBOX.  When I asked the store employee if the game comes with the exclusive Biker Scout figure with pre-order, he absolutely had no idea what I was talking about. ??? I pre-ordered it anyway figuring that maybe I was a bit more informed than he was, and that they would get notice closer to the release date.  Also EBgames.com has listed all Battlefront platforms(PC,PS2,XBOX) as receiving a bonus free action figure Biker Scout with pre-order/and or in store pick-up EBgames pre-order Star Wars Battlefront (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/products/deptpage.asp?wherefrom=search&searchword=battlefront).  So who knows?

An EB Games store near me had the Biker Scout on display as part of the promotion for Battlefront.  I think word is getting around about the game and the figure.

Got my Battlefront Trooper today.

I ordered from SWShop.com and actually had a good experience!

Looking at this figure, there is no way it is worth the $12 I paid after shipping, but I must satisfy my carded complete-ist habit... it comples me to do so.   :-[

Although, he does look pretty nice hanging alongside RotJ Theater Luke and Jorg Sacul.  :)

Anyone find any cases that fit these?  Or will be turning to Oscar for another custom?  I plan on dropping him an email about getting one made.

Recieved my 2nd EBGames order and it's the same clean version as the 1st.

I'd love to hear if someone finds a case solution as well. Star Cases obviously don't work on this.
