Title: JediMAC goes absolutely postal!
Post by: aka DaBigKahuna on June 15, 2004, 04:22 PM
On a well respected moderator of a collecting forum no doubt.

The topic came up about Theater Luke's coming off the bubble.  This poor chap just stated his thoughts ;).

"It's not Hasbro/Kenner's fault that the bubble falls off, I would say that it's the person who owns the item didn't pay much care to the piece at all. The main problem would be where the figure was stored so as mentioned above heat would play a factor into the bubble popping off. Also the packaging isn't meant to last forever, in time bubbles will fade and bubbles might fall off depending on the location of the items. The only way Hasbro plays a part is the materials they use but Hasbro's aim is to get the figure to the shelf (in most cases) then the item being bought and opened. "

Now we have JediMAC ripping the poor guy... ;D

"for the love of all that is holy, would you PLEASE stop making stupid statements like this on such a consistent basis, when you obviously have no freaking idea what in the damned hell you're talking about. I highly doubt you even own one of these pieces, or know any of the aforementioned collectors who do. Therefore, you obviously can't speak to their collecting habits and methods, and the care that they may or may not give to their carded figures...

I got together with FishEyedLouie (above) and another local collecting buddy tonight, and this piece happened to come up in our conversation (which is how I learned of this thread), and we discovered that all three of our Theater Luke bubbles were coming off - and we're three of the most anal carded collectors around. So don't try and tell me that we all just so happened to coincidentally not take care of this one particular figure, out of the hundreds upon hundreds of figures in our carded collections, all of which are still perfectly MOMC aside from this one Luke.

This figure's card stock and glue were obviously of lesser quality than that which was used on all other standard carded figures of that time. For whatever reason, unfortunately, the bubbles on these nice commemorative figures are losing their grip, and many are starting to lift and/or fall off completely. So everyone who's fortunate to still have a good one, treat it as carefully as you possibly can!

And Greg(g), despite what you may think (and have unbelievably stated here in the past) - you are NOT God, and you don't know JACK about a great many things related to Star Wars figures, and collecting in general. Just because you can make decent lists (and subsequently prohibit anyone else from doing the same), it does not mean that you are knowledgeable about said items on your lists. So try shutting your trap once in a while, and maybe you won't look like such a foolish idiot.

- Matt"

I had to laugh when I saw Greg(g) post that over at Scum.  I'm glad that Matt said what he had to say towards GNT since his remarks (Greg(g)'s) where attacking those people who all live in different parts of the country and different collecting habits as being the idoits who caused they bubbles to come off.  If it was only happening to 1 or 2 people then maybe its they fault but not what seems to be a lot of people on one board.
I wonder how many of these Greg(g) has in his own collection to go with the hundred or so vintage stormtroopers he said he has which he got when they went on clearance at $1 or so back in the end days of vintage.

THis was another one of these comments that was meant as a good  sig. line. ;D

Ah shucks fellas...   :-[   ;)

Apparently nobody noticed this little blurb I made in the now closed RS thread here:

I haven't (yet)!   ;D  I've only been warned once so far by Philip, for correcting Greg(g)'s dumb ass one too many times...   ::)

Whoops. (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB2&Number=849265&Forum=,All_Forums,&Words=&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Main=152343&Search=true&where=&Name=1760&daterange=&newerval=&newertype=&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyprev=#Post849265)  My bad.  That's probably gonna cost me another warning from Greg(g)'s bodyguard.   ::)

Hate it when that happens...   :P

Just wanted to let my pal Greg(g) know that I hadn't forgotten about him.  Fun stuff, when I get all riled up like that, eh?   ;)  Fish's fault though, since he's the one who pointed out that thread to me in the first place...

Matt,

No offense, but being the operations guy that I am, I am left to go with the facts presented before me.

GNT = 26,261 posts member on Scum since 5/18/00

JediMAC = 6,789 posts between both JD and Scum

Both are moderators

Based on this, I think we all need to give GNT the nod of approval.

I'm open to hear more facts if you have any...

Just kidding of course.  Well, it's true mine is just fine, but I know what you mean.  GNT can be very protective of Hasbro and lash out at those who oppose the big H.

Pardon my ignorance, but wouldn't Greg(g) have been about -5 when the clearance of vintage stormtroopers happened?  Hell, if it had been 1985-ish, I would only have been 21.  Or was this all tongue-in-cheek?

That would be what I wondering about Greg(g) stated this over at RS or the old BHC a few years back.  When I first read that I figured he was just BSing but wasn't sure until Scott and Matt found that picture of him and it showed he would be really young back then if he was around at all.  It just another on of GNT holyness.

What an idiot.

And I'm not talking about a simple moron, but a full-blown multifaceted imbecile of monumental proportions. Being the third party to this conversation last night, and another victim of a deteriorating Theater Edition Luke, I’m actually offended reading his comments above. I haven’t been reading the RS discussion (don’t even lurk now) but there are legitimate degradation issues with the card, which is obvious just by the conversation we had last night, and I’m sure there’s been plenty of other confirmation of it from plenty of people out there.

To make multiple assumptions, from the storage conditions of those with issues, to the knowledge of the cardback quality, to Hasbro’s distribution intentions, is the sign of extraordinary ignorance, and the mark of a true fool.

I’m glad MAC ripped into him, because he’s deserving of every word.

LOL!! Kudos to you Matt, on a hilarious yet insightful rant on Greg(g).

The thing I find most interesting about Greg(g) if I may be indulged here for a moment is, that on the one hand he goes spouting off about stuff he either has no knowledge of or just a very narrow and easily disputable opinion on. Yet on the other hand he has proven to be helpful on certain topics, most likely those topics he does have knowledge of. If he could just merge the two together in a nice cohesive way and take to heart the suggestions given to him he may not be as big of a pain in the ass as most think he is. But ya know, old dogs, new tricks, not happening....

Title: Re: JediMAC goes absolutely postal!
Post by: Angry Ewok on June 16, 2004, 09:58 AM
He won't do an interview with you. He knows you are "one of us" and that the interview would press the questions that really matter... ie - How were you able to pick up clearanced stormies when you were merely a sperm?

Maybe Australia had a ton of clearanced SW stuff, but when I was about 3 (1987) I saw a Star Wars product on the shelves for the first and last time until the 90's...

I was born in the year of the Jedi (1984), and Greg(g)'s entire point in his lie about that was to establish the fact that he is "of the age" (1977-1984) - when in fact he isn't. I bet it just kills him that he can't say he was born earlier (o wait, he does say he was born earlier, nevermind).
Title: Re: JediMAC goes absolutely postal!
Post by: DoctorPadawan on June 16, 2004, 10:37 AM
First of all, on the Theater Luke front, part of the reason for the bubble drops or whatever probably has something to do with the quality of the packaging as a whole.  Mine (and I don't know if everyone else's is like this) came on a card that is about half as thick as a regular POTF2 card of that time period, and is about a third as glossy (at least on the back).  I would wager this is why it is so difficult to find one of these in perfect condition (out of the five that my friends and I got on opening night of the ROTJ: SE, and yes there were five of us, so it was only one each, only one had no creases in the cardback).  If Hasbro/Kenner put that little effort into the card, then it only stands to reason they cheaped out on the glue as well.

Okay, now on to the fun stuff...  ;D

When I read that thread yesterday (linked to from the now locked RS thread), I nearly fell off my chair laughing.  If it were possible to be funny and serious at the same time, you certainly achieved that, Matt.  The thing I found most surprising was that one of the RS forum mods even pretty much agreed with you about Greg(g)'s lack of thinking.  I'm curious to know if Wise-ass has already written to reprimand you or ban you for speaking the truth about his beloved GNT.

I wish I were banned at RS.  :-[ It'd be like a badge of honor for me at this point.

Also, if Greg(g) actually bought vintage Stormtroopers by the truckload when they were being clearanced out in 1986, then he would be the most powerful sperm in the universe.  Much stronger than Superman's "Krypton Super Sperm" that could completely destroy Lois Lane's fallopian tubes and uterus.  :)

He's not even an old dog. He's just someone who does NOT take criticism well. He doesn't admit when he's wrong. He doesn't like to look stupid, but that doesn't seem to keep him from doing so. These are all the traits of one who is far too immature to moderate objectively, effectively, and with any amount of respect from fellow board members.

I was born in the year of the Jedi (1984)...

Return of the Jedi was released in 1983, if that's what you're referring to. 1984 was the year of the Force in toys. (Or the Beverly Hills Cop at the box office, take your choice.)

Maybe your kick in the nutz will be a silent one?

Why show any respect to forum members, even to tell them WHY they're being kicked off, or give it some reason/legitimacy from someone important?  That'd be a single iota of quality.
Title: Re: JediMAC goes absolutely postal!
Post by: Vator on June 24, 2004, 04:23 AM
Indeed, but then again, I have to wonder if the banishment was seldomly handled by GNT, or if he had to have confirmation from Grupenstrumbahnfurer Wise? Because if GNT has the power to ban, isn't he a little higher than a mod?
Title: Re: JediMAC goes absolutely postal!
Post by: Jesse James on June 24, 2004, 04:33 AM
I'm 100% sure GNT doesn't have the power to ban, but he does have the power of asking for one down like a pro.  And that's all it seemingly takes is the whistle-blowing to someone important...

No discussion, no explanation (at times?), and no debate from the opposite side.  If he did a good job and obeyed the rules of the site himself, and were a tad more courteous, I think things would be ok.

Then again if he did all that would he have so many critics?  A real vicious cycle there. :)

Don't the RS Forum Rules outline policy regarding bans and suspensions? I believe it states offending members are to be contacted regarding their infractions.

(Not that it would be the first time a mod totally disregarded the rules in favor of their own style of gunslinging over there.)
Title: Re: JediMAC goes absolutely postal!

Yes they do:

Suspension and Banning: If a member has his posting rights suspended for a period of time, generally for a rule infraction, he will be notified of it and will be told when he may write again asking to be reinstated. If a member is banned from the forum, he will no longer be permitted to participate in the forum again. It is important to note that both suspensions and bans are for the member, not the account, which is further explained below

The bold italics was added by me.

Stupid stuff like this by mods, or forum admins drives me nuts.  I got kicked of the mod team of a GI Joe board (board is down now, big suprise) because I darred to question an admins decision.  Actually I didn't question it, I said OK, but took the time to explain why I did something.  Power trip super egos!

I'm 100% sure GNT doesn't have the power to ban, but he does have the power of asking for one down like a pro.  And that's all it seemingly takes is the whistle-blowing to someone important...

Actually, that was the case with the old boards, but the mods over there can ban folks now. Even me. So don't get fiesty.  ;D

Yet somehow Lady Jaye continues to post there...

Hehe. Yeah. I've never banned anyone for irking me personally or anything. I think that's lame. For the record though, I'm not sure GNT did either. He posted some quotes of stuff that got said about his mother, and a few choice words about him.....all technically against the rules.

As far as ME and name calling though, I enjoy fighting my battles a lot more than silencing my opponents.  Which reminds me, there hasn't been a good flame war in a long time......  ;D

You missed a good (but brief) one between myself and Durge a little while ago. Sadly he's no longer around to defend himself.

Cause most of the flamees went away or were silenced :P

Now, say wha?! I called him some things, given, but I don't think anyone insulted his mother. That little pric, hell, my original infraction was posting his pic in the Marvel Legends thread, that got me a threat for a Ban. I didn't know that was against the offical rules and regulations  :-*

So, if he is making up quotes (to my knowledege, Diddly Squat didn't say anything about his mother, just that he enjoys molesting small children and has a thing for Palpatine) isn't that- no, wait, that's pretty GNT to me.

My main problem though, is that I have a new PM that I can't read. Very annoying.

EDIT: Offical Banning letter has arrived!

As you are aware you have been banned from the rebelscum forum. Prior to being banned you spammed the forum with an endless amout of Nuke images in not just one thread/section but quite a few. The Nuke image served no purpose in any open thread and you only cluttered the forum with it.

It didn't stop there, you then continued to attack me, another forum member calling me a moron, ****hole and then 'special' in multiple sections. You've shown that your not a productive member, you've spamed the forum with useless Nuke images and attacked me a moderator at this site. You are no longer welcomed at the RS community.

And he's a productive member? Please.
I have his email now

Maybe that's in reference to something I joked about over at GH a couple weeks ago.  Somebody asked in some thread "Who's Vicki?" (don't recall why), and I joked that she was Greg(g)'s mom, and that I thought everyone knew her, and without her help, we would've never discovered Greg(g)'s real identity...

I noticed a week or so later that Mike edited out my comment there, so I'm assuming Greg(g) or Philip dropped him a line about it.  No biggie.   :P

You shouldn't joke about his mom - he's probably pretty sensitive about the fact he's never had one. :-*

I'll be awaiting the deletion of about comment. Share the love.

Actually, you shouldn't joke about anyone's mom.

"Your momma" jokes are always fine amongst friends, but if he is one of those people that takes it personally when strangers do it, I can't really blame him for that.  For some people....family is sacred, and it's just a line you don't cross.

Now, if you'll excuse me, your moms (plural) are all lined up outside my house for their weekly servicing, and I have a long night ahead of me.  ;)

Got No Testicles is sending out the "your (sic) banned" e-mails now?!?!

What--Philip too busy eating babies, or whatever it is that he does, to do it himself?

If the posting of off topic pictures were a part of the reason for you guys banning then a lot of people over there should be threatened with bannishment since they post off topic pictures.  I have seen count down to threads being locked, signs switching from open to closed and recently a cow with his/her tounge sticking out.  All of those pictures were off topic since no one was talking about a cow or it's tounge and any of the other things.

I wonder how long it will be until Greg(g) bans me since he has this new power to abuse.

I glad that over here the powers that be don't abuse they power like Greg(g) does over there.

No banned letter for me yet. I should check and see if my account was still locked. If not, I could email Phillip and make up a bogus story about GNT banning me for no reason. :P

Are you there, God?  It's me, Virex.

If anyone tried to determine the most common rite of passage for preteen girls in North America, a girl's first reading of Are You There God? It's Me, Virex would rank near the top of the list. Judy Blume and her character Virex Birchall were the first to say out loud (and in a book even) that it is normal for girls to wonder when they are ever going to fill out their training bras. Puberty is a curious and annoying time. Girls' bodies begin to do freakish things--or, as in Virex's case, they don't do freakish things nearly as fast as girls wish they would. Adolescents are often so relieved to discover that someone understands their body-angst that they miss one of the book's deeper explorations: a young person's relationship with God. Virex has a very private relationship with God, and it's only after she moves to New Jersey and hangs out with a new friend that she discovers that it might be weird to talk to God without a priest or a rabbi to mediate. Virex just wants to fit in! Who is God, and where is He when she needs Him? She begins to look into the cups of her training bra for answers ...

That last part got me interested so I went out and bought the book today.  Its good so far but I hear it goes downhill after she buys that training bra

It's a great book, it really is--almost as good as another one of Blume's novels--SuperDurge.

Sometimes life in the Berry household is enough to make 104-year-old Chris think about running away. His worst problem is still his younger brother, Durge, who hasn't changed a bit since his crazy capers in Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. If you ask Chris, Durge is just an older ? and bigger ? pain.

Then Chris learns that his mom is going to have a baby and the whole family is moving to Princeton for a year. It will be bad enough starting sixth grade in a strange place and going to the same school as Durge. But Chris can imagine something even worse. How will he ever survive if the new baby is a carbon copy of Durge?

As my Grandmother would've said...  "Crows **** (poo'd) him out on a fence-post and the sun hatched him".

Edited my own post, hehe...  Figured the point would be made clear enough without my foul mouth setting a bad example...

Bad Jesse!  :)
