Title: Too late to order VOTC cases from EE?
Post by: Matt on August 1, 2004, 07:55 PM
So, I've never ordered a case of anything before, and I've been meaning to get all of my VOTC figures by the case, but I've heard some things that say that if you're a little slow or late in ordering a case from EE, they may not have enough to fill your order, and you'll be S.O.L.

Any truth to that, in your guys' experience?  Or do you pretty much order cases as soon as they're available?

I'm wanting to order two cases of both VOTC Wave 2.5, and whatever the new one with the ROTJ assortment is.

Should I even bother at this point?

I order as soon as they are available.  I have waited in the past just to see if I've found them at retail and if I never did I just ordered them when they became available on line (I always signed up for email notification).

With VOTC, it might be just a little bit riskier.  Only because (and I could be wrong but I know I read it somewhere) that these particular cases are only shipping for a small period of time so you might want to pre-order now just in case you can't find them locally.  It can't hurt because if they (EE) can't fill your order (and you haven't yet found them locally) you're really not out anything.  If you do find them, you can always cancel your order.

OR, you could order them from shopstarwars.com just for the hell of it and see if they get your order right.... :-X

Yeah, I know I probably should order that stuff right away, but I've always had pretty good luck finding stuff at retail, plus, I'm a huge procrastinator on most things, so I just wind up putting these things off for weeks or months.

I'll probably go ahead and order them from EE tonight, and hopefully, I'll get them in in time.

. . .Yeah.  Thanks to the 8000-page thread in Wuher's Watto's, I don't think I'll ever be ordering anything from those jackasses.  Even the exclusives, I think I'd probably feel safer paying double through an eBay scalper with it in hand, than from the jerkstore (and I'm a brand new Fan Club/Hyperspace member!).

Anyway, thanks for the reply!

The last waves, which if I had to place a bet of any that were going to be tough to get it'd be the ROTJ wave, just popped up not too long ago.  That's at least smething positive to ordering a little later I'd think.

The ANH wave, from what I hear, is making its mass appearance now at stres like Target and Wal-Mart, so that's a plus.  ESB wave I'm just banking on being semi-easy to get, like ANH was for me.  I can hope for that at least.

Oddly, Luke's the only toughie to find...  Or was the only toughie to find anyway.

Okay, so I'm doing my "research" at EE--and if I get two cases each of both VOTC Wave 2.5 and Wave 3, it would come out to a minimum of $390 shipped.

Ouch.

Comes out to just over $12 each, which really isn't too bad, considering that I'd be guaranteed at least four Stormtroopers.

But that's the deal:  With that combination, I'd have a minimum of two of each of the 12 figures (which is good), but I'd have four Vaders, four Landos, four Bobas, and four Stormtroopers.  Now, the four Stormtroopers, I can easily live with, but I have no need for two extra Vaders, Landos, and Bobas.  That comes out to about sixty bucks worth of duplicates, which will probably be kind of tough to get rid of.

So I'm thinking about just doing two cases of Wave 2.5 for now (which is a great assortment), and maybe holding off on Wave 3.

Do you guys think we'll see any other assortments for the Jedi wave?  Like everybody else, I'd love to see a case with two of each of the four.

i'd be more than happy to take those off your hands. seriously. since i have about a 1% chance of finding those here near my house, i've been buying just about everything "new" online.

2 vaders, 2 landos, 2 bobas and 2 troopers (if you wanted to get rid of them) would be exactly what i'm looking for in that wave. let me know.

Well, if I got four Stormtroopers, it is very highly likely that I would be keeping all four.  If you could live with that, then yeah, I'd definitely work something out with you, but obviously everybody wants as many Stormtroopers as they can get.

(Warning:  Horrible analogy coming up)

It'd be kind of like buying a brand new car with only three wheels or something.

I'm still curious to see if Hasbro might announce some new assortments for that Jedi wave, though. . .

I think it might be too late on the Wave 1 stuff, Wave 2 and 2.5 and 3 you should still be good.  This is because Luke is sorta tough to find right now and people are going gaa-gaa

Well, I just bit the bullet and ordered two cases of Wave 2.5 from EE for just a little over $200.

It's cool for two reasons:

First, now I don't have to worry about any of the first eight VOTC figures.

Also, I have just guaranteed that every Wal-Mart, Target, and Toys 'R' Us store in the Oklahoma City metro area will magically have all of these figures on their pegs every time I visit one for the next six months.

Yay!

Now, just to figure out what to do about that damned Jedi wave. . .

I'm thinking of buying these too, I'm going to wait though and probably get them on clearance from somewhere, they aren't selling too well

I haven't heard anything yet and I ordered on day one also.  It still states August 2004 so hopefully in the next week or two, they'll get their shipment in.

I just ordered VOTC wave 3 through EE.  I also cancelled my wave 2 order through SWS today.

I ordered VOTC Wave 3 and OTC Wave 11 last night. Now all I have to do is find Luke, C3PO and Yoda VOTC and 21, 22, 26, 27 and 28 OTC at retail.

How does EE ship these things? Do they pack the Hasbro case into a larger box, or just drop ship the Hasbro box?

Double boxed, Hasbro Box in a larger EE box
