Anyone else hate this bastard?

I will admit that I liked him back before I even knew who he was, before anybody knew who he was, before he was "Matthew Lillard, Freddy Prinze Jr.'s butt buddy", back in Serial Mom.
But ever since then, from his role in the original Scream, to "co-starring" with the also-awful Prinze in every movie either of them do (remember when you and your best friend would be a "package" when picked for the kickball teams at recess? Same deal with these two flunkies), he's irritated the hell out of me. Topping it all off for Matthew Lillard is his role as "Shaggy" in the ultra-fantastic (and by "fantastic", I mean "terrible") Scooby-Doo movies.
Probably the worst part of all is that he's the newest Hollywood actor to have the dreaded "Ralph Macchio Syndrome". The last ones that had it were the entire cast of "Beverly Hills 90210"--this is the unfortunate disease where actors continue to play the same 19-year-old characters well into their middle age.
Lillard, in real life, is actually 52 years old, on his third marriage, and is recovering from quadruple-bypass surgery, yet he's playing Lindsay Lohan's secret crush, Davey, in the new movie "Confessions of a Teenage Mean Girl Part 2: Freakier Friday", coming out this Christmas.
He will be the one responsible for the decline of western civilization.

The other guy... Lillard. I didn't recognize him a lot till Virex mentioned Shaggy, then it hit me. If he were to branch out on his own, could he possibly improve his standing? Perhaps it is Freddie Prinze Jr. (or however it is spelled) who is holding him back?
He seems like a bit of a knob, and possibly an anchor around many-a-person's neck.

okay, you can all hate me now, 'cause i actually like matthew lillard. he was great in serial mom, hackers, and s.l.c. punk. i actually liked scream, and thought he was okay in that. haven't seen either of the scooby movies, but i still think he's an okay actor.

Well, I pretty much hate you already, for that pesky "refuse to capitalize" thing you've got going on, but I digress. . .
I'll admit, a lot of his more-respected flicks like Hackers or SLC Punk, I've never seen (and probably never will)--no doubt in part due to the fact that he's in them.
So yeah, I'm being fairly ignorant in my hatred of him.
But the crap that I have seen of them pretty much solidifies my opinion of him, though.
I even put up with him throughout part of Summer Catch--if only to see the "dripping-wet-Jessica Biel-gets-out-of-pool-in-very-small-bikini" scene.
Even he couldn't ruin that.

Interestingly enough, I actually used to know Matt Lillard. We went to Jr. High (Hewes) and High School (Foothill) together for about 4 years, and had a lot of the same classes...
Pretty surprised when he hit the "big time" with Scream, and a few of those other movies...
As for Linda Cardellini, yes, she is SMOKIN' HOT! 8)

But that's it--no "we got together and played Pong on the weekends", or no "he was a total dick", or anything that would give us a clue to how he felt about Matthew Lillard. You'd think that there would be some kind of personal opinion of him given, good or bad, to give us all some kind of insight to the person in question. . .

I've been told I look like him on several occasions, sadly none of which have ended with "Can we go out sometime" or "drop them pants now!".
The fact that he and our Matt were passionate explains much of what transpired at Comic Con when we shared a room though... : >:(

Yeah, FOOTHILL (as in, a high school in Tustin, CA) - not football. I think Lillard was in Little League with me, but I don't recall him playing any high school sports later on (though I could be wrong).
Truth is, we weren't tight, or good friends or anything like that. Just classmates for a number of years, with a fair amount of interaction just in class or around school. We ran in separate circles for the most part. Nothing too exciting.
I'd say he was in the "B+" crowd - not super popular, but a reasonably cool dude that most people liked. Not geeky/nerdy/dorky, or anything like that. Cool enough that he went to some of the bigger parties. Never did anything terribly notable in those years though, that I recall. No idea if he was into the "drama" thing back then, though I do recall him being a tad bit on the "class clown" side at times...
I always thought he was just a regular, nice, normal guy. Sorry I don't have any stories, or insight, that's more fun than that. As for my yearbooks from those 4 years (7th - 10th grade), I think they're all in storage right now (not that I have a scanner anyway). Hopefully I can dig them out some time soon, and let you know if there's anything else fun in there. Just try to remember that I'm 34 freakin' years old now, and the memory's not so good anymore... :P

In the beginning, I really didn't have any particular dreams or aspirations to speak of for this thread. I thought, maybe it'd do okay, and get a couple of fellow Lillard-haters to speak up, and hopefully get Cory Fanboy back into the fold (as I believe he's a Hackers fan). Really, though, it was just mainly a place for me to vent my hatred of this cancer of Hollywood.
But, in light of today's events, it's turned into so much more.
Easily the most-important thread I've ever created here at JD, and rivaling only my "Lee Greenwood is dead" thread from Rebelscum last year as the most meaningful thing I've ever contributed to the internet.
Thank you one, thank you all for participating. But most importanty, I thank you, Matt Colman.

See, you now have this thread and I have the Top 50000 Hotties, its cool to have such a great little piece of JD.com to call your own and be proud of what you created. How it has evolved into so much more than a simple bitchfest is amazing in its own right, a true work of art, something Dickens or Hemingway would even call brilliant. Missed the VMA's because of power outages, but caught this tool and Scott Evil on the Graham Norton Effect. He's a doofus. The only claim to fame he could muster up was his Scooby Doo role, which nobody should be that proud of.

I have to admit that I actually laughed at more than a few parts though. :-[ There were a LOT of SW and Indy references, even vintage 3PO had a small role to play...

That is hilarious, but I REALLY hope I never piss any of you off!
As for Lillard, I believe he also did/does the voice overs for Shaggy on the Scooby- Doo Cartoons as I have seen him credited- however, never paid attention to the year.
As a SW note, Mark Hamill does a voice over on Scooby-Doo Zombie Island (a non-Lillard) full length feature. I knew he did voice work, but I didn't think it reached as far as this.

Hammil's even done voicing in video games princess. In Wing Commander he was digitally put into the game as well. He's made a real career on cartoon voicing, but his voicing the Joker on Batman Animated Series is his best... Really neat character and all.

Yeah, I knew he did the Wing Commander stuff- that was years ago- wasn't it?, and the Batman connection, etc, but I just find Scooby Doo to be in a WHOLE other category from those... I guess I really shouldn't... um Batman Animated Series is probably ACTUALLY made for kids, too...

I'd say a mix... Kinda like Clone Wars. Clone Wars really had an adult feel, but my gf's kids really enjoyed it immensely. I remember her youngest laughing his ass off at the Clone's being smacked around by Assajj in the forrest, and he liked Durge with his biker droid army too.
It's nice when adults and kids can enjoy something simultaneously... Unfortunately Lucas himself can't maintain a balance like that.
The Batman Animated Series was definitely aimed at both though I believe. Adults could get into it seriously, but it wasn't too violent for kids, it had humor both could follow and laugh at... That's good stuff.
Kinda like Toy Story I think... To use a comparison. But a lot less funny than Toy Story. :)
