Which sequels do you feel are inferior to their original counterparts? I don't think many people here will agree with my choices, but here goes:
- Batman Returns (GNT might disagree)
- Jeepers Creepers 2
- Predator 2 (the Predator goes urban. lame.)
- Matrix sequels (were they really necessary?)
- Terminator sequels (were they really necessary?)
- Superman 2 (I didn't care much for the trio of villians, especially Ursa and Non)
- Spider-Man 2 (yep. I felt it was inferior to the first. Flame away!)
And despite the fact that I despise most Disney sequels, they always end up in my collection. Somehow my daughter always manages to convince grandma she needs them. :-\

- The Matrix Reloaded
- All Batman Films
- All non-Pixar Disney Sequels (Cinderella 2, Little Mermaid 2, Lion King 2 etc.)
- TMNT 2
-
Karate Kid 2
Ghostbusters 2
Teen Wolf 2 (this one really chapped my hide)
2 Fast 2 Furious
Colman and Lillard Love Train: The High School Years

O.k. Alright-
Superman 2? Who’WAT! You thought that was a crummy sequel… really? I loved it as a kid and still think it’s not bad… EXCEPT all that nonsense between Clark and Lois, but the battle between Supes and the Phantom Zone outcasts is phenomenal!
I must also disagree with you on Batman Returns (and not just because GNT is my favorite RS footman), really it’s the only Batman flick I’ve enjoyed, as it captured some of the campy fun of the 60’s show – Walken was fanfrickintastic as Max Shreck… much, much better than the first film or all subsequent sequels, at least in M.notsoH.O.
Then here’s a few more stinky sequels-
Exorcist II: The Heretic
More American Graffiti
Darkman 2
Highlander II
The Hitcher 2
Starship Troopers 2
2010, The Year We Make Contact
Return of the Living Dead Part 2
Scanners 2
An American Werewolf in Paris
Caddyshack 2
American Psycho 2
… there’s just so many that I’ve wondered “why in the hell did they bother…” that it’s making my alcohol soaked little mind spin, so I’ll stop here.

Blair Witch 2...the first one worked for me, being a big time camper and imagining myself being out in the woods and hearing stuff all of the time, the second one I didn't even bother to see it got such horse manure word of mouth and reviews
-
Jaws IV, definitely. A 30 foot Great White shark that can walk on water is a little bizarre...
Karate Kid 2
::) She was hot.
Colman and Lillard Love Train: The High School Years
>:(
-
Godfather III: Puzo Needs More Money
Indiana Jones, Temple of Doom -- Didn't Spielberg apologize for this one?
-
Escape from LA
Swamp Thing, the Return.
Star Wars Episode I. Crap prequel, who cares! ;D
Men in Black 2.
Rocky Sequels.
Look Who's Talking Sequels.
Caddyshack 2.
Speed 2.
Arthur 2.
Grease 2.
Superman 2 was good, hell of a lot better than Superman 4, The Quest For Peace . Nuclear Man, WTF was that! ::)

Halloween III

Batman Returns was disappointing as a sequel but seems to age pretty well. Compare it to the 2 that followed it, and it's high art. 8)
My list looks like this:
Ghostbusters 2
(One I waited for what seemed like forever for, only to be disappointed on every level)
Alien Resurrection
(Whack. French. Suckfest.)
Matrix Revolutions
(I really honestly thought Reloaded was setting up mindblowing revelations for the 3rd movie, only to have pt3 make not only pt2 suck completely, but annoy me into hating everything about anything Matrix)
Return of the Jedi
(You know, this movie is aweful. I find more about it that I hate every time I see it. It certainly sets the tone for the PT - childish, vapid, and hacky)
Robocop 2
(Imagine a Robocop sequel with the director of ESB at the helm! But now imagine a kid drug dealer, a robot addicted to smack, terrible music, a complete lack of subtext and humor from the first film, and Robocop's costume looking like blue plastic. Suckfest)
-
MIB 2
Batmans (except the first one)
-
Gotta disagree on T2 and I liked the urban setting of Predator 2. But i'll add:
Godfather 3
Any Friday 13th
Any Nightmare on Elm St.
Another 48 hrs
Beverly Hills Cop 3
Alien 3
Temple of Doom (but Last Crusade was excellent)
American Werewolf in Paris
A few of the Planet of the Apes films
Blues Bros 2000
Christmas Story
Jaws 3, 4
Darkman
Dumb and Dumber
Rambo 3
Fright Night 2
Howling
Lethal Weapon 4
Some of the Vacation flicks
Rocky 4
Slapshot 2
Major League
Starship Troopers
Isnt this list endless?

TMNT 3. Even when I was 12, I could tell this flick sucked. I'd like to see a fourth flick with Krang and a resurrected Shredder, or Krang and an army of mutant screwballs.
Alien Resurrection. Just didn't dig it, I guess.
Batman and Robin. The costume for Mr. Freeze was neat as hell, but that's its only redeeming feature. And Uma wasn't good at all in this flick.
Terminator 3. T2 was one of those cases where the sequel surpassed the original, but this just stunk of the cashgrab it was.
Matrix sequels-- I have never seen a more pretentious series of films.

The Matrix sequels may be the biggest blowout in film history. Really, it's amateur hour.

Agreed. It's almost depressing how bad they were.

Jaws The Revenge.
'Nuff said.
