Title: Wrestling Figures
Post by: Scott on October 29, 2004, 11:16 AM
Man, you have no idea how many times I've wanted to jump into the Classic Superstars line of Wrestling Figures.  Making figures from the glory years of Wrestling, back when it was real and I watched every Friday night and Saturday.  When I cheered for the Hulkster and Andre the Giant...those figures stir nostalgia in me something fierce.

But so far, I have resisted...but I will be picking up the following:

King Kong Bundy

My brother and I have been King Kong Bundy fans forever, when that figure hits I'll be buying one for me and one for him to display at his bar.  I can't wait

Series 1

Bret "The Hitman" Hart
Ultimate Warrior
Andre the Giant
Triple H
Undertaker
Shawn Michaels

Series 2

Mankind
Sgt Slaughter
George "The Animal" Steele
Big John Studd
Ric Flair
Dude Love - Chase

Series 3

Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka
"Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase
Jake "The Snake" Roberts
Ultimate Warrior 2
Bret The Hitman Hart 2
Undertaker 2

Series 4

Rowdy Roddy Piper
Yokozuna
Hacksaw Jim Dugan
Tito Santana
Hillbilly Jim
Junkyard Dog

Series 5

King Kong Bundy
Terry Funk
Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake
Nikolai Volkoff
The Iron Sheik
"Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorf

2-Packs

Heart Foundation
Legion of Doom
The Rockers

Pretty nice line-up with most of the stars of the 80's have been well covered with the exception of

Hulk Hogan
Jesse "The Body" Ventura
Mister Perfect Rick Hennig
Mister Fuji
Cpt Lou Albano
Randy "Macho Man" Savage
Ricky "The Dragon' Steamboat
Greg "The Hammer" Valentine
The British Bulldogs
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
Honky Tonk Man
Bam Bam Bigelow
One Man Gang
Koko B Ware
Big Boss Man

Man am I tempted but if there was one thing I know, my wife would absolutely KILL me if I bought any of these.  One King Kong Bundy won't hurt

They sell very well, wrestling figures in general that is.  No interest on my part.  My old wrestling watching days precede these guys, so unlikely they'll be made.  Baron Von Raschke, Jumpin' Jim Brunzell, etc.  Not likely to see those.

The Baron!  Yeah I started watching right at the tail end of probably when you stopped watching Brent.  Back when Hulk and Jesse were in the AWA (based out of Minnesota!) and it used to be on Saturday nights here locally.  Back before the WWF stole all the big names and went big in the mid 80's

That was really when wrestling was real

I was able to order two King Kong Bundys off of Amazon this weekend.  Come to Papa big fella!  Wave 6 at Toy Fair was also pretty cool:

The Rock (2000)
Shawn Michaels #2 (Rockers)
Doink the Clown
Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan
One Man Gang
Earthquake
Andre the Giant #2
Koko B. Ware w/Frankie

I think I'll cave and get a Doink figure. Also an Ultimate Warrior figure, because if I ever meet him, I'm gonna ask him to sign it. :)

Here is a list of what I own for wrestling toys. At one point I was collecting one of each charecter made. Then I came to my senses. I decided to only keep a figure of everyone that was either my favorite wrestlers, part of my favorite gimics or I have an autograph of them. I'll put # for Gimic, and a @ for autograph.

My brother is a big WWF/WWE fans and has been collecting the Classic series for quite a while now. While I hunt for SW figure I am always on the look out for them for him as well. Yesterday I picked up a couple figure from the new series (13); Curt Hennig and Bad News Brown.

I knew Mr. Perfect (Hennig) died last year, here in Minneapolis, and much to my surprise Bad News Brown died yesterday. Eerie.

I saw him once maybe a month ago... that is the one with the cartoonish type sculpt and the blue panel on the packaging right?

I saw one 2 weeks ago at the Wal-Mart in Wisconsin Dells, WI. I almost grabed it for myself, but passed. Trying to stop this collection. It has been easier now that I put that collection away.
