Title: Instant Karma Part 2
Post by: Scott on February 4, 2005, 12:15 PM
We (me, Max and Erik) were in a pretty serious car accident yesterday morning

We're all OK (as good as can be expected).  Max got a cut over his left eye thanks to glass and also has a broken rib.

Erik was able to get out it with only a small bruise on his cheek

Me, I was knocked unconcious and I am unbelievably sore this morning

Car (Toyota) was totalled, we got hit by a guy running a red light broaside right behind Max's door.  We're all very luck and thankful that we're still here.

The instant karma part involves the car accident thread, I've been in  a couple of of fender benders but nothing serious, when Darth Kenobi bumped the thread I was about to reply that I've been accident free for a while now... :'(

Yikes, I'm glad to hear that your feeling okay (or like you said, as good as can be expected).  It's scary how these things work - as soon as you think you're safe...

I thought the forums seemed a little lonely yesterday. That's horrible that you guys had to go through that, but thank God you're all alright! That had to have been pretty traumatic for the little guys. Really glad to hear you all are okay.

Damn, really sorry to hear about that Scott.  That's terrible.  It goes without saying that I'm very relieved to hear that none of you were seriously injured.  How are the boys taking it?  Are you going to sue the guy, or press charges, or anything like that?  Man, I'd probably want to tear his head off for doing that to my family.  Hell, I kinda want to tear his head off for doing that to YOUR family.  Pissed off just thinking about it.

Just glad to hear you're all OK.  That's what's most important.  Take care of yourselves...

- Matt

Glad to hear everyone is ok. Terrible luck that it happened in the first place but beyond lucky you all walked away safe.

Wow!  Very glad to hear everyone walked away with no "serious" injuries, although I'm sure any of the injuries to the little guys was worrysome enough.   :(

Take it easy and rest up and let me know if you need a ride or anything, I'm not that far away ya know.   ;)

Damn, that sucks. Glad to hear that everyone was fine, as little damage as possible. And I'm not going to mention that I haven't been in a car accident in almost 10 years.

Glad you and your kids are okay Scott.  Hopefully in a few days your soreness will go away and you won't be lend up like me a few years ago and having any broken bones for undiginosed for 5 months.
I'm still sore, my neck kills me,  from my accident on tuesday if it doesn't get better by sunday I'm going to the doctors to check it out.

Wow - I just saw this. Like everyone, I'm glad to hear you're alive and back with us here. I hope you'll be able to take it easy this weekend and spend lots of time with the kids.

Best,

Why some people need to return to driving school. Yellow means SLOW DOWN. Bastards.

But it's good to know that everyone is okay. Hope you all start feeling better.

Glad to hear you guys are all right.

Seriously, what is it with some people and their need to get wherever they're going in such a goddamn hurry? I had someone ride my ass all the way home tonight on a partially icy road. What the ****, y'know?

Yeah definitely good to hear everyone is ok overall. Hopefully karma will get the ******* who hit you and get him good. A coronary would do the trick.

I'm glad to hear your ok, Scott. Hearing about experiences like that make me cautious as a young driver, especialy a learner.

Wow - How fast do they think he was going Scott?

And may I recommend a Honda Pilot as a replacement? Nice and tall, 3rd row... side curtain airbags....

As soon as we get some cash we're going to pick one up.

That's a nasty looking wreck, alright.  He must've really run the red good (late), to hit you that far back on your car.   :-\

How's your noggin Scott?  Still hazy, or are your senses finally coming back now?

Still pretty foggy actually, could be from the medication they put me on though

My back and shoulders are still messed up as well but each day the pain is going down so hopefully its all gone in a few days

Good news is that we'll get our insurance money tomorrow...bad news is, I forsee this in the Pearson garage:

I'd say we were going around 40...he was probably doing 40-50

I still have no recollection of the accident, just hearing my boys crying in the back seat of the car and sirens.  I'm almost positive that my head hit the seat belt thingee above my left shoulder.  I've seen the wreck twice now and its a true miracle all three of us are here.

Sign of the apocalypse, right there, a minivan.  Oh sure, it's a Toyota.  It could be a Honda, no matter, it's pure evil.  All the drawbacks of an SUV, none of the benefits.  Gas guzzling abomination thrust upon this earth.  The ultimate sign of giving up and conforming.  At what point did children suddenly command/need to have 80 cubic feet each?

Oh.  Have I said I hate minivans? :-*  Soccer Dad.

I've seen worse mini-vans. Last time I bought a car in the cities (1997) I actually went to Mankato. I played all the local Honda dealers against each other so badly they finally hit "bottom". I still wanted to play, so I phoned the dealer in 'kato who happily dropped another respectable chunk from the price.

Good luck, and I'm glad you're all alright (again).

I actually hadn't visited this thread until I saw the "farewell" thread this morning.  Although this might be somewhat of a repeat of what I typed over there, I do want to say that I'm very happy to hear that all three of you are ok, at least as good as can be expected.  So sorry to hear about this accident (and about the minivan :-*), but it is a blessing from above that all three of you came out of this alright.  All the best to all of you in your recovery, and to trying to put the accident behind you.  I'm sure, aside from the injuries, it was an experience you'd like to soon forget.

Also, as others have mentioned, this really angers me with all the crappy drivers out there nowadays.  Always riding you from behind, people running red lights like crazy, driving too fast in bad conditions...just a combination of things that increasingly frustrates me every day.  This is actually our first year of living in a "city", and I've noticed more than ever now.  Just terrible drivers nowadays, and they are the reason stuff like this happens.  Anyways....take care buddy, and glad to hear the boys are ok too.

I also just heard about your accident.  I'm glad to hear your family is going to be fine.  I hope things work out for you and you still stop in here to check in and let us know how things are going.
