Dear Deluxe Wave One,
Because you suck so bad, you are not selling in my area. Every store is clogged with you. There is no room for the later waves that look much more promising. Please die overnight, never to return.
Thank you,
CHEWIE

LOL! Good post CHEWIE. Yeah, wave one is glogging the pegs like plaq in my arteries!

Isn't that always the way? It's like the E1 cinema scenes. The first wave was Jar Jar, then every other set after that was better and harder to find. :P
-
Frickin' hilarious Chewie!!
All I want is a Darth Vader operating table...is that so bad???
-
I tell you what, everytime I see a damn obi-wan jedi kick it makes wants to jedi kick the crap out of the pegs. My target has 22, ok, 22 :o. That is insane.

Grievous and AnaVader sell well around here (as does Palpidious, to a lesser extent), leaving us stuck with pegs and pegs of that crappy Obi-Wan. I just wish someone would buy them all and donate them to Toys for Tots or something.
-
My sentiments exactly, Chewie.
My TRU is choking on Obi-Wans and Palpatines. There’s so many in both the front display and the regular aisle that I don’t think they’ll see future waves for months. It’s as bad as those Deluxe TPM figures with lightsaber wands were in ’99.
-
I found Deluxe Wave 2 in 4 out of 6 Targets that I went into today.
TRU seemed to be the only place overflowing with old stuff - but that's just what they do at TRU. Hell, they still have OTC Falcons for the ultra-low price of $54.99 ::)
-
You're indeed lucky, then. While my area seems to be more extreme than some other parts of SoCal (the action seems to be further inland/south), the Targets here are also choking in Wv1. Every peg is filled and they're not going anywhere.
TRU has been lucky in that there appears to be a steady stream of people interested in the basic figures #1-33, and while they have a huge amount of them, as they've done in the past to their downfall, they've had a much longer grace period before the unavoidable choke. Putting them in bins so the packaging gets thrashed to the point of looking like 4 year-old Big Lots inventory doesn't help either. But people are still buying. Which isn't happening with the Deluxe.
-
Great post, Chewie. ;D
It's the same around here, save for Target, which is where it's at right now. Deluxe wave 2 in spades.
-

I wish. I've seen 2 Deluxe Wave 2 figures. Both at Kmart. None at Walmart or Target. If I have to look at Force Jump Obi Wan anymore Im gonna snap! ;D

Every store here (Wal-Mart, Target, TRU) are all clogged up with Wave 1 as well, with no relief in sight as far as I can tell. The Anakin to Vader one sells well (actually sold out everywhere I've seen), Grievous moves pretty well, and the Obi/SBD and Palpy sit several deep everywhere, especially the Obi-Wan deluxe. I broke down and ordered Deluxe Wave 2 from Amazon, should be here today. A little bit more expensive than Wal-Mart, but I don't see them having room for any new ones anytime soon.
-
Yeah, deluxe wave 1 brings back memories of the force-flippers. What is it about Hasbro that they can't come up with a decent idea for their initial deluxe wave?
-
How many people have that huge WM Deluxe display? Mine is still completely filled with wave one. The pegs are still filled as well. They had over 50 of the Kenobi Battle Droid as of last night. K-Mart has been the place for Wave 2. Unfortuneately they are $2 more each though.
-
Yeah, the initial shipment is always the largest (and sits the longest) so why not ship the clone 3 packs, Vader table, and jet pack clonie first?
Past experience has taught us that regular figures with one gimmick do not sell as delux-o figures!!
I just don't get it....
-
I've seen the 2nd wave of deluxes recently at target and walmart so hopefully the stuff is moving. I can't say that I've seen tons of stuff sitting, most stores I go to seem to have been gone over somewhat.
I think and hope that once the movie hits (and if it does very well) toys should fly off the shelves to make way for more stuff.

This morning I went to one WalMart and one Target - the WalMart still had Yoda on Can-cell and Darth Vader on Operating Table - three of Vader and two of Yoda.
The Target I went into had all four of them (only the Blue version of the Vulture droid).
There are still PLENTY of that crappy "Jedi Jump Kick" Obi-Wan vs. SBD in both stores. The Ani/Vader & Dlx GG are long gone - there's like one or two Palpatine/Sidious deluxes still around but not a lot.
So let's face it - the first wave was "BAD" it just had one MAJORLY bad figure - the Ani/Vader is nice for what it is, but it really isn't necessary since the second wave has the FAR superior Vader on Operating Table.
The Palpatine/Sidious figure has a neat gimmick, but unfortunately no play value and the GG is just a slightly different action feature than the regular GG figure with a cooler looking paint job - HARDLY a deluxe figure - but it does sell, so it's not 100% bad.
I had these eight deluxe figures to choose from for the first wave, I would have cancelled the Quick Change Ani/Vader and Obi-Wan and made the first wave Vader on Op. Table, Jetpack Trooper & GG. The second wave I would have made Palpatine/Sidious, Yoda on Can-cell and Vulture Droid.
My fear now is that since I can go into my local WalMart and see two Yoda on Can-cells (a figure that comes only 1 per case) that means my area has already reached market saturation of the Wave 2 stuff and come release time of Wave 3 - we'll have plenty of Waves 1 and 2 still sitting around collecting serious dust.
-
I think that Wave 2 will continue to sell pretty well...
Vader on table - what collector could pass this up?
Clone - we all love Clones...
Yoda - it's Yoda on a weird creature, so should sell
Vulture Droid - kind of a stinker, but still it is any army builder
:P
-
Wave 3 could be a solid pack of 3 pack clones and I don't think anyone would complain.
And why won't Hasbro offer EE.com (or anyone else for that matter) an exclusive solid case pack of SA ROTS clone troopers!!??
These things are going for 3X retail on ebay and I KNOW there won't be any extras on the pegs around here...
-
The second wave is still a very rare sight in my area... even the few places that are low on Wave I don't seem to be restocking with Wave 2...
:P
-
In my area the blue vulture droid is already a peg warmer. I sometimes see Table Vader but other than the 1st time, I've only seen Flying Yoda and clone once more.
Gatillo
Send in the clones and the wookie copter.
-
I thought the Wookiee copter was a $14.99 vehicle? Either way, I'm up for 2-3 of them. Can't wait.
I've only seen Deluxe Wave 2 once around here... I don't know what's more sad, the fact that I've only seen them once, or how many toy runs I've gone looking for the Clone.
:P
-
It should be 14.99 but my local Targets had the AT-RT for 19.99 for 2 weeks before they "cut" it down to 14.99.

Part of the problem with the Deluxe figures is this. They are the same figures you can get in the basic line for $5 less. PLUS, the stores seem to order a whole buttload of them. I mean Toys R Us has devoted almost half as much space to the Deluxe figs as the Basic figs. Thus taking forever to get rid of them. And yes it does not help that the Kenobi deluxe fig sucks. LOL!
-
Nothing but an abundance of wave one around here. I went hunting today and finally found the Deluxe Vader at a K-Mart 40 minutes away. They also had one Deluxe Trooper, but thanks to Mikey D I already got that in a trade along with the Deluxe Yoda.
-
Still lots of wave one around here, but not so much that it's totally prevented wave 2 from hitting. However, I have yet to come accross a fresh case.
I hope the Target sale will get rid of enough of them to bring on waves 2 and 3 in full force!
-
I can't blame wave 1 in it's entirety for not having seen either subsequent wave around here yet. Since Grievous and Vader are nowhere to be found, I can only blame the other half of wave 1. Sidious and Obi-Wan with Battle Droid are at least 20 deep at every store in my area. Sidious is by far the worst, as it's really nothing more than a basic figure stuck on a deluxe card. That make no sense at all really. I just wish they'd clearance these things out even more, since not even the recent 15% off sale at Target made much of a dent in them. If they want Palpatine to move, they better mark it down 50% to have a chance. Maybe then some of the stores around here could put out some newer assortments.
-
I noticed that after the Target sale, several of the stores mysteriously lost about half of their Sidious's and Obi-Wan's. I think some stashers for restocking have been working.
