Title: Star Wars no good
Post by: Phrubruh on May 25, 2005, 05:51 PM
Have you ever have a person come up to you and say "I hear you like star wars. What did you think of rots?" you then answer and they respond, "I heard it wasn't very good". They then tell you all the stupid reasons why and make it sound like its your falt. You must be an idiot for liking it.

I had one like this today. She said, "well I heard it wasn't very good." I said how so? She said, "I heard the dialog wasn't very good". I said maybe so, but I don't like star wars for the dialog. That's like watching a chick-flick for the car crashes. It just aint going to happen.

Usually these people never saw any star wars movie but knows that Jar Jar sucks. She then tried to tell me that Jar Jar was suppost to be stupid in the new movie. I told her she was about six years too late on that argument because he doesn't say a word in the entire movie.

I guess this is a way to make conversation.

Who knows, people like that annoy me to no end... they remind me of the people that believe everything the media tells them - they want someone to make their decisions for them instead of investigating and making decisions for themself.

Everyone who talks to me usually just says "Star Wars sucks!" I ask "How so?" and the response is:

".... uh.... it sucks! Star Wars is stupid!"

Of course, thats like two people I've ever talked to. Everyone else either doesn't care or think's it's good, but isn't a hardcore fan.

Usually I get sympathetic looks from people like the ones they give people just diagnosed with something.  "Oh, so you like Star Wars?"  They don't get it, they never will, but everyone has their thing.  Usually soap operas with them.

Hmmm... yeah, I guess so.  But I don't think we should get too in depth into politics here.   ;)

I missed Bill O'Reilly tonight.   :(

Perhaps Brad's authority (with some humor) was missed.  He's saying NO political debating, and that includes subtle jabs that can instigate more of it.  Keep it on topic.

*sniff* *sniff* I smell what the Jesse is cookin.... smells like bacon!  :D

ya know whenever I hear from people their attempts to be condescending towards me for liking star wars, I do my best to confound them. I'll go with asking them why they think it sucks when they go with the inevitable statement "star wars sucks", and when they can't respond I go off on them for not being able to make an articulated and thoughtful response to my questioning of their attitude. once you belittle someone who has attempted to do the same to you, they will slink away back to whatever hole they came from defeated and looking like an ass. ahhh that's always fun....

I usually admit that the dialogue has its moments, but if this person really isn't interested in my opinion, rather my embarassment, I end the conversation lightly. No need to argue when you can just talk about other things.

ahh but there is so much fun to be had in making someone look like a total ass when they try to be mean to you.  ;)

I guess 160 million in four days means no one likes it. Heck, ROTS did more business in one midnight showing than most movies make their entire run.
