Title: Jedijaybird's Customs
Post by: Jayson on June 23, 2005, 03:47 PM
Here are a couple custom clones I've made until Hasbro gives us what we want…

Beautiful!  Those are some of the best Clone repaints I've seen.  All of them look great, but the green one is my favorite... probably because the blue and yellow ones seem to have been done a lot by other customizers too.

I like 'em all, but like CHEWIE, the green one is my favorite.  Very nice and clean lines.  Good weathering on all of them too.   ;D

I concur, that Green one is the bomb!  Nice job.

Now with custom card inserts!

Those card inserts turned out great!  Good job on them.  I've never tried doing custom packaging (it doesn't help when my most advanced picture editing program is MS Paint :P)

JJB, you did a fantastic job on all 3 of these. They look great on the card as well, I'd take any of these over what we are likely to get from Hasbro. I think you could try dirtying Bly up a little bit more, he wasn't quite so clean. Keep up thegreat work I look forward to seeing more of your stuff! :)

I see Jayson forgot to post in here and this peice is WAY too cool to let it go un-appreciated by a wider audience:

This thing is really cool and I was impressed at the fact that there is no support peg attaching the Clone to the base or anything.  The Clone is still completely posable, it's just perfectly balanced!

Way cool, Jayson!

Hasbro, i hope you are looking, those are really cool and the yoda is the best i have seen in a long time, they should sell it as a deluxe figure that way instead of the one with the fliying mosquito.

Thanks for all the praise guys… sorry if the photos aren't loading at times, the Yakface server these photos are on is acting up today.

FYI. I am working on some custom packaging similar to the 25th Anniversary 2-packs from a few years ago.
Stay tuned.

Your troopers a very well done and the packaging is the icing on the cake! On a side note - I feel that many of the customizers on this board including yourself, are out doing Hasbro by leaps and bounds - We gotta be careful! Hasbro may just decide with all the customizers out there, why spend the money on repaints! :)

Great Shocktrooper - those tiny lines on the head are very hard to do and yours came out great.
That Yoda vs. Spec Ops mini dio is cool as well, good stuff!  I think the Spec Ops clones have 2 blue lines running down the sides of their legs though

Your troopes are very well done. I love the carded pics. Very clean and professional looking.

Man your troopers are very impressive the paint apps are very well done without going over the top and the weathering is spot on. But the cards for the troops that what else got me very proffessional. well done.

That latest trooper looks great... he has a very realistic paint application to him.

The Mace looks interesting.  Is this supposed to be when he gets his hand chopped off?

Sweet jobs on the clone and mace (so far). I'm envious. I really would love to get into customing...
You'll have to teach me some basics sometime!!

That's a nice Mace Windu, but I love the trooper. The paint is awesome and the use of canvas for his kama is sweet. I like the frayed look. Great work.

Great looking Coms Trooper he looks really dirty but without being over done and the colour markings on him are great . And Mace looks good the face reminds me of when there in teh arena fighting in AOTC te only thing I would do is in the second shot with the plastic robe is to dull it down a little as it looks a little shiny other then that great work.

That clone is amazing! I love the comm backpack and all the gear, and the chipped striping and the "dirt" splatters as well.

However, you might want to rearrange the pics from side-by-side to vertical alignment because it's making the page all stretchy. :-\

WIP KFC Anakin

I used a open flame to acheive some of the burn effect, painted over it and the burned it again.

I plan on making his cybernetic legs and connections to his left arm, hoping to create the ultimate pre/post-op VADER.

LMK what you guys think.

Gruesome!  I can't wait to see how the whole display turns out.  You also might be able to use modified EV-9D9 or 8D8 legs (if you cut and repositioned some of the parts), although I'm not sure.  Maybe G.I. Joe B.A.T.S. figures?  Some of them have pretty good robotic parts.

The Anakin is a good start Jay, definitely going to take the look of the figure Hasbro made to the look the film imbedded in our minds.  Your work's already going to be a good example of where Hasbro shows a sculpt beyond belief but a factory paintjob makes you sometimes think the sculpt isn't as nice as it actually is.

You're off to a gruesome custom, I look forward to updates man.

Head: Bacara (with additional weathering)
Accessories: Bacara Pauldron and Rifle & blaster and #41 blaster
Custom Kama: Canvas cut and stitched (with sewing machine) then dyed and weathered.

JJ great Baccarra, personally not too fond of softgoods but this looks really great.  paints apps: awesome the only thing i would've done would be to have removed the hasbro "scratches" those have always bothered me.

Here is my finished custom Mustafar Duel Obi-Wan Kenobi.

It was achieved by rubbing the costume with black pastels, cutting a few holes in the outfit and burning/singeing areas of it as well for an authentic effect. All in all, I think it turned out pretty well for my first attempt at something like this.
