Title: Elite Clone Troopers?
Post by: evenflow on July 19, 2005, 09:25 PM
Not sure if you guys have seen these.

Elite Clone Prototypes (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5988027456&category=751&rd=1)

GH has them listed as possible Target exclusives.

I am not feeling them.

what, there aren't enough variations of the clone yet? lol

We're going to have more EU clones than legitimate paint variations at the rate this is going. Weak.

Those look like the Clones they're using in that Target Battle Pack with the 5 Clones...

So we have a little Commander Bacara, a little Coruscant shock troop, and the rest plain white generic clone all mixed into one.

PASS

let's slap a backpack on him and call it a new variant

Wow.  Just wow.  I seriously hope that isn't the Coruscant Battle Pack set, because if it is...that's yet another pass from me this fall.

I mean, I don't have the patience or skills to do a custom figure, but wow.  The Bacara pauldron on a #6 Clone with a red shoulder piece?  My daughter could make that figure, and I don't even have a daughter.   :)

Uhhh looks like a custom to me.

Not much of a custom, but I agree.

It would look a lot better if the left shoulder and the shoulder pad were the same color.

I'm really tempted to say it's a custom job, but they all look a little too uniform and cookie cutter to me for that to be the case.

If this is legitimate, it isn't too impressive to me.  Like Jared mentioned earlier, we're going to have more "EU" paint variations of troopers than actual movie versions before too long here.  Plus, with a possible "exclusive" tag, it will probably be in the $10-$13 range.  I'm starting to get tired of the exclusive stuff, even though I'm not actively looking for most of them.  I know exclusives have always been somewhat of a pain for people, depending on area, but I kind of miss the days where we could actually sometimes get a decent, movie vehicle or something as an exclusive.  Not repaints that are 2-3 times retail price.

The funny thing is, being EU, I'd leave it on the pegs for $5, Hasbro and Target can forget about $13.

Seriously, how many people here are going to go out and hunt for this thing with gas $2.50/gallon, then pay probably upwards of $13 for the actual figure when you find it after going through 1/2 tank of gas conservatively?  This piece of **** realistically costs $30.

Aleast if it's EU, I don't have to army build with it. :P

Dressel's right.

The only reason is I work anymore is to pay for the gas to get me here and home,  health care and the babysitter!!

**** it.  I quit.

I'm voting for the other guy and going on welfare.  Let you bastards support me.

I know it's not. Just saying it looks like one. But Im sure the guys on the customs board could do a better job.

That's a pretty bizarre mix 'n' match, but I think they look kind of cool. They'd be very much improved if the shoulder colors matched though.

I have decided that with the clones that are not in the movie, I will buy them only if I see them, but I will not look for them.

These look OK, but nothing that interesting.

it is a sorry looking figure. that's for sure.

They could have done a much better job

I like them. I may try and nab a few of these...but there are just sooo many army builders coming down the pipe.

The guy selling these isn't a customizer, nor known for selling customs.  Not much is being said on them, but right now I'm thinking they're NOT customs but something due out sometime in the not-too-distant-future.

Are they cool?  I think so...  I'm a fan of the non-film figures so long as they're good figures on their own.  Price is up in the air (as with everything else anymore)...  I'd like an army if I could find them for a good price.  I'd like a squad if I could find them for a fair price.  I'd like a team if I could find them for an unfair price.  I'd like 1 if it's going to be too expensive for my tastes/spending limitations.

I like the pauldron, and I like the colors.  Could use a little more color, but he's cool as he is too.

Like other non-film (and non-eu even) repaints, I like it.  The films aren't "everything" for me as a collector/army builder.

Well now i dont know what to think. The guy who is not for selling prototypes, is selling these, which Hasbro is now saying are not the real deal. Maybe they are customs.  ???

That's nice to hear.

If they are going to invent new paint schemes, at least use up all the various movie and EU ones first. =)

Glad to hear it. I would have passed on these clones because I just don't like how they look.

What I think..... Is that they suck ass. They are too "flaming" colorful for me. Oh sure if your a non-masculine fashion designer you may like it. c'mon-red,purple,white???? it's got rainbow warrior written all over it. Geez like, letz make it red, white and blue for a patriotic theme. ::) It's money saved on a nonconvinceable custom
