Title: VADER and SITH drink coasters
Post by: Blue_Harvester on August 17, 2005, 12:11 PM
I just got a big order in from SWS.com (my 3D movie poster - Style A ;D) yesterday,
and I had forgotten that I tossed a couple extra items into the order.  Some STAR
WARS drinks coasters...

http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=1910;category_id=423

(I got both the VADER set and the SITH set).

Anyway, I get them, and on the back of the package is this sticker that reads...

" State of California PROP-65.  This product contains or may contain a chemical
known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects and other
reproductive harm. "

Jeezo, thats scary ! :o :o :o.

I opened them up, and they just look like plain metal discs, with cork backing.
(actually, pretty cheapo considering I paid $10 for 5 of them.  $2 ea for a tin
ring and some cork).    I cant imagine whats in them that makes them
dangerous.

Does anyone know?

It might just be due to them having some form of lead in them, BH.  Does tin consist of lead at all?  I don't know.  But I've seen that warning on a number of things myself in the past.  Seems kinda scary, but I don't think it's really all that bad, unless you perhaps eat one of the coasters.  Then you might have a problem...  ;)

Don't be scared by government warnings.  It's called litigation avoidance.  Courts have completely lost control of real versus perceived danger and reward all manner of stupidity.  Because it's allowed in the State, the State decided to put a warning on eliminating any responsibility on their part for any perceived (real or not) effects.

The short version is it's all bull****, we're afraid of our shadows.
