Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The Walking Dead

So who caused the distraction at the end?

Carl's "girlfriend"?

The Wolves?

The son of the dude Rick shot last season?

The Wolves was my first thought.  I think they found out about Alexandria towards the end of the season 5 finale IIRC.

Anyone still watching this show? 2 solid episodes thus far... except that Ward.  ::)

Nice to see Lo Pan...  :D

They're on my DVR...haven't gotten to them yet.  The same can't be said for Gotham.

I was just thinking about something after the finale - how did an intelligent, extremely savvy, able-bodied multi-millionaire end up in the prison for junkies, psychos and dead-meat?  A prison that's nowhere near his mansion and yacht?  In what universe does that begin to make sense?

Probably something they will cover next season, but my guess is that he was downtown and got caught up around the riots.  Hell the military was quarantining anyone they thought might be trouble.

"Submit your blaster for inspection".  I'm guessing she's just an MTI!

On another note...there's a friend of mine that I  will not be able to see the movie with because everytime she comes on screen he's going to say this!

These things are awful.  $13 ($16 at the Target downtown here), and ill-conceived.

It's a $6 figure with a completely useless backpack.

Pretty much all the figures are awful at this point, but these are pretty good for a 5 year old.

So my kid's 5th birthday was last week and I got for him Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, a couple of Flame troopers (the armor up one and one with those weird accessories), a regular Stormtrooper, the Snow Speeder and the up armor versions of Finn and Poe.

He loves all the first order figures, especially Kylo Ren (we got this large balloon of Kylo Ren from Party City and I've seen him hug it!), and for a five year old kid I think they are just fine...but I can't wait to get some better articulated figures for my collection.

Overall, I liked the show.  I wish they had done a few things differently (the soldiers in the parking garage really kind of got to me....the ones guarding the neighborhood didn't as much, mainly because I figure that is what you'd get when you put a 1Lt in charge).

FTWD definitely whetted my appetite for TWD's return next week and I'll look forward to season 2.

I checked my Jabba and it seems ok.  Not stuck to the dais and not oily.

We haven't really seen anything about Han, Luke or Leia yet.  Guess they aren't in the first third of the film.

He probably has to talk at some point Paul!

The Sequel Trilogy / The new TIE Fighters
« on: September 24, 2015, 01:45 PM »
Ok, so this one has been bothering me for a while, because I really am not sure what to make of it.

The original TIE fighters were white/grey with black "solar" panels.  The new ones are black with light colored panels.  Now solar panels are black because they absorb all colors across the visual spectrum (plants absorb every color of the spectrum except green so they don't overheat).  Now a light colored solar panel would be completely inneficient, so why have a light colored solar panel on the new TIE fighter?

Are they not solar panels like we've thought for the past 38 years?

Is this just another JJ Abrams "Look I reversed it so it's new!" tactic like he and that moron Lindeloff did to Star Trek?

Does the technology work different in the SW universe?

Am I overthinking this?  (Quite possible!)

What do y'all think?

Hayden needs the work.  And he's been in the suit before.  It's a physical acting role, and not one where Hayden would have to voice dialogue.  That's James Earl Jones' job.

Now if he's being cast to play a Force Spirit Anakin Skywalker in Episode 8?  Then I can appreciate some of the concerns people might have.  But if Anakin as a Force Spirit is integral to the story?  You can certainly speculate however you want.  From the trailers it seems that someone in the Sequels is a devotee to Darth Vader, seeing how the melted Vader helmet & mask are set up as an object of worship.  Recasting the Anakin role would damage any sense of continuity

Since Force ghosts are immortal in movie cannon (the in five years it gets too hard like in the Thrawn trilogy was taken out in ROTS), I fully expect to see Yoda, Anakin and Obi-Wan as force ghosts.

The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: Walmart Black Series 3.75" Wave 3?

Hell, I can't find any figures on the pegs.  The worst part is my oldest son's 5th birthday is next week and he loves stormtroopers!

Luckily, I found a couple online for him.

When are these supposed to be available?

Here's a question I've been pondering. Will there be black series vehicles? Wouldn't mind a proper sized X-Wing and TIE fighter.

I bet if the line sells well, there will be.
