Saga '02-'04 / Talkin' about the toy business...
« on: October 15, 2003, 05:12 PM »
These posts have been split off from the "New Carded Pics, FC#4..." thread into their own special place here in this new "Talkin' about the toy business..." thread.  Enjoy, and try to keep it civil PLEASE!
- JediMAC

I think them being toys and nothing more... they are all incredible looking pieces of plastic.

I have seen Hasbro just get progressively better since launching this line in '95... Granted we get the occasional "not worth their plastic" figures here and there but no one's perfect.

It's one of the longest running modern lines... (*note I said one)

The likenesses get better and better (IMHO) and if anyone that truly knows about toys... also knows that likenesses in this scale are not very easy to pull.
Though today's technology has allowed a lot more room for accuracy...

The only complaint I can see is in movie the figures lack that special-ness than in non movie. POJT was a tremendous line general... next year looks to top that...
One thing most don't take into account is in a movie (sad as it may sound) it's usually quantity over quality for Hasbro.

They are looking to crank out the most product they can and thus figures tend to suffer a little less... but even then we still get some of the best 4" scale toys out there.

GI Joe has an extensive line though I don't find the line overly impressive IMHO. Some of the smaller companies producing military make some impressive vehicles... though their figures aren't blow me over material.

I do acknowledge the articulation and accessories are pretty slick in some... though face and body wise strip them down and they are nothing to really look at...

I'm biased? Maybe some would say but I am a huge fan of toys in general. I may only own and dedicate my time and money to Star Wars (as a whole) I do very much like other toy lines in general...

Some great lines would be Simpsons, Muppets, even LOTR (though I have never even watched a minute of either movie).

At the end of the day it's plastic men and women and that's all to me... I know that Allen Hassenfeld does not have a gun to my head.

I think before some get to ever truly enjoy the line it'll be done w/... then what???

This wave shown today...

Very cool... and all must haves IMHO

I know this post will most likely get a snide remark or two (or three) but hey I figure it's my opinion to voice as others have and will  :-*

Clone Wars '03-'05 / CW deluxe at TRU
« on: October 8, 2003, 07:32 PM »
TRU here in MA got the new CW Durge & speeder and the Clone & speeder. No red Clones for me... just missed them...

TRU seems to be at least supporting the line fairly well...

Collections / How do you display?
« on: September 18, 2003, 03:05 PM »
I dig checking out other people's collections to get a taste of what they collect and also for how it's displayed.

One major pet peeve of mine though is people that display their vintage and modern together. It might just be the anal collector I me but I just do not dig it.

I think IMHO it should be seperate. It was a different time and place. Also the fact that most vintage just look very out of place w/ any of the modern line.

Here's just a very small look at how I display things.
I have around 12 bookcases in the room and stuff in storage on top of that...

Hopefully I get a chance to snap pics soon of the room at least  ;)

Clone Wars '03-'05 / ARC Trooper/Durge shoulder variations
« on: September 14, 2003, 08:50 PM »
Since I'm not posting much as of late....

Just a heads up of sorts to those I'm cool w/ here that are into variations...

The Arc Trooper is shipping w/ a pretty significant variation to it.

One is shipping w/ his right shoulder painted grey... the other is painted the same blue as the stripe.

Basically the stripe ends on the grey version whereas the stripe continues on the blue version. Also of note is the shoulder joint on the grey is not painted and is white, but on the blue it is painted blue like the stripe.

I do not have any pics since I well... haven't taken any yet... but if I get off my lazy *** I'll post some up.
I believe these variation exist on both the single carded version and value pack.

I have a single carded and value pack carded but both are the grey... though I have 4 loose grey and 5 loose blue that all came from value packs. So I can say it at the very least exists on the value packs in both versions...

Have fun...

Saga '02-'04 / How are you feeling?
« on: August 13, 2003, 03:57 PM »
Since Hasbro displayed some of their coming wares last weekend at WWC... How does everyone feel about the future of the line...

I mean yes we know Hasbro has the license until 2018... but do we think they will actually pump out product til then?

I mean yes they do have some stuff left to do... but they have touched on a lot of OT stuff as is... I can see them doing more "improvements" w/ things such as the new Wampa and Luke Hoth... but will collectors keep caring about that kind of stuff or eventually will it reach burn out...

I honestly can't see the line going past 2007 at this point unless LFL has something planned... which could be possible.

Thoughts? Comments?

Watto's Junk Yard / Will Madonna ever give it up?
« on: August 2, 2003, 11:54 AM »
I just saw that new GAP commercial w/ her and Missy Elliot... and man oh man...

Does Madonna just need to give it up or what.

I mean she's an ol' skanky hag at this point. What is she 45 now?  :o

Sit down and check the year Mrs. Material Girl... 2003!
LONG gone are the days when you were 23...

Stay home take care of the kids and hubby...
and give it up.

Can you say glamorized white trash?

Watto's Junk Yard / Jedi Defender a friendly place...?
« on: August 1, 2003, 04:18 PM »
Not to sit here and bash this site or forum because honestly most here have been nothing but cool...
but if I were JD I'd rethink a staff member/moderator's position here.

Jango Fettish truly does not represent that whole "love love" thing here at JD. My evidence...

Scum forum thread

I'm sure many know my love to hate relationship w/ a man I think is one of the biggest hypocrites, homophobes, racists and well... I'll be nice and clean for now... Though I never bother w/ him...
For some odd reason though ol' Jango boy just can't let things be... and consistently adds a little "Jimmy_" bash anytime he can BUT only at other places where I have no defense.

I mean dude at least be a man that God made (or tried to at least) and do it to my face. You know I am here and if you are still so infatuated w/ me just be man enough to let me know. Those mean faced pictures do not nothing to make this man shake in his boots...

I understand I may get banned for this thread but c' est la' vie. I also realize Cory's friends may come to his side... but again... I think though that his little highschool boy talk trash when I'm not around tatics are pathetic.

I just would hope JD would see what he's about and not want someone of his demeanor representing them.

Modern Classifieds / NEED blue Clone bust from SDCC
« on: July 21, 2003, 05:57 PM »
Well no go on for my friend in San Diego...  :'(

So I'm asking for any help here...

Will pay cost plus add in a free minty fresh Sacul.

How does that sound?

Other Collectibles / Blue Clone BUST
« on: July 20, 2003, 11:35 PM »
I think GG really came up w/ a bust on this piece...
Limited to 1,000 units to be split between two cons??

Stories of horror already have been heard on this one, and an eBay search pulls up over 40+...

What make me laugh my *** off is GG saying "they didn't expect demand". That is a good one...  ;D ;D ;D
Let's see the last four busts they have produced all sold out and command insane prices on eBay now. Nah... How could they ever see the demand?  ::)

I had a good friend going to SDCC but haven't heard form him yet...

"I have a bad feeling about this"

I don't think he'll have good news... but who knows.
I know one thing is that GG really shouldn't have done something like this. This is the kind of thing that puts the first nail in the coffin...

I have another shot in Chicago if nothing came out of SDCC... but the Windy City doesn't sound much better.
Only good thing is my odds are a little better since I'll know three people there... one being an online retailer I'm friends w/...

Who knows I may even be able to attend...

Though right now the blue Clone is not looking as favorable as I'd like for an addition in the collection.

Modern Trading / Got blue Clone bust? Need Sacul?
« on: July 20, 2003, 09:06 PM »
If anyone was lucky enough to snag a blue Clone bust this weekend at SDCC and are looking to trade it... Gimmie a holler!!!

I got a minty Sacul and some duckets (lol) in my pocket if you want to hook something up.

I had a couple of friends go and they said they'd try to snag one for me... but haven't heard back and not sure they got lucky.

Customs Community and Group Projects / Customs or not?
« on: July 7, 2003, 04:52 PM »
I brought this up on a couple of forums and figured I'd throw it up here as well to get your opinions...

Does a custom figure have to have all it's articulation to be considered custom to you?

Or is a custom any figure you change in any way at all?

I go for the second...

I have done many customs (which I will soon post a bunch f pics of) that have been from simple repaints to swaps to paint/swaps... Haven't dare tried sculpting end since I couldn't imagine what'd come out of that  ;)

Some of the customs I have done have all artic... while others have almost none.

I view customs as filler space for stuff Hasbro has not... or will not give us. Most of what I do are fillers in every sense of the word. I have done a few Endor troopers, Ewoks, Tatooine residents, Senators, Jedi, and even working on Nightclub/Coruscant patrons now...

They are mostly to flush out small scenes that I scatter throught my collection.

What's your thoughts guys...

Newbies / Re: Hello To All
