Jocasta's Reading Room / Discussion: Star Wars Rebellion #1
« on: April 14, 2006, 08:54 PM »
Got this bad boy on Wednesday, but didn't get around reading until today....

Quick Recap: A nice flashback to better days for Luke and Tank starts us out. We go from there to Lt. Sunber's here and now, which is an Imperial seige of a rebel stronghold. After overcoming a sneak attack from some footsoldiers, Lt. Sunber is ordered to withdraw so a squad of TIE Bombers can bomb the stronghold. The rebels shoot a TIE Bomber down. And Lt. Sunber reflects on his life as the tiwsied reckage flips and twists right over his head. After that, Lt. Sunber thinks about the events that lead us to this point (Star Wars: Empire #40) and then stops two Imperials from roughing up a captured Rebel. Until that Rebel mentions the wrong name doing something that sets Lt. Sunber over the edge. After the the two Imperials that Lt. Sunber stopped from beating the Rebel stop Lt. Sunber from doing the very same thing, Lt. Sunber feels that he has only one course of action left. He gets a meeting with Darth Vader to discuss what he knows about his old friend.....

Comments: Wow! What a great start to this series. The art is very, very good and the story has enough meat to stand on it's own while hooking you for the next issue. And the crashdown of the TIE Bomber crashdown is one of those great moments that, when reading the page, you can just hear the twisting metal of the TIE as it spins and flips its way to Lt. Sunber. Just great, solid storytelling and I can't wait for the next issue.

Looks GREAT!!!!! And if that release date is right (Jan. 25) that makes three issues this month. I wonder how long ago John and Jan had this finished.
