The Vintage Collection / Re: Toy Fair 2010!

If they're doing away with the BADs in favor of slivers of cardboard, they need to knock a dollar off the MSRP.

Hey now - in fairness, the pack-in isn't just "slivers of cardboard", it's a sliver of cardboard, a die, and a stand.   :P

Image from ToyArk:

I bought a couple of figures I was on the fence about because I wanted to build the droid. I could see skipping a few figures I'm on the fence about because of stupid **** like this for a pack in.

If TLC is getting an AT-AT, Hasbro damn sure better have something comparable up their sleeves for the animated line.

Or just put the AT-AT in the cartoon for an episode and call it good for both.  ::)

While I'd LOVE to see a sail barge and a modular death star I think they're both pipe dreams. Of course, I thought a new bigger AT-AT was out of the question too. If they really have that maybe when ROTJ hits the 30th anniversary we could get something so cool as a sail barge...? Naw. Pipe dreaming again.

Especially Tzizvvt, which I think was the biggest waste of poll space and should never even appear on Hasbro's radar.

Speak for yourself.  I love the fact Tzizvvt made it and I'd prefer ANY Cantina Alien, even the most obscure, "only in the photo stills/holiday special and not actually in the movie" type ones over any video game character, prequel queen, handmaiden, or Jedi librarian types.  Different strokes for different folks and all that I guess.     :)

Agreed. Any OT, even crap like Willrow Hood is better than Jaxxon. Good think I'm not a completist, if that **** get's made I'll skip it on clearance.

Dammit, and I went and got breast implants
I'm impressed, I know that if I had a pair of those implants I'd never get any customizing done...

These have begun to appear on Ebay now. This is not my auction, so I am not pimping it, but there are some great pictures here:

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Don's Customs
« on: March 4, 2006, 05:15 PM »
Thanks for the comments. Actually I think jedistyle is in Afganistan. Probably been to Iraq at some point though...

As to the glossy look, they don't look as bad in person, but the camera flash really brings out the shine. Anyone know how to avoid that?

I have a couple figures here in Iraq with me (Tusken, Sandtrooper, 3PO, R2) and plan to get some out-in-the-desert pictures of them. I'll post them eventuallly...

Also hope to get a few more of my customs up...someday.

Star Wars Action Figures / Don's Customs
« on: March 1, 2006, 03:17 PM »
I have been meaning to post my custom figures for quite some time, but have been busy. In fact I am actually writing you all from Iraq where I am serving with the US Army. (Please don't make this thread political, if you have a question or something you would like to say about Iraq feel free to PM, but I would like to see this thread stay non-political. I only mention Iraq because I think it's pretty amazing that I am able to post this from here.)
Anyway, since I didn't actually bring my figures these aren't recent customs. I have had the photos with me, but just didn't make the time to post them.
I am a big fan of Tatooine. So alot of these are Tatooine background style fan fiction.
Some of you may remember the Sith Witch and Evil-Quay that I posted just before coming over here. I had planned to follow up so here is a follow up.
Some Old school first. Anyone remember Stephen Hayford? He sculpted and cast these first two heads for me:

I call this guy my Tatty-Fatty. Mostly it's Wuher, the head is Porkins and the fur-lined hood is from that EU Obi-Wan figure from a couple years ago.

Another Wuher body, this time a Ketwal head.

And on a Bosheck body.

Some Rodians.

A couple of those Rodians don't fit the Tatooine theme of this post, but whattayagonnado?

Some type of pilot dude.

And here are some Weequay guards. First is the one from Jabbas palace, but with a belt and loin cloth upgrade from the Skiff Lando.

And a couple FanFiction Weequays.

The shorty-quay is an Ugnaught lower body, and Skiff Lando upper body. I dremeled out the weequay head to fit the new ball jointed neck and sculpted the do-rag myself. His belt is also sculpted and the holster is from Skiff Lando. The other is mainly just Weequay with a jedi skirt and new paint job.
It's late, gotta get to bed. I look forward to hearing from you all!

Master_Phruby I PM'd you.

Being stuck in Iraq with the US army I missed the twin exclusives and would love a cast...

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Naboo Wave

Depending on the pod racers, theres alot of this wave that I plan to skip. I was hoping for a two pack of these shorty Federation droids:

Thanks for the kind words.

... what type of paint do you use?

Testors, Model Master, acrylics.

11
Oops, forgot one. I didn't use 3PO parts for this one! It's IG-88 and battle droid arms. I used that same maroon paint as I did on the protocol droid, what can I say I liked how the other one turned out. I'll just imagine that some SW chatacter who ownes them also likes that color...
I left his mid to lower legs bare of new paint on purpose, thought it almost looked like shorts.

12
Well I used 3PO parts, but I think these look different enough to be cool.

The first was made using the deluxe 3PO/Battledroid at droid factory with the easy to swap because thier designed to parts.

And the back:

The second is just a bunch of parts cobbled together.

Star Wars Dioramas and Displays / Re: Diorama Bits...
« on: July 30, 2005, 02:40 AM »
If anyone is thinking about buying from Mark at build-a-rama and need just one more positive remark let it be mine. I have the sci-fi stuff and a bunch of his 1:18 scale military accessories. I love them and recommend the site to anyone interested in 1:18 scale dioramas. I hope you all buy the sci-fi stuff from him because it might get him to create a wider sci-fi selection!

Chewie, don't forget mine from back on page 13.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: New Figure Wish List
« on: July 1, 2005, 11:07 PM »
That list is very comprehensive! I would love to see every one of them made! I was thinking about making a list, but I'll just name a few favorites from your list:
Tey How
Daulty Dofine
Kitster and Wald
Greedo (E1)
Gardulla The Hutt
*Ann and Tann Gella!!
Mawhonic
Senator Mot Not Rab
Hermoine Bagwa
Jocasta Nu
Queen Jamillia
Cliegg Lars
Owen Lars
Beru Whitesun
Bultar Swan
Sora Bolq
Senator Toonbuck Toora
CZ-3
*Brea and Senni Tonnika!!!
Mara Jade (Arica)
*Yarna d'al' Gargan!!!
Obviously I think Hasbro has really shorted us when it comes to female figures.
And Ranat, I hope you don't mind, but I saved your list and plan drool over it for weeks...then I'll cry when I realize it'll never happen.
