Conventions / Re: San Diego Comic-Con 2009

Just got back yesterday. I had such a great time! 8)

Hey David, I was curious whether you had a chance to mail the card you picked up for me yet.  I tried to PM you, but your inbox is full.  If you haven't mailed the card yet, could you PM me the 20 character code on the back?  It consists of a combination of letters and numbers in five groups of four.

Thanks,

Roger

Dale!  How the heck you doing?  Have you talked to Bob lately?  I haven't seen hide nor hair of him in ages.  Hope he's doing well.

Hey gang, I know I haven't posted here in ages, so I'll understand compeletly if you tell me to take a hike, but I thought I'd take a shot, since I can't make it to SDCC this year.  I wanted to ask if anyone would be willing to pick up a freebie for me.  A freebie you don't have to preorder, pay for (obviously), stand in line for, or even ship to me after you get it.  You just have to stop by the booth and ask for it.

Please shoot me a PM if your willing and able to help an old-timer out.

Thanks!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What HDTV to buy - LCD, Plasma, DLP
« on: August 8, 2007, 09:45 AM »
Cool!  I just bought one of these on Monday (I got mine at Circuit City though):

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LNT4065F-1080p-LCD-HDTV/dp/B000OE02G4/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-9728076-2266221?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1186580563&sr=1-1

I haven't hooked it up yet though.  Probably this weekend or next week - I need to get rid of my current entertainment center first.

Anyone else find it ironic that they choose to put the Stormtrooper on the Germany coin?  The Nazis were the original stormtroopers, but do you really think Germany wants to remind people of that?

I'm seriously considering attending this.  And Mr. Christensen isn't the only Hayden who will be there.  :)

The OT voice of Jabba the Hutt?

I was also thinking something quick and easy (for any night really) might be the Fox Sports bar right there in the Staples Center, just outside of the Convention Center.
Is that different than the Gordon Biersch bar/pub I saw someone mention on RS?

I just made arrangements to head home Sunday night instead of Saturday night, so now either Friday night or Saturday night works for me.  I'm not going to the Carrie Fisher talk, and I really have no plans after hours any night.  I won't have transportation though, so if it's somewhere "off-site" I'd need a ride, but any place is fine with me, provided the temperature inside is under 100.  ;)

The only thingthat really jumps out at me, besides the figures, for which they still haven't published a price,  is the McQ Bespin print.  I'm definitely hoping to snag one of those.

No bags or backpacks allowed in the store?  Sounds reasonable since it's apparently going to be set up like a department store, but I wonder if they'll have a bag check at the entrance or something like they do for the art show at the San Diego Comic-Con.  Otherwise I'll have to leave all my crap at the hotel in the morning and go back for it after shopping.  Probably not a bad idea anyway though.

I got her to sign my POTF2 Slave Leia figure at C2, but if I needed her signature today, I'd probably go with the VOTC figure.  Not a great figure IMO, but a great picture and card design.

Celebration IV: Los Angeles / Re: C4 Collecting Track

Those are so freaking cool.  I can't even say which one/s I'd want if I only had the opportunity to get one, or a few.

I won't have time to attend all the panels to potentially put together a full set, heck I won't even be there Sunday or Monday, but if I see a panel that catches my attention, I may try to hit it.  If I pick up any medallions I'll let everyone know and if someone needs it/them to complete a set, we can talk about some sort of trade or something.

Any word on who won the US Postoffices' SW Jedi Master grand prize to C4?

Yeah, I heard it was USCwannabe.  Dustin is currently disputing it.

I would hope that Hasbro has enough brains by now to make so freaking many of these McQ figures that they don't have to allocate them to a certin amount each day.  Even if they didn't, IMO the allocation should not start until the convention is open to the general public at 10 AM on Friday.  If they bring 100,000 figures and go through 50,000 of those on FC day, so be it.  One of the perks of FC membership should be being able to buy these figures on FC day.

So, while I don't know for sure, I sure think the McQ figures will be available in the store throughout the night Thursday night.

My guesses in order of likelihood (IMO):

SLJ
Hayden
JEJ
Hamill
Ford
